Right Helllo everyone. I have fifteen minutes to write this before i need to go out so it may be a half done BS.!

4th March:

Was feeling a bit wierd all day and very uncomfortable but thought it was just down to baby boy being stuck under my ribs! Went to Hubby's Chiropractor appointment with him then popped into a work friend. Got takeaway on the way home. Was sitting on sofa feeling increasingly more uncomfortable (but now thinking ths was down to eating too many chips!)

9pm: Decided to have a bath which helped a little bit.

10pm: Went to bed very ratty cos I couldnt get comfortble even with about 7 pillows....

11pm: Kept getting spasms in my back which I thought were just joint pains as they were only on my right hand side.

1pm: Got up to go to the loo. had bad tummy (sorry if TMI) and threw up twice into a bucket whilst on the loo. When I wiped I had bloody discharge (again sorry if TMI). I was concerned about the blood so decided to ring the delivery suite triage. They did not seem that concerned and said I probably had a show but if I was worried I should pop myself in.

1.15am Asked Hubby to take me in (hubby at this point very unimpressed with me as I had left my sick bucket in the bathroom and refused to take me to hospital till I disposed of it!) lol.

1.30am Driving to hospital I decided to time how often pains were coming and was shocked to discover they were very regulary 3 minutes!

2am: Arrived on delivery suite and they put me on monitor. Still having pains but not really appearing on monitor.

3am: SHO (doctor) came to examine me to see if cervix open but she could not tell cos I had a pessary inserted for a clinical trial (preventing premature birth lol). She then called in Reg to examine me and he also did a quick scan to see position of babies.

4am ish(times getting a bit hazy now...) Transfered into a delivery room and giving nifedipine (to try and stop labour) and betamethsone (steroids for babies lungs).
Nifedipine had no effect whatsoever. was given co-dydramol (useless!) and was then offered gas and air.

Gonna post at this point so I dont lose what I have written!

Juwesm · 13/03/2009 10:17

Don't think much of your clinical trial pessary Kaz!!!

brettgirl2 · 13/03/2009 10:17

So is this the 15 minutes worth from Kaz? It was just starting to get exciting!

PuzzleRocks · 13/03/2009 10:18

Kaz - come back, don't tantalize us like that.

Juwesm · 13/03/2009 10:19

I reckon she may still be typing away......

brettgirl2 · 13/03/2009 10:22

It's a bit like those gold blend adverts

kazkiss · 13/03/2009 10:24

Felt aware that there were suddenly more people in the room although everytime someone spoke to me I told them I would be back in a minute! (effect of the gas and air methinks)

Overheard one of the midwifes saying she had contaced the special care baby unit to let them know to expect the babies.

Reg came into the room and said only option now was emergency C section (i could have hugged him!) as pains were now every 2 mins and spreading to front of stomach.

I was prepared for theatre (which just meant putting a gown on and taking my underwear off)

At some point hubby got dressed in scrubs (he looked very sweet!)

I asked midwife if I could take G and A to theatre with me (they said no but I could take the mouthpeice to bite on!)

Was wheeled to theatre and put a hat on. was sat on the op table and had hubby in front of me holding my hand whilst they put in spinal. (not painful at all!)

Legs went dead and I laid down. Lots of theatre stuff going on and they put the screen up.

It actually seemed to take ages for the first baby to come out (found out later that was because when they opened me I was abrupting and there was blood everywhere) Isabelle was born and 5.36 and taken by the midwife the resus unit behind me (she was fine just being checked over )she started to cry. Oliver was born 2 mins later. Izzie was wrapped up and had a quick cuddle before she was taken to scbu. Ollie was brought over for a quick kiss then taken off.

I was getting inpatient now as things down the business end seemed to be taking ages... (was because I was heamarroging so they were manually massaging my uterus. ) I was just getting fed up of the rummegeing lol. I was then all sown up and taken to recovery and was having nice chat with midwifes and aneastist. then was taken back to delivery suite.

Gonna post again..

Juwesm · 13/03/2009 10:26

Type more slowly you loon !

SmuttyNutSack · 13/03/2009 10:29

BB - hooray for the car!! i'm nervous for him!! thank goodness a passed a year ago (9th time too) though the pre test feelings are all to clear in my mind lol

Kaz - loving the installments

Juwesm · 13/03/2009 10:30

Pre-test feelings

PuzzleRocks · 13/03/2009 10:31

Loving the bite size birth story.

kazkiss · 13/03/2009 10:32

lol still here!

I was told back on delivery suite that I had lost 2.5 litres of blood (but i felt fine).

Hubby went to see babies and said they were both fine izzie was 4lb6 and ollie 3lb7. Ollie needed some oxygen in his incubator but was ok. Izzie was just covered in blood and had ingested some so they gave her antibiotics.

The doc from the scbu came and saw me on the delivery suite to update me on their progress and brought me some piccis.

I had a catheter inserted in theatre and nurses were concernd I was not passing enough water. So later at night the put in another one (not as bad as I thoght it would be) I had bed bath then was wheeled round in wheelchair to see babies. (strangely a bit of a haze cant really remember much (a self -protection mechanism I think)

I spent two days on delivery suite cos a) my urine retention ) then I needed a blood transfusion cos I had a HB of 5.6 ( very low) Although only sypmtom I had was fast pulse!)

I eventually went to ward and was able to WALK myself round to scbu often to see babies.

SmuttyNutSack · 13/03/2009 10:32

Juwesm · 13/03/2009 10:36

I'm having a bacon roll in your honour Kaz, excellent edge-of-seat story!

SmuttyNutSack · 13/03/2009 10:37

Puzzle - indeed

kazkiss · 13/03/2009 10:37

I was quite mobile, pain very minimal and scar TINY. on third day had a bit of a hormonal breakdown (apparently very normal on third day due to milk coming in) Decided I just wanted to go home and wanted to take babies with me. (well they let me come home lol (but not babies thank goodness!)

Since I have been home have been up to hospital twice daily and am very mobile (more so than before birth due to no bump!)
Just a little tired.

Babies are doing well. Are in the lowest level of care. Hopefully going into cots today (rather than incubators) and just need to get them to fed properly before they come home in a couple of weeks.

They are absolutley gorgeous; I was really worried before they born how i would cope... all those feelings have now disappeared.

Well I think I am done... If you have any q's let me know. I have just done a brief overview.

kazkiss · 13/03/2009 10:40

ju, I know I was impressed with my HB too!

LMAO at bacon roll strangely not as appealing now!

Puzzle: Feel strangely ok, get occasional aches and pains but have had surgerys in the past which were ten times worse.
