Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

feck off socky!!

Wheelybug · 27/02/2009 10:17

Already back from my 38 week consultant appointment ! Hurrah !

Baby head down but still high despite the hopeful pressure/twinges I've been getting the last couple of days making me think it was moving down but at least head down so I'm not complaining (yet).

I am having a sweep at 40 weeks and then have until 40+10 to get this baby out otherwise I am having an elective c-sec. Which seems reasonable. Although 23rd March suddenly seems a loooooong way away (when I had half got myself prepared for a c-sec next friday !!).

So, am off to buy pineapple.

Good luck to everyone who is overdue/ thinks they might be starting something !

auntyspan · 27/02/2009 10:18

Morning ladies! My what an eventful few days!

My waters started leaking on Wednesday morning, went for a check and they said if I went into labour I'd have to bring my section forward (currently booked in for Tuesday)

However, am being checked daily but no labour pains so looks like I'll hang on until tuesday...

Congrats Titchy - and good luck to everyone else.... gosh aren't things hotting up?!

goldmother2b · 27/02/2009 10:55

morning ladies - nothing to report from the goldmother camp - still a bit crampy, and have been feeling a bit sickly, but no proper contractions. Got another trip to the hospital today for BP monitoring and associated tests - sure to be a fun way to spend most of one of my last carefree days.....

off to have a bounce on my birthing ball before I go

MKG - sounds like it might be a long race...

titmouse · 27/02/2009 12:27

well done titchy! I just logged on hoping another wee baba would have come since my last read! So exciting.

Boobz how was your pampering day did you have a relaxing time?

My morning sickness has come back, I had to run to throw up my dinner last night and I was only half way through it! boo.

lizziemun · 27/02/2009 13:19

Congrates to thoose who have already have their babies.

Just back from my 38wk appointment. And head is down and free, but still deflected back. So i have to go again next wk if i have not had the baby by then. And if baby still in same position then i have to see the consultant the following wk.

I have been told if i go into labour when dh is at work then to call the delivery ward and explain baby position and pervious labours then they will get midwife's and paramedics to me asap.

Wheelybug · 27/02/2009 13:23

Lizzie - good its headdown - what does deflected back mean (not that I'm obssessed by positioning now or anything) - does it mean the head is sort of bent backwards as one of my friends had this (and delivered normally no problem... althougha little long).

Missmodular · 27/02/2009 14:16

Hi everyone - in the spirit of this thread, can I ask what your - ahem - discharge is like? I'm getting so much I'm worried that it might be waters leaking. If I don't wear a pad it soaks thru to my trousers. It's white and watery and I've been getting it for about four days now - sorry tmi!!! Should I be taking it seriously?

laweaselmys · 27/02/2009 14:29

My midwife said if you put a pad on it and it soaks it in half an hour then it's your waters.

It sounds like it is though, maybe ring the on call midwife and check with them?

ceedub · 27/02/2009 14:48

Hi everyone,

apologies for not posting earlier - have been pretty busy since Sunday, when our beautiful little girl - Freya - decided to arrive 9 days early! She weighed in at a very healthy 8 pounds 1 ounce and dp and I are completely in love with her

Congratulations to all the other early birds, and good luck to everyone else...What an exciting time!!

lizziemun · 27/02/2009 15:28

Wheelybug

the baby head is resting bent backwards as if looking up at the sky if that makes sense.

Slickbird · 27/02/2009 16:18

Hey everyone! Thanks for noticing I wasn't here, but unfortunately still nothing to report! My internet is down and I have only just managed to post because I am at my parents! I've missed so much in such a short space of time.

Congrats to all those with new safe arrivals. Really delighted for you all.

I've been having lots of on and off contractions all week, but interspersed with DD's birthday (over two days of chaos) and OH HOW SORE IS MY F*NNY NOW???!!! I had a check up with the Dynamo yesterday and she reckons I'm 4/5ths engaged (ie, only 1/5th left in the brim) which certainly explains the pain I've been getting. I'm quite surprised tho as it is more unusual for babies to engage after first time. I just hope that it all helps as I have notoriously long labours. Tomorrow is my due date and I have been eating pineapple and tonight we are having a hot curry. Fingers crossed as I am so ready.

