Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BellaCullen · 29/08/2009 16:00

Littlepea72 and theboob hope you`re both ok.

Feeling quite hormonal at moment as dont like name we picked any more.We settled on Nathan now but seem to hear it everywhere and that put me off it. Also SIL stuck her nose in saying she prefers this than Nathaniel anyway.Just made me want to shake her and find a name that she would hate.Must be hormones as normally get on well with her but just found it a stupid comment to make as up to us what name we choose. Really like Noah now but DP just makes stupid jokes with that and tries to ignore me as he says def just hormones.Just dont want to have DS and then have no name.
Sorry to rant just need hormones to calm down.Thank god only 5 weeks to go want my body back.

fidelma · 29/08/2009 18:12

Lovely bump pictures. We had a great float in the swimming pool and bribed the girls to do lengths.£1 for 15 yes we are cruel parents!but worth it for the peace the rest of the day.The children have been gathering firewood so we are now off outside to build a fire and toast marshmallows.Enjoy your evening.

HumphreysCorner · 30/08/2009 12:49

Hello ladies

Gosh, it is so warm but the pesky wasps and flies really get me down when I venture outside. Have made an apple crumble and some bun cakes. Struggling to get much food down as it gets stuck just below my boobs.

DevilsAdvocaat-all is well with DH at the moment thank goodness as I can't do with falling out again between now and the birth.

35 week bump pic

Can't believe I only have 4 weeks and 2 days to go.

Enjoy the Bank Holiday ladies.

LittleMissBliss · 30/08/2009 16:11

I've been getting period like pains today and have had loose bowel movements.

Hope its not the start of something..... I'll just be 35 weeks tomorrow and DP is on holiday until Thursday. So it's just me and DS. It's only been four days and I'm already shattered. Ds keeps asking if it's 'daddy?' every time the door rattles in the wind or he hears a van pulling up! Bless him.

Lovely bump pictures!

Theboob Are you measuring so large because of all the extra fluid? I remember you mentioning you had a condition that made you produce more fluid. Hope you hang on a few more weeks until your induction.

Mrskitty Hope you are feeling less shaken, any news on the witness? I really hope it goes in your favour.

fidelma · 30/08/2009 21:57

HC great bump, you look very neat I think you would die if you saw me.I am usualy 8.7 stone and DS was 10lb so not a pretty site.I actually don't know where the rest of this baby is going to go !!!! And I get soooooooo sore. 35 weeks on Tuesday.love the thought of 3 weeks and feel ill if I think about 7.I have bought some RL tea but can't face it.When you need tea you need tea not RL !!!!

Outside fire was a great success (even if I did just want to snuggle on the sofa)I will never forget the children all sitting warming their toes.(DH and I also)We started making up a song about 50 little toes but I was thinking there are 60 little toes majical moment.(sorry for being soppy I'm pregnant!!)Well everyone at school tomorrow so back to normal, probably lots of homework oh joy.

littlepea72 · 31/08/2009 08:18

Hey everyone

MrsKitty hope you are ok after your car accident, what a worry for you, thank god you weren't hurt!

Ruby what must you have felt like, an extra week at work would of made me break down and cry!

LittleMiss im getting those period type pains too, i got them with my first pregnancy also, just normal but sometimes very sore!

Got my tests back for the diabetes, im borderline which is ok, i will just have to go to the hospital to see someone about my diet now, so it could of been alot worse. Im always thirsty & dehyrated so it explains alot.
On Tuesday i ended up getting the midwife out to my house, thought i was going to have to get ambulance out. The baby has this habbit of getting into a certain place on each of my sides, it is so sore but this time was really bad. Managed to lie down on bed, then knew i had to phone someone, but phone was downstairs. It took me half an hour to make my way there, my DS was out the back and couldnt hear me shouting. So much crying!! MW came round straight away just as pain was going, gave me a look over & strong painkillers. She said that its a really big baby & she is settling down on one of my nerves, but she wouldnt move! Then i started to get a couple of strong contractions again. I can feel that she is bigger than my DS was, but my bump is really small, so she doesnt have much room. Bit worried about that, my bump was twice the size with DS. Just happy that we dont have long to go, you can put up with alot when you know its going to be over soon lol.....

MrsKitty · 31/08/2009 10:19

Hope everyone's enjoying their Bank holiday weekend...I've been at work all weekend and still am today but finish work for at least a year at the end of this week so WooHooooooo!!!!

