The other thread was too long and wouldn't let me add a new message.

I am 8+3 and as my previous m/c's have been at 9 weeks.

OP posts:

Hello All, thought I'd introduce myself as getting closer to the 12 week mark. This is my 1st pregnancy and I am v.excited but also a little nervous. Think its great how you all keep eachother updated on things.
Mc Donald's convo made me laugh (Ihave had 2 this week) whoops!
Have my 1st scan on the 27th. Think baby is due 10th September. Just hope all is going well.

cautiousmumtobe · 19/02/2009 10:51

Welcome nitnat. I had two mcdonalds last week from legging it up and down the motorway to meetings. It was the only way I was going to eat. Did seem to enjoy them rather too much tho which is wierd cos haven't had one for years prior to this!

Snowfall - I am also on low does asprin. This has come out of a mc I had at 21 weeks in August. The only possible reason for it from all the tests they've run is that my blood was clotting too much so I'm on low dose asprin until 36 weeks. This also makes me a 'high risk' patient with regular scans until I get past the 21 week mark when I think they will put me back to normal care if all is well.

Did anyone else notice at their booking in appointment that home births are being pushed much more? It appears that where I live we now get a named midwife throughout rather than a team of midwives. The idea behind it is that you build up a trust relationship and that the midwife can deliver your baby at home. Whilst not making any plans at the moment due to previous mcs, I was quite open to the idea of this. Is anyone else thinking of a home birth?

nitnat84 · 19/02/2009 11:34

CM2B- It tastes 2 good.ALthough right now, this second, I am craving oranges! Havent got any though and its killing me!!! lol.

Snowfalls108 · 19/02/2009 11:35

Cautious, that must be very worrying for you, although great that they are looking after you. Why do people with cups of coffee always sit by me, on the bus now and sure enough the man with coffee sits next to me.

lemonmoon · 19/02/2009 11:49

welcome nitnat

Haven't had my booking in appointment, but I know that home birth is very popular in my area, and when I had a chat to the midwife on the phone she said 'we only do home births and births at kings'. I am thinking home birth at the moment, since Kings is literally five minutes away. Besides you can change your mind to go into hospital on the day afaik, but not so easily the other way round.

newbie36 am starting to have the same thoughts about the scan. It's like schrodinger's cat in my mind - both ok and not ok at the same time. Really will be glad to get it done one way or another.

Hulan · 19/02/2009 11:55

Hi All

Is it okay if I join? My due date is the 29th of Sept and I'm having the worst morning sickness ever. Just come back from up chucking in the loo (again). I have one DS who is 3.

nitnat84 · 19/02/2009 12:13

Hi Hulan, I am new to this group as well. Sorry to hear about the ms. I have just had terrible nausea but luckily no vomitting YET!!!
I feel that If I eat I feel sick and if I dont eat I feel sick. No win situation.

Thusnelda · 19/02/2009 12:19

Welcome Nitnat and Hulan,
I've added you to our stats thread, I hope you don't mind.

If anybody wants to add or edit anything please take care to copy and paste the last post, not the first or anyone in between. It's quite possible that some people have gone missing along the way already...

(Sorry to sound so pedantic!)

detoxdiva · 19/02/2009 12:51

Welcome to all the newbies - just checking in to stay on the active convs list!!

Hope everyone is well - can identify with the food cravings...I just want to eat all the time just like I did when pg with dd. I put on 3 stone then so am hoping not to be quite so greedy this time

Have nuchal scan tomorrow so will update after than.

audreyraines · 19/02/2009 13:00

peachy, i'm living on toast with tomatoes and cheese too. it's my saviour when i can't stomach anything else. also loving the citrus - can eat a ton of clementines and put lime in all my water for some reason makes it taste better.

cautious/lemonmoon i am definitely planning for home birth. i had one last time and just couldn't have had a better experience. the best thing was being able to tuck up with the baby in your own bed quite soon after delivery. and also being in your own space gives you a better sense of control i think , or at least it did for me. i'm kinda scared of the bleakness of hospital environments.

the best thing i did was hire a doula and i will do it again this time. she really gave me extra confidence in the whole home birth process.

Hulan & NitNat - welcome and totally sympathise with the MS. I am hoping mine disappears with the advent of the 12 week mark.

audreyraines · 19/02/2009 13:01

oh ps. so funny about all the maccas and kfc cravings. i'm so glad i'm not the only one. and i'm also glad i've got a toddler in tow otherwise i might be popping into maccas every morning for my fix

FairySparkles · 19/02/2009 13:14

Hi everyone - I'm new to this thread so thought I'd say hi! Due 25th Sept, I'm 8+6 with my second pg (although I'm waiting for my scan on 13th March to confirm I'm not actually 13weeks) I've been feeling soooo sick since pretty much conception - the only thing I can stomach is salty chips and McDonalds etc so I'm glad to see I'm not on my own there!!! It was the same with dd, once the morning sickness went I moved onto 4 double decker chocolate bars a day - whoops!! Piled on three stone and still regretting it - was hoping to stick to lettuce and water this time around but no joy - fast food only so far!!
Anyone else got a massive belly already?? I look about 4 months pregnant! Is it just cos I've had a baby already??? Or is it all the chips !!lol

StealthPolarBear · 19/02/2009 13:25

Hi everyone

MummyWilliams · 19/02/2009 13:31

Hi! Everyone. I had my booking bloods done on Monday of this week. Had results back yesterday, iron is 5.5 and ferratin is 5. So I am feeling completely exhausted and run down. As if early pregnancy isn't tiring enough, I am now severely anaemic too!!! Have not been feeling as much movement this week as I did last week, trying not to worry, as I still have sore (.)(.) and still v. tired. Cannot wait until 10th March for dating scan, just to make sure that everything is ok. I think my only craving at the moment is chocolate. With DD I craved anything with lemon in it, and with DS I craved mint flavoured kit kats LOL! xxx

PurpleCrazyHorse · 19/02/2009 14:00

Yay... more people eating McDs and KFC! I'm totally craving Big Macs too but as I work for the NHS there's not one within a million miles (and all the choccy has gone from the vending machines ) Have gone a bit fruit mad too, but that's no bad thing.

