emmabsmom, i love pizza and would probably risk eating it cold. mmm.

having chilli tonight we made Sun evening but kept well in the fridge - should I now be worried about that? well, going to eat it anyway as we've nothing else to eat .

Tums, my sis is coming to visit in a few weeks I'll see if she can bring some across. However, by the time i get them sent out to you, you'll prob all be birthing and won't need antacid tablets! Anyway, please place your orders if interested.

FiKelly · 08/04/2009 12:50

jael how childish and unprofessional of your mw. mention it to the hospital when you go and maybe you could do your last mw app's with one there instead?

FiKelly · 08/04/2009 13:07

Yum just had Illegal runny yoke fried egg sarni [feeling naughty but satisfied emoticon]

Momino · 08/04/2009 13:07

jael, your MW is certainly being insensitive and not professional at all grrr.

EmmalinaC · 08/04/2009 13:16

Afternoon ladies - you're chatty today.

Welcome lehowell. Hope you like it here - it is a lovely thread!

Jael at your midwife.

Frazzled we just did an NCT refresher course. My DH was very reluctant but actually he admitted afterwards that he really enjoyed it. Don't know if it's the same where you are but we had two sessions for ladies only, then an evening with our menfolk. As all the men were there against their will we pre-warned our babysitters and bribed our boys with the promise of a pint afterwards - so they could reassert their masculinity standing around the bar talking about sport/cars etc - and we all had a lovely evening!

Pula I think you were wondering yesterday about Gaviscon for burps... DON'T DO IT! It will certainly stop you burping but it's a reflux suppressant so it traps everything in your stomach and will make you much more uncomfortable. Try Wind-Eze instead, which does what the name suggests.

And chocbunnies I'm glad it was a false alarm. Don't be embarrassed about trapped wind pain. I had it so badly after my emcs that I spend the whole night ringing the buzzer and begging for morphine .

Hope everyone else is ok. We've been painting eggs this morning ready for Sunday's easter egg hunt. Personally I'm more interested in the chocolate ones. And the Lindt bunnies...

Oh and by the way think you're all very rude: drippy la-las, man-stuff, swallowing... Whatever next? Don't answer that sausage...

FiKelly · 08/04/2009 13:16

wishing ds would eat his lunch a bit faster so i can have pudding! the magnum's are calling me but can't get them out or ds won't want his ham and cucumber sarni anymore..

alapala · 08/04/2009 13:19

those bastards in the madrid police just towed my car!! left stranded without the pushchair and a hungry DS, I could have killed them. They admit it was an error, so free, but we still have to collect it, and DH doesnt have his keys on him. AAAArgh. What it is it with my day off - last week an accident and today a tow!!

emmabemmasmom · 08/04/2009 13:20

momino Ohhhh would she really take an order? lol Everytime I go to the states I carry an empty duffle bag and bring it back loaded with goodies! I would not want to impose but there are a few things I would love if she would not mind. I can send you a check ahead of time or Paypal which ever...totally on board for this one! lol

Yeah well I caved and ate all 5 slices of pizza, half a brownie, and 2 fruit musli bars in about 5 min...why? I don't know...

Should I be concerned about blurred vision today? I thought I was just tired...but I don't feel more tired than usual and I can hardly focus on the monitor. It gets all fuzzy and blends together so I have been skimming. Also, tried to read a book while DD naps and can't read that either. Anything I need to worry over?

rosielady · 08/04/2009 13:22

Hi Frazzle - I am in Scotland and offer my support - I am due 10 days after you - but if I get an elective C/s it may be earlier - got an appointment with the consultant on Friday along with another scan to discuss options.

Although - I don't know how much help I would be as I wasn't even conscious for delivery of DS! I don't really have a clue when it comes to natural labour!

I am a bit anxious about Friday's meeting, as with DS 1 I was induced after 10 days overdue, then had continuous contractions from there in - then midwife picked up on baby in stress and before I knew it - they broke my waters, saw some blood and put me under a general to do the CS - suspected placental abruption is in my notes, but not confirmed. And after looking it up recently, risks are higher of it happening again if happened before and if older - I am 37. So do you think I should just go for an elective if the consultant agrees?

pulapula · 08/04/2009 13:36

EmmaC- thanks for the advice- I knew i shouldn't have just asked DH to get Gaviscon and should have looked at the packets first- just assumed if it helped with heartburn, it would do something for wind. I have a cup of peppermint tea waiting now, so that should help in the meantime. If anyone wants my gaviscon tablets, i'm happy to post them, as doubt i'll ever need them...or else i can try my pg sister...

alapala - how annoying, especially as you weren't at fault- they should deliver it back to you.

rosielady- I'm sure if you've had a cs before, your consultant would agree to one again. So really it depends if you want to have a go naturally first.

EmmalinaC · 08/04/2009 13:39

emmabemmasmom you should call your midwide - 'visual disturbances' can be a symptom of pre-eclampsia. It could be caused by other things too but you should get your BP and urine checked just in case...

alapala - it's bad enough when you deserve to have your car towed but when they make a mistake...?! I am outraged on your behalf. And didn't you have a small prang the other day too? Maybe it's not your lucky week with all things car-wise? Time to go home and put your feet up.

