Hi all

trying to catch up on a weeks posts and failing to remember who said what!

its been an amazing week for me, had my 22 week scan last Thursday and we are having a girl - its our first and we are both very excited.

Saturday we got married which was perfect and we then spent 3 days in a lovely castle hotel in North Yorkshire which was so nice.

Today we spent packing my DP's house up as its all going to storage this Sunday with completion on Friday so thats one house sold. Sadly mine isnt doing as well so we have dropped the price and started looking for somewhere else.

thanks for the advice on BF - definately want to give it a go and our local hospital is very keen but i will be going back to work about 2-3 months after the birth so am hoping to BF for that period and then just mornings and evenings after that - kind of hope that anything is better than nothing at all.

will also be starting the baby shopping soon as we have absolutely nothing at all so plenty of things to buy i guess.

hope no-one is suffering too much with the heat and you all sleep well

hackneybird · 02/07/2009 22:50

Congratulations on the wedding catbob!

Big wave to everyone else - too hot to write more but read everything so know what is going on with you all. xx

theboob · 03/07/2009 07:42

congratulations on your wedding catbob
i have also been having painful braxton hicks, one lot was for 45 mins the other night and scared me a little, will mention it to the midwife on wed hope everyone is well, weather supposed to be cooling down today

smallone · 03/07/2009 09:32

Morning all, Congratulations Mrs Catbob!

I've been having lots of romantic/erotic dreams, basically working my way through all the men I have known(!)and I've started to look forward to them but last night I dreamt about......sandwiches!

HumphreysCorner · 03/07/2009 11:48

Congratulations MeHimCatBlob- glad you had a lovely time and I adore castles so v

Mum and dad have lent me a fan so hope this will help me as I am so hot. It us bringing me out in a rash.

My boobs have swelled and are v. painful now. Read on FF that you can start leaking colostrum at 27 weeks and when I squeezed some came out.

Big wave to everyone else. Have my 28 week bloods on Monday and see the MW on Thursday so I can get my grant form signed. Am hoping she can tell which way he is laying as I am being kicked in my bottom.

Big wave to all, stay cool and pelvic floors!

congrats CatBob - what a very busy week you've had!

HappyTangerine - that's very irritating. How silly of your neighbours to try and scare you like that. All the people who've died from swine flu so far - including the poor woman in Scotland and her baby - were all suffering from major underlying health problems.

having said that, the government have changed their approach to swine flu from containment to treatment, which means that they're no longer trying to stop the spread of it and treating each case as it comes. They think there could be as many as 100,000 new cases a day by August. Pregnant women - especially those in their second and third trimesters - are identified as a vulnerable category. They hope to have some vaccines available by August, and we should be first in line for vaccination.

While I don't think anyone should panic, it would be sensible to take some precautions. My DH has bought me some anti-bacterial hand gel so that I can 'wash' my hands when I get off the tube, which seems a reasonable thing to do. I sent a note around my office today telling everyone about it and asking them to be vigilant. Hopefully that's not too over the top.....

HappyTangerine · 03/07/2009 12:42

Pouring down with rain here(hurrah!) but it hasn't seemed to cool down at all. Ankles swollen but breathing has got a bit easier. Think I might have a touch of the holiday blues but am going to Wales to have a kind of pre-birthday celebration on Sunday so that should help!

Have decided to bit the bullet and pursue another degree - am going to be doing Modern Languages with the Open University, focusing on Spanish and Italian. My initial degree was in Linguistics with Japanese and I wasn't best fond of the Linguistics element so hoping this time I can play to my strengths. We would like to move to Italy eventually, I felt v at home there.

MeHimCatBob - congratulations!

Treats - thanks. I'm getting quite annoyed by some of the locals, its like they want things to get worse. The US has been in the treatment stage for a while now and life there is going on as normal according to friends. We had all the major US TV channels in my hotel - the only time it made top story on the news in the last 2 weeks there was when the CDC announced that a million US citizens had it but the majority hadn't seen a doctor and recovered perfectly well. Follwed by some interviews with people who had recovered and were describing how they felt. I've not seen that happen once here yet, just a lot of fear. The comparisons in reporting were really interesting to see.

I started using the anti-bacterial gel as soon as the news broke and am just taking each day as it comes. In December I was very ill with normal flu (despite having the flu jab) and by all accounts, this seems to be milder for most. You'd think it was bubonic plague if you listened to my neighbours though

HumphreysCorner - hope the fan helps! Thanks for the reminder re the grant, I have my 28 week check on Monday morning and had completely forgotten about it.

rubyslippers · 03/07/2009 12:45

congrats to mehimcat - what a week!

i have only skimmed the thread so will have to ocme back later

am SO DAMN HOT!! my right ankle and foot are so swollen and it is so uncmfortable

even the thunder last night hasn't cooled it down

LittleMissBliss · 03/07/2009 21:55

CONGRATULATIONS MRS MEHIMCATBLOB!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

sammysam · 04/07/2009 08:46

Just popping in before next week!
Can't catch up properly-just skimmed....

CONGRATULATIONS Mehimcatbob!!!!! I hope you had a fantastic day!

I have my 28wk midwife check/bloods on monday and then another scan at the hospital-might be the last one.

Baby is so so active-you can see tiny movements from the outside (ones I can hardly feel) and then see my whole stomach moving and massively changing shape the rest of the time-I can't believe I still have 12wks to go-I'm sure this is what it was like near the end! Maybe it is because I have quite solid tight bumps-can be very uncomfortable though!

Another busy weekend in store-will have to try and not overdo it!

