euro, good luck on the move. hope all goes smoothly.

dandy, sounds like an awful experience. i'm glad you're well in the end. at the hosp mistakes - not what you need post birth. glad you're sending complaint, hope you can relax at home and you bp settles.

blotted, so sorry things are slowing for you - this baby is too comfy! i really hope things get moving for you today.

emmabemmasmom, happy birthday! hope you have a great day.

jennster, 3rd time round, i 'm finding bf difficult to start as well. getting better though 2 weeks later. Harper didn't open widely enough to start and my nips were very sore. got better whenn milk came in and we seem to be doing ok.

last time we got her weighed -at 9 days - she was back to birthweight so she/we are doing something right. now, biggest prob is how to keep her awake during feeds.

Happy Birthday Reebee as well (it is your birthday, right?)!

just waiting for the family to wake up. DH spent an hour+ rocking Harper in mid of the night so i'm 'letting' him sleep . dd1&2 seem to lay in bed until at least 730 (but I can hear one of them chatting).

uh oh. now the little one dd2 is demanding mummy cuddle and saying 'poo'. hurrah, off i go.

hope all are well this morning.

Febes I knew it - your LO was waiting for grandma to arrive. Good luck hope all goes well (and fast) today.

I'm still here - still in 'latent' labour.

Happy birthday emmaBsmom and ReeBee Blotted I have a good feeling about today - it's all going to happen a couple more arrivals before today is out ;)

Sorry to cut short - DH is nagging me that we need to go out for another walk (trek) to try and get things moving since my day of R & R didn't work yesterday

frazzledoldbag · 17/05/2009 09:01

blotted and mini - I feel your pain (and frustration). Was told to go back to hosp last night for more monitoring as they were concerned I was brewing an infection. Was monitored for about an hour then had my 4th speculum in 3 days (oh joy) - after which they decided my waters hadn't gone, but I'd had a leak which they are no longer concerned about. They then gave me another sweep (still 4cm but very stretchy) and sent me home......got home at midnight, had an unsettled night with some quite bad contractions which have now STOPPED again. Midwife said I was having a very long latent phase of labour. No shit.
So am grumpy (still). Sore (still). Boo hoo.

detsy I love both Archie and Henry. Send DH out for lots of lovely steaks and green veggies to get your iron levels back up after your blood loss. Poor you, but well done on the fast delivery. Not that I'm at all jealous............can't wait to hear all the gory details!

febes good luck go go go!

Don't have time to name check properly as we're getting ready and going out for a long walk with some friends this morning then out for lunch. For the first time in about 3 days it isn't chucking down horizontal rain here so we're making the most of it.
Love to everyone, catch you later. x

FiKelly · 17/05/2009 09:29

"eurom* I was unfortunately up at 4am with ds.. he's developed a bad cough and cold. dh started cold shivers etc yesterday but so far I only have sore throat and stuffy nose. got ds settled after some tixylix (sp) and a drink. but then struggled to get back to sleep.. felt sick and crampy. put hypnotherapy on after a snack and think drifted back off about 5.30am

febes hope all is well and you're cuddling lo now..

belgian well done on the last 3days.. you should be v V proud

dandy glad to hear you're home but at your hospital.. a complaint is def in order by the sounds of it.

blotted mini frazzle sending all the get labour going vibes I can muster to you & in nicest way I hope to not be in your shoes. I'm now overdue too but with only intermittent occasional cramps and niggles.

happy birthday to emmab and reebee have a fantastic day today

minimenace · 17/05/2009 09:46

Oh Frazz I thought you were going to have good news on your next post Hopefully it is all going to happen for us soon.
and I should count myself lucky I have managed to avoid the speculum so far.

back from our walk now - managed not to get lost and avoid being dragged through fields and over styles this time.
I steered DH along the main roads instead and along the shortish route.
Didn't speed up or strengthen contractions though - just feeling huge pressure down low again.

minimenace · 17/05/2009 09:47

Do we need to start thinking about a new thread title ? any ideas anyone ?

Only time for a quick skim & post so apols for not name-checking everyone, but good wishes to all those in slow or fast labour or having birthdays today

detsy glad you are home safe & sound. Can't wait to hear your story & to meet little Archie.

frazz sorry things are so frustrating for you. I was told at AN class that no contractions are a 'waste', they're all helping littley get into place & should mean you have a better active labour. Not much consolation though i know. Did they offer you anti-bs? I got them when my waters went but can't really understand why as they were going to induce anyway after 48h. Think it may have been precautionary because I was pre-term & it was very clear all my waters had gone - bump changed shape.

Dandy at your hospital and you have had such a difficult time. Sounds like a complaint to the hospital is justified & will help you put it behind you in the longer term.

Right, off to prepare for taking H for a pub lunch

FiKelly · 17/05/2009 11:34

thread titles.. hard this time.. how about something like

due may 2009.. half baked to fully cooked we're not all ready yet!

SpangleMaker · 17/05/2009 11:40

Dandy x-posts. You must be so frustrated at the to-ing and fro-ing to hospital - I really feel for you. Hopefully the jaundice can be home treated. If he does have to be treated in hospital, maybe he won't have to go to SCBU for the jaundice - perhaps could be treated in a more normal ward where you can stay with him. Un-huggy hugs to you.

ladyhelenatealltheeggs · 17/05/2009 11:43

dandy yikes at your hospital experience. Glad you and H are now recovering well. Must have been quite scary and not what a new mum needs.

frazz please please have this baby soon!!!

febes hope you are now holding your LO.

