Oh HT-hope you are OK.

smallone-look after yourself. Sorry you are being sick.

No serious twinges and don't want any. My bladder let me down big time this morning, went in the bathroom for a shower and not even aware I needed a wee until I flooded the floor-came out like a fountain.

Can't believe all of you cooking. I have never precooked before my girls and haven't this time. Can hardly face housework so the house is looking messy and dusty.

Hi to everyone else.

OMG smallone it?s a good things this is your second, as you knew they weren?t real contractions. If that had been me I think I would have gone to the hospital.

theboob wow! You might be the first one to deliver! I?m so excited for you.

ruby I don?t blame you for going on mat leave earlier than planned if you are finding the commute hard. As you had a scare with the bleed then stopping definitely is the right decision for you. Hope the baby moves into a less awkward position. I travel 45mins each way in London and it?s killing me! But I still have three weeks to go before I finish work ? can?t wait.

HC my goodness 4/5 engaged ? someone else who will be among the first, I am crossing my fingers for you.

Happy That all sounds very serious ? don?t worry about the nursery painting, just make sure you get lots and lots of rest. I hope you have time to relax and prepare for it all.

princess what a very stressful hospital visit, I hope everything goes more smoothly for you from now on.

I have just eaten TWO chocolate éclairs They were nice though. Just got back from antenatal appt, and I am anaemic which I had suspected, as I am so exceptionally tired all the time. I look really pale and washed out too. Am also measuring a little small for dates but midwife isn?t overly worried.

We went to NCT classes this weekend which were fun and informative, but very tiring. The other people there were all nice and we got along well so I am looking forwards to spending some time with the other mums both before and after the babies arrive.

Can?t believe how fast time is going ? like others here I don?t feel ready and I have been feeling quite depressed about the prospect of being a mum. I?m dreading losing my independence and worry I?m not going to be any good at it. All normal feelings in first timers though I am sure.

BellaCullen · 07/09/2009 15:10

the boob how exciting to think you`ll have a baby by this time next week.

HT hope the bed rest will help and dont worry about nursery baby wont notice anyway and will be in your room in beginning.

princessmel its typicall that baby started moving as soon as you got to hospital had that with dd last time round.Glad baby`s now moving loads.

HC 4/5 engaged sounds like you`ll be one of the first with theboob.

Never bothered precooking either will just get DP to cook.Doing cookie dough sounds good idea though can we have the recipe please smallone?

Been feeling quite good last week not pregnant at all which worried me a bit but baby still active so that`s relieve.Getting loads of BH too its all practice for real thing, can hurt quite a bit sometimes though.
Off to get DS now was his first day in year 3 lets hope he had good day, time goes so quickly only seems like yesterday that I had him.

DevilsAdvocaat · 07/09/2009 17:13

sorry to you lot who aren't feeling well and ruby and PM who had scary hosp visits. these babies keep us on our toes!

hackneybird, thse feeling very normal for this point. also isn't just first timers, have been getting those 'oh my god i'm not going to cope/not ready for this baby/not looking forward to bfing' thoughts. however, they seem to come in the evening when i'm most tired. i remember with ds thinking the same at the end of my pg. feeling so tired getting up for the loo in the nght and thinking that soon i'd be up feeding a baby, how would i cope? however, it is so different when your actual baby is there. you can move more easily without your bump and although you're tired, you don't feel so fed up iykwim. i hope that makes sense.

have 36 week appt on fri. looking forward to it. trying to keep busy with cleaning the house.

happytang i was the same at 36 weeks with ds. bp 140/90 for the last 3 1/2 weeks and they finally induced 2 days before due date when my protein went up to 2+. the induction worked first time and ds was born in 8 hours even though i didn't feel ready. i'm not sure you ever feel ready! hope you aren't feeling to ill with it.

wow! hc 4/5! no wonder that you had a fountain experience. my lo is only just about engaged and i feel a lot of pressure down there!

i have a growth scan booked for 38 weeks, can't wait to see baby again. will have to make sure they don't mention the sex now i've waited this long!

MeHimCatBlob · 07/09/2009 19:57

just catching up and have absolutely no recollection of all that i have just read so all the best to you if you aren't feeling great.

