Hi everyone! Moved house & am so tired now LOL . Having to use iPhone so can't really read the posts as the writing is so small. Congrats on the wedding!!! Starting to feel sore: back, tummy & legs, think I'm getting ready for the baby growing! Take care everyone xxx

idreamofbeanie · 07/07/2009 14:05

Hi all,

just back from a long weekend boating holiday with DP which was lovely and relaxing. Just what we needed!

MHCB - CONGRATULATIONS . Sounds like you had a lovely wedding day and it's fantastic news you are having a little girl.

Fidelma - I've been getting braxton hicks too. At first they were hardly noticeable - my stomach tightened up for a minute, especially when I was walking quickly but it wasn't uncomfortable - but for the last week or 2 they have been much stronger and kind of take my breath away for a minute. They are quite weird .

Bella - how was legoland? I'm really looking forward to taking LO places like that (in a couple/few years).

HT - how are you finding the Maggie Howell CDs? I really want to have a home birth and want to practice some breathing/relaxation exercises. I have a book and CD by Marie Mongan but I don't find the CD that useful - it has a relaxation exercise but nothing that I think will be good for the birth. There are explanations of how to breath through the contractions/surges in the book but when I try to practice I just feel stupid and I'm not sure whether it is doing any good or not.

Well I am 28+2 today and have my 28 week appt on Thursday. I'm hoping to have a bit of a chat with the midwife about homebirth and also want to get my grant forms sorted out. We still have a few bits to buy and although I know there isn't any rush I just feel very impatient . I'm no good at waiting for anything and 9 weeks until maternity leave/12 weeks until we meet our baby still seems AGES! I'm going to be a nightmare if the LO is late which I know is quite likely with a first.

twinklegreen · 07/07/2009 14:08

Hi everyone, just had my 28wk appointment, everything is fine apart for my iron levels a bit low. Midwife forgot to give me the form for my HIP grant so I'll have to wait until I see her at 34wks to get it, which is a bit annoying as I could do with the money!

Just got a phone call to say that they have had a cancellation at the hospital so dd is going in for the operation tommorrow, so I'm in a bit of a flap

Treats · 07/07/2009 15:06

twinklegreen - Hope everything goes well for you and your little girl tomorrow. Are you pleased that it's come round sooner than you thought? How is your DD?

hi to everyone else. Can't remember who said about their stomach making strange movements, but mine is doing just the same. To begin with, I could feel the baby kicking, but now I can actually feel sustained movement (if that makes sense ). I sat in bed and watched my tummy move up and down last night - quite a weird feeling.

Went to a music festival with DH on Sunday and we camped overnight - the first time I've done either!!! There's no time like being 6 months' pregnant to try new things. I really enjoyed myself and had no real trouble at all. My back ached a bit, but nothing that a bit of a lie-down couldnt' sort out. I made all sorts of elaborate plans in case I needed to go to the loo in the middle of the night, but managed to last until 6am in the end.

I did find that sleeping on my right side (I normally sleep on my left) caused quite a bit of pain at the top of my rib-cage - has anyone else had this? It carried on during the drive home and came back in the evening but it's fine now - I was sleeping on my left again last night.

Although not sleeping much The whole 'needing to pee all the time' aspect of pregnancy has kicked in with a vengeance. Three times last night...... feeling very sleepy today.

smallone · 07/07/2009 16:11

twinkle good luck for tomorrow, maybe its best that you have less time to work yourself up? I'm sure its much worse for you than for her.

Welcome back spongebrain

treats I'm off camping with the guides for the first week of august and have requested my own loo tent! We went for just a night over the weekend and I ended up having to use dd's potty in the porch of the tent!

Have found a reflexologist who is looking for subjects to finish her maternity reflexology qualification, which could mean free sessions!

DevilsAdvocaat · 07/07/2009 18:41

hello everyone!

congrats mecathimblob!

so glad for the rain atm. my garden is equally grateful! we've had loads of fresh courgettes and beets. yummy. sadly cabbages were all ruined by caterpillars although on the bright side, i appear to have tripled the butterfly population!

am starting to struggle with sitting on the floor for nappy changes. will start training ds this summer (he turned 2 in june) i hope he's ready! will wait to dh is on school hols so he can help

wow to you lot camping whilst pg! that's brave!

feeling ok at the moment, really can't believe how quickly time is passing. gutted i can't get in here to chat to you all more regularly, wish i had me old faithful laptop back.

in the meantime, don't forget me

CookieMonster1 · 07/07/2009 19:18

Hello everyone

It's been a while since I posted but I have been trying to keep up with everyone's news. Time is flying by.

