Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 20:45

Oooooooh I'm gonna tell DH I want to do a Lotus Birth this time round. Just to see his reaction.

Check out the picture on Wikipedia of the couple in the birthing pool with the baby and the dad holding the placenta.

DH was asked if he wanted to get in the birthing pool with me last time. You should have seen his look of horror and fear as he spluttered something about having forgotten his swimming trunks.

mathsmummy27 · 05/03/2009 20:47

I thought I was fairly unshockable too

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 05/03/2009 20:48

Schulte · 05/03/2009 20:48

LuLu let's compare DD's worst puking incidents... 1) on another mums head at gymboree, 2) on a friend's white carpet after she'd had a tomato and carrot based puree for lunch, 3) into the keyboard of our piano, 4) into DH's mouth (I guess it was his own fault for dangling her above him)

Will try to think of some more

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 20:51

Wow. Are there physiological benefits to lotus birthing?

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 20:52

What's with the competititve gross out ladies? Is this our Jackass tribute thread?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 05/03/2009 20:56

to leave the umbilical cord attached and pulsing instead of clipping it straight away is supposed to be better. cant remember why.

but lotus birthing is just too yuk to contemplate.

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 20:56

Oh my goodness Schulte - you win hands down. Although the most annoying one was all over a new cashmere jumper I had treated myself to - second time I wore it and it was trashed (she had eaten lots of blueberries earlier on - niiiiiice!)

mathsmummy27 · 05/03/2009 20:57

sorry

this is my way of coping with a rubbishy day. my stupid ginger acting boss is acting like an eeeeeeeeeejit and has royally pissed me off.

i think looking at other people's placentas has made me feel MUCH better, though

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 20:57

I can't stop looking at that picture of 'Ben with his placenta a few hours after the birth' (page 15) of Maths post.

bronze · 05/03/2009 20:59

I don't get the lotus birth thing. It's not natural. I can say that knowing that animals with chew the umbilical after birth (apparently not chimps according tot hat article) and not leave it to go mouldy attached to their young.

I want a physiological last stage to this one if I can but am only going to wait for it to stop pulsing.

Ds1 puked down my cleavage when we were viewing a house. I was actually glad he did it there not on their carpet but it was boiling hot and we were miles from home and it was grim.

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 21:00

OMG - placenta draining and placenta wearing a nappy.

FGS!!!

mathsmummy27 · 05/03/2009 21:02

pmsl Lulu !!

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 21:03

So who is going to put pics of their placenta on their profile?

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 21:04

I bet there are some pics of placentas on MNers profiles out there.

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 21:08

Quite possibly. I have seen profile pics of babies crowning.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 05/03/2009 21:12

Puzzle - please tell me you're joking!!!!!! i'm all for sharing the miracle of birth but..........

tis just wrong on so many levels (apologies if anyone has a pic of their placenta or crowning)

LuLuBai · 05/03/2009 21:15

Drat - DD awake and upset.

Later

bronze · 05/03/2009 21:15

I was just thinking I must be looking at the wrong profiles. Or as the case actually is I'm looking at the right ones

Swaliswan · 05/03/2009 21:17

I've seen a pic of someone with a crowning baby on their profile too. I'm not sure that I would want a pic of me like that out there for the whole public to see. I like to think that birth is an intimate moment, not a public one. Having said that, I do like watching the homebirth diaries on home and health.

BoffinMum · 05/03/2009 21:21

Swali I was that old man on the scooter. How did you know?

Mathsmummy, is this April 1st??? Lotus birth???

I have kept my wisdom teeth in a sample pot, so perhaps that is quite gross too.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 05/03/2009 21:22

Night LuLu, hope oyur dd is ok x

bronze · 05/03/2009 21:22

My mum chucked my stitches away

Swaliswan · 05/03/2009 21:23

Bronze, I nearly got my MIL to remove my stitches for me, but that is rather different.

PuzzleRocks · 05/03/2009 21:24

No joke. I wish I could remember who so you could go have a look but twas ages ago.
