Morning all

KK- good luck today, will be thinking of you.

Im afraid no baby here yet either although I did feel odd during the night, lots of back ache and nausea... Though 3 out of 7 NCT babies have now arrived and Im geting impatient - got serious baby envy!

Ast- great news you arent being scarred- after all that work carrying 4 babies you dont deserve any further trauma!

Will stop cleaning but as star says, everytime you do it, its dirty/ dusty again 5mins later. I now realise when I never really bothered when I was working.

Hi everyone else >

Time to update the list.

ooh do you think so Diege? Seems to have passed now Im up and about sitting on sofa

Getting bored now!

Great news about the spending spree thoroughly deserved I think!

I cant wait to get back to normal so I can buy some nice proper non- maternity clothes again

OP posts:
tinkislittlemissshopping · 09/03/2009 11:18

cheers mim that is usueful.
my friend didnt get on with it either.

Diege · 09/03/2009 11:26

I know what you mean about 'proper clothes' GYO. The coat I have bought is actually non-maternity (will wear open with scarf when pregnant, then should be ok for summer even when jelly belly)I've also treated myself to a dress from Toast for after the birth - bought one size up to usual, and it is massive even with my bump now so have returned for smaller size. I remember how rubbish it felt after last birhts to have to wear maternity clothes for weeks after, so am planning on sticking with maternity skinny jeans for a few weeks/months, but buying non-maternity floaty type tops in a bigger size (FC do some nice ones). Really love my clothes and am determined not to go 'frumpy' after this one!

Cosmogirl · 09/03/2009 11:33

Oh GYo - sorry to hear no baby yet.....Not surprised you are getting impatient. But 39 weeks - surely must be any minute now?! DH's cousin just been - kids look like hard work and my pristine lounge is now covered in soggy choc chip cookies.....oh god, I am going to be a crap mum!

Have a headache now..................

Diege · 09/03/2009 11:37

COSMO, it's amazing how your standards slip when you have aroom full of toddlers, lol!
Big boss has just been in as concerned over my working hours mid-march onwards (killer days). Bizarre conversation where I'm telling him I can manage and he says to cut down... (unless it's reverse pyschology).
Anyway, have fixed maternity leave (taking account of hols oweing etc) and last day in office will be Wednesday 29th April!!! Back beginnning of Jan. Can't wait!

kayzr · 09/03/2009 11:38

Oh GYo, I had a 'feeling' you had had the baby but it was obviously wrong!!

NatalieJane · 09/03/2009 11:40

Morning all

Kooky, echoing everyone already, have everything crossed for you sweetie xxx

Diege, look at Fat Face, MNers get 10% off, have recently discovered they do very nice clothes, quality is amazing, and with 10% off you can't go wrong! Their kids clothes are lovely too

If anyone has any ideas for birthday pressies for a 7 year old boy to be, who wants nothing, has nearly every board game going, has trillions of books, is up to date with new games for all the various consoles and isn't into typical boys things (Ben 10, Dr. Who, Star Wars etc.) pleeeeeeeeease tell me. DS1's bday on the 18th, he wants a camera and a digital photo frame, but money from family will cover them, so I've no bloody idea what to get him, he's already got a printer (not a photo one as such, but a proper 3 in 1 jobby for his computer, that prints very good pics) I've gone for the obvious camera case and extra memory, and an album, but now I am stuck.

lastboxoftampons · 09/03/2009 11:56

Hello everyone!

KK best of luck today - thinking about you and have fingers tightly crossed! Hoping it's good news

NJ and Diege - don't feel stalker-ish at all! When I first moved to the UK, I would get 'recommendations' - you know friends of friends and the like - of people living in London that I should get together with. And so we would set up what I like to call 'girl dates' and before I would always have this nervous 'I hope she likes me!' feeling So funny!

I think my DH will definitely be happy to go for the snip, but Diege this may be the one occasion where witholding sex until he agrees to is the only answer!

Cosmo - LOL about the toddlers! We watched our 2-year-old nephew on SAturday morning and yesterday I found playdough on the seat of my jeans!

