poor Kazkiss, not seeing her babies yet. I hope they can sort that out for her, pronto! Placentral abruption doesn't sound too fun... Must've been scary.

& Kalikaroo, I have the same toilet issues here. Not just pee, though - it's like he just can't see the huge skidmarks down the pan Keep an eye on the crunchy hips, won't you? Do you have a support belt?

bronze · 05/03/2009 12:43

My MIL is lovely sorry to ruin the myth that they're all horrible.
In fact now DH is freaking at the idea of being with me for a section and my mum is abroad I'm seriously considering asking MIL to be with me if I have one.

surprisenumber3 · 05/03/2009 12:44

wow, got to be quick as I'm working today but had to have a peep to see if any babies have arrived............5....wow!! So exciting!

Congrats Barb and Kaz, hope Barb is fighting fit soon. Will catch up later x

mathsmummy27 · 05/03/2009 12:46

lol Ju, he was snoring last night so took out my frustrations with some extra hits..

Carameli · 05/03/2009 12:48

puzzlerocks- yes have seen the buddy system and just replied to it.

Has anyone been around Epsom hospital yet. I need to arrange my tour and wondered others had thought of it.

B52s the elbow thing happened to us - DS1 sat down in the middle of the road as a protest whilst crossing and I pulled him up by one arm to get him out the way of a car.

We went to A and E, were ushered straight in, and about 5 consultants suddenly crowded into the cubicle with big grins on their faces. "Oh good" the chief one said, "We have been hoping one of these would come in. We've just got a research grant to look into it. This happens to a lot of toddlers. We've ordered some new equipment to scan their elbows, and it's coming next week." He then picked up DS1's arm, did a nifty little manoeuvre and lo and behold it popped back in. DS1 was cured. Best A and E experience we have ever had.

We found later on that DS1 is somewhat hypermobile in his joints, and that sometimes his knee pops out a bit too. We have worked out how to pop it back by wiggling it around a bit and pushing, and he can now do it for himself, so we don't need to go to the doctor with it.

Juwesm, run a 90 degree hot wash with biological soap powder in to clean machine once a month.

Afterwards, remover powder drawer and clean out, plus scrub out aperture with an old toothbrush, or even better, a bottle brush.

Clean rubber seal with washing up sponge and water.

Consider burrowing around in drain area to remove old bra wires/coins/small stones etc if there is an accessible panel on the front of the machine (check instructions).

Juwesm · 05/03/2009 12:53

Am going to watch West Side Story, singing loudly, whilst doing some vague tidying stuff, and eating whatever I can find lying around.

Juwesm · 05/03/2009 12:54

Thanks Boff

Advice for cramp - in addition to any massaging, consider drinking 1/2 to 1 pint extra milk a day, including a hot milk or hot chocolate made with milk at bedtime. I got horrid cramp with DD, and someone mentioned a bit of extra calcium might help, so I tried the milk thing and had very impressive results. It's good for you anyway, tbh. An alternative might be 5 oz extra yoghurt or 2 oz cheese, but the milk worked best for me.

Engineer has been about the washing machine and dryer. Both have corrupted circuit boards and so parts need to be ordered and I may be without machines until Tues or Wed next week. AAAAAAAGH!!! This is a household of 6!!!!!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 05/03/2009 13:07

carameli - I get restless legs. it's HORRIBLE (especially whne you have SPD as well and have just managed to find a way to lie that doesn't hurt and then you have to move your legs around....argggg!!!!!!) it's part of the reason that I haven't been sleeping.

Congrats to Barbarella and Kaz!!!

this thread is going to be lonely by my due date....

purplemonkeydishwasher · 05/03/2009 13:08

Boff - do you think you had a power surge or something that caused all your appliance issues?

BoffinMum · 05/03/2009 13:19

We did have something happen on Tuesday evening that made the lights dip, but all the other appliances were fine. The WM and TD went wrong at different times, so that's not connected. They were bought at similar times, though.