Treats I have exactly the same issue, sleeping on my right side really hurts the top of my ribcage. But sleeping on my left I am fine. I usually sleep on my right side so it's a bit of a pain.

If that's all I have to complain about though, I feel very lucky. Just waiting for the stretch marks and the piles to kick in so I get the full experience...

sammysam · 08/07/2009 08:16

Quickly popping in to say good luck to Twinkle-I hope it all goes ok. Your poor dd-poor you as well. Will be thinking of you x x x

princessmel · 08/07/2009 09:28

Yes , good luck Twinklegreen and to your dd.

OP posts:
Treats · 08/07/2009 10:24

Lol CookieMonster . I'm used to sleeping on my left, so it's not a huge issue for me. I had thought about swapping sides in bed with DH so that I could be nearer the door for my loo trips, but because I usually face out of the bed when I sleep (as opposed to facing DH), I would either have to face him or sleep on my right. They would both be painful........ So I'm stuck with a long trip round the bed to get to the loo in the night. Never mind - only twice last night!

(Secretly preferring the rainy chilly weather to the hot sunshine of last week - but don't tell anyone )

idreamofbeanie · 08/07/2009 10:41

Treats - sshhh, I'm secretly enjoying the cooler weather too but I'm not brave enough to own up in RL.

LOL Cookie Monster and a bit too. The stretch marks have already hit here . I'm not surprised, I just have that skin type and got stretch marks during my teenage years too when I developed some shape but it's still depressing. They aren't horrific yet but I'm sure over the next 12 weeks they are just going to get worse and worse . Oh well, at least I don't have piles (yet!).

Twinklegreen - will be thinking of you and your DD today.

My garden is loving the wet weather too. I have already had a crop of potatoes, caulis and broccoli and the second lot are coming along nicely. Have been eating strawberries from the pots too mmmmmm. Just waiting on chillis, peppers and tomatoes to ripen now and my courgettes to get a bit bigger. Not sure I am going to get any fruit from my trees though, it is their first year though so not too disappointed.

kowaikiwi · 08/07/2009 14:21

Hi all, I'm new on here and but you seem like a friendly bunch! I'm due 10 October. Wondering if anyone has had a water birth at the Royal Surrey to tell me about their experience?

Sammysam am I right in thinking you might be local to me in the Pirbright/Brookwood area?

smallone where abouts is this reflexologist? I would be well up for some treatment and if it helps someone out with their studies, even better.

HappyTangerine · 08/07/2009 14:40

Twinklegreen - good luck to you and your daughter for today, keep us updated as to how she is getting on x

IDOB - the Maggie Howell cds are great. I was a bit about self hypnosis as I'm one of thosen people that can't seem to be hypnotised. But I've surprised myself, the imagery is relaxing and the voice on the cd's very soothing (and not at all irritating thank God!). They seem to really work for me.

Its my 36th birthday today and I had lots of lovely pressies to open this morning. Am a big Lush fan and my sister got me the Therapy bar as one of her gifts as I've been moaning about stretch marks-apparently, its better than Bio-Oil. Had one birthday in Wales at the weekend with my family and now today so I have two cakes . Also just had confirmation of my place on an ante-natal yoga course beginning at end of July so really pleased, DH is going to sign up to a couples session with me as well.

spongebrain - congrats on your boy

kowaikiwi - big wave, welcome

idreamofbeanie · 08/07/2009 15:19

Thanks HT - I think I might try to get hold of one of those CDs then. Maybe I'll get one of the Lush bars too and see if it helps with my stretch marks.

I started a yoga course a few weeks ago and it is really good. I always come out feeling as though I have had a really good stretch and relax and sorted my posture out a bit. At the start of the class we either have a visit from a lady (with baby) who has done the class and she chats about her labour and birth or we just have a group chat about some birth/labour issue IYKWIM. I wasn't too sure at first - I thought all the group chats might be weird - but it's been really good to get to know some of the other mums-to-be and also a bit more info even if the chats usually make me feel totally unprepared. I've usually not even thought about whatever it is we are discussing .