Thanks everyone for being concerned re: my accident...Still no news from the insurers on what the witness has reported...TBH at this point I'd be happy enough if they just found us both at fault - at least I'd get half my excess back then (from what I understand) - would still mess up my no claims, but hey ho.

fidelma sounds like you've had a lovely couple of days. Am very at the thought of toasted marshmallows - particularly in my current sugar deprived state!

Littlepea Hope you're feeling better - sounds like you had a bit of a scare

LMB hope you're feeling OK - hate it when my husband's away for work at the moment - I've banned him from going further than 2 hours away as of next week

Devils Can I have some of your nesting instict please? Can't believe you've decorated - I can barely be bothered to cook (never mind clean!) at the moment

Now that we've found out the sex of the baby I plan to have a major clear out of all my 'boy' stuff during my first week off work - there's an NCT nearly new sale near me at the end of that week so hopefully I'll raise some cash to fund the obsession I will no doubt develop with dressing up my little girl!

MeHimCatBlob · 31/08/2009 19:28

Hi all

just checking up as my PC has been offline for 2 weeks with a virus (then found out that DP hadnt bothered to renew his antivirus software for 4 years since he brought it or downloaded any updates!)

then ended up spending Fri nite in hospital as had been suffering with pre-eclampsia symptoms for a few days - after all that I'm fine as my BP is very low and the other symptoms are apparently normal during pregnancy - was discharged on Sat am after the consultanct said i was fine but the baby seems small for its age (32 wks) . Got home and and then called by hospital about 30mins later as they had 'forgotten' to monitor the baby before i left so had to go back for another 45mins - at least everything was fine and the baby got hiccups when it was being monitored but a little frustrating all the same.

DP has a knee op tomorrow so i will be playing nursemaid as he's offwork for 2 weeks and his parents arrive this weekend for 4 days - so much for taking it easy,

anyway, enough moaning - hope everyone had a good bank holiday (sorry if you had to work) and are feeling as well as can be expected.

smallone · 31/08/2009 21:59

Hi everyone, hope you had a good bank holiday. Littlepea, I had something similar last tues, I assume the baby was in a funny position, but it was agony. I was sobbing in pain and couldn't move. The only position that was comfortable was lying on my left side. Was starting to worry that my scar was splitting. Had a bath and lay on my left side for a while with some paracetamol and that seemed to ease it off a bit. Then I went swimming and that seemed to get the baby to sort itself out. Really painful tho, worse than contractions I reckon. At least they're only temporary! I just hope it wasn't the baby turning breech. Got a mw appt tomorrow and am doing my birth plan.

HappyTangerine · 31/08/2009 23:46

Hi, hope you've all had a good Bank Holiday. Its been a wash out here but we've been busy decorating/sorting nursery.DH put cot up and it looks massive! Giant jungle stickers should arrive tomorrow, looking forward to putting them on [big kid icon].We're having a late wobbly on names as well, with Joseph and Isaac making the list.

I am so tired, finding it v difficult to sit or lie in one position for v long. Not long to go though-I'm getting quite impatient!Swollen feet and ankles really getting me down-have gone up a shoe size and am wearing DVT/flight socks to make things a bit more comfy. Thanks for the vest top advice, I much prefer wearing them to bras so will stick with them. Habe got hospital bag all packed now

How are everyone's cravings? Mine still as bad as ever-am getting through a 2kg bag of ice every 2 days. They even ask at my local Tesco Express if I need some...every time I go in

MeHimCatBob - so glad it wasn't pre-eclampsia and you and the baby are ok. Good luck to your DH for op tomorrow.

theboob-How scary for you, hope you're ok

Mrs Kitty- hope you're ok now and that the witness comes out in your favour.

LittlePea & smallone -hope pain has gone now.I've been through similar pains twice in the last few weeks. The first time was baby turning breech, the second was when he turned back!

PrincessMel - poor you with HV, not what you need. Glad she rang to apologise. I'm another one measuring big for dates, roughly 2 weeks. I look huge and feel it! I may be having scan on Wednesday, not sure yet-its mainly to check position of baby. Saw lovely mw last week who said different bits of a baby grow at different times and it usually evens out in the end.

smallone How is your DH doing?

