SmuttyNuttyTaff · 24/02/2009 09:52

ooooohhhh pancacke day (i so forgot) i am sooo sending dh to asda tonight!! on second thoughts he will have to make them, that could be dangerous!!

EllieG · 24/02/2009 09:53

Hello all - sorry to hijack but am looking at my little DD who was born last April and feeling very sentimental -

Just wanted to say best of luck to all of you. The first ones will start popping along next month probably, and it's so exciting! I have had the best year of my life with my little DD, and can't believe how fast it's gone. Hope you all have fab birth experiences and lovely happy babies who sleep (mine doesn't, but can hope for you folks!) and that you enjoy you time with them. Will be thinking of you!

BabyBolat · 24/02/2009 09:58

You are free to send her LuLu but I sleep wuite early so would be ok in the morning but not late at night!!

Part of me thinks it must be a sign that it is all happening but LO is still not engaged and still feels no where near ready to come out just yet! grrr

Oh yay for midwife nutty

LuLuBai · 24/02/2009 10:02

Ah thanks EllieG. Lets hope the sleep thing isn't common to all April babies. It seems those of us with April 07 vintages are still struggling to get our zzzzz...

It is a great time of year to be having a baby though. Feels like we are fitting in with the natural order of things - lambing season, daffodils and crocuses bursting into flower, lighter, sunnier days and generally Spring springing.

BoffinMum · 24/02/2009 10:03

Hello!

Excitement last night, as the plumbing leaked where they had been messing about, and it flooded the utility room ceiling and went all over the boiler. Plumber has been back to fix it, so hopefully it will be OK now. He has also offered to redecorate the ceiling for us.

SPD truly terrible today and I am really hoping I don't have to go back to the heifer farm ante-natal ward. Supposed to be finishing a literature review for someone but just do not have the intellectual stamina under this much medication. Hope he lets me off, but I hate being the weak link in the project team as I am always the most reliable one!!

Watching Quincy as I type, with a storyline of a woman more crippled even than me and Nutty with delliciously hammy acting. I am alternately crying and laughing!!! More laughing, actually.

BoffinMum · 24/02/2009 10:04

Lulu, DS2 was an April baby and slept beautifully. It's all in the personality IMO.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 24/02/2009 10:08

Thanks EllieG

Boffin - bummer about the plumbing, though it sounds like you have a fab plumber!! ((hugs)) for the spd xx yay for funny hammy acting though i'm sure we could do better

BoffinMum · 24/02/2009 10:15

Well he didn't tighten my sprockets properly, Nutty, so I am having my doubts.

BabyBolat · 24/02/2009 10:18

Boffin! Are you trying to take Smutty's crown - starting with the naughtiness at 10.18!!

BoffinMum · 24/02/2009 10:20

Too right BB

Found this link on another thread. You can time contractions online. How cool is that??

www.contractionmaster.com/

Claireykitten · 24/02/2009 10:24

I found that contraction master fantastic last time but whether I will be able to sit infront of the computer timing this time depends very much on DS! Hopefully he will be agreeable and accomodating.

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 24/02/2009 10:24

Hey BB - Just got an email from Nutty, you're my buddy!!! Yay! Am saving your numbers into my mobile right now...

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 24/02/2009 10:25

Oooh it's really happening isn't it... we're really having BABIES in a few weeks!! Eeek!!!!

BabyBolat · 24/02/2009 10:27

Hey Kitty - I haven't checked but yay!! will go and grab those numbers too!

BoffinMum · 24/02/2009 10:32

I have set DH up on MN with his own nickname (BoffinDad, of course!) so he can do a live birth thread. My desk is right near where we are putting the birthing pool. He thinks the idea of a live thread is amusing but appreciates you are all real people and so on, and are likely to want to know stuff!!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 24/02/2009 10:33

loose sprockets warrant a good spanking

BUDDY SYSTEM!!!

Please start checking your inboxes ladies

i have started to roll out the buddy details to the relevent buddys.

it's a bit sporadic to be honest as i'm taking several things into account date's, regulars, personalities, and some groups are smaller than others etc. to try and get the best buddy match/balance as possible so i hope you are all happy with the buddy i have chosen for you so if you dont have your buddy details as yet bear with me, i am on the case and they will be with you shortly (hopefully by the end of today)

any problems let me know similarly if you havent yet joined and want to my email is :- [email protected]

BoffinMum · 24/02/2009 10:33

A bit of me is thinking do we have to have babies? Is it too late to change one's mind??

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 24/02/2009 10:36

Nah Boff I'm sure you can get a refund if you ask nicely...

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 24/02/2009 10:42

Boffin do you have a reciept? lol

BoffinMum · 24/02/2009 10:48

No but I can remember where I got it from. Does that help?

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 24/02/2009 10:51

Not sure... depends on the condition of the item and whether its still in its original packaging...

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 24/02/2009 10:53

you may have difficulty getting it back in there you may have to use a different entrance

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 24/02/2009 10:56

Oh I forgot to tell you ladies how the tour of the Birthing Unit went last night!!

The unit is just another part of East Surrey Hosp, adjoining the usual delivery suite, and while they had some pretty funky couch beds and bars on the walls for hanging on, it wasn't that great... also, they only have one water birthing room so we may not get our WB after all - so we've decided to stay home! Yippee!!! I'm currently reading "Home Birth - A Practical Guide" by Nicky Wesson, checking out homebirth.org and getting more excited by the second... this feels so right, so ME, and DH is really happy with the choice too! He was googling super-lightweight birthing pools last night... bless him...

Also, this morning I got the paperwork saying all is approved for my Maternity Allowance, and that a backdated payment of almost £500 is on its way... the weekly allowance has gone up to £124 too! Today is a GOOOOOOD day...
