STILTON!! this is what I did (a lot of home pasteurization going on here..). Put in a saucepan with a bit of cream and let it all melt and boil up to kill everything. Then stir in a bit of butter and chill in the fridge (or freezer if very desperate!). Spread on toast - delicious, albeit a funny pale green colour!
Also recommend baking camembert it its box with a splash of wine and garlic (at 200c) and then dipping crudites or crusty bread in it. Goats cheese goes on a tart with peppers and feta in a pumpkin risotto! Can you tell I'm half-french from my cheese fetish?!?

Evening ladies.

We're back from the In Laws. Had a nice afternoon my step daughter met her baby cousin for the first time and although she's usually the centre of attention she hasn't been too bad with the new addition. Mind you she did get a massive sack of presents so I think that softened the blow a little, lol.

Now sat in front of a roaring fire, eating chocolates about to watch the last in the series of Top Gear.

Hi all
Finally at home slobbing on sofa, after xmas in Kent and a christening today - we're all shattered and in need of some R and R after the travelling and being away from home for 4 days.
I was naughty over crimbo and succumbed to some stilton and some pate - but very small slithers in both cases. I miss both of these so much!
Watching 39 steps now - catch you al later

llareggub · 28/12/2008 21:41

Hello

Hope all of you with bugs are getting over it. Nothing here but the odd cold.

I have my anomaly scan on Wednesday at 8.30am. We've decided to find out the sex if possible.

We had a very productive day, clearing out the spare room for baby and buying a new carpet. DS was so excited when he realised that the baby in my tummy is actually going to be a little person requiring a bedroom. Hope it lasts!

Have a great birthday dandylioness

SpangleMaker · 29/12/2008 10:31

Happy birthday Dandy hope you have a lovely day!

Our cat died yesterday afternoon I'm pretty sure it was her heart - we knew she had an underlying condition which she was on medication for, but it seemed to be working and the vet gave her the ok on Christmas Eve. At least DH and I were both there, would have been awful to come home from work and find her.

Had a very twitch tummy lying in bed this morning - baby was clearly more awake than me!

Febes · 29/12/2008 10:37

Morning all I have my scan today so getting excited about that. Not finding out the sex but am tempted to this time. I think its a boy but would be happy with either.
DD was sick in bed last night and then went straight back to sleep luckily it was mainly on the sheet and not her. Bless her, she's never been sick before (13months) she seems fine now but I felt a bit bad that she slept in it .
Happy birthday Dandy!!
Spangle so sorry about your cat .

SesHasnearlyreachedhalfway · 29/12/2008 10:38

Happy birthday Dandylioness

Spangle - really sorry to hear about your cat. Pets become so much part of the family it is really sad
Am impressed with your twitchy tummy! I've still only felt what I call "sensations" that I think are movements. A bit like wind that doesn't feel like it's going anywhere IYKWIM.

Well I'd better get going - scan at 11.30!

LoobyLou36 · 29/12/2008 10:42

spangle I am so sorry about your cat

One of my cats, Maisie has been missing for 9 days. Really worried, have asked around but no one has seen her.

pulapula · 29/12/2008 14:08

Hello all,

Sorry to hear about your cats Spangle and loobylou. Hope Maisie comes home soon- a friend of mine had a missing cat which turned up safe and well (albeit a bit thinner and needing a bit of TLC) a few months later a couple of miles from home!

Am just building up to another birthday party for DD in an hour or so- a few of her friends. Had 2 cancellations today, but might be a good thing as when they all get together it can be very riotous (3 and 4 year olds are so excitable!).

Got to go and make some sandwiches now...

At least tomorrow and Weds DD and DS are in nursery so we can have some quiet time and sales shopping!

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 29/12/2008 14:25

Hi! Back from scan and all well. Piccie duly posted incase anyone hasn't had enough of scan photos!
I'm back at the hospital tomorrow for a consultant appointment to make sure my thyroid is ok but after today I'm not worried!

LoobyLou - hope your cat finds her way home.

Right - best go and get ready for the PIL arriving!

LoobyLou36 · 29/12/2008 14:32

ses nice pic - did you find out the flavour?

