Wow it's been busy on here!

Will reply properly to everyone later too tired now.

DP came back from holiday at 4.30 a.m yesterday. So we were both very tired yesterday but managed a trip to Ikea in the afternoon. I bit the bullet and painted one wall of the babies room 'spring' (light green) on Wednesday. Just need to paint the other walls off-white now. The rooms too small to be able to take just one colour. The cot is all dressed now just need a new mobile, I would really like a wooden one if anyone knows where i could find a nice one?

I will feel so much better when the room is finished today.

I am going to start washing all the clothes from the attic tomorrow when i've got through dps holiday laundry today.

36 weeks on Monday i really want this baby out in the next 1-3 weeks not 4. I am also suffering from pregnancy insomnia. That with the anemia is leaving me shattered most days. I have this weekend off, next weekend is my last at work and then my maternity leave starts!

sammysam · 05/09/2009 09:24

Morning!

WOW-boob-that is fantastic news! 1 week to go

MW went well-first time i've seen her-even though she is 'my' mw. All is ok for the homebirth-just need to sort everything out now! I'm measuring small-but she said it was accurate as the baby is right up under my ribs (really?!!!!) but even so she is seeing me next week and wants me to have grown. The stipid thing is if she'd looked at my notes she'd have seen that at the scan last week the baby is measuring big and fluid levels are above average. Hey ho. Also sounded like she was saying i'm not eating enough....little does she know I eat like a horse-I can still eat the same size meals-and they are BIG-god knows what it does to the baby!!! Anyway-I know that I just carry very neat and tight-I just hope her meddling doesn't cause probs with the home birth last min.......i will be very !!!!!

She also said 'how big was dd?' me '8lbs 14' mw 'this ones no where as big as that'-if only i could believe that after all the scans and the mw saying at 40wks with dd 'it's definately no bigger than 7lbs'!!
I hope she is right though

Sorry for the ramble!
Hope everyone is ok, have a great day!

fidelma · 05/09/2009 09:28

Was up for 3 hours in the night as just couldn't sleep.Braxton hicks not to bad today but I do feel sick.I wonder if I have a we bug.

smallone · 05/09/2009 10:29

Theboob, I hope you can enjoy your last week of pregnancy and that all goes to plan. Very exciting!

fidelma, I think our babies/bellies are in sync!

Sammysam - I was only saying yesterday that I'm grateful that I know that growth charts are a load of rubbish and not to be taken seriously. According to dd's chart she should have been 9lb odd at 40 wks and she was 8lb5 at 41. This baby comes out at 10lb 6

Mostly packed my bag yesterday. I need to buy nappies and a few toiletries and wash some things to put in, but other than that I'm done.

princessmel · 05/09/2009 11:44

Hi all

Ooh fidelma and smallone!!! keep an eye on things and if the BH become closer, longer, stronger and more regular then phone the delivery suite or midwife....

Great news about your homebirth sammysam

Are you moving far mossop?? Hope it goes smothly for you.

I had a trip to the delivery suite last night.
I hadn't felt the baby move really all day and that is very unusual for this baby. Plus I'd had loads of strong BH a few nights before and ever since then had felt like I was more wet down below. I thought it was probably just dishcharge but it was making me think. Anyway I txted my midwife and asked her what I should do. She called me back later and said I should call the hospital and see what they say and probably go in.
By the time she rang me, I had felt the baby move and I told her this but she still wanted me to call them. She said it was because any change in baby's normal activity could be significant.
So we did and they said I needed to go in and be checked.

I was put on a moniter and ended up being on it for well over an hour. Baby's HB was really fast to start off with and they wanted to keep an eye on things. Then they did a urine sample and decided to send that off. I think there were traces in it.

Then the doctor did an internal to see if I was dialated atall or if my waters had gone.
This was awful and I burst into tears!! She had to give up and then try again. The midwife was helping me to do deep breathing that time. I always find these internals sooo painful, I am sure I have a tilted/strange enterance down there!!
Anyway, no dialation and no rumpture of water so all good.

The doctor was asking me about whether I'd had a GD test and measured me, so I'm thinking if she had spotted something in my urine then that is what she was thinking.

By the time we'd left I was wishing we hadn't gone in as I was so tearful after the examination. Baby was moving LOADS during the whole time we were there! Typical.

Hopefully we're going to have a trip to the seaside tomorrow

Hope you're all ok

smallone · 05/09/2009 12:35

Oh dear Princess, I hope that your LO doesn't worry you today. I found my first internal really painful too, but then after that they were ok. I'm convinced they do something different in that first one.

Not too worried about BH, I had the same with DD for weeks before I had her. and anyway baby is not allowed to come this weekend coz DH is in France!

princessmel · 05/09/2009 12:47

Thanks smallone.

