Littleblessing · 14/08/2009 10:33

Fanjita
I have also had this several times in this pregnancy - last time was at about 27 weeks, I am now 30 +4. Was absolutely nothing to worry about but I did get checked and would recommend that you do - it will put your mind at rest. Mine was also around times of lots of stress so could be a connection there.

Take care all - not long now. xx

Fanjita · 14/08/2009 12:13

Thanks Lix and LittleBlessing, have rung the hospital and will be going in for assessment at 2pm. The baby has been doing some really odd movements the last few nights like he's scraping his knee or elbow along the inside of my belly and as my placenta is at the front I'm hoping he's just knocked a bit off as it's old blood.

Thanks again.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 14/08/2009 12:51

Fanjita - glad you're getting checked out, let us know how you get on won't you?

princessmel · 14/08/2009 12:57

Fanjita
I was going to say you should get it checked out, then saw that you are doing that already!

I'm sure it's to do with the placenta.

I am off to a wedding this afternoon.

Have started a thread on the dress as am worried it's too short!!
Now that my bump sticks out so much more than when I last wore it!!!

OP posts:
MrsKitty · 14/08/2009 19:30

Evening all

Had a 32 week scan yesterday - was booked because my placenta was touching my cervix at the 20 wk scan. Good news - placenta has moved, so no more worries there!

Baby is apparently on the 97th percentile (DS was 9lb 6 so this isn't a huge surprise to me, but now I've got to have the glucouse tolerance test next week to confirm no gestational diabetes.

I finally gave in to temptation and asked to know the sex.... We're having a GIRL! Had convinced myself we were having another boy so it took me a while yesterday to get my head round the idea of having a girl (still feels a bit odd today, but very exciting nonetheless!) Obviously immediately after my scan I popped into a few shops to buy some girl clothes - had an hour spare before starting work & couldn't resist .

I'm having horrendous pain in the front of my thighs and in my pelvis - it's at its worst when I'm at work -I really don't want to have to go sick before my leave but I'm not sure I'll last the next 3 weeks either...

littlemissbliss I too am proudly displaying enormous cankles / feet - had to buy new shoes as none of my old ones would fit !

Fanjita hope all goes well with your assessment.

Have a good weekend all

Fanjita · 14/08/2009 21:04

Thanks for your posts. The CTG (?) where they monitor the baby's heartbeat and movements was really good. I then had to have some swabs done and that was soooo painful I joked I wanted gas and air. They couldn't find my cervix because it was tilted and the male doctor/SHO looked about 15, bless him. Dougie Howser eat your heart out When he went out of the room I said to the midwife about him looking so young and she said it was his first week and that the one last week looked even younger. God I feel so old!

Sparing you the rest of the TMI details they will call me next week if I need antibiotics.

Thanks again for your support. Keep well all.

rubyslippers · 15/08/2009 10:03

glad to hear you got seen Fanjita - hopefully you won't need the ABs

Misskitty - congrats on your girl

sammy - congrats on your engagement - lovely news

i am feeling fairly grim - had a bad night - SPD really horrid

4 more weeks at week - i hope i can make it

hope everyone else is doing ok ...

HumphreysCorner · 15/08/2009 12:49

Fanjita-hope results are clear.

MrsKitty-excellent scan news and congrats on having a girl.

Sorry some of you are feeling not so good. Had terrible swollen ankles with DD1 and bought bigger sandals. So far so good.

Feel so tired all the time so utmost respect to those still at work. Worked with both girls right up to 1 momth before due date and it was a struggle.

Better go and get some lunch. Big wave!

Hi all

Hope you all had a nice weekend.

Ours was busy as usual!!
Had a wedding on friday which was lovely.(pics on profile of my outfit! I was discussing it on another thread )My feet were really hurting by the end though. And I felt very achey.

Saturday we went to a bbq at a friends with another family. All the children get on really well. The eldest are all in ds's class. Didn't leave there till 9 ish so that was 2 very late nights for the dc's in a row.

The friend whos bbq it was, lent us her pram. It is the same age as mine but has a carry cot attachment which mine didn't have I have washed all the covers for it today and it has come up quite nice I want to use it now!! I washed the covers for my own pram and car seat too . We will use my pram when the baby is too old for the carry cot part of my friends pram.

Today I met girl friends for a pub lunch then we went to see the Ugly Truth at the cinema. It was really funny if a little predictable!!

This morning dh and I started the mammoth job of combining dd and ds's toys as they are going to be sharing once the baby is here. It's not finished but I am glad we have made a start.

