arnica - here are my notes from NCT.

Take Arnica200 straight after the birth. Take a 2nd dose 2 hours after the 1st and then a 3rd dose 6 hours after the 1st dose. Then move onto Arnica30 3 x times a day until feeling better.

June2009 · 03/04/2009 22:44

Quick question about arnica, can we get it on prescription?

MrsMcJnr · 03/04/2009 22:51

Hey girls Xmas Smile loving the festive emoticons Xmas Grin

Naat ? I did laugh my head off at DS in the sprinkler ? he looked such a sight! Xmas Grin what a monkey he is! Xmas Grin how is the dissertation going?

Insy ? your pilates DVD sounds like my Davina one ? still in the cellophane since last pregnancy Xmas Blush I was exactly the same with the collected milk Xmas Smile I wondered though (and still do) whether all I was collecting was foremilk and so I used to mix the milk leaked with that expressed to try and get a good mix for a full bottle ? does that sound mad?? Enjoy your adventure Xmas Grin

Ineedmore ? glad to hear DS is on the mend Xmas Smile no dark armpits here but no linea negra this time either Xmas Grin Great news about FIL Xmas Grin

Littlesarah ? I used those breast shell things with DS and stored the collected milk, precious stuff Xmas Smile leaking brings back memories of getting dry from a shower all nice and clean and then suddenly realising that I have heard or thought about DS and that there is milk pouring out of me Xmas Hmm sorry to hear about your nursery debt Xmas Sad

Ermintrude ? Star Wars disco Xmas Grin fab!

Just had a power cut! Thank goodness for Autorecover Xmas Smile although I have lost some but don?t know what Xmas Blush

Dreamy ? hello there Xmas Smile Glad you are feeling a bit better now. How is your DH these days by the way? Feeling much better I hope. That?s a good idea about the bed pads. Have fun in Wales Xmas Smile

Doris ? I agree about Lilypadz, great in bikinis/swimming costumes too Xmas Smile

Laura ? sanitary towel wise, I thought Always Night were really good. I used cotton wool and water with DS at home until he was about 2 months old; out and about I used wipes.

Hey Daisy Xmas Smile I thought that was interesting about the rule of thumb for contractions too, she?d just finished saying that they don?t consider you to be in labour unless you are 3cms dilated so I don?t know if that is what the 1 contraction/10 mins is meant to relate to. Personally (and if I wasn?t in the strep position) I wouldn?t want to go in at 3cms.

June ? that?s great news for your friend Xmas Grin

Congrats AuntieChoccie Xmas Grin what a big baby Xmas Shock and what a lot your sis went through! What?s the baby?s name? Xmas Smile I have the BT150 ? I do like it but the parent unit won?t now recharge so I have to use ordinary batteries every night! Xmas Hmm the sound is great though so am considering the BT100 for this baby, mainly because it has all the features I use on the BT150. Love that you can restart the lullabies remotely. How are you feeling now anyway?

Hello Bigcar Xmas Smile

Hey Tee Xmas Smile that?s what I did, warm water to DS?s change area in a top and tail bowl.

Shattered now, must get to bed, night, night Xmas Smile

MrsMcJnr · 03/04/2009 22:52

ok so I put an "f" in front if the smileys instead of a "b"

lauraloo09 · 03/04/2009 23:33

evening all

just thought i'd make a quick post before going to bed, been catering tonight so I am knackered

I went into boots today and bought mostly everything for my hospital bag, I will be using cotton wool and water, but bought johnstones wipes they said it is basically wipes and water, no alcohol or perfume in it so I will prob use them for hospital and out and about. Bought my raspberry leaf tea (only bags tho was out of stock for the raspberry root will buy that later) and the arnica tablets

At work today they started complaining to me again about my mat leave situation, I was going to try and work on to May due to how busy the office is going to be, but as they were moaning I thought f@ck it and I now finish on 14th April (5 working days to go )

Anyhoo bed is calling...nighty night juners

loooouise · 03/04/2009 23:40

Oooh MrsMcJrn, power cut! How exotic! Did you get a quick bd in?

I've been following all your posts ladies, but didn't feel that I had anything interesting to say! I'll try and think of something tomorrow.