Big wave to everyone x

theboob · 01/09/2009 09:22

hello everyone , hope yoy all had a brilliant BH weekend

have noticed these past few days that baby's movements have slowed down , have scan on friday to measure the fluid again , midwife measured me 2 times and student midwife and all got the same measurement of 41 , I will try and put a bump picture on today , I feel as if I'm about to pop ! should get my induction date on friday so fingers crossed it will all be over soon
princessmel , hope your ok now
smallone, good luck for your DH
LMB hope your getting enough rest with DP being away

hope everyone else is ok

sammysam · 01/09/2009 09:36

Morning everyone! Hope you have all had a great weekend.

I've just caught up and can't remember a thing

Big hugs to all feeling bad/ill/uncomfortable/sore/measuring big etc etc (prob most of us!) and for the car accident, dh'd/dp's struggling-I hope that covers it all

I'm REALLY struggling to breathe at teh moment-mainly due to the baby and low bp but I now also have a nasty cold and my nose is blocked. I'm feeling almost claustrophobic and it makes me panic. The baby had better wait til I can at least breathe throught the contractions!!! 3wks 5 days til my due date now

I'm so uncomfy now-painful to do most things-even sit!
At least we got a whole load of stuff down from the loft yesterday-didn't find some stuff but all the important stuff accounted for! Most of it has had to go back up due to the lack of space and have a massive pile of washing to do.

I look quite small I think-but know the baby is quite big from the scans and the amount of pain!!!

Pissed off with the midwife who keeps changing my appt. this week. Was supposed to be here now but now coming on fri. So can't sort out any home birth stuff til the weekend now. Plus she is really annoying-I haven't met her yet but she 'should' be here when i'm in labour-I think I might end up unching her if she says 'my lovely' after every word when i'm in labour

HumphreysCorner · 01/09/2009 09:39

Morning all

36 weeks today, have packed the girls' suitcases this morning and I am going to carry these and the hospital bag in the car with me. Too hot and uncomfortable to sleep. Pooing is getting much worse so my body must be having a clearout. Now it is September it means that my boy could be born this month. theboob-your baby will anyway.

Hope you have all had a great weekend. The weather is about to get worse so hopefully may cool as well.

Take care ladies!

Treats · 01/09/2009 10:29

Hi everyone. Off work with the worst cold in the world at the moment. It's day three of this cold and I don't usually get them for more than about two. Hoping to use the time to catch up on some sleep - finding it really hard to sleep through the night now and am absolutely knackered. I eventually got up at 3am this morning and sat and did some work on the computer instead. Feeling quite pleased that it's done but wish I coud have slept instead.

Will have only a week and a half at work left once I go back tomorrow. Feels like I've been looking forward to going on mat leave for years, but now that it's nearly here, I feel a bit weird. It's only just beginning to hit me what a huge task we're taking on [overawed emoticon].

Finally bought the pram last week - iCandy Cherry - and won a matching carrycot on ebay. Also got a second hand BabyBjorn. DH was practicing with it using a teddy bear while I was on the phone to my mum. She was a bit alarmed to hear my shrieks when he dropped it on the floor. DH looked soooo cute with it on though......

Had NCT class on Saturday. Met 7 other really nice couples who we'll be able to keep in touch with as our babies come out. Don't think I learned much more than I had at our NHS class, but really we went more for the social side. The teacher encouraged us to have a good think about the merits of a home birth which - obviously - the hospital class didn't. She was a bit shocked that none of us had had the opportunity to discuss the merits of a home birth with our midwives. It's obviously got a lot of good points but tbh I wouldn't have much confidence in our community midwives. I've seen a different one for each of my three appointments, and each appointment has been little more than a box ticking exercise. It hasn't bothered me much because I've had a trouble free pregnancy but I remember getting quite upset when I couldn't get through to anyone on the phone once. I just don't think I could rely on anyone being available when I went into labour if I asked for a home birth.......

Sorry to hear about all the ailments and hope you're all being looked after. I know that I've been lucky in being able to sail through until this point, but I'm getting some major aches and pains now, so I sympathise with you all.

Scary to think that some of us will be mothers (again) by the end of this month . I'm 35 weeks tomorrow.

idreamofbeanie · 01/09/2009 11:40

Hi ladies,

I've been so so busy this weekend trying to get everything finished up at work. Thankfully I finish on Friday - hooray . I am really looking forward to some rest and relaxation for a couple of weeks. At the same time I can't get my head around the fact I'll be 37 weeks on Sunday which means the baby could arrive any time - it still feels like the birth is months away. Hopefully once I get finished here it will all seem more real.