Think I overdid it a bit yesterday - we were switching rooms of furniture around and also had a big shop at Tesco (with no car) and lots of laundry. Today my back is killing me! Got up to pee in the middle of the night and had to walk to the bathroom a bit hunched over like an old lady! Think it will sort itself out, it's just really stiff today.

Question for you all - our friends are all deciding that the later half of this year is the best time to get married - GRRRRRR! So I'm due 24 July and we now have one potential wedding on 6 September in Salisbury and one on 31 October in Edinburgh. MIL has already agreed to come with us to Salisbury if we decide we can go (still worried that if I go late, it will just be too close to birth) but, even though baby will be older, Edinburgh is a bit trickier as I'm not sure MIL can/will handle an infant for an entire weekend. Why couldn't these people get their acts together last year!?!!?

Astarte · 09/03/2009 12:05

Is he crafty Nat? (in the making something sense)
How about a telescope or something exploratory?

Cosmo, mini-pill is fine to take whilst bf'ing.

Hooray for Wagon-shopping!
Tink it's been ages (okay days) since you shopped surely you are feeling the pull

GYo keeping my fingers crossed for you it's soon x

Diege he doesn't want to have the op, but is more worried that it's GA, I'll be scarred, it's major abdo surgery, the risks are greater re: complications (infection, accidental damage to other organs, internal bleeding etc).
His op is done under LA, complete in 10 minutes and no recovery period, just have to wait until the tests are clear....it's a no-brainer really.

I have had excellent news gals!
We were working out when I would go back to work yesterday and I couldn't remember my Mat package.
I rang HR this morning and I'm on full pay for 6 months followed by SMP for another 3 months if I wish!!!
I'm rich I tell ya
It means I don't even have to think about going back until dd2 is at least 6 months old!!
HOORAY!!!

and on that note I'm off shopping this afternoon......

Astarte · 09/03/2009 12:07

I wouldn't do the first wedding at all LBOT, and I would take the baby with me for the second or not go if they don't want the baby there, but that's me

Astarte · 09/03/2009 12:09

read dates wrong there LBOT, would go to both on the proviso you can take the baby with you. is it far for you to travel to the first?

NatalieJane · 09/03/2009 12:34

LOL LBOX, re. the friends thing, it feels almost like a new boyfriend, "should I wear this or that?" "will she like this or not?" "should I ring or text?" LOL Saddo I am, through and through! And FWIW agree with Ast, take baby with you, you'll be surprised how well they will sleep with all that going on around them!

Ast, that's great news about your mat pay And yes he is very crafty (in every sense!) loves making things out of nothing, already has a telescope and a microscope... He's got loads of things like lego and mechano(sp?) planes and boats etc. The only thing I know he know he really wants is guinea pigs, but, I refuse .

Oh I forgot to tell you all my disaster.... when I went to take DS1 to school this morning, sun was shining, but not very warm, so I put my suede jacket on, walked the two minutes there in lovely spring sun, ran the two minutes back in heavy driving rain, my beautiful jacket is ruined It's wrecked

NatalieJane · 09/03/2009 12:36

Hey, I have a plan... do you think DS1 would like a very nice new ladies suede jacket that's a bit big for him for his bday?

Thanks Astarte and NJ. The Salisbury wedding I'm not too worried about if this baby comes on time, as MIL will drive (it's about 90 mins away, I think) and will stay with the baby in the hotel while we're at the wedding - although was talking to the bride to be last night and she said they'll probably do some kind of creche facility (still not sure I'd leave my newborn in a creche...). But just been talking out the Edinburgh one with DH over email and we seemed to come ot the conclusion that it'd be alright if we could bring baby to the wedding. so, I guess we'll see. I've not been to Edinburgh and have been meaning to go forever, so it would be nice to make a long weekend of it.

NJ so sorry about your jacket Do you think it might look better if it dries out a bit and you give it a brush? As for birthday presents for DS1...I have no idea! but maybe imaging software so that he can make things like cards and stuff from his pictures? Or even scrapbooking stuff (LBOT wonders if that's too girly or American even! )

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 09/03/2009 12:49

hello everyone. Just went out for an hour and there has been lots of chat.

