Littlepea-I have a huge problem-can't really find anything to drink that doesn't make me feel sick. Absolutely cannot drink water (which is all I normally drink-and in the first couple of weeks of pg I couldn't get enough) I could drink pink grapefruit hi juice a couple of weeks ago but not now, could drink soda water but not now, and have been drinking tescos flavoured fizzy water-elderberry and lemon but feel like I can't drink that either now. I'm so thirsty but am sick if I drink anything. My head is throbbing today as well so think i'm quite dehydrated. Really need to find something that I can drink now-any ideas?

I agree about cbeebies as well!

ballio · 18/03/2009 16:56

I also agree about cbeebies!
I will be having a VBAC my midwife says i could only have an elective cesarian if there was a medical reason, i.e. something wrong with my pelvis....which there isnt.
To be honest im hapy with VBAC (if this baby isnt going to be 9lb 3....im only 8 stone) cause i hated the pain of section afterwards!

HumphreysCorner · 18/03/2009 17:00

Wow, so many posts.

sammysam-that is brill news. Try and relax now.

Treats-enjoy your holiday!

After 2 days of not sick I was sick again this morning. I can only drink soda water as everything else makes me feel sick. Bought some smaller maternity jeans from Mothercare today but my dad needs to shorten them by about 6 inches. Am desperate to wear them.

Must go and get the girls some tea, could just fall asleep.

Waves to everyone else.

treats, a holiday wistful sigh sounds amazing! Have fun

Will be greatly relieved to have the scan over and done with tomorrow morning either way, I'm so 'bumpy' that I'm behaving like that pregnant actress who played Ian Beales wife in Eastenders a million years ago. Every time she was filmed not sitting down she was carrying a giant shoulder bag to disguise her bump (replace giant bag with random large office paraphernalia in my case).

Regarding dopplers, I hired one (Hi-Bebe without the BPM display) and although I'm 12 weeks I can't hear the heartbeat when I try (although I think I heard it at 10+3?), so I suppose I'd offer some advice that its wonderful when it works but perhaps can introduce worry, when nothing may be wrong with the baby, when you can't hear something!

littlepea72 · 18/03/2009 17:30

Sammysam i to have run out of ideas, i even tried peppermint tea which did work until i smelled it! lol...Ive been eating as much melon as i can, i seem to be able to keep it down & there is alot of juice in it, so it helps, but im really badly dehydrated, its bad at night and i eat an ice lolly but dont know how long im going to be able to do that. It seems like with the liquid, i cant feel it hit my tummy with a bang, then i want to be sick...the doctor said if it continues he will give me an injection to stop the sickness, might end up doing that.

stroopwafel · 18/03/2009 17:54

sammysam what about soups, or thicker liquids? Can you stomache those any better? Must be awful and definately a worry for dehydration. If you really havent got any liquids inside u today, then I would get to the Docs.

Treats ooooh a holiday... have fun!

I've gotmy scan in the morning.. we get an 8 week here and a 20 week and if we are oldun's (like me over 36) you can have another at 12 wks for the triple test. Last pg I lived in Andorra and they used an internal scanning thingy (that WAS a surprise!) up until 12 weeks and u are scanned every time u go to the gynie (seemed to be every few weeks!) so not sure if I need to do something special tomorrow like have a full bladder or something? Really bricking it this time!

Good luck to everyone else who has scans in the morning...!

stroopwafel · 18/03/2009 17:57

littlepea72 - sorry got a little confused and was replying to your thread!

Ice cubes any good?

fidelma · 18/03/2009 18:41

Great to hear everyones news.Sorry for all with ms it wont be long until it starts to ease off.During my first preg I used to throw up every time someone came near me whose clothes had been washed in Daz!!!! thought that might make you laugh.wish I was on holiday, but the great weather does give me hope.Off to see what chaos the children have created while on line.Have a good night all xx

HappyTangerine · 18/03/2009 19:43

Stroopwafel and CalypsoFlame - good luck with the scans tomorrow

littlepea72 · 19/03/2009 01:39

Stroop in Germany we get the internal scans! Ive been told we get them alot untill the 24 week mark, do you still need a full badder for it? Not sure what to expect lol....
Good luck with all the scans tomorrow

stroopwafel · 19/03/2009 07:39

Hi Littlepea, no, i dont think you have to have a full bladder. Its not as bad as it sounds, and the excitement of seeing your lo is enough to take your mind off it!