Treats - for rotten cold. I had one a couple of weeks ago and took much longer than usual to shift it. Glad your NCT class was good - I felt the same, I didn't learn much but met some nice people and we have already met for dinner and for an NCT BUmps and Babes coffee morning thing.

HC - our babies could def arrive this month! I'll join you in an eek!

Sammysam - hope your midwife sorts herself out. What a pain.

Boob - how exciting getting your induction date!

Sorry - that's all I can remember. Take care x.

princessmel · 01/09/2009 11:47

Hi all,

Only 2 days left till ds is back at school ( 3 for dd) I am not looking forward to getting a load of 'huge' comments when I go back to doing the school run. From the mums that haven't seen me all summer.

I am really feeling quite tired and slow and achey now.
This weekend we made great progress with the dc's room.
Dh finished the painting, and fitted and painted some skirting boards. He also built a wardrobe for dd and moved loads of furniture. We couldn't put up the new shelves as after opening them, we noticed that they are slightly damaged . Very annoying!

I had real trouble getting to sleep last night. I had horrible restless legs again and was very tearful. The book I am reading is sad and not atall apropriate as it invloves a dead newborn I didn't know this when I started it, plus dh had Titanic on and I burst into tears at the bit when the mum is tucking in her 2 children and reading them a story as the boat is sinking
Then I was wailing and crying and going on about what a horrible, rubbish mummy I am and I just couldn't fall asleep. So I read a book about giving birth for a while then I calmed down. phew!! I can't cope with these hormones for much longer.

I think when the dc's are back at school I will be able to rest more.

I still haven't made a start on my hospital bag. I think when the dc's room is all done, we can bring the cot down and the babies things down and then I'll pack the bag. I will buy the pads, and sanitary towels soon though.

Still having loads of BH. Sometimes, the pressure on my bump is so tight it really feels like everything will just go pop and I will have a flood in my knickers!!

Sorry some of you have had some painful baby turning epidodes. I haven't had those yet and don't fancy one either! This baby is head down..at the moment.

33 weeks tomorrow.

Hope you're ok.

x

LittleMissBliss · 01/09/2009 13:56

Princessmel I was also watching titanic but had to turn off the telly when it came to the actual sinking part, my stomach became all knotted and i knew i would cry!

Period pains have eased allot over the past few days. They aren't painful as such, just a dull ache.

Only a few more days until dp is back. Will appreciate him so much more when he gets home. I don't know how the forces mum's cope around here with there dh's gone for 4+ months at a time.

We didn't manage to get the Ikea trip sorted before dp left for his holiday but the room has been cleared and the cot is up. Hopefully we will get all the bedding and accessories this weekend as i have managed to book it off.
We weren't initially going to paint the room but have decided that i want to paint it now, not sure how dp will take it as this will be the third time that we will have painted it in two years! Luckily it's only a small room so shouldn't take too long.

I popped into to primark yesterday to get some big knickers for after the birth that i don't mind chucking out and nightie. I would recommend their nighties as they are pretty practical as they have a button down bit at the top so suitable for breastfeeding and there are lots of options! I also picked up two new pj bottoms and some thermal pj's for the week/s after birth where the last thing i want to be doing is getting dressed during the day.

I said that i would pack my hospital bag at 35 weeks but still haven't got around to doing it. I have a few bits but not everything yet. Oh well.

theboob · 01/09/2009 16:31

will catch up more later , have put recent bump picture on profile , I need more skin

BellaCullen · 01/09/2009 18:20

The boob lovely bump picture,it looks very low down dont think youll have much more time to wait. And I remember baby`s move less before birth.

Sorry to those who have a cold how annoying to get it so late in pregnancy.

LittleMissBliss glad your DH is back soon.