Thanks for all the wishes that I'm next... very much appreciated !! Just walked 5mins max from car to shop and had bad BHs, well when I say bad, I mean I couldnt walk had to stop. Hoping its all more good signs
(keep those feelings coming Kayz!!)

LBOT- sorry for sore back... hope it gets better soon

Cosmo- sorry you've not got a baby either yet. Reckon they will come when ready We need to think baby thoughts together to help bring them along. Should we start a syndicate for you too now?

Having mental moment and cant remember anything else.

will have another read.

Starshinetiger · 09/03/2009 12:59

Afternoon all! Can't believe it's afternoon already and I've done nothing - well, got DS up and off to Childminder this morning, then went back to bed 'til 10am (luxury!). Just been to get some bits from supermarket and now am going to chill 'til I get him at 4. Had dubious night last night - BH all evening (probably my fault for cleaning yesterday afternoon) and was feeling decidedly dodgy into small hours - cue panicking, as had not asked Mum if we can call her overnight, plus she has 1.25 hour drive here and we had no birthpool yet. Now feeling calmer, as birthpool arrived this am (yay!) and have rung Mum to clear things up. Am optimistic that all will go smoothly with pool birth at home, even if DS is at home at the time. Still feeling a bit dodgy and backachey today, but only 38+1 today, so still plenty of time!

Nat - so sorry for jacket - that is pants Afraid not feeling inspirational on the pressies for DS1 front - sounds like he has it all already! How about night vision goggles? But maybe you don't want to encourage him playing in the dark! National Geographic do them and I got some in Sainsburys as a present before Xmas.

Ast - yay for DH having op, sounds great. My fear is other way round - DH very keen to have snip after DC2, but I may be wanting to keep options open (despite my saying at start of this pg that I would never do it again due to sickness - woman's prerogative and all that)!

GYo/Cosmo - so it's a race to the finish line now is it? I'm quite happy to wait until next Sunday at the earliest myself - suits DH work better and as he is working Sat, he has Thurs off, so we have a cinema date on Thurs lunchtime - first time we'll have been to cinema since before DS was born 2.5 years ago!! Hope you are both comfortable at least. I am having regular BH today - just when I'm ready to put my feet up!

Second what you all say about getting into non-mat clothes though. Have already printed out my "New Mum's healthy eating plan" - although you could use the same for any healthy eating plan you find on internet, really, with a few extra healthy snacks in for Bfing.

Diege - your clothes sound lovely and your boss sounds great too - yay for mat leave dates being sorted.

LBOT - would second Ast on the weddings. You could go to both as long as you are taking LO with you. We went to wedding when DS was 5 months old, but left him with my Mum. Also, not same case, but took him to see my Nan and to her funeral (ca. 2.5 hours drive frrom us each time, when he was 6 and 8 weeks old - actually surprisingly doable with a LO). This time, my BF is getting married when this DC will be ca. 4 months old (your due date) and they have said - "The baby gets a seat, if it's still on the teat"!, so DS will stay with my Mum and LO will come with us - next challenge is getting a lovely new outfit, which is compatible with bfing - open to suggestions from you lovely shopaholics ladies!

Right, forgotten all else. Kooky - still thinking of you.

P.S. Would you all send some "stop knocking so hard on the door to get out" vibes to this LO - it's getting decidedly uncomfortable!

Just checking in for news from Kooky, but doesn't seem to be anything yet...

LBOT - I'm due 10th May and a really good friend (I'm godmother to her DS1) decided in Feb to get married on 23rd May! Luckily it'll be local and they've said they'd love a baby at the wedding. I just hope I'm not late and have settled down ok after the birth...

Astarte - WOW!! Get ye shopping girl! That's great news!!

NJ - sorry, not much of an idea but it sounds like he's in for a v good birthday... We always had a £20 limit on our birthday and Christmas presents as kids. (Suppose £20 did go a bit further then...!!)