My ds didnt sleep well, and I surely wasnt going to with the scan this am.. so have got bags under my eyes bigger than tescos!

Good luck CalypsoFlame

sammysam · 19/03/2009 07:55

Stroopwafel-I can only manage home made soups but can't face making them and to be honest I haven't tried ice lolies as I'm normally not keen and I think the artificial flavour would make me feel sick. I wil try it at the weekend as I'm sure my mum will have some when we go and stay. I really do need to make an extra special effort-I was so ill yesterday I hardly ate anything either and feel quite bad this morning. Would drinking loads of fruit juice be bad for an empty sick feeling tummy? Really fancy loads of fresh orange juice.....

Good luck stroopwaffle and calypsoflame (and anyone else i've missed! I had an internal when we were TTC and I needed a full bladder but when talking to the sonographer on tues she says that when you aren't pg the area needs some help with a full bladder to be seen so at my hospital they haven't done full bladders for 10years and if they have trouble they do an internal--so I would say an empty bladder will be fine

I hope everyone is feeling good this morning I can't remember what it's like to feel normal anymore.....I'm sure we all want the next few weeks to fly by

LittleMissBliss · 19/03/2009 08:32

Sammysam I really hope the sickness eases off soon it must be really rubbish. The idea f ice lollies suggested by someone seemed like a good way of getting some fluids. Do you drink through a straw that might help..... Not really sure i've never had morning sickness, feeling very lucky hearing your stories.

stroop and calypso Good luck today! How exciting!

Hair cut went well yesterday! Feels lovely to brush my hair and not loose half of it in the brush because of all of the split ends!

My friends boyfriend (also a school friend) works in toni&guy and only charged me half the price of a normal cut, which was lovely of him. So on leaving i went to the cash point to get some money for my night out and so i could geet him a little thank-you something.

Got to Waitrose and phoned his GF to ask him what beer he likes, to find out he doesn't like beer but prefers port, Wat 22 year old lad prefers port over beer!. Anyway went to pay and couldn't find my cash. Stood at the till muttering i'm sure i got some money out looking like a loon so had to pay on my card. Went back to the cash point and printed off a mini statement that showed i had withdrawn money 10 minutes earlier. The bank was closed but managed to get the attention of a cashier who said that two young girls had noticed the money in the wall and had come to get her. But it had gone back in the wall before she could do anything about it, but i can claim it back. I was so chuffed at how honest those two girls were. But all i can say that this is the start of the end, pregnancy brain has officially kicked in. .

Hope everyone has a lovely day, the sun is out! What a lovely day yet again!

smallone · 19/03/2009 08:58

littlemissbliss at you pg brain! How very honest of those girls.

I'm struggling to drink too, I found I can't bear the idea of blackcurrant squash but if I drink it without thinking about it, it's not too bad. It also helps to have drinks really cold with ice. Sucking icecubes is a good last resort too. Also having really small glasses of (again, very cold) apple juice which seem to be going down ok.

Other than that you'll have to go with liquidy foods and fruit to stay hydrated. You could make your own ice lollys using squash or fruit juice, I've frozen some fresh orange in icecube trays which are good to suck on.

Got my booking in this afternoon! Hope everyone has a good day.

HumphreysCorner · 19/03/2009 09:29

fidelma · 19/03/2009 10:28

so sorry Jessica good luck next time xxx

littlepea72 · 19/03/2009 11:21

Oh Jessia im so sorry please take care xx

sammysam · 19/03/2009 13:39

jessia-i'm so sorry take care and good luck for next time x x x

Littlemiss-oh no! How lucky that you realised quickly-imagine if it had taken a few days!