Right I'd better go and get dressed. We're supposed to be at a house warming party in 20 mins. DS is playing on the Wii, I'm in my slob gear and need to get something vaguely groovy on and do hair. Laters dudes.....have a lovely sunday all. Gah, just noticed its raining here so no point in straightening hair then.

llareggub · 17/05/2009 11:53

dandy I've had 2 babies with jaundice. You need to feed as much as you can and get baby in the sun for daily sun baths. DS1 needed 24 hours under a phototherapy lamp, which they did by my bedside, not in SCBU. He was very, very yellow though. DS2 was not so yellow, but had yellow tinges around the eyes. He was treated at home.

Good luck!

pulapula · 17/05/2009 12:03

Morning all,

Dandy- sorry to hear about your PE and post-birth experience. Sounds really horrible for you, and sorry to hear it's still ongoing but hopefully things will settle down soon.

Febes - look forward to hearing your birth annoucement, and also announcements from anyone else labouring away.

Frazzled and blotted - those babies really are just tooooo comfortable. Hope things move for you soon.

MW came today and is a bit concerned about Sam's jaundice but said it was good that he was feeding every 2 hours and waking for feeds. But if he becomes excessively sleepy i need to call her back before her next visit on Weds.

Tried for an hour to get S in his "snuggle nest" last night at 11.30 and then decided to give one last BF to help him settle. Next thing i knew it was 5.45am and there was no baby in the nest. Then i looked down to see him sleeping across my tummy, swaddled, on his front, and just under the duvet- all the worst possible things for him . He wasn't overly hot and at least we both had a solid sleep....

I will set up a post-natal thread and post the link for everyone.

sausagenmash · 17/05/2009 12:04

Aaargh how frustrating for you, Frazz, Blotted and Mini - hope things happen for you soon! Am getting frustrated, and I'm not even due yet, grrr - have started to get the 'any news' texts.... am starting to ignore them...

Poor Dandy - hope H is ok - good luck with the complaint - ggrr, hospitals..

I met some old uni friends who I haven't seen since graduating (15 years!) yesterday, for a mooch around Kew gardens, and then went to friends for dinner and cheesy eurovision last night. God, am knackered today. Am doubly knackered, though, as was all wheezy last night, as friends have a cat, and even though I took an antihistamine, I always come back wheezing and homfing like an old lady. So back is sore today from lots of breathing in and out (if that makes sense). Hope I don't pass my asthma / eczema/ allergies etc etc to LO, although think it will be highly likely Going to have a nice resty day today and go through notes for college appeal. Ugh.

MW this week said that baby's 'arrival' patterns tend to follow the father's arrival... eg, dp was a week late... FFS. That's all I need to hear. I was a week early, why can't it be on the Mum's side??!!

pulapula · 17/05/2009 12:07

For those of us with LOs already, you can now post on the post-natal thread here

SpangleMaker · 17/05/2009 12:10

Sausage that's interesting, DH & BIL were both early as was H. But I doubt it's ever been proved, you have hope!

yep the thing they get concerned about with jaundice is how the baby is more than how yellow they look. When H was at his worst he was extremely sleepy, couldn't get him to feed & he practically slept through a bath! But he was still able to be treated on the ward with sessions on the bilibed.

Blottedcopybook · 17/05/2009 12:18

Well, I'm fairly certain that's too much for me to have accidentally peed...

pulapula · 17/05/2009 12:21

blotted- let's hope it was waters and not wee (like Jennster ), and that this baby will make a move.

emmabemmasmom · 17/05/2009 12:36

Hello ladies

Sorry don't have time to name check as Baby S is always wanting to be held lol

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to all who have wished us well and for all the happy birthday's! Very sweet!

Hoping to be able to have some time to catch up soon. DH has been great with DD1 but I swear I am just BFing allllll day!

And there goes baby S lol Better get my boobie out again!

sausagenmash · 17/05/2009 12:40

Oops emmabemmasmom - forgot to say the big congrats to you! Sounds absolutely amazing!

I agree, Spangle, nothing has been proven. I just need to be patient...

pulapula · 17/05/2009 13:00

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday to emmabemmasmom and reebee for today and minimenace for tomorrow. I bet your LO is just waiting to share your big day!

rosielady · 17/05/2009 15:56

Frazz Blotted and Mini - i feel your frustration - hopefully things will kick off in earnest very soon for you all.

Emmab and Reebee - may happy returns - hope you are having a lovely day.

Thanks everyone for your kind words of support over the car accident - I really appreciate it. I am so relieved also that everyone is okay. But today I keep getting a flash of if my DS was hit by a car, and how small he is and how he wouldn't have a chance - it's silly I know to think that way - but it happened so quickly and it makes me feel ill - how easily it can happen. A reminder to me to be much more careful now with my driving in future.

Been up to the allotment today with DS and DH - just hoeing trying to get on top of the weeds, but lovely breezy and sunny here - hope you are all able to enjoy the nice weather too.
