Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

hello all! wow, sounds like more babies on the way! i am bit worried when to go to hospital too, with dd2 we got there and i had her just over an hour later! mind you the 9 minutes one has to be a record!!! keep worrying if i will "know" when to go, we are also about 40 mins away if traffic bad, 20 if good..maybe your mum with horror story is just bit anxious for you and showing it that way? my mw said if you think it's too late to get to hospital just dial 999 and they will come to you anyway! blimey that would be dramatic. there is quite a good chapter in miriam stoppard pregnancy book about what to do if you are half way to hosp and baby won't wait! i've read it a few times but am buggered if i can remember what it says!!! something about newspapers and clothes and don't cut the cord...eek!
feeling washed out, dd1 having a few tantrums too, also about getting dressed/ready to go somewhere etc. when i am calm, i know it's cos changes are afoot, but at the time i want to scream sometimes!
take care all, xxx

twocutedarlings · 26/02/2009 12:11

Sunshine I cant remember, is this LO your first DC? if so IIRC most labour wards like contraction to be 5 mins apart with first babies and 10 mins when you have already laboured before, FWIW with we had to ring 999 (just like you discribed ruby)and DD2 was actually delivered by paramedics within 3 mins of them pulling up outside our house!! , and we are both still here to tell the tale, according to my MW 99% of babies that are born in these circumstances are perfectly healthy!! and rarely have any problems.

Good luck Livismum and Lolianja sending you lost of labour vibes

meep · 26/02/2009 14:24

Sunshine I was told 4/5 minutes apart for going into hospital but I was one of those people who went in earlier and got sent home - but that was after 24 hours of irregular contractions and I wanted reassurance that the baby wasn't in distress. She wasn't and I was only half a centimetre dilated - so while I was reassured i was also a tad disheartened.

Went back after another 17 hours and was about 3cm dilated - I was given the choice to either go home or stay and get some drugs - I stayed, got some drugs and managed to sleep. Had dd the next day!

TBH you will do what you feel comfortable with. Phone triage at the hospital whenever you want and they will talk through with you what they would like you to do and also what you feel you want to do (I was asked what I felt a lot!!!)

I had been determined not to be one of those pregnant ladies that got sent home - but how your labour goes will dictate what you do. If at any time you get anxious go to the hosital. If you are coping fine - stay at home where you can have a nice bath and are confortable.

I only live 10mins away from the hospital too - so you are within easy reach.
Your mum will just be anxious about her baby having a baby!

PS Lolianja's labour thread has gone quiet...........

twocutedarlings · 26/02/2009 15:01

ooo ive just noticed that slickbird hasnt posted since Monday now is it just me or does anyone else think that this is odd of our slick? and in her last post she was having alot of pain in her fanjo .

Me thinks (well hopes) slick might might be nursing a baby . If not then get your arse on here and tell us how you are!!

livismum · 26/02/2009 15:34

Hello! I'm still about! benn having random contractions all day spent most of it bouncing around on birthing ball, think its going to stay like this a while yet!

It's v funny with number 2 you expect it like ur first, with DD waters broke at 5 in morning didnt start contracting till mid morning they then steadily got worse through day, went in to hospital at 4 got sent home without being examined (as waters had gone) went back in at half 6 as i'd had enough then had her bang on midnight (cant remember some of it thanks to a hefty shot of pethadine which then had to be counteracted with adreneline as i was sleepy wanting to push!)

Hope i have a better night tonight it all seems so much worse in middle of night, and DH not about because he works night 45 mins away, dont think this helped my frame of mind last night! When i did ring him he asked if my waters had gone and as that was a no he wasnt that bothered! DD then woke and was a bit sick just as i was managing to drift off!

Anyway DD now having an unusual nap so going to try and join her! thanks for all ur support and wishes will keep updating

livismum · 26/02/2009 15:36

Oooh apologies for spelling! i'll blame the pain!

Wheelybug · 26/02/2009 15:59

oh good luck Livismum and Lolijana and interesting observation about slickbird. Also Titchy was being induced Monday wasn't she so she must have had her baby by now too !!

Glad to hear (although sorry you're going through it too !) I'm not the only one with a playing up sibling-to-be. DD is being horrid at the moment - tantrums over everything and she's 4 so kind of should know better but I guess its still all quite confusing for her. It didn't help that today her best friend became a big sister before her (to pre-mature twins - 31 weeks - so all a bit fraught but difficult to explain it to a 4 year old) and no she's had a strop over that.... Sigh....

Have Consultant appointment tomorrow so will I:

a) get home from it
b) get home from it without having a c-sec booked
c) spend half the day at the hospital

We shall wait and see !! Actually it makes me a bit nervous my friend having had her babies as we had our dd's a day apart when they should have been further apart ....

