The other thread was too long and wouldn't let me add a new message.

I am 8+3 and as my previous m/c's have been at 9 weeks.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hulan · 06/03/2009 15:00

Hi audreyraines, well I'm still waiting on the hospital to confirm it. I rang them earlier this week and exhanged a few choice words because my GP referred me five weeks ago already? Anyway, they've now told me that if I don't hear anything from them by Tuesday I need to ring back to book the scan. I think I will be pretty upset if it isn't twins because how can one tiny baby be making me feel so ill?

audreyraines · 06/03/2009 15:05

nah i understand it april. you think you've made it thus far, and suddenly you're back 5 days ago. i guess it's worth remember that it won't make your pregnancy any longer in the end, your body will do what it does when it's ready (and no-one can really tell when that might be!)

Hulan, I kinda thought the same - I thought at least if it is twins, I'd have a rational explanation for spending so much time around toilets and behind trees when out and about.

maybe it's because we are carrying super-genius babies that we feel so sick

I'm starting to feel a bit better though, at least eating two good meals a day, and can occassionally cook things for ds, although my dinner is often an apple or a piece of toast still.

audreyraines · 06/03/2009 15:06

ps. the whole hospital red tape thing drives me nuts. when i turned up first time for my booking in I found out the appointment had been cancelled without notifying me

Hulan · 06/03/2009 15:08

Thanks audreyraines, it really helps knowing that there are others out there feeling as bad as me. And I have to agree about baby genuises. My mother tells me that the reason I'm having such bad heart-burn and indigestion is that

a) It's a girl (because we already have a DS)
b) She has loads of hair

Hulan · 06/03/2009 15:09

You gotta love the grand-folks logic

audreyraines · 06/03/2009 15:20

haven't heard the lots of hair one before!

Hulan · 06/03/2009 15:22

Sometimes I think they just make it up as we go along. They are based in SA and we are here in the UK, so I guess they have to use their imaginations quite a bit. How far along are you?

erhianj · 06/03/2009 16:12

aprilmeadow - I watched the scanner measure the baby and it did seem a bit hit and miss, she clicked the mouse at a random point on baby's head and then dragged the mouse to the bottom and took the size from there,6.6cms for bubs. I guess they have a general 12 week baby size and go from there. If I hadn't of been so at the scan I would have asked how they did it. I thought I would be a few days ahead (only 3 though!) as I ovulated quite early. They should trust the woman to know her own cycle though.

hulan - love the idea about the hair! I've been feeling really rough so your not alone

ChutesTooNarrow · 06/03/2009 16:19

Hello all, I've only posted once in the previous thread. The thought of being pregnant felt so unreal and I had barely any symptoms. It is very real now! I had my scan today and was completely stunned at the tiny wriggly baby in my stomach. I'm 12 weeks today, which is exactly what I thought I was, so due 18th September.

If I wasn't so comfy on the sofa I would go and measure myself with loo roll...

Snowfalls108 · 06/03/2009 16:52

I think they must just date by average size.
I was generally expecting my dates to be put back as I know I ovulated late in the cycle, however they moved me forward 5 days - which makes me about 10 days further forward than I think I actually am. Ifykwim. I reckon that I've just got a fast growing big baby!

Very excited about TPT - will look forward to Tuesday.

Weirdly had some sickness yesterday after none for a week, seems to have gone now though. Officially I'm 12+5 today.

Almost the weekend! and more importantly maternity leave negotiations went well today.

Congratulations Chutestoonarrow and all others with lovely scan results.

audreyraines · 06/03/2009 18:04

Hulan, I'm 13 + 2 today. STill waiting for the nausea to go, but the vomiting has reduced dramatically in the last few days. my apetite is still pretty dodgy though.

audreyraines · 06/03/2009 18:05

it's funny, i had someone say to be that boys are usually worse for causing morning sickness, but most people say that about girls! there is really no science to it at all.

AprilMeadow · 06/03/2009 18:53

I am supposed to be 12+5 today but according to scan am 12wks. EDD of 18th. Baby measures 5.53cm and the NT was 1.40 now waiting til next week to get combined test results.

TheTickListQueen · 06/03/2009 19:27

I heard it was girls that make you feel sicker because of the extra estrogen but then there are always stories to prove or disprove either way.

erhianj · 06/03/2009 19:30

hmmm, nobody said anything about NT to me today and my only other scan is the 20 week one - should I speak to my midwife, or would the scanner have mentioned it only if necessary?

blue76 · 06/03/2009 19:43

I erhianj, I asked my mw about NT yesterday. It's not offered on NHS here. Only privately. Where are you? I'm on the Wirral.

Is this TPT a trick?? Haha!! I'm 7 sheets too!!! Gonna do it again in the morn when my tummy is loads smaller!!

erhianj · 06/03/2009 19:57

blue76 - I'm in Swansea - reading through my notes it looks like the first scan is simply a dating one and then the 20 week one is more in depth

Hello all, ive posted on her before but not for a while ive had a lot of stuff going on lately.

