pulapula · 11/05/2009 22:49

Right then, i'm off upstairs now - time for DH to give me a quick shave down there, and i'm having a lepsip as i feel a bit blocked up and have a bit of a cough, courtesy of DS - hope it doesn't progress as coughing is not much fun after a cs!

minimenace · 11/05/2009 22:53

I occasionally co-slept with DS ... I sometimes used to fall asleep with him feeding in the lying down position, They taught me this in the hospital after my CS so that I didn't have to call them in the night and wait to have DS handed to me. They put a side up on the bed for me which was great.

When I got home I used to do the same and to sleep with my arm around him protectively and instinctively you never roll onto them. and if DH comes anywhere near them you automatically shove them in the back no matter how deep you are sleeping.

In fact I used to find I had the opposite problem - I would sleepily transfer DS back into his crib next to me and then forget I had done. Then I would wake up DH an hour or so later in a panic saying I had 'lost' the baby in the bed. DH would look across to the crib and see him fast asleep and shake his head in disbelief. This happened often until I stopped the feeding in our bed. One time I almost had DH searching under the bed as I had dreamed DS had rolled out and underneath.

pulapula · 12/05/2009 05:38

Good morning all- just having my early breakfast before nil by mouth starts. Been awake since needing a wee at 2.45am - not the best night's sleep before having a newborn but at least i was lying down and resting. Maybe i dozed a bit as i don't feel like i've been awake for 3 hours.

euromum · 12/05/2009 06:09

Hi Pula, hope you enjoyed your brek. Take it easy today and I hope all goes well later on. Thanks for befriending me on fb btw, looking forward to pics of your lo!

chocolatebunnies · 12/05/2009 07:46

Morning everyone

Things are just going from bad to worse down here in chocobunnies land,

Woke up this mornng, trudge into the kitchen and step in a huge puddle, no not my waters breaking, the freezer had been open all night, so w have no lost all the food that was in it, whats more annoying is the fact we went shopping last night and re-filled it, all wasted, feeling very hormonal today and trying not have an emotional breakdown whilst binning all the food, ice cream all my lovely not even open ice cream, mint choccy chip too

Now I've got to prepare for someone to come and fix my washing machine and have a dreaded feeling he's going to say its conked and we'll need a new one.

Someone cheer me up please

Congrats to all the ladies who had their babies yesterday v of all these quick labours, but with my luck at the moment mines going to go on or days Im sure!

Good luck today pula take care x

Im off for another cup of tea to calm me down

FiKelly · 12/05/2009 08:01

pulapula sods law you got a rotten nights sleep last night of all nights..

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 12/05/2009 08:03

Pula best of luck for today. Hope it's all ok.

flippineck as someone else said, flippineck!! Hugest congratulations and 'ouch'!!!! Another olympic-medal winning labour.

Bekkab - Massive congratulations (I don't think I've said this already).

Detsy what flavour Angel Delight? It's a secret vice of mine - the sort of thing my mum wouldn't let me have when I was a kid - I'm very partial to the chocolate and vanilla flavours (although I think the vanilla is an own-brand, even lower-rent version ). Hope it kick-starts labour, you never know!!

Frazz Bloody MIL's. I do just ignore mine when she rings. We haven't got anyone set up to look after the DD's, our families are at least an hour away so pointless and everyone we know has kids, just hoping we don't need any childcare . Sod's Law.......

Blotted How are you today?

Chocbuns Jesus, could anything else go wrong . Precisely what you don't need right now.

minimenace sorry but your mum made me , can't understand whay you can't give her plenty of notice and have your baby at a convenient time

Right, the school-run awaits....Sorry if I've missed everyone.

Blottedcopybook · 12/05/2009 08:25

Grumpy - I'm awake and feeling pretty anxious, I'm seeing the consultant today to book my induction and I'm terrified she's going to make me wait until Thursday or Friday. I've got myself all geared up to go in today so I'm about to go for a shower and shave my legs in the hope it'll encourage her that I'm truly ready! ;)

Pula Good luck today!

Flippin Well done you!

Choc Check your contents insurance! We had a powercut a few weeks ago and our contents insurance covered the total loss and Scottish Power paid the excess because it was their fault.

FiKelly · 12/05/2009 08:26

wrote my previous post an hour ago and forgot to post! chocolatebunnies oh nooo! what a disaster.. does your house insurance cover freezer food? not sure if the policies only cover probs or accidental losses too?