Sesthinks2009willbeagreatyear · 29/12/2008 14:39

No - managed to persaude DH not to find out this time as it is our first. In fact the sonographer didn't even ask us but I guess if we'd have wanted to know, she'd have looked. We are in blissful ignorance

toomuchpicknmix · 29/12/2008 14:46

hi all
I haven't posted before - site comes highly recommended!
Am 20 weeks tomorrow with first baby. Had awful experience with Trisomy 18 baby early this year so feeling anxious.Don't have big scan til Mid jan.
What does the baby moving feel like?
thanks

LoobyLou36 · 29/12/2008 14:48

good for you ses I had to persuade DH same. Our first too.

If I had found out I'd prob be out buying cute baby clothes in the sales, lol

LoobyLou36 · 29/12/2008 14:49

welcome toomuchpicknmix

toomuchpicknmix · 29/12/2008 14:50

thanks
feel like real novice reading all the stuff on here!!

cece · 29/12/2008 15:51

Just popping in to say Happy New Year as we are away from tomorrow till term starts back.

All well here. At the half way mark today . Saw the mw at 18 and 19 weeks for HB listen in and all fine. Sounded like galloping horses at 18 weeks but a train at 19 weeks so not sure what that says about the gender! LOL

MsG · 29/12/2008 16:34

Sorry to hear about your cat, spangle. Hope yours turns up, Louby.

Welcome, toomuchpicknmix. What's Trisomy 18? I think I've heard of it but can't think.

I think I have felt a few flutters (am 18 weeks) but it's not every day and in fact I haven't felt anything since Friday... I understand that's normal though - can anyone advise on movements and what to expect and when? It seems that everyone says different things. I know someone who said she could feel it moving quite early on but she already has children.

xx

pulapula · 29/12/2008 19:35

I am 19 weeks today, and feel the odd fluttering but nothing definite, and i've had 2 children too so know what it feels like. I know LO is still safe and well though as i have a doppler and had a listen last night.

Just recovering from DDs party. Due to the 4 cancellations yesterday and today accounting for 7 children, it was a very civilised affair and surprisingly calm. But it does mean lots of leftovers to work through...

Febes · 29/12/2008 19:43

Hi had my scan and I asked the sonographer if she could tell the sex but she could so that made up our minds for us. We didn't really want to know anyway so for the best. I have a low placenta so I have to go back for another scan at 34 weeks she wasn't too concerned so I am excited that I get another scan and not too worried about the placenta hopefully it will be fine at next scan.

Movements- I am feeling hard kicks now low down near my fanjo especially at night when lying down- I'm 21.5 weeks. I think if you think you are feeling something you probably are it starts as flutterings or bubbles which could be mistaken for wind but you will feel it soon strong and sure enough. Soon you will be complaining about not being able to sleep with it!!!

MsG · 29/12/2008 21:08

Thanks pulapula and Febes - I was a bit concerned that I thought I felt it a few times last week but not felt anything since Friday! I'll try to stop fretting! I've only got just under 2 weeks before scan so hopefully will be reassured then.

Febes hope your placenta rights itself - I think it can do that, can't it?

x

Hello Ladies, Happy Christmas and a Happy almost-New Year to you all!
Haven't been here properly for ages due to exhaustion mainly (Christmas related obviously) - by 7pm I'm asleep on the sofa so no time to MNet really!
Have my anomoly scan tomorrow morning, am taking DH and both DD's with me......wonder what little 2yr old will think of it. At least DH can take her out of the room. I know it's probably not that advisable to take kids to an anomoly scan (21 wks) but having had a clear amnio I'm not too concerned.
Congrats on all the scans so far, nice to hear all is well.
Is anyone else totally exhausted and fed up of all this Christmas-ness? I am just beyond tired most of the time despite having reasonably early nights and the DD's sleeping in until 9.30 am on several occasions!(how, why?)
Feeling lots of movement too esp when lying down - am a bit worried the baby is very long though as sometimes I get a kick on one side and a kick on the other side at the same time - it is either massive or lying stretched out across my tummy kicking and punching at the same time. Bizarre child! Will be interesting to find out if it is a long one tomorrow. (I think DD1 was classed as 'long' actually thinking about it and she is definitely tall for her age now - maybe he's just going to be a big strapping boy!)
Baby kicking at the moment actually, aaahhhh!
Bought some sneaky baby clothes in M&S sale the other day - gorgeous stuff for £3 and £5 in powder blue. Was paranoid someone I knew would see me and confront me about the purchase of blue stuff when I'm not supposed to know the sex, but luckily don't think I was spotted. Is now all safely hidden away. Although DH and I did get it out the other night to go Aaahhhh all over it!
Sorry huge post. Hope everyone is fine anyway.
Bye!