Quick question for those in Poole-do you know any good builders/brickies? Need to get some quotes.....

Have a fantastic weekend x x x

fidelma · 04/07/2009 22:14

BellaCullen · 05/07/2009 07:33

CONGRATULATIONS MeHimCatBlob on wedding and having a girl.

Up early as cant go back to sleep going to Legoland today am so excited just hope it wont rain.Baby has been a bit quiety this week but do see it from outside too but DP always misses it.
Think he`s now lying right way and not transverse anymore.I did the lying on back with bum in the air position and bumps looks different shape.

I ahve the cleaning nesting thing too since beginning really. Its good though as have never been that tidy but it really bugs me now and need to constantly tidy something. Not enough space for all washed clothes either definitely better to have a third dirty same with cups we seem to have tons that dont all fit in cupboard at same time. Have washed all the babys clothes and moses basket cover.I know still too early but taking advantage of nice weather and drying it all outside. Not sure where its all going to go really.
Sorry with long post you`re probably all bored to death.
Have a good sunday. xxx

rubyslippers · 05/07/2009 08:34

MeHimCatBlob · 05/07/2009 14:38

Hi all

thanks very much for all the good wishes - we had a lovely day and it was just what we wished for.

have to get our heads around the arrival of bump at some point soon and actually start buying things!!

have a great day

LittleMissBliss · 06/07/2009 07:53

Sammysam

Dp is part of a website called check a trade. He's a carpenter though. You should have a look on there for a builder as all of the members are vetted and customers leave feedback, they have a profile of works and list of qualifications. HTH.

I'm in a constant state of exhaustion at the moment but can't nap during the day and can't go to bed early because it's too light. Aaaahh! Well better get used to it as it will be the norm soon!

HumphreysCorner · 06/07/2009 10:32

Hi all

Anyone else got a lot of discharge? On Saturday I found this huge blob of cheese like discharge in my knickers-no bleeding though and nothing since. Scared me something rotten but looking on the archives it would seem this is normal. Am seeing the MW on Thursday so will mention it.

Just been for my 28 week bloods and the nurse went on about it not being right that women were having babies in their 40's. I told her my youngest was only 3 and eldest 6 so she said 'oh, you started late then'.

Hope all OK, still too warm. Big wave!

princessmel · 06/07/2009 11:05

Hi all

HC not noticed loads more discharge, in fact I've had less than normal since being preg. I have read on here that thrush is very common in the late 20weeks of pregnancy though.

I went to see Take That last night at Wembley Stadium and it was TOTALLY AMAZING!!!!
I was really worried about it before actually as I am suffering with achey legs at the moment and the thought of the concert was making me scared. I though I wouldn't cope very well. But it was fine! I got dh to drop us right outside the stadium and we got collected buy my BIL. I took cartons of juice and some food in with me too, for energy!
I danced the whole time and really enjoyed myself
We were very high up and that frightened me a bit, but it was worth it

After the concert we had to sit in the car for over an hour and a half, not moving, because of all the traffic.
A 20 minute journey home took 2 hours!

Hope you are all ok. I feel HUGE. Everybody keeps comparing me to my friend, who is due next week and they think we are at the same stage.

OP posts:
HappyTangerine · 06/07/2009 12:02

Just back from 28 week appt, all well. Maybe I should start thinking about what to get now as we have nothing and I haven't even thought of what to put in hospital bag!

HC - not notice any increased discharge, it's just my pelvic floor that has gone to pot. How rude of the nurse, take no notice.

Anyone trying natal hypnotherapy? I've been listening to the pregnancy relaxation cd for the last month and I end up having some very trippy dreams! Will start on the birth prep one this week.

sammysam · 06/07/2009 12:27

Just popped in-HT-where were your cd's from?

HC-I have more discharge than normal-think as you and others have said-it is very common.

Off to all my appointments soon.....

Sparklytwinkletoes · 06/07/2009 15:01

Hi all, I'll join you with the early nesting! I've been cleaning and tidying for weeks now, although its probably as much as anything because that's all I've had to do of late, I finished work some time ago and DS has only just served out his notice at nursery, today is our first day together! He's a bit off colour actually though, he's running a bit of a temperature and is completely off his food. Very cuddly though, which is nice.

I must admit, till I just read it on here, I hadn't even thought about a maternity bag - I don't think I packed it till really late last time and it wasn't very well organised, so am planning to do it better this time. And buy more maternity pads and breastpads this time too!

I've bought the VBAC prep hypnobirthing CD, I just need to listen to it . I've only had it a couple of days actually and just need to work out how to put it on my ipod.

Guess I could stop MN'ing and do that now

27 weeks tomorrow! The middle trimester has gone so quickly compared to the first, its supposed to slow down for the third and I hope it does, we've got too much to do around the house (sorting out the room DS is moving into) for it to go quickly!

HappyTangerine · 06/07/2009 18:06

Sammysam - the cd's are the Maggie Howell ones from www.natalhypnotherapy.co.uk. Hope your appointment went well.

Seem to have picked up a cold from somewhere-never fails to happen when I've been abroad , must be the change in air. Its floored me a bit though, I've just spent the last 5 hours asleep which is most unlike me!Off to investigate what I can take for the cough...

spongebrainmaternitypants · 07/07/2009 10:09

Hi guys, can I rejoin the thread?

Did join a while back but life has been a bit manic so disappeared - now nearly 24 wks (EDD 28/10), had good 20 wk scan and we're having another boy which we're thrilled about. There will only be a 16 mth age gap between our two DCs so we were hoping for a matching pair !

Hope everyone else is well and busy preparing for the big day .