I too didn't sleep well.. ds kept waking up last night I think due to a couple of bad dreams and it blowing a gale outside for the night. dh and I didn't need to get up as ds settled himself quite happily with his blanky and mobile (we heard through the monitor).but every time I woke up I struggled to get comfy to go back to sleep.

still not sure if anything is starting or just in my head. back/bum just achey this am.. no pains, but feeling bit crampy at front under my bump , bowels bit loose this morning sorry tmi (but been like that since sat). not v hungry except for stem ginger cookies and now I've eaten a fair few for breakfast I'm not feeling sick. gah these things are prob totally unrelated. am i going to be symptom watching like this every day until things do actually kick off???

FiKelly · 12/05/2009 08:31

flippin not sure if I've said it already.. huge congratulations

minimenace · 12/05/2009 08:37

Morning all,
Well today is officially my hospital due date, according to my own dates I am a week overdue.
I now have just one week left to get moving before I lose sight of my VBAC.
Been having BH or 'false labour' all night long at one stage very strong tightenings 20 mins apart yet again nothing this morning.
I'm now officially miserable and fed up. I hope the MW has some good news for me today at least.

But I guess really I should be grateful my appliances are working - So sorry Chocbunnies hope things get sorted soon.

emmabemmasmom · 12/05/2009 09:00

Pula Good luck today! Bet you can't wait

bekka Ohhh congrats! Great name too Hope you are resting!

detsy Good luck with the sweep today. Hope you get that quite labour your after

flip Yeah! Wow, congrats More babies!! Can't wait to hear your name. And great job on the HB you wanted!!! Hope with some rest you will feel a little better. I too remember the pain afterward being the worst...

frazzle Oh, I know how you feel! My FIL is also on holiday and I don't think I have stressed more than I have in the last week! Thank god he is due home tonight...I am sure everything will work out

Choco Oh you poor thing! You have not had it easy the last few days. I hope the washing machine gets sorted today and then you can do one last stock up and relax. Sounds like you should just go back to bed

Sorry if I missed anyone! Still half asleep here...DD slept until 8 which was sooo nice of her.

DH is back to work which is nice as I have some space but he has been texting saying he misses us and wants to be home, which then makes me sad and miss him too...can't win.

Going to get more house work done today. Why oh why can't the house just stay clean? Why do I always have to do it again and again lol

Any more babies today??? Hmmm....lol

chocolatebunnies · 12/05/2009 09:07

I hadn't thought about contents insurance, I rang them, we are covered but we have to pay an excess and we'll lose ur no claims so theres no point in claiming on it, just going to have to replace it ourselves

The washing machine man has been and gone, we somehow managed to shred the belt that makes the drum spin, he's never seen anything like it and never known a belt to shred! Anywho he has stuck a new belt on and got it working again, so am £45 down but now have a working washing machine!

Mini sorry your feeling crappy today, join the club!

Madi is being a right pain this morning, she was interigating the engineer, asking 'what he was doing in myyyyyy daddys garage!' she keeps on insisting on emptying out all the baby stuff and if I hear one more time today that she wants a biscuit, I may explode!!!!

chocolatebunnies · 12/05/2009 09:09

god im a miserable bugger ay!

FiKelly · 12/05/2009 09:18

chocolatebunnies glad the washing was fixable and suppose it could have been a lot worse.. ds has also been asking for a biscuit but that's my own fault for wanting to eat them for breakfast! I gave in after he'd eaten some fruit.. drank his milk and let him have a garibaldi. they have raisins in them so not as bad as some (she tries to convince herself!)

detsy · 12/05/2009 09:23

pula good luck for this afternoon - you'll have a little squidgo to cuddle very soon xx

Choc a working wash machine - hooray - not as bad as it might have been!

Sweep in an hour (new baby in 2 hours.... lol) Am so uncomfortable, struggling to stand up due to elvis pressure. DD being a proper little madam this morning - thank heaven its a nursery day

Lol @ blotted re leg shaving - have no doubt that that wil make their decision pretty final - when is your due date, can't keep up with all the goings on on here! I'm off for a shower and to do the same

detsy · 12/05/2009 09:25

Grump it was choc flavour - scrummy. i like butterscotch too, not tried vanilla... hmmm maybe later!!

Oh and DD and i did make cup cakes the other day - ended up with loads and we've eaten them all .... oh dear...

Febes · 12/05/2009 09:46

Hehehe detsy just laughing at your elvis pressure.
Well I had a horrible sleep was awake at 2.30 checking my waters hadn't broken in bed I could feel LO moving against my cervis though was clearly imagining it all as went back to sleep eventually and still no baby. . Did have loose bowels today and morning sickness so threw up in DDs rubbish bin but like fi I'm sure I'm just over analysing the symtoms and will drive myself mad. Oh well sweep tomorrow so will at least find out the state of things.

flippin congrats!! I'm not at all .

choc glad the washing machine is sorted. My mum defrosted her freezer and then went round to my nanas and knocked her plug out as well within about 2 weeks of eachother. she was

frazzledoldbag · 12/05/2009 10:19

Morning all - choco poor you, not surprised you're hacked off - but glad your w/machine in fixed. Phew!
detsy thanks for the reminder - must shave my legs before 3pm when my sweep is booked, how awful to turn up with hairy pins!

