you do bleed but not for very long (my experience anyway)

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 11:40

Twins! Triplets yesterday, twins today! BB, maybe it really is your turn tomorrow

5 babies in 2 days - & it's only March 5th! (Plus Glaskham's makes 6!) We'll all be post-natal by April at this rate (If only...) The names are fab, too. Very nice

B52s, that's just unlucky, not bad parenting. & holding his arm is much safer than not when he's being like that. BB, your broken arm for 5 days is a bit shocking! I thought it was bad enough that DH broke his foot quite badly & was made to help run his younger brother's birthday party for a few hours before they'd consider taking him to the hospital They knew it was broken, though - at least your mum kind of has an excuse!

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 11:44

I'm in a really grumpy mood this morning & am glad that DH has gone out for a few hours, because I was so close to beating him half to death with a blunt instrument. & bless him, he's not done anything wrong.

The contractions are settling down in the most part, although definitely still present. More uncomfortable than painful now, though. They still get quite bad if I do anything like walk up a flight of stairs, but I can manage to go to the toilet without too much pain - I do still get the 'tightenings' or whatever, but they're okay.

Maybe your BH are just slowing down to make way for the real thing? [hopeful]

B52s · 05/03/2009 11:57

Thanks for the 'not guilty' messages. Poor little mite. Is full of the joys of spring today though (even though we had snow this morning).
Springy - the lochia isn't as much after a CS as the surgeon mops up a lot of blood while you're still open, but you still get some. Mine (normal birth) lasted 6 weeks!!!

mrsfossil · 05/03/2009 11:58

Hi all just this minute had text from barbs dh. Babies all doing fine but poor barb is in icu due to damaged bladder and heavy blood loss but she is feeling loads better today. I've sent them our best wishes.

Congrats to kazkiss, i'm so excited that babies are now popping. The next 5 weeks are going to be torture. i keep looking at my bump like an unwrapped xmas pressies i can't wait.

Oh puzzle (this will give my age away) if we do manange a routine and i can get away with the odd bottle of formula then we are going to see paul weller at the end of june. Its in a forest so means space to dance and have huge picnic. We did it last year when we went to see zutons.

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 12:06

Weller, very nice.

Poor old Barb . Good that the babies are doing well though. Do you have any details yet MrsF?

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 12:07

Oh, and your name does suggest a certain vintage.

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 12:09

Springy - Thank heavens they are settling down, fingers crossed things keep going in that direction.
Has anyone heard from Nutty yet?

bronze · 05/03/2009 12:11

MrsFosil its worse for us ones at the end of the month. I've been due end every time and while everyone else is off cooing at their new babies you're sat on your own on a very quiet thread

Claireykitten · 05/03/2009 12:14

Springy - Glad the contractions seem to calming down a little.

Barbarelly - Glad to hear the babies are doing well. Hope she recovers soon send our love. Do we know yet if the babies have had to be split up yet or have they managed to accomodate them all?

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 12:16

Thanks for the lochia answers B52s & bronze I feel better now I'm armed with knowledge - it felt really odd not knowing something like that after all my time on MN!

So glad the babies are doing well (make him photos as soon as Barb's having a nap! Priorities, Mr Barbarelly! Priorities! ) but for her being in ICU. Hopefully she'll be out very soon - I suppose she'll be of the opinion that it's a small price to pay for 3 gorgeous new babies. Do we know what flavours they are yet? I'm so excited it's unbelievable

I texted Nutty earlier & said that I didn't want to pester her but we're all thinking of her - not heard anything back yet. I'm beginning to get a bit worried

Kalikaroo · 05/03/2009 12:17

Congrats kazkiss and barbarella !! How exciting! This baby of mine seems to be wanting to stay where it is for the mo' - I haven't had that many BH really (just if I've been overdoing it a bit).