I need to muster some motivation to do some tidying-the house is embarrasing but i'm tired and sick.......not going to be fun

MustGetSleep · 19/03/2009 14:07

Oh Jessia

Scan date here - 14th of sodding April!?!

I will be 13 1/2 weeks, and house sized by then. I have a bump. How the hell am I meant to keep this hidden for another 4 weeks?

Off to catch up now

stroopwafel · 19/03/2009 14:11

sammysam sounds like OJ might be ok if you really fancy it!

jessia really sorry to hear your sad news...

I do feel like I have got off lightly with ms and really feel for those of you that are having such a hard time. Mind u, its not doing much for my waistline as Im starving so much of the time and end up eating more than I normally would!

So I had an 8 week scan this am, and I am exactly that. I blubbed like a baby before she did the scan as I have been working myself up to things not going well, so the MW said lets just do the scan and ask questions later. Took aaaaages to see the heartbeat, but its there! Was soooo relieved. I didnt feel like this last time I was pregnant, but so many friends have recently miscarried or had problems, that I thought there was something in the air if you know what I mean! Well, I can breathe a sigh of relief for now

Sparklytwinkletoes · 19/03/2009 14:29

Jessia, sorry to read your news, I hope you have plenty of support, and as someone who is pg after MC, wish you all the best in the future. Be kind to yourself and allow yourself plenty of time to get over it.

Sammysam, loads of people have said about ice cold drinks being best but I'm exactly the oppposite - the splosh of a cold drink on my tummy is quite vomit inducing for me, I need tepid drinks. Also, have you tried milkshakes - not the thick gloopy ones you get like frijj or whatever, just crusha + milk? Mmm yum. Saves me every time! I'd take it slowly with the orange juice - as in don't guzzle a whole pint in one go! but otherwise, go with whatever you fancy. I was on apple juice and cranberry last week but gone right off it now.

Can't face tea either, but have a strange and very strong need for tomatoes - with everything! Fresh thinly sliced ones

Only 12 days to go till my 12 week scan - next week should go quite quickly too as I've got loads of meetings at work. Hurrah!

patmum · 19/03/2009 15:07

Hi All

Sorry for a totally non-pregnancy related question but since many of you are mums of small children you may be able to help.

My DS is driving us mad as he loves to look at things on the computer and must have seen something at nursery that we cannot identify (I've asked the staff at nursery too and they are also flummoxed (sp?))

He says it's (something like) "daki daki dacker" - he says it's got something to do with a train and he even starts to sing a song. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. I know it sounds trivial but we're pulling our hair out!

littlepea72 · 19/03/2009 15:17

God this is the day from hell! First i had to be called into the school as my son refused to go in, then i went to pick up my "new" notes from the midwife (being on an army camp, she only comes here once a week) and she didnt leave or do them! She even phoned me to say she would leave them for me, and didnt. The girls at the med centre said they would get her to do them on tuesday afternoon, but my scan is on tuesday morning & they wont do it without my notes! Then the school called me again because DS did a runner out of school, hes only 4.....im locking myself into the bedroom in an hours time, and im not coming out until tomorrow! ....bugger! lol...

smallone · 19/03/2009 16:19

patmum sorry I can't shed any light on that, the only train related things I can think of are, "she'll be coming round the mountain" Thomas the Tank engine, and underground Ernie!

littlepea I hope your notes get to you on time!

I've had my not-booking-in booking in appt today. Met my MW who is really nice and we got on really well, the only thing is she weighed me and I'm nearly 2 stone heavier on her scales than I am at home I'm sure hers are right as mine are old and knackered, but this puts me at a BMI of 38! and I have to be refered to the consultant because I'm clinically obese! I knew I was overweight of course but I had no idea it was this bad. I'm gutted and I just want to start losing weight today but of course I can't now can I? V depressing.