RubySlippers I hope your spd is better today.

Fanjita glad you got seen and I'm sure everything is all ok.
When I was in early labour with ds I needed gas and air just to be internally examined. It can be very painful.

sammysam · 17/08/2009 09:00

Morning all!

Fanjita-i'm glad you got it checked out and everything is ok.

Misskitty-congrats on the girl (i've lost count what our total is now!) and on the good scan news!

Thank you rubyslippers!

Princessmel-I still can't get over how busy you are all the time

I need a quick moan about how tired I am-and so uncomfortable I can't remember being like this with dd. Maybe it's just selective memory! Can't believe I still have 5+6 til due date! And i'm sure i'll go over!
I just want to sleep! No chance of that with a very bored dd

On a positive note looks like we'll have the wedding booked by wednesday so that'll be one less thing to worry about!

theboob · 17/08/2009 09:16

morning all
holiday was fab but i did a bit to much and went to white scar caves on thursday, i never thought there would be so much ducking and steep hills......amazing to see though
before i went away my friends threw me a surprise baby shower and gave me the most beautiful crib i have ever seen , I had so many gifts for the baby and it was also an ann summers party before they surprised me which was fab
baby has dropped really low now and I have been having so many BH that are really strong, so i'm keeping an eye on things now, have the hospital on friday so will mention it then
Fanjita , glad everything is ok
sammysam , good luck with the wedding plans
Mrskitty congratulations on scan and girl hope everyone else is ok, cant belive we are nearly there 34 weeks today!!!!!!

lixanismapolium · 17/08/2009 09:43

Morning All

Great news! I woke this morning, and the awful pelvic pain I have been suffering for about 4 weeks has completely gone ... don't know if that means little one has moved away from some pressure point, but it is so lovely to be able to move around without the constant stabbing pain.

Hopefully that means some of you others who are suffering may start to feel better soon.

Long may it last - I'll be disappointed if she moves back later in the day!

smallone · 17/08/2009 10:04

Morning all, had a great weekend, its my 30th on weds and we kicked off the celebrations with a bbq for friends yesterday. Found out that of the 6 of us that shared a house at uni, 5 are now pg! the other 4 are expecting at 2 weekly intervals starting at the beginning of dec. It's really hard for the 1 who isn't pregnant tho, and she's been trying for over a year. I really feel for her.

32weeks now, got a waterproof sheet for the bed on saturday so will put that on today, My waters were broken in hosp last time but I still wrecked the last mattress with leaking breast milk, yuk! Horrible feeling waking up in a puddle! Really need to blitz dd's bedroom she's got so many clothes I can't put the laundry away so there's little piles everywhere. Need to cull the stuff she's outgrown and pack it away til we know if this little one is a boy or girl. ...and get her into a bed!..and clean the carpets...and pack my hosp bag. I think I might be in denial!

HumphreysCorner · 17/08/2009 10:35

Morning all

Never leaked milk with last 2 pregnancies and haven't this time. No wonder I don't seem to produce much milk and DD2 self weaned at 9 months because nothing was coming out.

lix-yay for being pain free.

theboob-how lovely your friends are.

sammysam-great that the wedding will be booked. Huge relief!

princessmel-you look fab in that dress.

Went to a child's party yesterday and one of the mums was astounded that I only had 6 weeks to go as she only noticed I was PG before we broke up for the summer hols. I'm sure he is still transverse, seeing the MW on Thurs.

Big wave to all!

LittleMissBliss · 17/08/2009 12:49

Morning all (big yawn)!

I'm so tired ds had a restless night. Teething i expect think he only has two left to cut now.

Princessmel- You looked lovely and so did you dd, What a pretty dress!

Smallone- Happy Birthday for Wednesday!

Theboob- Baby showers sounds lovely!

Sammysam- I sympathise with you, i am living in a constant state of exhaustion. On the positive side at least it wont hit me like a ton of bricks when the baby arrives as my body is starting to learn to function pretty well on little sleep and energy!

But have days dreams about crashing out on a giant hotel style bed with a thick white duvet and just sinking into the pillow....lovely quiet....bliss.

Then ds bashes me about the head with a car and reality sinks in... He is being a little so and so at the moment terrible twos have hit big time. He's definitely mastered the art of a full scale meltdown if he doesn't get his own way. The funny thing is he has a look of butter wouldn't melt and is so well behaved at all our groups.

Mrskitty- congratulations on finding out sex and glad you enjoyed the retail therapy! Sorry to hear that you are suffering the dreaded cankles too!