DH's op went fine but the appointment with the consultant isnt until 3 days before my due date (he needs the consultanct to sign him off to drive again!) so we are trying to bring that forward for obvious reasons.

in laws have been here for 5 days looking after DP but i end up running round after them as i feel so guilty about them being guests here and then not doing anything (they dont expect me to but i feel so bad doing nothing).- never thought i could get any more tired but it seems to be possible

take care all and hope you all have a good, pain free week

smallone · 08/09/2009 14:48

Hi all, much better today, well I was until I stupidly decided to go out. DH has taken the car so I thought dd and I could catch the bus into town to go to playgroup. She's never been on the bus before so I thought it sounded like a good plan. Except I was cutting it fine and the bus was a couple of minutes early so we just saw it whoosh past the end of the road. GRRR got to the bus stop and the next one was 50 mins later so I thought we might as well walk. A bit overambitious but we got there eventually, missed playgroup but went to the park instead and then got the bus back. Its the walk back from the bus stop that seems to have done me in. I feel like my pelvis is broken. DD's had a good day tho and we've both had plenty of exercise, I think we must have walked about 3 miles.

ballio · 08/09/2009 15:41

Hi All

Not posted for a while, mainly because my internet only works when it feels like it

Been for my 36 week growth scan today and baby girl is weighing 8lb7 already!!! in a slight state of shock as wanted a VBAC. The water levels have also increased. does anyone know what that means?? vaguely remember THEBOOB mentioning something about water levels.

Got a consultant appointment on fri, i want to be induced really to give me the best opportunity to have a VBAC but they may not let me, what you think???

theboob · 08/09/2009 16:41

hello
ballio I have increased fluid levels but they have gone down 2cm in 4 weeks, it can be a sign of GD , I had a GTT test but all was normal, my consultant said It can develope later in the pregnancy and as I'm showing sugar in my urine this is pos the case now , his reason's for induction are that the risk of premature labour are high with polyhydromnsis and also cord prolapse , he would rather I was in hospital for this, I had this with ds2 and while in labour had irritable uterus which can make you bleed more than normal , hope this helps

I'm all ready for sunday now but i'm also petrified at the same time as excited!

smallone It's so hard walking now , I think a hot bath to ease your hip's is on the cards now

hope everyone else is ok I cant remember what I just read

ballio · 08/09/2009 16:56

Hi, thanks theboob, that helps. I had GTT at 28 weeks and all was fine too! i have also had possible irritable uterus as at 32 weeks i was getting braxton hicks every 3 minutes and had to be checked out at hospital but wasnt in labour. cord prolapse sounds scary.
seeing consultant on Fri so will see what she thinks
Good luck for sunday! theboob

Hope everyone else well!!

rubyslippers · 08/09/2009 17:12

sorry not read thread but just been for scan and baby BREECH!!!

am going for an ECV tomorrow so i need lots of turning vibes as i really don't want a section

will catch up on thread now

x

lal123 · 08/09/2009 20:26

oh ruby! All the best for tomorrow with the ECV - sending unmnlike vibes to you.

I haven't been in on the thread for a while - sorry to hear about all the trials and tribulations folk are going through - pretty boring here by comparison!

I've been having fortnightly mw visits since 20 weeks - have been measuring consistently big - but now just 1.5 cm over - so who cares??!! I sometimes think that all this over medicalisation just worries us - what with bps/gtts/gd/fundal heights etc etc.

anyway - starting to feel a bit more organised - just have to hope pushchair arrives on time and that we manage to find the car seat we're looking for! Have been picking up bits and pieces for baby - but have no where near as much stuff as for DD1!

tc allxx

theboob · 08/09/2009 22:15

ruby turning vibes for you for tommorow

princessmel · 08/09/2009 22:43

I hope baby turns Ruby!!!

We got the baby clothes down from the loft tonight. Made me feel a bit odd. Sad that I can't use dd's bits too.

I have only left out what I still like, the rest is going to charity. It is coming up for 7 years old. Most of the babygros and hats etc are fine. And there are some trousers, tops and cardigans etc.
We actually only need to buy a few more vests, that's it.

We have a gorge John Rocha sheepskin snowsuit we bought for ds and he only wore it once. We got 0-3m and he was born in Jan and by the time he was big enough to go in it, it was too warm!!