No tell your baby to hang on till dh is home!!

Just spotted my terrible typos in my last post

HumphreysCorner · 05/09/2009 12:48

theboob-how exciting, one week to go!

princessmel-not a nice time for you. Try not to worry as all will be well next visit I'm sure. I found the internal I had with DD2 to be v. painful. My mum was shushing me as I was saying the MW had really hurt me as I didn't realise she was still in the room.

fidelma-hope you feel better soon and get a better night's sleep.

I have put my bags in the car as my twinges are annoying and painful. Can't work out if they are BH, or the weight of the baby on my pelvis or anything more urgent.

Laters! Big wave to all.

fidelma · 06/09/2009 00:03

princessmel I hope that you have had a better day today.

gosh it is getting close.I have been exhausted today but DH sent me off for 2 naps and then we all went out for tea.Sadly I now don't feel very tierd. What a vicious circle.

We still have alot of room sorting out to do.I will have the workmen in for the next couple of weeks. (not that we are leaving it close or anything !!!)

DD1 (9) got hold of the white company catallogue this morning and wanted to get alot of the adult clothes for herself. I had to explain that I would like alot of the adult clothes also.Me first I think ! I then sorted through her clothes with her and made up some outfits.A few accessories should sort her out.I can't believe that my 9 year old is so aware of what we all look like.I think she cringes at what her parents look like (sometimes)Well DH in tartan shorts furry crocs and a tweed jacket at a posh hotel is hard for all of us.Loads of laughs.but at least we are happy.

I am still having lots of BH but i guess this is the way now untill the birth.I wish I knew whether it was going to be 2 weeks or 6.Oh the thought of 6 more weeks could make me weep

I hope you are all well and that you are already fast asleep !!!!

rubyslippers · 06/09/2009 10:01

princessmel - hope you are ok

I had a big of a mini drama yesterday too with a bleed ... never happened before so spent the morning in hospital

all seems ok thank goodness

baby in a very awkward position - head on right hip, legs under ribs (so oblique) and back to back

HC - you sound very imminent!!!

hope everyone else is doing well - this last bit is really dragging for me too - no sleep for weeks now either

LittleMissBliss · 06/09/2009 13:32

Rubyslippers Gosh sounds scary, glad all is well! Sending some sleeping vibes your way!

Princessmel Glad to hear all is well with you too, it's always the way that as soon as your there the baby starts moving loads!

HC I really need to take a leaf out of your book i'm so disorganised. I wish my bags were all packed and ready to go, half way there!

Theboob Can't believe you'll have/be having your baby by this time next week! How exciting, enjoy your last week with your bump.

The babies room is nearly finished now and looks lovely, feels so real now..

Hopefully picking up a rocking chair tomorrow and MIL is painting some draws white for me to match the cot, so will hopefully have them by next weekend.

On the down side have a really sore back from hunching over the sewing machine but the end result was worth it!

Hope you are all well, or as well as can be expected. It's crazy that we are on the final stretch, where has the time gone???!

smallone · 06/09/2009 19:45

Hi everyone,

Ruby, that must have scared you half to death, I'm glad all is ok.

LMB sounds like you've been very busy.

I've just found out that my friend who is my life line to have dd in the event that things move quickly (my parents live about 3 hours away)has booked a holiday in 2 weeks time, so I'm hoping I don't go early. Or if I do that it all happens slow enough that my parents can get here.

HappyTangerine · 06/09/2009 20:39

Rubyslippers and princessmel- sounds scary, so glad that everything is okay. Sending you vibes for a calm, unstressful week ahead and for babues to move into comfortable positions.

Those of you decorating baby's rooms -have you used ordinary or low VOC paint?

Spent yesterday at all day ante-natal class and it was excellent, really useful. Met some great couples and DH found it to be a real help. Slightly adjusted contents of my hospital bag as a result and now feel much more confident about breastfeeding.

smallone · 06/09/2009 23:22

Blooming heck, MN is dangerous, I've been on all evening, and now look at the time!

fidelma · 06/09/2009 23:40

smallone glad that I am not the only one still up.

We bought a carpet cleaner and I had a go today on a small area.I am going to get the whole house done (I do have some help so shouldn't bring on the baby)I am quite desparate to get the babies room done but it will take 10 days, what with plumbers etc.

I am going to have a big cookin session this week.So that the freezer is full of meals for after the birth.might have to make quite a few cakes for breastfeeding mothers

smallone · 07/09/2009 08:18

Ooh fidelma, I'm desperate to clean my living room carpet, I was hoping to do it over the summer when it would dry the best but I'm guessing we're not going to get anymore hot weather. I hope you get your babies room done soon. I want to stock my freezer with meals too but there isn't alot of space in it at the mo!