33 weeks today. Really hoping only about 5 left- fed up!

peachespaige · 17/08/2009 14:47

Hi all.

Thanks for all your kind words regarding my friend passing.
Its a bit quieter at my end today as ds1 is out with a friend however they are both heading this way late for a sleep over with my ds2, 3 mad boys up until goodness knows what time, just what I need at 30 weeks pregnant. Im doing the other mum a favour!
Ds2 and I went to buy some gold strappy sandles for my friends wedding in September as Im the Birdesmaid. I doubt Ill wear them again as they arent really me.....
lix-yay for being pain free.

theboob-What great friends youve got.

sammysam-Well done for booking the wedding, must seem real now!

princessmel-Pregnancy suits you.

Im not feeling too bad at the mo, uncomfortable in the evenings but I have the whole bed to myself as dp is in the spare room!!!
Im trying to do a lot of walking at the moment as it makes me feel better and with 2 boys its needed to keep me sane!
I think Im having a third boy, just have this feeling.....

HappyTangerine · 17/08/2009 16:27

I've just got back from having an emergency root canal on a top tooth owwwww. Wasn't expecting it, I only went in because a filling fell out this morning, was expecting to have it replaced but the pulp is infected. Dentist said pregnancy can play havoc with your teeth (don't I know it!) and has sent me away with instructions to have more calcium and iron and at least a pint of milk a day.

On Saturday afternoon, the baby started throwing all sorts of painful shapes in my tummy, it was weird and very uncomfortable with a lot happening at the top of the bump. I was convinced he'd turned. Had consultant appointment again today and they confirmed baby is now breech,(he was head down) awkward little fidget that he is! Plenty of time for him to turn again and they said he is so active, he'll probably turn several times. However, because my 36week midwife appointment coincides with the bank holiday, I'll be back in the clinic again on the Wednesday and we get to have an extra scan. Have also been booked into breech clinic for 37 weeks just in case. Very intrigued by breech clinic, I have visions of several midwives rolling me around like a big sausage in effort to get the baby to move

Otherwise, nice quiet weekend, had really nice day yesterday-it was DHs birthday. y mum had a health scare but we got good news on Friday-her symptoms are due to overactive thyroid and nothing more sinister. She's on meds now. My cousin had a little boy last Thursday, bless her-32 hr labour and narrowly avoided a c-section. Her mum and sister had v quick labours (2.5 and 4 hrs) so she feels really unlucky. The baby weighed 9.9lbs - I don't think we've ever had a baby born weighing under 8lbs in our family and yet theres no history of gestational diabetes.

Right, anisthetic wearing off so I'm going to take some painkillers and go to bed

theboob-baby shower sounds lovely, what fab friends you have
Sammysam-well done on booking the wedding
lix - yay for the pain going, hope it stays away
fanjita - so glad you got checked out and all is ok
Mrs Kitty - congrats on your girl

MeHimCatBlob · 17/08/2009 20:54

Hi all

glad so many had good weekends.

Smallone - before i forget, have a great birthday on Wednesday

apart from the undesirable side effects from the iron tablets and the pains in my hip (seeing physio on Wed) I'm actually feeling quite good today - even managed to sleep to 5am which is a good 2 hours longer than normal of late. Wasnt aware of the whole leaking thing so will have to find something plastic to put under my sheets - how near to the due date should i worry about this?! (I'm currently 30+1)

have a great week and will check in again soon

BellaCullen · 18/08/2009 09:01

Hi everyone was feeling awful last week constantly dizzy and nauseous.MW thinks I`m anemic but they lost my last iron blood samples so had some more taken and waiting for those results.
Am taking Spartone iron supplement which have been ok not tasting bad with the orange juice and no constipation thank god.

sammysam congrats on booking wedding you done that quickly.

Got my hospital stuff last week and got the patient pak from boots would recommend it.Its got sanitizing wipes and soap and spray and toothbrush and paste, bodywash and even pen.You get lots for £15 and in a bag too.
Sorry if I missed anyone out memory gone to shots.
Have a good day xx
33+4

Treats · 18/08/2009 17:46

Hi everyone.

Had a lovely pregnancy massage yesterday - 90 minutes - a present from a friend. Really really lovely.....

And then on the bus on the way home, I developed the worst back pain ever. It wasn't like a muscular pain - much more like a stabbing pain. I started to feel hot and sick and eventually had to get off the bus and walk. Didn't make me feel better and I actually had to crouch down on the pavement for a few minutes before I could continue - fortunately it was a quiet road..... I kept getting the pain on and off throughout the evening and it was absolute agony.