Need to buy my pouch sling too. Still can't decide between a hotslings or a Lifft but am swaying towards the Lifft. Then need to decide between the cream and coffee! Cream will get dirtier, but is more sublte and the coffee a more practical colour but has a red bit on the front. Which is still ok...can't decide!
I am thinking I will use this most when collecting dd from nursery at lunchtime. Where we park you only need to walk a little way, but it's still a walk, and I think putting the baby in the pouch will be quicker and easier than getting the buggy out each time for a 10 min trip.
I am going to walk to school with the pram for the morning and afternoon collections though.

Can't remember anything else , hope you're all ok

OP posts:
fidelma · 08/09/2009 22:46

Ruby thinking of you let us know how you get on.

Bathroom being ripped out tomorrow, Fitted on Monday and bathroom and room painted on Tues and then curtains, cot etc in on Thurs so then I would like a few days peace and then a baby. (if only!!!)

With DD1 I had read The Book That we Must Not Mention and fully expected my new born to fit into all the routines.

(just like I expect the decorating to go to plan !!!)

However I am now very experienced with both builders and babies so I know that nothing will go to plan lol (do I sound a little mad?)

CalypsoFlame · 09/09/2009 08:45

ruby lots of positive turning thoughts for you both! the spinning babies website has a fair amount of information on it too. Fingers crossed! X

Glad I'm not the only one in a whirlwind of DIY madness, when I get back from work I'm torn between getting the sander and paint brushes out or practicing the HypnoBirthing techniques!

HT hope that the bedrest is doing you lots of good X

twinklegreen · 09/09/2009 09:13

Hi everyone, haven't posted for ages, I do catch up with everyone elses post every day though so I still feel like I'm in the loop

Ruby sending you lots of turning vibes today, hope the ECV isn't too uncomfortable.

princessmel My Lifft sling is black with a little bit of a green trim, which is a very practical colour as most of my clothes are black! They don't seem to do that colour combo anymore, I would go for the Vanilla myself, but I know what you mean about it getting dirty. Decisions decisions...

Well not much news from me really. Am I the only one who doesn't have their fundal height measured? I have with the other two but midwife doesn't seem to be doing it this time

My original due date is today so I'm half expecting to go into labour I'm all ready now anyway although I'm a bit concerned that I am feeling a bit too good at the moment for the end to be imminent, I remember feeling alot more crappy towards the end with the last two! I'm just really hoping this baby arrives in the next 2 and a half weeks and I don't go overdue.

I have decided to use some of my HIP grant to have a few accupuncture sessions in the run up to my due date to help get things going, I'm really not that good with needles but am willing to give anything a go. If that doesn't work I'm booked in for a stretch and sweep on the 29th Sept and then induction on 10th Oct.

I'm going away this weekend for husbands graduation in Newport (We live in North Yorkshire) I'm not sure what I was thinking when I arranged it so close to my due date, but it's too late to back out now

Anyway, must go. I run a mums and tots group on Wednesday mornings.

boob Hope everything goes well on Sunday, I will be excitedly checking for news on Monday morning

smallone · 09/09/2009 09:26

Sending lots of Head Down thoughts!

Fidelma, yes you sound just about as mad as me

Twinkle does seem a bit strange about the non measurement, perhaps they have their reasons?

Very exciting that we'll have some babies on the thread soon!

All of a sudden I'm getting the sense of panic that comes with an impending baby. I feel like I've got 3 million things to do and no time in which to do it.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 09/09/2009 10:16

Smallone - I'm with you on the sense of panic...its not great, and I'm trying to keep it in check, but there just seems to be endless amounts to do, and all by DH at the moment so I'm even more out of control.

I keep trying to tell myself that if I can keep motivated to do whatever I can (washing, cleaning, etc) then hopefully DH will catch up.

Jobs left to do:

  • Finish decorating DS new bedroom
  • Carpet fitting Tues next week (yay!)
  • Get new chest of drawers and build it
  • Move DS out of nursery and into new bedroom
  • Wash remaining baby clothes, bedding etc and put away
  • Unpack all baby stuff into nursery
  • Get pushchair, car seat, autobase, swing etc from attic, clean and determine if we need new (I know it seems late, but there's really no room for it till DS new room is put back together!)
  • Buy baby bouncer chair
  • Finish working out whats not in my labour bag, that should be
  • Find the baby toys (not essential till after birth admittedly)
  • Choose and buy curtain pole for DS new room
  • Listen to hypnobirthing CD
  • Try to get this breech baby to turn
  • Try to find time to get rest

I'm not panicking honest!