Just been cleaning out my kitchen cupboards and organising all my medicines. What is wrong with me - I don't do things like this, ever!!!! And last night I emptied out the laundry room, and am half way through re-ironing all the bedding, pillowcases etc. DH can't believe his eyes (but I think is secretly delighted at my housewifely skills emerging at last). Have also had a few 'loose' ahem visits to the loo in the last day or so, and have been feeling quite sick at nights. Lots of strong BH and stabbing pains in the fanjo area too - they make me stand on one leg and squeal. DH keeps saying 'oh, is it coming out, shall I phone mum?' each time it happens. Er no, not yet. Really hope the midwife can reach my cervix to do the sweep later (usually I have to sit on my fists - even in labour - as they can never reach it).

Funny (ish) story - DH ran a 10K race on Sun morning and borrowed my ipod to listen to whilst running. He set it to 'random' play and set off ......... and ended up listening to my hypnobirthing labour stuff on his way round. He was very unimpressed! Apparently it's all 'a bit weird'! Ha ha.

Anyway must do some actual work now - turns out the bank want some spreadsheets from me (by yesterday) but hadn't bothered to tell me. Not happy. Just what I feel like doing now (not). Fingers crossed for more babies today. Hello to all the new mummies too - hope you all had a decent night last night.
x

frazzledoldbag · 12/05/2009 10:22

oh and mini good luck with your sweep. Hopefully all your tightenings have been doing some good. Look forward to catching up later.

frazzledoldbag · 12/05/2009 10:24

oh and also mini LOL at your mum needing 'plenty of notice' to meet you at the hosp so she can get her face on first..........so funny. My MIL is keen on gin, so my worry is she'll need plenty of notice in order to sober up first God, hope she doesn't read this!

runningmonkey · 12/05/2009 10:24

Morning all,
Have prob missed you pula but am thinking of you. hope all goes well.

Ooh detsy and grump, might just have to go out for some angel delight later, love the stuff have also been known to eat it straight out of the mixing bowl too.

Choc hugs I did that with the freezer a few months back, bloody annoying isn't it. Glad the washing machine works tho!

Mw has just been, head is 4/5 engaged and she reckons I won't be long. They don't do sweeps until 41 weeks tho! but she said I should be as active as poss and have lots of sex with DH as its by far the best method of induction

Not sure what to do with my day now, have to wait in for sainsbo's delivery in the next hour or so but otherwise I am a lady of leisure. Might take a stroll to the library seeing as its so sunny.

sausagenmash · 12/05/2009 10:26

Oooh congrats to bekka and flip - how exciting! Can't wait to see more baby pics...

Re MILs - I had mine (well, MIL2b) on the phone AGAIN yesterday wittering on about some tosh - something about pretty coloured plastic boxes with black lids which you can stack on each other which she's got for us to 'put baby things' in.... also says that her name is a nice name for the baby.... aaaargh.. then going off on one about BIL2b's godson who's one, can't believe how time flies, and he needed wrapping paper and why didn't he just go round to hers as she has loads, and the flower boxes are going up in the garden for some petunias, and the wash is on because its so sunny..... omg.... help.

Ahem, well, we got the carseat sorted which was the cause of our biggest argument really which had really upset me (see a few posts back) - had a friend round in the end to help out. Dp was at his blokes only NCT class last night, and everyone had been having the same trouble, so we are all sorted now. Dp has to unpack and repack my hospital bag tonight - part of his NCT homework (probably a good idea as he hasn't touched it)

Ok - advice PLEASE this time - raspberry leaf tea. Dp has brought me some teabags - how often is recommended to have a cup? Am due 2 weeks tomorrow. Would be grateful for any tips... pleeeease...

choc - phew re washing machine!

sophietom · 12/05/2009 10:29

choc sorry to hear about your start to the day- it made me smile that you seemed most upset not about the loss of all the food you'd stocked up on but your ice cream supply, I'd be exactly the same! Can you send someone out on an emergency ice cream mission? I think you should get some 'posh' icecream to cheer yourself up

hugs to all those symptom watching and waiting for labour to start- I'm sure I'll be the same as I get closer to my due date

Lovely sunny day here so am thinking about giving aqua natal a miss and going for a walk along the canal instead. DP has day off work so I may be able to persuade him to tag along (esp if I pack a picnic!) Will have to change out of my pyjamas first though...