Hi kowaikiwi

HumphreysCorner · 08/07/2009 17:20

Good luck Twinkle-am sure all will go super smooth.

Went to Matalan this morning then needed the toilet like I do 24 hours a day so rushed up to Wickes to find it out of order so rushed back hoping to make Sainsburys but no such luck, had to squat in a bush outside Matalan and ended up with wet pants and feet. Had to buy a pair of pants and then found a toilet in Matalan! Oh, the joys of having a baby.

Must get some tea on so big wave to all.

HC

Hi All

May I join this thread please? I am due on 23 October but a planned c-sec means DS2 will probably be born sometime the week before.

Must admit that I haven't read any of the previous 13 pages yet.

smallone · 09/07/2009 09:55

welcome fanjita and kowaikiwi reflexologist is in Hereford but you might be able to find someone local to you?

Happy Birthday HT congrats on the two cakes!

Am knackered today and yesterday, which always seems to be followed by a much bigger bump, so maybe baby is sapping my strength for a growth spurt? I'm supposed to be having a GTT in a couple of weeks but haven't heard anything, not sure whether I'm supposed to organise it myself.

26+4wks now!

princessmel · 09/07/2009 10:05

Welcome kowaikiwi and fanjita

HC lol at the weeing in the bush!

HT Happy birthday, it's my birthday tomorrow! I am not a big cake eater myself , so any cake I have will be eaten by dh and the dc's and my family!

My twin sister is taking the day off and we will spend it together and are having a BBQ on sunday for our friends.

Baby moving loads. Lots of little pulse like movements/kicks.
Especially when I'm sitting. It also moves when I turn on the taps!

kowaikiwi · 09/07/2009 10:25

Oh humphreyscorner I'm so sorry about your matalan experience, I would be horrified but you seem to have dealt with it very well!
I know at this stage if I wait too long it gets very painful, I can pretty much feel the pressure on my bladder building, not so much the urge to go, but just the pain!

I am feeling tired this week but due to not sleeping as a result of an aching back and hips. Finding it hard lying on my side (was always a front sleeper), my pilates instructor suggested one of those memory foam mattresses - has anyone tried that? I guess everyone's different though.

Booked myself in for the Champneys pregnancy package in a few weeks, can't wait!

Have a good day everyone.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 09/07/2009 11:10

Hi everyone. Been really busy since DS went part time at nursery and haven't been able to get on much.

Am deathly tired at the moment, I have a MW appt later and am going to demand request that she tests my bloods.

I've got the Maggie Howells Hypnobirthing VBAC CD, as that's the plan this time around, listened to it for the first time this morning and was very relaxed. I struggled a little bit with the 'visualisation', I found myself trying to dig for memories - is there a 'technique' for visualisation or is it just practice, or do I just have a crap imagination!?

Welcome to late comers to the thread - good luck in keeping up!

Have been in much the same boat with regards to aches etc, but saw an osteopath last week and have been much, much better since. I used to go to see him quite regularly but it had been 2 years. Was a little tender on the following day, but as I say, much better now.

I emailed the company about the breast warmers and got confirmation that its OK to post details: [email protected] is the lady to contact about purchasing them.

She gave the following info:

I'm still here. I'm pleased that you remember PROMIX products for breast
feeding women. You may order by mail. Breast warmers price SEK 161:- ,
Nipple Ease SEK 137:- by transfer (IBAN) to PROMIX account. I will send all
bankdetails with the products and customers have 10 days to pay. My homepage
is still only avaiable in swedish. You may use the following about the
products and of course use e-mail and homepage.

I don't know what Nipple Ease is, I guess its a cream and I've no idea how you would arrange a payment by IBAN.... does anyone else know?

27+2

Sparklytwinkletoes · 09/07/2009 11:13

Oh, Kowaikiwi, I had the Champneys 'beautiful bump' massage when I was pregnant with DS, was very nice, but I was very relaxed and not paying attention - so was very surprised when she massaged my boobs!

Its not quite like it sounds, to be fair, just a quick sweep over so that the breast tissue gets the benefit of the oils.

Enjoy! Wish I was doing it again