Daisy loving you loving your garden...I find planting very theraputic. I'm going to do my window boxes this weekend, so that like you, I have something pretty to look at when breastfeeding.

LittleSarah the nursery fee thing sucks. Poor poor you. I realised the other day that I haven't had a water bill for two years . Currently debating whether to fess up or keep quiet and face something horrible in a year's time...

Great advice on the arnica girls, btw, it hadn't occurred to me but I'm going to Covent Gdn on Monday, so will stock up.

I have reached a compromise on birth plan. Staying in London til I'm 38+ 5. If I deliver before then, mum will just have to rush down and stay with me for a week. If not, I'll be up north from 5th June for 9 weeks. Plan to give it a crack on my own back in my flat in London from when baby's 8 weeks old.
Oooh, it's so scary, exciting....

Hello to everybody. Congratulations on your niece Choccie!

Naat · 04/04/2009 00:34

Flash post before going to bed.
looouise Glad to see/read you! I was a bit worried, lady as we hadn't heard from you for a while.

I'll catch up properly and post tomorrow morning. Good night everybody!

Tee2072 · 04/04/2009 09:08

Good morning ladies with nearly babies!!

Off to Boots to stock up on baby stuff today. I have like £30 in Boots points and a £50 Boots Card from my birthday! So I'm off to spend spend spend!

Weather is awful here after such a lovely day yesterday .

loooouise glad you've reached a compromise you can live with.

laura I thought you weren't going to cater any more? Did you change your mind? And good on you about the Maternity leave. Honestly, they sound like a bunch of cows at your work.

daisy thanks for the Arnica information. Can I get that at Boots, or will I need to go to the health food store? Anyone know?

I hope everyone is enjoying lots of baby kicks!

Naat · 04/04/2009 09:19

Hello ladies!

Tee you can buy arnica in boots, I saw there yesterday. Enjoy your spending!!!

looouise as long as you're happy with the compromise, then it's ok. I hope you didn't have to bear any nasty calls, though, in order to make this decision. Enjoy your gardening!

laura rest rest rest I'm also glad your mat leave starts soon, your colleagues are nasty people... you'll be able to rest and take care of yourself and baby

MrsMc The dissertation is going well... I'm just to anxious to finish it and take it off my mind! I forgot to ask, how are you managing without the washing machine? Were you able to fix the other one? Or are you just going to the "laundromat"?

I bought pyjamas for D-day yesterday. I decided to go for a two-piece so as to have buttons to breastfeed... Confy and cheap in ASDA!

I think I'll buy the rest of the things today with DH. Lovely day here!!

Have a great Saturday morning, Juners!!! (waves to everyone!)

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 04/04/2009 14:09

HI there!

Enjoy your shopping Tee

Thanks for the tips on arnica people. I'll mission it to Boots at some point in the week to get some. There are a few bits and pieces I haven't got round to.

I keep worrying that my placenta won't have moved up and that they'll tell me after the 34 week scan that I'll have to have a C-section. I'm not overly concerned about the actual section, but the recovery with a toddler and a new-born and a DH who we can't afford to take any paternity leave. What with FIL poorly, and my family too far away, I'm not sure how we'll cope. . I know there's no point in worrying, but when it's the early hours and you can't sleep, you can't help these things flying round your head.

Anyway, the sun is shining and I need to hang the washing.

Have a happy Saturday girls xx

lauraloo09 · 04/04/2009 17:00

afternoon all - hope saturday shopping was good for you all. I was looking at monitors and the BT150 has £15 off in mothercare so might just go for that one

tee I did give up the catering but FIL had 4 jobs on last night so thought i'd help out last definite catering job is next Sunday as FIL has 2 christening buffets to do then I'm hanging up my chefs jacket.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 04/04/2009 20:18

Hi again,

Quick post before I lose my conectionn(AGAIN, sodding bloody BT!!![bangry})

Have been to primark for my (non nice) knickers and picked up some cotton wool and first size nappies -We have reuseables in the loft but we tried them with dd1 when she was first born and the bulk just made her look like a weeble and arch her back. So we'll wait before we decide to go ahead with those.