Been having strong BH all weekend thought might go into labour sadly not.Cant wait for labour to start now but still need to work 2 1/2 weeks so he better stays put a bit longer.Exciting to think some of us might have the baby soon. Am having problems sleeping too and am knackered did have a nap this afternoon couldnt have coped otherwise, this is advantage of working as childminder can rest when little one is napping.
Ds not back at school till next monday so will just relax this week but still need to get him some school shoes.
35+4 weeks

rubyslippers · 01/09/2009 19:58

hello all

I keep losing this thread ... so need to try to catch up again

i am knackered too ... baby is active all day - does this baby ever sleep?!

i think next week may have to be my last week at work - don't think i can cope much longer as am 35 weeks now

hope everyone is ok - seems to be lots of talk of BH and niggles ... some of us may be earlier than October?!

x

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 01/09/2009 20:21

Hi all,

Lost this thread for a while. Really good to hear how you are all doing. Strangely comforting to know others are knackered, sore and fed up.

Main issues for me are back ache if standing too long. The baby regularly punches me in the cervix which is interesting, particularly in meetings. It also seems to do a lot of rolling around. I think my bump is smaller than last time but everyone else thinks I am massive.

Looking forward to being able to bend forward again.

Am on maternity leave from 1st Oct, due 15th.

Blob - my DH had a hip op last September so I feel your pain with looking after a patient. He recovered v quickly though. Although looking after a patient is not ideal when pg! Hope you get lots of help.

littlepea72 · 02/09/2009 08:51

Hey all....my DH has had to go back to Northern Ireland today, his uncle died a couple of days ago. So im left here on my own, without a car (he has had to drive to Amsterdam for flight), and the phone is now not working....cant stop laughing, if im going to go early, now is the time its going to happen!

Its always good to hear that other people are going through the same things as you, pains etc. Means its all very normal! Right....thats DH out off the country, DS back at school, im off to bed for a nap lol....

smallone · 02/09/2009 09:26

Don't laugh littlepea, it might set you off! Dh is off to france fri to mon so I'm going to be paranoid about every twinge I'm sure!

Did my birth plan with my midwife yesterday. She's given me a few top tips to avoid constant monitoring (claim you need a wee and then lock yourself in the loo for 20 mins) etc and put my mind at rest about a few of the horror stories of VBACs. Just got to see my obs in two weeks and make sure he agrees. Not sure what will happen if I go overdue yet.

Had inlaws here for the weekend and surprisingly I haven't wanted to kill MIL. Definitely helped that they stayed in a hotel. Even DH said it was nice to have the beginning and end of the day as a bit of breathing space. Just got to try and convince them to do it again!

34+3

smallone · 02/09/2009 09:29

Thanks for asking about DH, he's much better this week. I've been forcing him to read some birth info and he came with me to midwife yesterday, he came over a bit emotional but I think it's helped. He's a bit forgetful and tired still so I'm keeping an eye on him as I know these are symptoms of depression but I'm hoping this weekend in france will do him some good.

kowaikiwi · 02/09/2009 16:13

Hi all
I'm still at work and probably far too busy for someone almost 35 weeks but it's meant I haven't been able to keep up with you all on here.
I've done some reading and just wanted to say thanks for the tips about Primark and the cheap nighties etc as that's next on my list to get.
I've also ordered some raspberry leaf tea, I'll try anything to make it easier!

I'm finishing work next Fri 11th, I'm due 10 Oct so I'm looking forward to the rest in between but not sure what I'm going to do all day! Unfortunately I've had to stop walking because everything aches too much (not to mention the breathlessness), especially at night when the pain in my hips stops me sleeping. So I really do feel like a fat, lazy lump. I'd love the weather to hold out so I can sit outside and read a book.
Is anyone else worried about not getting in enough exercise? The MW worried me at the class yest when she emphasised that they don't call it 'labour' for nothing and it will be the hardest day's work you'll ever do. I'm usually really fit so really feel like I've hit the bottom, it's going to be such a hard climb back afterwards, especially as I'm getting married next July!

Sorry to hear some of your other halves are having a hard time. It's not easy out there in some businesses and I know how hard it can be when you're in a job you don't like, not to mention with a psycho, hormonal woman at home and a baby on the way! We own a small business which the other half manages but it means he works ridiculous hours, 6 days a week and I never see him! I've warned him about the help I'll need when the baby comes and he's promised me he will take one day off a week. ONE DAY?!!! My family are all on the other side of the world so I'm going to be reliant on MIL(to-be). Thank goodness we get on OK, she just doesn't know what she's in for with her kind offers of help!

Anyway, sorry for jumping in after so long and venting a bit.

Hope you're all doing OK. Will try and get on here a bit more over the coming weeks, it's so good to hear about everyone's experiences.