HappyTangerine · 09/09/2009 10:34

Ruby sending lots of turning vibes for you

Sparkly-if you're able to get to a swimming pool with someone, try doing some handstands in the water, I'm convinced this is what helped my little one turn when he was breech.

Firstly big thanks for all the messages of support. Rest was doing me the world of good until I developed itching on the palms of myu hands late last night, only releived by holding ice cubes. Rang mw this morning and I'm booked into the pregnancy assessment unti for 3pm to have baby monitered and all the liver/bile acid tests for OC. I should get results by 6pm so fingers crossed it is nothing but as I'm now over 37 weeks, we can't mess about. The itching only lasted for an hour or so but I want to be on the safe side. Am going alone as well and feel a bit vulnerable-DH has a judicial review to get through today and he can't leave work

Hope to be back with good news later tonight, until then, take care all.x

princessmel · 09/09/2009 10:43

HT hope the test goes well. What is OC ?

Sparkly gosh your list is very impressive!!

Mine is

  • buy baskets to go in babys wardobe , for vests and sleepsuits. We have no drawers in there.
  • find baby gym/mat and bath in loft (not essential till baby is here)
  • Put dd in ds's room. Can't do that till bunkbed is here. Then we can bring cot and change table down from the loft.
  • Buy maternity pads and breast pads, pack hospital bag.

The pram and carseat is washed and waiting in loft. As is the bouncy seat and rocking crib.

Having ym haircut today, I hope she doesn't cut too much off my fringe again like last time....

Hope you're all well. 34 weeks today.

OP posts:
LittleMissBliss · 09/09/2009 11:58

I have a cold.

Rubbish.

I was ment to see the midwife at 11am yesterday but she called at 9am to suggest that she came to me at 1.30pm instead as she needs to swap my notes as i am delivering in the hospital that ds was born in (as it's so much nicer). Our local hospital doesn't have the best reputation.

She then called at 1.30pm to say that she was running late and wouldn't be coming. I can't see her now until Friday.

my list consists of,

-buy materity pads, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel. Then finish packing hospital bag.

-collect drawers from MIL's and pack away all the washed and ironed clothes in size order.

-collect rocking chair from my Dad's who is painting it white some time in the next two weeks for me as i can't face anymore painting.

-buy a rug and lampshade for the babies room.

That's it really. Car seat is washed and down from loft along with carry cot attachment for the quinny, play mat, baby toys, clothes, cot. et. double buggy is parked in the front room. (I still haven't learnt how to fold it down or tried to see if it fits in my boot)

Think I may book a hair cut too princessmel before the baby arrives.

36+2

LittleMissBliss · 09/09/2009 12:00

HT Hope it all goes well today.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 09/09/2009 12:11

P Mel - Haircut - now there's something else I need to book in, just a quick trim and tidy to see me through a few weeks after this little one arrives.

HT - sorry to hear about tests etc later today, I know what you mean about feeling vulnerable about being on your own, sure all will be fine though

What has everyone got in their labour bags?

So far I've just put one pack of maternity towels and one box of breast pads - I'm sure I didn't use many till about day three or four last time, when my milk came in...but DH can always bring extras.

Wash kit (which I'm rather proud of, having bought about 100 unnecessary but useful mini bottles from asda!) incl. hairband, hairbrush, mirror, contact lenses, glasses, toothbrush, toothpaste, medications, hand cream, mouthwash, deodorant, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, face wash, face scrub, face moisturiser... God knows when I think I'll have the energy / motivation to use that lot but it'll come in handy post birth too!!

Labour nightie and post-birth pyjamas, some knickers....errmmmm Think I've also stuffed a spare outfit in there for afterwards...

So far, only one baby outfit (vest, hat, scratch mitts and babygro), and just a small handful of newborn nappies - should I take a whole pack or let DH bring them in?

Labour notes....

I'm planning on adding my breastfeeding bras, a towel for me and some more baby clothes when I've washed them. I've got a couple of bottles of energy drink too.

What else? Crikey, you wouldn't think I'd done this before would you!

princessmel · 09/09/2009 12:18

Sparkly , I'd add another pack of maternity towels just in case. You can get through them quite quickly in the beginning.

Plus another labour nightie/t shirt . I was sick on both of mine with ds. Wore a hospital gown by the end as had an epidural. Gown with dd as epidural again.

And I'd remove the face scrub!

Hope you feel better LMB