Whilst I was out I picked up a couple of new top as, by this point in the last 2 pregnancies I looked at my wardrobe and realised that most of it is either trashed or too small, and say "oh it's only a few weeks I'll manage". (tight wad emoticon) Oh how wrong!!! between post baby weight and breastfeeding (access in tops) it's usually ages before I get into my real clothes. So I have bought with an eye to the future i.e more stretch, less fabric. but ultimately I HAVE NEW CLOTHES!!!!

Was out in the garden today with dd1 setting seeds in her pots, we don't have a garden yet, as I was wall building when I found out I was pregnant so nothing has really moved forward in the last 6 months ( our 3rd summer with building rubble and no grass!) However I am planning on having a patio completed by June!

Right wavs to all

Off to write more lists and listen to birhing cd....

Tee2072 · 04/04/2009 20:25

Evening ladies.

I am so uncomfortable tonight. Right now I cannot believe I still have nearly 3 months to go!

I am now well supplied with cotton wool, cotton buds, sensitive skin baby wipes and a snot sucker! DH looked like this: when I told him what the snot sucker was for! I already purchased a pack of Newborn Pampers, so I could get my free changing bag!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 04/04/2009 22:10

I'm uncomfortable too Tee. I've had a really achey day and everything seems to have swelled up . Off for bed now, methinks....

Hope you feel better soon x

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 04/04/2009 22:14

You too Ineed.

Night ladies!!

Naat · 04/04/2009 22:32

Hi Juners!

Tee and Ineed hope you have a good night's sleep and a good rest. I'm knackered as well. We left home at 1pm and came back at 4 and I was dying! I napped for 2hs and I still feel sleepy and tired

Glad everyone who did shopping today found some good things. Doris I also went to primark and bought some big pants for those first days... very cheap, 6 for 1.96! I only bought one pack to try the size, I'll go for more next week Sorry your internet connection is acting up

laura good to know next Sunday is the last day you cater and after that you're freeeee! The BT monitor offer sounds good, and the ladies here have given good comments on those BT ones, so go for them

Ineed happy thoughts and prayers for your placenta to move Don't feel bad about being a bit worried, I think any of us would feel the same...

Going to bed soon, I think. DH wants to watch a movie together but I think I'll start but not finish it

Waves!!

MrsMcJnr · 04/04/2009 22:51

Hey girls DH is out watching Malaga play real Madrid so I have been pottering all evening and am now shattered

Laura ? what I would give for a browse around Boots I will have to make do with a trip to Morrisons in Gibraltar in a few weeks time to finish stocking my hospital bag! How annoying about your work mates hope those 5 days go fast

Loooouise ? LOL certainly no BDing going on here but then again DH was also out for the evening are you happy with the compromise reached hon? Sending hugs, you sound a little low x

Hi Naat can?t believe I have managed without a washing machine for 8 weeks! the laundrette now calls DH ?boss? can?t wait to start washing the baby?s things at the new place ? we got keys today though the owners were there cleaning when we dropped by so I plan to go tomorrow and just imagine ourselves there DH?s best man, wife and 2 boys arrive tomorrow for 10 days will be lovely to see them. They have rented an apartment near us

Hi Tee ? don?t think you can get the Arnica tablets at Boots, think you?ll need a health shop. Sorry to hear you are uncomfy hope tomorrow is a better day

Ineed ? I have the same fear, at my last private Drs appointment he wrote that it was Grade 2 whereas the time before it was Grade 1 so it sounds like it is getting closer to the cervix not further away fingers crossed for you hon, keep telling myself that most of them move up hope that works for you!! Hope you feel more comfy tomorrow

Doris ? new clothes lovely! I was given a whole lot of lovely summer mat clothes by a friend but she was at least a size smaller than me so I am squeezing in hoping I don?t look too silly

Night, night ladies !!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 05/04/2009 05:15

Hi all. Thanks for kind words about my worries about my placenta. SOrry to hear that you are suffering the same probs MrsMcJnr.

I've been awake since 4am. I can't seem to get over this bout of insomnia and I'm so exhausted. My brother and his lovely girlfriend are up for lunch today for his birthday so I won't get a nap in. Still, it'll be lovely to see them.

MrsMcJnr - I bet you are so excited to be moving soon. There are so any Juners on the move before the bubs arrive, aren't there? Maybe it's all part of nesting.