Still no scan date for me yet, but am now 10+6 so hoping for an appointment in the post soon.

We've now told family and some close friends (who are all delighted). Still early days, especially as we haven't seen our baby yet. Trying not to worry about things and generally taking a 'what will be, will be' approach, but it's tough.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had a psycho reaction from their mum? Mine isn't listening to anything I'm saying about not telling anyone (had an e-mail from distant family in NZ this morning!). She even thinks she's coming to visit the day after I've given birth!! Unfortunately she has a princess complex and is used to having her own way, it's almost as if this is her baby. I think I'm going to have to toughen up and I expect it'll involve a row or two, at least PIL are fab. It's kinda spoiling things a bit, very pleased I live 3 hours away. Off to visit mum at the weekend... luckily DH is coming too so we'll have the car and can escape (or run mum over!!)

ladylush · 19/02/2009 14:14

I haven't told my mum for the exact same reason. Last time I m/c I asked her not to tell anyone and then I got a bunch of flowers from by brother

McD's and KFC craving here too (though haven't indulged as yet) - also spinach and ricotta ravioli with tomato sauce, tomato soup. Glad to see my cravings are similar to all of yours - reassuring somehow.

I've had more fresh red bleeding but no pain. EPU said they think it's related to the bleeding I had a few days earlier - subchorionic haematoma. They didn't seem worried, which put my mind at rest a bit. I've got a scan next Monday by which time I'll be 10+5. Aaaaggghhh, time is going so slowly. Does anyone know when the risk of mc drastically reduces? Is it 12 weeks or 14?

TigerFeet · 19/02/2009 15:22

lol @ McD's cravings, I had some chips and an apple pie from there yesterday . HG clearly under control now that I have different medication!

My dh is in hospital atm - at first they thought he had blood clots on his lungs and in his legs but they don't seem so sure today. Being pregnant has taken a back seat while he's been so poorly.

Not sure if it's 12 or 14 weeks ladylush, but I think that once a HB is seen at the 12 week scan then the risk is considered very small. I'm 10+1 today and my scan is in two weeks - I'm far more anxious with this pregnancy than I was with dd so I'll be relieved once it's over (assuming all is well of course).

MummyWilliams · 19/02/2009 15:29

Tigerfeet - with regards to your husband, I am sorry to hear this. I too have had a clot on the lung, which is so, so painful. However, I had some warfarin and a ct scan and all was well after about 5 days. I hope he recovers soon. xxx

newbie36 · 19/02/2009 15:30

I was wondering how you were getting on Tigerfeet - I seem to remember you saying you having a really really rough time a few weeks ago. Glad to hear those meds are helping now. So sorry to hear about your DH though. Must be a really worrying time for you. I know it's easy to say but he really is in the best place being in hospital. At least you know he's being looked after in there (hopefully anyway!)

TigerFeet · 19/02/2009 15:48

Thanks He's in the right place, definitely, he's on clexane to thin his blood and on mega-painkillers too. He's having a scan this afternoon. IL's are with him atm, dd and I are chilling out on the sofa.

It's been stressful but it's pulled me out of my self absorbed misery

I am knackered though [yawns][craves double cheeseburger]

Even though my family and the IL's aren't local they have all rallied round and helped out this week which has been a godsend, especially because dd is on half term.

LittleCheese · 19/02/2009 16:01

Hi Ladies

I haven't posted for weeks so wish to offer sympathy to all those who have had bad news over the last couple of weeks and congratulations to those who have had wonderful dating scans.

I finally got my dating scan through for 4th march, I think i may be 14 ish weeks by then. I wanted it sooner but I guess the later I have it the sooner after I'll get my 20 week scan. How much have all you ladies had to pay for your scan pictures if you don't mind me asking.

Since yesterday I have felt like a different person.I no longer feel tired all day long and I have actually managed to take dd out the last 2 days, still having quite early nights but no day time naps

I am also craving junk food, I've had to McD's breakfasts the last couple of weeks, told DP I just wanted those nice coffee cups they are giving away However its burger king woppers i really could eat every day.

We are moving house in the next 2 months which is quite stressful, I just want to get it over with and sort our finances out as I would really like DD, DH and I to have a holiday before our bubble comes along.

mummyhill · 19/02/2009 17:07

According to the letter I had in the post this morning confirming my appointment they charge £5 for a pic. I am gob smacked because I have never had to pay for one before and think this is extortionate.

TigerFeet · 19/02/2009 17:12

I think we were supposed to pay £2 for dd's scan pics but the sonographer let us have them for nothing. That was 5 years ago though.

£5 is a lot isn't it?

detoxdiva · 19/02/2009 18:47

At my 2 epu scans I haven't had to pay for any pics.

webster215 · 19/02/2009 19:16