MKG · 26/02/2009 19:05

Hi all. I had my 39 week check today and have come out with good news. The baby is nice and low, I'm 50% effaced and am 2cm dilated (although with ds2 I was 1cm for about 3 weeks before he was born. I also lost part of my snot colored plug this morning. So now it's just a guess as to when I'll be in labor.

Hope we have lots of baby news on this thread soon.

laumiere · 26/02/2009 20:26

Hey Fearless!

I did get some RLT and had about 6 cups but none for days before the labour!

It may well do something though as had my 5 day post-natal checkup today and womb is contracting fast so maybe there is something in it?

Gabriel has apparently not lost any of his birth weight and is now 8lb 2 at 5 days old (7lb 14 at birth) so the BF seems to be working well!

titchy77 · 26/02/2009 21:47

Hello all, Quick update, gave birth to a baby boy on monday at 16.35, after having my waters broke and being put on the drip I went from 4cm to delivering in an hour!! far better than when I had my dd.
We named him Charlie William and he weighed in at 4lb 10, got out of hospital today after a few days of feeding problems. He's tiny but totally adorable and will post more when I have time.
Good luck for all those ladies in labour, bbeing induced or having sections.xx

MKG · 26/02/2009 21:56

Congrats to titchy!!

OP posts:
Wheelybug · 26/02/2009 21:59

Congratulations Titchy ! My dd was 4 lbs 9oz so I remember how small, but perfectly formed, they are ! Glad all is going ok.

MKG - maybe you next then ??

goldmother2b · 26/02/2009 22:08

Congrats titchy!

I may not have to be induced on Monday after all - had a big show a couple of hours ago and have had a continuous achy crampy feeling since....MKG - race you?

Wheelybug · 26/02/2009 22:10

ooh good luck goldmother - its all happening round here and its not even March yet !!

meep · 26/02/2009 22:12

congratulations titchy

meep · 26/02/2009 22:13

where is slick ???

MKG · 26/02/2009 22:13

OK I'll race you, but you'll probably win as I've got no pain.

OP posts:
lolianja · 26/02/2009 23:50

I think we're going to beaten to it MKG! My contractions have bloody dimished into nothing. They were getting really intense as well. Grrr.

Still shouldn't be too long though. I reckon either late tomorrow or at some point this weekend - that's my current hunch.

MKG · 27/02/2009 00:26

OK I'm really not feeling well and I'm trying to figure out if it's the tuna noodle salad I just ate or if this is the start of something. Then the question is, I'm currently 5 minutes from the hospital but if I go home after work I'll be 30 minutes. 1.5 hours till I can go home, maybe I just need to get off my feet.

corgikelly · 27/02/2009 07:16

Okay, next time I'm pregnant, I want my due date to fall at the beginning of the month - this is so exciting and unnerving to a first-timer!

Congratulations to everyone - what a range of stories and experiences we've had so far (and as wheelybug says, it's not even March yet!)

grinningbee · 27/02/2009 08:54

Hope no-one minds, I updated the list (hopefully!) and changed my due date and thought I'd better admit I had a birthday a while ago too...

Congratulations Titchy!

It all seems to be happening on here - what will March be like??? I'm soooo . My not so little bean is showing no sign whatsoever of wanting to move down, and seems intent on moving further up into my chest! She is head down but still floating around.

I went over to my friends house yesterday as she is an angel and lending me all her baby things, so I now have a moses basket, cot, pushchair, car seat, baby bath and numerous vests and babygrows. Not to mention a cute bouncy seat thing, and one you hang from a door frame. Oh, and a winnie the pooh mobile that plays a song and made me fill up when dh played it Just a few small bits to get now and that's it all done - well, apart from the painful bit anyway...

twocutedarlings · 27/02/2009 09:51

Good luck goldmother everything is crossed for you .

lolanja Try and get some rest while you have this little lull, the contraction will be back before you know it!!!

Right then girls, i am going to go next!!!! so keep your legs crossed!! Tis not fair!! i am 2 days over now, sob sob !! i wouldnt mind i feel fine, better than i have felt in weeks tbh. I have had the most sleep in the last 3 nights than i have had for weeks!!, the phone has never stopped ringing the last 2 days!! family and friends calling to see if there is any news aaaaarrrrrrgggg, do they not think we would call them ?? . The school run is doing my head in too, all the mums in the yard are constantly saying ooooooooooo is no baby then yet?? i mean come on!!......... WTF do i still look like a whale?? anyone would think that this fella was due weeks ago the way they carry on!!

jollyjoanne · 27/02/2009 09:57

Congratulations Titchy.

Can't believe we potentially have more action from some of the other early mums.

Still no action to report here, I am also starting to feel a bit , although to be honest I am still not sure I am ready for the pain of the labour or the scariness of having to look after a little baby. hopefully that will change in the next few days?!