So glad to hear of all the activity and hopefully I can get my internet sorted soon. Mind, if you don't hear from me it could be for other reasons. Take care everyone... xxxx

laweaselmys · 27/02/2009 16:39

Congratulations ceedub!! Another lovely name choice.

Wheelybug · 27/02/2009 16:41

Congratulations on the birth of Freya Ceedub !! Hope all is going well.

Lizzie - if I imagine it correctly, that is how my friend's dd was and as I say, she had a lovely natural waterbirth but had a long first stage so fingers crossed for you !

Sounds promising Slick and Missmod

Wow, another one!! Congratulations Titchy!

Many thanks for your replies yesterday.... I think that i will be calling hospital when I am 7 minutes in between contractions. I phoned my mum today and explained everything again - we were both in more positive moods!

Good vibes to you all....xx

corgikelly · 27/02/2009 17:07

As proof that pregnancy has made me lose all of my polite inhibitions, a question for you ladies:

Anyone else been doing perineal massage in the hopes of avoiding an episiotomy? We tried for the first time last night and it HURT! Is this normal? Does it get better? Any tips?

(Poor DP - I've been ignoring him in the bedroom for months, but as my belly now prevents me from reaching my own fanjo, I had to march up to him and say, "Please don't take this the wrong way, but I would like you to lubricate your fingers, insert them in my vagina and make U-shaped motions." The look on his face was priceless.

kanga5 · 27/02/2009 17:17

Hi all

Congratulations to all the new mums and the safe arrival of their babies. Ceedub, that is a lovely name, but then I am totally biased as it is my sister's name.

Sympathy vibes sent to twocute being overdue, all my 4 so far have been and it drove me slightly nuts!

Hedgewitch: sending labour vibes, and to all those others experiencing early signs...v. exciting.

Fearless: I have had 3 speedy labours with no raspberry leaf tea to help. I just need help to start labour, I seem fine once it is under way and I wouldn't want labour to be any faster anyway! I've been told to call the labour ward if things go quick and they will call 999 and the midwives to attend. Scary thought.

I have not posted much this week as it has been a bad week for me. After 2ds being sick last weekend, dd got it too, then DH, I felt ill with headaches, blurry vision etc. I had an antenatal with the doctor on Thurs luckily, and BP fine, urine fine, measured a bit small again, but put it all down to being up all night with sick family, and all the consequent washing. Just had to get out of the house today...and to cap it all off the infant school phoned me AT NOON to ask why hadn't I reported DS3 absent today? Well my heart and tummmy absolutely did flip flops and I started to shake as I knew I'd left him at school. After what seemed like ages they confirmed their mistake and said he was there after all. I felt really sick.

Anyway this afternoon I decided to cheer myself up by getting out the newborn baby clothes...ahhhh

sorry for that ramble

CaptainKarvol · 27/02/2009 17:19

woohoo, Titchy and Ceedub congratulations!

Corgi, lol, but I'm so glad you said that - I tried perineal massage for the first time yesterday and it was really sore, I thought it was just me (haven't exactly been up for much since conception really, so an underused area....)

CaptainKarvol · 27/02/2009 17:21

Oh Kanga, x-posts, what a time you've had... The phone call from school alone would be enough. I really hope things get better for you.

kanga5 · 27/02/2009 17:21

hello corgi

I did the massage thing with first baby, and still ended up with a cut and forceps delivery.

didn't bother massage with the other 3, and tore minimally.

I can't reach anyway now, and TBH there is probably a well worn path so to speak for the 5th one!!

kanga5 · 27/02/2009 17:24

I know captain, talk about a shock to bring on a labour, if that is possible!!!

Next week it will be better as it is my friend's birthday, and I am having a haircut to look good in hospital!!!

titmouse · 27/02/2009 17:50

corgi I got some perineal massage gel from Mothercare and had a go once last week but I keep forgetting - and, from your description, I wasn't doing it right either so I guess I need to be finding out where my perineum actually is

titmouse · 27/02/2009 17:50