They are all AEG manufactured, and so I am not convinced I will buy John Lewis/AEG again.

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 13:21

Just had a bloke knocking on my door from the RSPB. I was actually going to just give him my name & stuff to get rid of him after his very long spiel, but when he said 'so I take it I can put your name down?' I decided he could get lost. Then he insisted on shaking my hand. I'M IN A BAD MOOD ANYWAY, I'M STILL IN MY PYJAMAS & YOU'RE BOTHERING ME. Argh

I don't even know how he got in - the postman always needs me to buzz him in because nobody else is in the building (if I'm not in, we don't get post), but Mr "I'm sure you're an animal lover!" Charity managed to stealth his way to my door.

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 13:24

Oh my word. Pop out for the morning and come back to FIVE babies!

So many congratulations to both Kazz and Barb and all their babies. Hope everything sorts itself out for them all soon. To be honest it can't be that surprising that Barb is a bit worse for wear - carrying three really is quite extaordinary.

Can't believe none of us guessed Isabelle Oliver. Very pretty, and a definite clue where there mummy was buying her maternity wear

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 13:26

Puzzle I get bad leg cramps almost every night. I massage my legs every evening and have a large bowl of yoghurt just before bed. I've now started cramps all over the place (my thumbs cramp up quite regularly for example).

I've always heard that it can be due to salt deficiency but I'm loathe to add more salt to food.

BoffinMum · 05/03/2009 13:28

Springy, that was no RSPB man, that was the KGB for sure.

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 13:31

B52s I think dislocated arms are supposed to be one of the commonest causes of toddlers visiting A&E. I gather it happens all the time. Especially when they do that thing walking holding hands with two adults and swinging on their arms.

Do not feel guilty. If that is the worst thing you have done as a mother, your are doing well

(my mother refused to believe I had ingrown toe-nails until my toes swelled up to 3 times their normal size with puss and I actually couldn't walk - sorry TMI)

SpringySunshine · 05/03/2009 13:31

Pffft Oh, I'm so annoyed. I even forgot to mention the "I can come in so we can discuss this over a cup of tea for half an hour?" bit. SERIOUSLY. Like I'm going to invite a strange man into my home whilst he tries to persuade me to give him money. Especially whilst I'm still in my jammies. & the cheeky git asked what I was doing at home, too. Surely the whole point is that he only ever speaks to people who're home during the day, or there'd be no point in him being out bothering them right now? & what is it to him, anyway? Bloody sales hippy.

brettgirl2 · 05/03/2009 13:31

Reading MN makes me realise how wonderful my MIL is - her only real fault is the extreme perfection that she sees in her DS..... TBF he is pretty good, but she does lay it on a bit strongly.

Carameli - if you go to the GP for heartburn they can give you rinitidine or omeprazole. I recommend omeprazole - it certainly works a lot better for me, it is licensed for pg but some docs like to give rinitidine first. I've taken it throughout because I have severe heartburn all the time (due to hiatus hernia). It would put you back to normal again - the sight of Gaviscon makes me heave lol.

Well done for saying no springy - you've got enough on your plate paying to support yourselves and a baby without saving the birds as well. Leave that till later when you aren't a student any more

Congratulations to Barberella - It's a bit worrying she's in ICU though. Please let us know when there is more news.

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 13:32

Boff - If I consume any more calcium i'll turn into a bloody tooth.

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 13:33

Springy I would have raged at him - "Can't you see I'm pregnant, I'm a student, I have No Disposable Income to give to you. GO AWAY."

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 13:33

Lulu - Margaritas it is then!

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 13:35

Cheerssh Pushle

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 13:37

Springy - He sounds odd. I had someone at my door last week claiming to be on an ex offender programme looking for oddjobs and could he come in. Erm not if you were a rapist, murderer or burglar, no! I was very polite but it startled me a bit. Is that terribly un pc of me?