On tuesday i was rushed to the royal gwent with a suspected miscarriage after cramping and heavy bleeding, i had all kinds of tests but everything came back normal except my blood pressure which was high and a worry because i had eclampsia on my last pregnancy but i think the high bp was down to me being scared and worried i was sent home the same night with the news that it was most likely a miscarriage but they couldnt be sure until i had a scan so was booked in for a scan yesterday the 2 day wait was agonising but thankfully as soon as she started the scan she spotted a very strong heartbeat

so was very relieved but she still needed to check where the bleed was coming from so i was sent out to drink more water as my bladder wasnt full enough on the 3rd try she spotted the bleed then sent me to the doctor who explained that it looked like the bleed was due to some lining coming away but it hadnt effected the baby and the rest of pregnancy should go by normally from now on.

I also found out i was 1day further gone than i thought so im 11wks exactly today and due 25th sept not 26th not that it makes a difference as it'll be a c-section birth so a wk or 2 early anyway lol

twinklegreen · 07/03/2009 08:07

Hi everyone, I've been keeping an eye on this thread but was waiting to join till I knew everything was ok. Had my scan yesterday everything was normal and baby had a good heartbeat It's such a weight off my mind! had a MC in December at 9 weeks so have seriously on edge for the last few weeks.
Have a DD who is 3 and a DS who is 1 so this will be my third (and last!) child, it's making me so happy thinking that this is the last time I'm going to have to go through the horrors of the 1st trimester! BTW I'm due 29th Sept but have been overdue both times previously so thought I might be better joining the October thread, but I decided to live in hope that I might just have it on time this time!
Hope everyone else getting scans this week get good news too.

blue76 · 07/03/2009 08:08

I asked the mw about bleeding the other day and she confirmed something i'd read about. Apparently, some women continue to bleed around the time they would have menstruated. I had read this on the internet but wasn't sure whether it was another 'myth'. I had no bleeding in my previous pgs so this time around has been quite stressful at times!! I'm putting it down to my age (haha) I'm 32 and I was 21 and 23 when I had dd1 and dd2. Either that or it's a boy that's putting me through this....

spats · 07/03/2009 14:37

hi everyone, i have had my scan and now feel able to join this thread if thats OK. Due date is 15th sept so 12.5 weeks now. Had scan at local hospital in Hastings and then an extra one at fetal medicine centre as they do the extra tests for DS. Anyway the FMC gave an 1:8000 risk which i was pleased with. Both hospitals gave a low measurement for nuchal scan but they were different. My local one gave 1.1mm and london gave 1.5mm. I know there is not much in it but i was surprised they didn't make them the same, especially as one scan was the day after the other. I have been reading some of this thread and look foward to getting to know you are better as the months go on. My friend has just brought round all her mat clothes (she has tons!!) so i have a brand new wardrobe. Not ready for them yet as can just fit into some old clothes i had grown out of but a few weeks time i guess. Oh this is my 3rd. Morning sicknes is starting to ease. I can get through the day without having to chew gum to ease the nausea (only thing that worked, felt like cow chewing the cud!!!) SO hoping in few weeks will be gone and will be able to face food again. Sorry this is an all about me post x

FairySparkles · 07/03/2009 15:15

bexaa - I've just measured and I'm 8 1/4 and I'm only 11wks pg!!

erhianj - I'm in Vale of Glamorgan, I never had NT screening with my dd, and it's not been mentioned with this pregnancy so maybe its just not part of the NHS in Wales?? Although I had declined any downs screening at my initial booking appt., the subject was never raised later on?! Has your midwife asked you if you want any testing done when she did your booking app.?I had 1st scan at 12wks which was just a dating scan then the routine anomoly scan at 20 wks - nothing else - routine's the same for this pregnancy too.

Justfor the record on the sickness front - I was text book sick with dd but more sick this time, and much rounder!! me thinks its twins too!!!!
And the heart burn is the relaxin hormone coursing through your body - it can sometimes work a little bit too much on your diaphram causing stomach acid to come back up - great!! Then later in pregnancy when the baby's bigger - the size of it pushes your diaphram open too - even more fun! Have to say tho I never suffered with heart-burn with my daughter - girls are said to lie lower tho...... oh the old wives tales are endless!! (have heard the one about hair causing heart burn tho loads - my dd had loads of hair tho so that aint true!)

erhianj · 07/03/2009 15:54

Yuk - thought sickness starting to go, have had 2 very good days, BUT NO!! back again.Am glad I had a good day for my scan yesterday though, very good timing that! Maybe week 14 is the magic one.....
Would like to start eating properly - bubs is on a very restricted diet at the mo

Welcome to spats and twinklegreen!

audreyraines · 07/03/2009 16:20