Naat - Hope you enjoyed your movie. I managed two episodes of The West Wing last night before I crawled off to bed. Congrats on your cheap-pants-bargain!

Doris - our garden is also a building site. We've got to build a shed at the end before we can do anything else as there is a monstrosity of an 'air-craft-hanger' that takes up all the garden nearest the house. Unfortunately, it stores a huge amount of stuff so we need to build something else before we can knock it down. The whole garden rests on this and it's so frustrating. Of course, we could buy a shed and build it in a weekend but, typically, DH wants to build one from scratch so I've had to wait a year for it to happen. So frustrating. I hope you manage to build your patio before bub arrives.

Tee - Hope you slept better than me.

Right, back off to bed to try and grab an hour before DS wakes up.

Love to you all xx

Morning Juners!

ineed not really! Was up twice to wee and then had a hard time falling back to sleep the second time. I think I will have a bath in a bit and then some lunch and then a nap!

I am very at various people's gardens. DH and I are discussing moving to a house, but not until next year at the earliest. Of course, I have a black thumb...

naat thanks for reminding me I need to get to Primark for cheap pants!

Have a lovely day, ladies!

lauraloo09 · 05/04/2009 16:47

afternoon juner's hopefully everyone had a ncie day

DH was cutting the grass today and garden looks better. We have a patio which the previous owner laid, but its full of weeds (am I right in thinking I cannot use weedkiller whilst pregnant?) Hopefully if weather stays nice DH wil deweed patio on Tuesday.
I worked in the garden during the week and at the side of the house there is a nice long part which I am thinking of growing rose bushes but I am not the green fingered type and don't know how to plant things, everythign I plant dies if some green fingered juners could help it would be appreciated

tee & ineed sorry to hear you never slept well, neither did I DH is the key holder for Primark and the alarms went off at 2am! So I had to take him into work and got home at 2.45 so just stayed up and watched the rest of To Kill a Mockingbird, finally got back to sleep at 5am!

Anyhoo better go and find something for dinner, it's too nice a day and I cannot be bothered cooking!

Tee2072 · 05/04/2009 17:12

Afternoon!

Feel much better after a long bath, a quick trip to the shops and nap!

Sorry laura I also have a black thumb!

Hope everyone had a nice day.

June2009 · 05/04/2009 19:22

Hiya!

Glad I'm not the only one with insomnia. I had a really hard time getting to sleep last time, I got up 12 times to go to the loo and finally fell asleep around 5am, just could not find a good position to sleep in, baby kept moving, I was thirsty (then needed the loo pretty much straigth away), I got hungry too.
We got up around 10am though which was nice, did a bit of shopping and then had the ils for bbq late lunch.

Laura I thought about you in Tesco, they have big Easter Creme Eggs ;)

Dh has cleaned the entire patio with the karsher and it looks like new, amazing.
We hadn't done it in three years (cause of renovation work) and I forgot we had different colour tiles!!
It'll be the first year we fully enjoy it this summer, the wait is worth it guys, we'd been living in a building site since mid-2006!

We went to mothercare yesterday and I finally got some knickers that fit properly, at last!! Also got some nursing nighties but having watched the breastfeeding dvd afterwards and seen the SIZE of these women's breasts I think I may need bigger ones!!!

MrsMcJnr · 05/04/2009 20:00

Hey ladies very quiet today, hope that means you have all been out enjoying yourselves [bmile]

lauraloo09 · 05/04/2009 20:10

june i saw those easter cream eggs DH had to drag me away from them you've also reminded me to get DH to clean our patio need a good bbq spot for the summer

blueberrysorbet · 05/04/2009 20:28

hello ladies, sorry am not able to come and post as much as i want. we moved this weekend and what with my ds1 just turned 2 plus my dh new job and working with only one day off a week, its very exhausting. i must say i am thinner this prgny, due to running after ds1, not sitting eating

2 months away, feels like forever right now.. baby kicks and keeps me awake, then wakes up about 4 and kicks til 6- ds1 wakes at 6.30 and then the day begins. he doesn't nap either dh leaves at 8 and gets in about midnight.

right, enough wailing, am going to read this thread!