FiKelly · 08/04/2009 13:44

emmabe i've had those sort of weird vision probs before being pregnant.. I got my eyes tested and nothing wrong.. started multi vitamin and probs went away.. are you still taking a pregnancy vitamin? if you're worried about pe do you have any other symptoms.. headaches.. swelling etc. you could phone your local Ante-natal ward at the hospital for a chat and see what they think..

sausagenmash · 08/04/2009 13:47

Pulapula - hang on - that list - so blozzering and (ahem) accepting the produce is supposed to bring on labour? Blalaaaaaaaarrrrghhhh!! Soz, emmalinaC - I lowered the tone again...

Fikelly - omg - that illegal sandwich sounds like heaven! Do you all think we can now be a bit more relaxed about illegal foods? Am going to my Godson's 18th birthday party on Friday, and I bet there will be smoked salmon, squidgy cheese, pate and all other things naughty..... I did have a runny egg the other day as well, mind... and I was fine.... (she says, trying to convince herself...)

pulapula · 08/04/2009 13:49

rosielady- i should also say if you are thinking about an elective, you will need someone around to help with your DS in the first few weeks, if he still needs lifting in any way (highchair, bath... not sure how old he is). Also if you rely on your car, again, this will be an issue.

My DH has arranged to have 3 weeks off, then work part-time for the next 3 weeks (working on the days when our DCs are in nursery), so i should be OK, but not sure i could manage without his help for the first month anyway. I can barely lift DS into his cot and highchair as it is- my stomach muscles are really weak .

pulapula · 08/04/2009 13:52

sausage- yes according to frazzled it is, and i have heard it elsewhere before- i can understand it could have special properties when it comes into contact with the cervix, but am a bit about its impact when digested lol.

FiKelly · 08/04/2009 13:55

alapala grrr at the madrid police leaving you stranded because of their mistake

rosie you won't have to convince the consultant to do another cs.. when you've had one already the options available to us for natural deliveries are more limited.. they worry our cs incision will rupture with long labours etc.. so although happy to let us have a go at vbac it's with monitoring and still possibility of cs if things don't go smoothly..

pulapula · 08/04/2009 13:55

Oh, and yet again, i am meant to be working from home this afternoon- better get logged on!

Hypatia · 08/04/2009 14:01

I had a horrible night sleep last night, complete with sleepwalking. At some point in the night I got out of bed and took everything off my bedside table (lamp, books, water glass etc.) and stacked it on the floor.

I vaguely remember having a dream I was stacking heavy dishes and at one point I do remember lifting something that was a stack of plates or papers or something but that felt like the bedside lamp but I just thought I was dreaming. Apparently not.

I also accidentally stepped on the cat (Rollie) this morning after breakfast, and his scream inflamed the other one (Tia), who attacked me and left big bloody gashes down my leg.

My husband and I also had a stupid fight last night which has left us both completely out of sorts. I am really not having a good morning so far (at just past 9am) so I hope most of you are having a better one than I am.

Back to marking essays for me!

emmabemmasmom · 08/04/2009 14:08

Well my bp has been fine through out so far. I have noticed swelling in my ankles and was going to mention it next week. I don't think it would be pe because I was fine last week when I saw my mw...can it happen that suddenly? Just weird with my vision. I do take pg vitamins and iron everyday...so yeah I don't know.

rosielady · 08/04/2009 14:11

Fikelly Pula - thanks for the advice.

DS is 3.3 so doesn't really need lifting. DH is self employed but will be off first 2 weeks on paternity leave. DS will still be at nursery 2.5 days so DH will drop off and pick up until I am up to a 20min walk each way / or can drive again - whatever is sooner. DH would also be around for bath time.

It really is only the recovery time after CS that is making me think that maybe I should try a natural birth - but so mentally unprepared for that and scared something goes wrong.

I just don't want to get induced again, as it was so aggressive for me, and I am sure it triggered the problems. But MW said I wouldn't get induced again as I have already had a CS. So I presume, if I went over term they would have to give me a CS anyway?

Jael · 08/04/2009 14:17

I give up with my MW now. When I phoned DP to tell him what had happened he wasn't very happy at all either. There's only one MW at my doctors surgery, so no chance of seeing another one, and I already have enough trouble getting to that surgery, so it's not like I can go to a differnt surgery. I mean is it normal for her to say she doesn't need to see me again, when I'm only getting to see a consultant next week who's going to go through the CS with me, it's not like I'm being checked over by a MW next week. So in theory I'm seeing consultant next week who's going to tell me what's going to happen with the elective Cs and then the next time i'll be in hospital is my actual CS day Jael X

Momino · 08/04/2009 14:17

emmab'smom, i would call MW just in case. she will ask you the right questions to determine (unless belgian is around .

I will most certainly take your order for US good. Just find me on f/book or email me in the next couple of days and we'll see what she can do. I usually ask for Hidden val ranch dip mix, goodnplenty, jars of Salsa (can't find good salsa here), A1 steak sauce... and can't remember what else. the longer I stay here, the less I do miss these things so the list has dwindled after nearly 12 years.

Momino · 08/04/2009 14:22

alapala, i'd be so as well... poor you!

hypathia, a little at sleep-stacking your 'dishes': be careful!

FiKelly · 08/04/2009 14:24

rosie yes if you go over there's no messing about.. straight to cs. my consultant said happy to let me go to due date but not much over that. I had induction last time and delighted to not have to bother with it this time.

emmabe yes the pe can appear that quick.. I'd had swelling for a while.. nothing else. then at my next mw app suddenly 3+++ in pee and high bp. maybe you should pop into Ante-natal ward for a quick check..

Jael · 08/04/2009 14:25

Anymore news on Spangle by the way? I'm dying to see some pics lol