But today - nothing! I've had no pain all day, and have actually had less back pain today than I normally have. I don't know if it was the effects of the massage working their way through and now I'm feeling the benefits, but it was really weird. Was going to try and get an emergency appointment with the GP to discuss it, but hav decided to wait and see if it comes back.

Good to see what everyone else is up to. Hope you're all well today.

KleineMaus · 19/08/2009 15:54

Treats that massage sounds fab, am . DH has now been away for nearly three weeks and I'm a bit fed up now. Poor DS, I'm not feeling terribly patient and he's been driving me bonkers. Still, back to playgroup today, so that gives a bit of respite.

On the plus side I saw the midwife yesterday, only the fourth appointment I've had and only the second with my own midwife. She said 'I feel like I've hardly seen you.' and I think she thought me slightly cheeky when I said 'that's because you haven't!' She cheered me up by exclaiming 'what a beautiful shaped bump you have!' What a lovely compliment, makes a change from comments about how big it is.

Thanks for the tip about the Boots patients pack, Bella. I must get organised. I think because I was only in the hospital 45 minutes before I had DS (although a few days after that) and because I've been hoping to go to a birth unit where you can only stay for 6 hours after the birth, the whole hospital thing hasn't featured highly in my thoughts, but I suppose I could end up staying quite a bit longer if things don't go smoothly. I don't suppose you ever get exactly the same birth experience twice, do you...

smallone · 20/08/2009 09:35

Morning all, thanks for the birthday messages!

Treats, massage sounds lovely, the after effects don't tho. Sounds like a bit of preparation for contractions to me!

Made a list for my hosp bag the other day and have started buying things. Including lots of food and energy drinks for dh coz he was good for nothing by the end of the 3 days last time. (tho I think we'll leave his food supplies in the car and he can bob back out for them, no point in lugging it all around)

Ordered my tens hire the other day and have got a new facecloth, my face got so hot during contractions, I needed a cold flannel on it. Got my "rescue remedy" too, so hopefully thats my early pain relief sorted. Def going to try and stay at home a bit longer this time.

Cazza28 · 20/08/2009 13:53

Hi Ladies,

Hope you are all well.

I am preparing my hospital bag at the moment and have decided to breast feed. I have been told I need to bring the cartons of milk with me. How many do I take?

Also I need to bring nappies how many of them?

I plan to pack:
two vests
two sleep suits
1 Hat
1 pair scratch mitts
3 Bibs
1 Cardigan.

Will that be enough for Bubs?

princessmel · 20/08/2009 14:39

Hello all

Treats Your friend sounds very nice geting you that masage Shame about the after pains.

HT Ouch Did you get it all done on the nhs for free with you exemption card?

sammysam great about the wedding!! Very exciting!!

mrskitty Lovely about your little girl x

I haven't packed a hospital bag yet and don't think I will for a while yet. My mum did buy a tiny white outfit and hat though, so that can be the 'coming home outfit'

We have made some progress on the room situation though. I have mananged to sort all the toys out so that dd's toys are now in ds's room (soon to be their room) and that her room is getting emptier, ready for the baby things.
Dh got her wardrobe from Ikea aswell.
We are going to start decorating the dc's room on sunday. My parents are taking the kids out for the day so we can started
We'll do more on the bank holiday weekend.

I am still getting awful restless legs at night time, last night was particluarly bad. Then I have to make a million wee trips each night.
Plus everytime I lie on my side, the baby goes mad and really pokes and moves about. That makes it hard to sleep too.
9 more weeks of this!!! Most probably more if I am od again.

I am still being ultra busy, I have no choice with th dcs' off school. My friends are telling me to slow down...

This morning the children had gym club then I was thinking about taking them to the park as there was a 'fun in the parks' session there (free organised games). ds would have loved it, but I decided to rest instead. I played a board game with them and now they are watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Hope you are all well

LittleMissBliss · 20/08/2009 14:40

Hi all,

Anemia is making me feel really lousy. Ds had to go and stay with MIL tomo so i've had a lovely lay in today. Feel like a new woman!

Cazza i'm a little confused, you have decided to breastfeed or to not breastfeed?

If it's to then i'd suggest none!

I'm not really sure about bottles and formula as i have no experience in that area. But maybe getting those small pre-made-up disposable bottles might be best for hospital. I don't think all hospitals have sterilising equipment. Have you researched into what brand of formula you are going to use? Some agree with babies more than others. Aptamil was a popular choice amougst formula feeding friends.

better go and get some housework done before ds comes home.

Hope you are all well.