Oh and cookies, I have a recipe that you make and freeze the dough in a sausage, then you chop off chunks to bake into fresh cookies as and when required. I think I'm going to make up a triple batch of this to see me through the early weeks.

hmmmn looks like I'm going to need the full 5 weeks after all!

DH is back tonight. HURRAH!

rubyslippers · 07/09/2009 08:21

morning all -

there seems to be some nesting going on - cookie baking and carpet cleaning

off to work - am finishing this week (probably by Thursday) ... just don't want to push it now

hope everyone has a good day ... seeing consultant tomorrow so will see if all the bouncing on the birth ball has shifted the baby

smallone · 07/09/2009 08:36

Hi Ruby, resting sounds like a good plan. Have a look at the spinning babies website, its got tips on how to get baby in a good position. IIRC bouncing on the birth ball gets the baby to engage but not necessarily in the best position IYSWIM.

fidelma · 07/09/2009 10:03

rubyI can't believe that you are still at work

samallone can we have the cookie recipe please.

CalypsoFlame · 07/09/2009 11:11

ruby & princessmel relieved for you both that all seems well X

boob thats so exciting that you'll be a mummy (again) this time next week! oooh good luck

My DH has got it completely stuck in his head that when I get a BH, the best solution is to rub my tummy really vigourously as if it was a calf cramp or something I actually ended up smacking his arm quite hard yesterday and shouting "THATS REALLY NOT HELPING" - he just looked really upset and baffled, and I feel really horrible. Doh.

treats had a look at the MN messaging thing and there seems to be some cheeky cost involved so if you are interested in meeting up before yoga on Thursday (and no offense if you don't!) you can email me at my cryptic work email address:
[email protected] (obviously remove the NOSPAM bit).
It would be handy if you could put 'mumsnet' and/or 'yoga' in the subject as that account has a rather fierce spam-filter and may need to root out your message, and I'll reply from my normal yahoo account with the same subject

Have a good week girls, last day off today before being back for a week at work, bah.

x
36+5 (officially can have homebirth from today onwards yay!)

LittleMissBliss · 07/09/2009 11:20

OOh I'm planning a big cook off too!

Lots of soups, Veggie cottage pie, Veggie spag bol sauce. Just need to get a new food processor as our gave up the ghost when i tried to add ice to make a smoothie.

Talking of nesting i really want all of the exterior windows washed they look so grubby, we live near the sea so cars and windows get very dirty with a mixture of sort of sand dirt. But i can't go up the ladder so need to convince dp to do it.

I have now done four loads of washing and three of ironing.

One load of baby blue, one of neutrals and one of white. Only one of colours! I have also made a huge bundle to put in the clothes recycling box, the clothes that didn't wash well and look a bit tatty, but still wearable, i can't just chuck clothes out i feel really guilty.

I have to say out of all the clothes the mothercare clothes have held up the best. They all look completely new, still really soft and no bobbling. So if this is your first and you are planning to have more it's worth investing in mothercare sleep suits.

Right better go and tidy the house toys and washing every where! Really need these draws from MIL!

smallone · 07/09/2009 12:37

calypso think of it as training for labour! I wonder what made him do that? At least he's trying to help tho, you could definitely direct him towards some relaxing massage.

I feel really yuk. Really tired and have been sick twice, and my bump seems to have shrunk. Can't wait for DH to be back. Not going to see much of him for the rest of the week tho coz he's at work and one or the other of us has something planned everynight til fri.

HappyTangerine · 07/09/2009 12:37

Back at midwife appointment today-trace protein in urine and bp 140/85. She's coming out again at end of the week to check on me but in the meantime, its straight to labour ward if I have any sudden swellling/blurred vision/headaches. Have been put on complete bed rest and can't bear it-this was the week I was planning to paint bedroom and nursery. We spoke briefly about swift induction if it IS pre-eclampsia as I'm almost at term. Doesn't feel right though, I don't feel ready at all.

princessmel · 07/09/2009 12:45

Thanks all of you

I am fine now and baby has been just as active as they usually are ever since

I am still having LOADS of BH every evening when I am sitting on the sofa. Yesterday we went to Broadstairs for the day. It was lovely, the kids had such a fantastic time but I was really tired and achey when we got home.
A few times on the journey I had a BH or the baby moved into a certain place and I really felt like I was going to wet myself! I did a wee at the side of the road too..couldn't wait!!

Ruby gosh that would really worry me too! Glad all is ok though.

I have still not packed my hospital bag, haven't bought the bits I need for it yet either. HC I hope you're ok and not had any real, proper twinges!!! Unless you want to have any....

smallone sorry you're feeling yuk
