mathsmummy27 · 31/03/2009 21:30

thanks Nutty I think 3 is enough for me...

DH has just told me off as they're too lovely..he is wailing about having to go on Wii Fit immediately. I lurve being pregnant

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 21:31

Mmmmmm cookies....

HV bronze - what is that???!! Just kidding, have hear hide nor hair from mine! Don't even know how I would get hold of her if I had too

mathsmummy27 · 31/03/2009 21:33

Not usual in my area to hear from them before the birth..but afterwards my gawd can you not get rid of them and their helpful advice.

Not bitter.

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 21:35

I have actually heard really bad things about the HV in our area so am not looking forward to it!

SpringySponge · 31/03/2009 21:36

Sorry, had to go & eat dinner. Whilst watching the Sex Education programme on channel 4

Babies are fine at 36 weeks - I'm sure a few people have been told that they'd be able to have HBs from 36 weeks, etc. So long as there are no other signs that the baby's underdeveloped...

My dates are 3 days out from what the hospital reckon - what difference could that really make? As someone wisely said, units of time are a human concept. Our bodies work independently of that.

bronze · 31/03/2009 21:37

No its a new thing here too. I dont mind my hv she refers the kids if I ask her too and leaves me to it unless I request her help. She helped me get dd home so I'm forever grateful to her.

SpringySponge · 31/03/2009 21:37

Ooh, cookies for me please!

& I got a letter from the HV team, but I don't think that I have to see anyone until after the baby's born.

Claireykitten · 31/03/2009 21:42

Hi all when I last 'saw' you all I was setting off to have my baby turned as she was breech. Well the appointment was for 12 but of course no body saw me until 12.30 and so the saga begins!!

Bear with me this could take a while so I may not post the whole tale at once.

Before performing the ECV they needed to monitor baby on the CTG machine at which point they discovered that she had a high heart rate apparently they like the base rate to be between 120-160. At that point we were getting a base rate of 175-185ish with spikes to 200+. At this point we also found out that the Dr who was supposed to perform the ECV wasnt aware she was doing it but wasnt happy to proceed with that heart rate anyway. After being monitored again I was told at 2.30 I could come home and return the following day to continue with the planned ECV but the midwife wasnt happy with this decision and we ended up being monitored again. Rather than bore you with all the boring details suffice to say we had a steady stream of different Drs and midwives with differing opinoins as to whether we could go home until at 10pm a Dr said he wanted to get advise from his consultant and then came back in with a scanning machine to check babys position and guess what...... she had turned so he trotted off to his consultant again and finally at 10.45 I was told that due to her having an unexplained high heartrate they wanted to induce me and they were going to do it there and then! At some point around this time I decided I had had enough of being messed around and I decided that I wanted a section and so began the fight to get my own way or get anything done at all. I had had the first lot of prostin at approx 11pm and was told I would receive the second lot at 8am. Cant remember exactly what time I actually got the second lot but apparently I had made fantastic progress and they would either break my waters or give me my section depending on how favourable my cervix was this should have happened at about 4pm finally got checked again at 11ish and after getting really upset and irate and ranting I got a lovely midwife and doctor with whom we agreed that since a section wouldnt be happening until the following day anyway I may as well have a 3rd lot of prostin overnight and see what it did as i would be in no worse position than I currently was so i was sent up to the ward for rest on the agreement that I was coming down at 7.30 to have my waters broken before the Dr went off shift. When I went down to delivery in the morning I was having contractions and everything was looking fantastic and I was flat on my back on the bed the Dr was stood with the crochet hook in her hands and someone came and dragged her away to an emergency! So I was then rather irate as I then spent until 4pm being told that Dr had to go to theatre and would get to me eventually by this time I had stopped contracting and everything so was feeling really downheartened that anything waould happen but when I was checked it was decided that if they broke my waters and put the drip up straight away rather than waiting that I should progress quite well I ended up with the g&a when the contractions hit at about 5.30 and an epidural at 7pm and Violet Rose made her entrance into the world at 8.49pm weighing in at 7lb 9oz. Although Violet was perfectly fine and healthy I had a PPH of almost 2L so became a battered and bruised pin cushion as they desperately tried to get fluids back into me. Was finally released home at about 7pm on Monday with a hb level of 7.7 so as you may imagine I am very wobbly and achey and tired but am just so so glad to be home with my gorgeous family as I had missed DS so much as I hadnt seen him since I left him Thursday morning.

I hope that all makes sense and I havent missed anything out since as you can imagine the days have kinda blurred into one another.

BoffinMum · 31/03/2009 21:42

Swali, my mw said she would be happy to do a home water birth for me at 36 weeks, so I wouldn't panic at all. One of my friends in Richmond had a baby at 36 weeks and it was fine too, she just had to make sure the baby fed regularly every 3 hours and didn't miss a feed through sleeping too long, apparently. The baby was very pretty and less rumpled because she was that bit smaller, and consequently a little less squashed looking after the birth.

Announcement no 2 of the day - we have broken the news to family about DS2's school move, and DS2 was absolutely delighted and is really looking forward to it. Phew!!! I am so utterly relieved. We are telling the current school tomorrow - DH will hand deliver a letter (because the office is crap and would probably only open something in May we put in the post tray in April ).

BabyBolat · 31/03/2009 21:47

Hey Clairey so glad you are home and can start being a family again.

Sounds like a nightmare start with a lovely ending - can't believe the hospital messed you around so much but at least Violet is ok and you are getting your strength back - how is DS enjoying being a big brother?

BoffinMum · 31/03/2009 21:47

Yay boff - so glad he is excited - how did you break the news?

mathsmummy27 · 31/03/2009 21:53

Clairey - sounds like a lot of faffing - typical NHS - but ultimately a good outcome for you both. congratulations!

SpringySponge · 31/03/2009 21:56

Clairey, what an amazing story - I can't imagine how frustrating it must've been at times!

Massive congratulations to you all. Fabulous

Claireykitten · 31/03/2009 22:03

I am just attempting to set up my profile so I can post pics so just bear with me I am trying very hard and failing dismally!!!

BoffinMum · 31/03/2009 22:04

We chatted to him in our bedroom before he had his bath, and told him that we thought it would help his learning to move schools and that we had found a better place for him that we thought he would like. We then said that they also had a bigger swimming pool and playground, that the uniform was optional, and that the dinners were supposed to be very good. By now he was rolling around in excitement on our bed. We said he would have to do more homework and music practice, and he said he wouldn't mind. We reminded him he knew the building already as he had been to summer camp there a few times, and then he looked even more pleased. Then he went off to get ready for his bath, and his brother came in and asked if the news was true, so we explained the move to him.

I feel really good about all this now.

SpringySponge · 31/03/2009 22:06

Aww, bless him. I love when kids get excited like that