I'm also in a grumpy mood today Springy . Just finished cleaning our bathroom - how do men actually manage to pee everywhere except in the actual toilet???? I know our toilet is a bit too near the wall, is quite low and DH is tall, but good grief!! Also, he appears to have 'male stinky-loo blindness', which I've heard is a very common disorder in males of our species.... grr...ok rant over!

Feeling a bit grotty today - my hips feel all crunchy when I get up /move and my back and lower bump are pretty uncomfortable. Think it's just the weight of the baby now it's a bit lower.

My Mum phoned me yesterday to tell me that she's posting me some terry squares!! You can't get them here (only muslins and fancy nappies like bum genius, which are sooooo expensive here). I've bought 2 bum genius nappies just to try, but I don't think we can afford to buy enough of them to do. So, I'm going down the cheap and old-fashioned route and using good old terries . Will probably use disposables for the first few weeks though and for going out etc. Not going to be too militant about it!

Kalikaroo · 05/03/2009 12:19

Hope everything's ok Nutty ....

Juwesm · 05/03/2009 12:25

Text from Kazkiss - sounds fairly upbeat! Emergency c.section as placental abruption (LAWKS!) on part of girl twin. Probing for further info....but phone is running out of credit. I may have to leave the house .

Carameli · 05/03/2009 12:27

congrats to all the new babies. I am so jealous I have to till end of April!

Happy this morn as wooden flooring finished in hall and landing and dh doing lovely oak floor in our bedroom this weekend.

B52s- don't feel guilty at all. I too have a 2yr old boy and have carried him by the arm to the car on the odd occasion when tantrum erupt so pure luck it has not happened here.

does anyone get terrible restless legs here, mine are making my evenings miserable. I am also on the verge of going to gp as my heartburn has been awful over the past few days and am sick of rennie rapeeze and gaviscon tablets. Has anyone taken anything else to combat heartburn. Can't remember it being this bad with dd and ds.

Juwesm · 05/03/2009 12:29

Isabelle is 4lb+, Oliver is 3.5. Both taking formula. Estimated Mum and babies will be in hosp for around a week.

Juwesm · 05/03/2009 12:31

Carameli - I love Gavison liquid, rather than tabs, though the aniseed one makes me want to puke. Occasionally a glass of milk helps, but try to avoid it as logically should only make it worse.

Today am planning to turn over a new leaf. I resolve to be wearing clothes in which I would not be embarrassed to answer the door by 10 in the morning. Also, never to go upstairs without taking something with me that needs to be tidied up there. I WILL become tidy.

mathsmummy27 · 05/03/2009 12:31

oooooh babies! how exciting sending virtual hugs to both new mums.

Now it seems pedantic for me to say i thought it was it last night, I lay awake at 4am with contractions about 6-10 mins apart for ages....then fell asleep/they stopped. Called in sick to work this am because I was so tired,
DH: 'why are you phoning work?'
me: 'because I had a lot of contractions in the night..'
DH 'but they've stoppped now..anyway you didn't tell me'
me: 'because i wanted you to sleep, and i was quite happy for a bit..'
DH ' God you never communicate with me. And you're not in labour, they're just tightenings, my mum told me all about it..'

If he hadn't made me breakfast in bed this morning, blood may have been spilt...

Juwesm · 05/03/2009 12:32

Awwww, and Kaz has not seen her newbies yet!

Juwesm · 05/03/2009 12:33

Just tightenings? Tighten this....WHACK!

Kalikaroo · 05/03/2009 12:35

Mathsmummy - that's ridiculous! Think I would have been ready to clobber him too!

Hi Carameli, have you seen the posts about the buddy system?

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 12:40

mathsmummy, this is exactly why MILs are evil. Mine kept lecturing DH about how my MS was all in my head - she never had any & I was just being weak minded. If I'd toughen up my attitude a bit, it wouldn't be a problem

& as someone who's been having those 'tightenings', you have my full sympathy - just tell him that until he grows a uterus & carries a baby around in it for 8 months & has said tightenings keeping him awake in the middle of the night, he's not entitled to an opinion.
