Merry Christmas ladies!!!

SpangleMaker · 25/12/2008 10:31

Cote I once arrived at Montpellier airport to find the passports being checked by some young lad in jeans & t-shirt!

Momino · 25/12/2008 15:12

Merry Christmas everyone ! Doubt many will be on today but I'm just enjoying a sit-down whilst the gammon is coming to a boil.

we've all been hit by the flu so have cancelled trip to inlaws. although we're missing the lovely christmas dinner made with trimmings by MIL, none of us have an appetite and I'm missing the extra four hands with the girls, I'm relieved to be at home, not caring about visitors or how i look.

we all look terrible: watery red eyes, kids have noses crusted over, chesty coughs - anyone else have this? Poor dh is a day behind me in this flu so is now upstairs asleep. bless him, he ran all the errands, watched the girls yesterday when i was bed-ridden.

anyway, wish I were in Bulgaria - sounds lovely! hope the rest of you are having a wonderful day wherever you are.

now off to watch cheesy christmas telly .

JennstarOfWonder · 25/12/2008 15:24

Cote, not all homeopathy is safe in pregnancy, and some can even interact with the contraceptive pill. Don't ask me which though

House move went well and am on internet at my parents, as we don't have it in the new house until next week. Working tomorrow

Have a happy and as healthy as possible Christmas everybody.

Hope you all had a lovely day...sorry to hear of the illnesses though. I'm full of cold but thankful it's just a cold and not flu.

Had a lovely day just with DH - we had a lovely stuffed squash with all the veg and watched loads of telly.

I thought I could feel movements a few days ago in my tummy - kind of fluttering - but not felt it again. I was told that can happen, though, so I'm trying not to worry.

Homeopathy intrigues me...I really don't see how it can work but appreciate that for many they do seem to help...

xx

Just having a sit down after a hectic xmas day and before we have 18 people + 6 children for DDs birthday party tomorrow!

I am not a heavy homeopathic medicine person here, but teething powders really seem to help DS, and I used arnica before and after my c-section and everyone in the hospital and midwife afterwards were amazed with how little bruing i had, so I plan to use it again this time.

Hope you all had a nice xmas day- sorry some have been full of cold and flu- i seemed to have escaped it all.

FiKelly · 26/12/2008 15:39

sorry to hear so many more of us have been poorly ds just finished his anti-biotics today and I'm still coughing during the day.. ok now at night so hoping i can shift it soon. dh in bed.. he came down with it yesterday

despite all this we're having a wonderful family time and i'm sure my lo has been on a growth spurt as my neat bump has suddenly got much larger.. although it could just be the roast dinners! just about to pop an Aberdeen angus t-bone joint to roast in oven smothered in whole grain mustard and a touch of maple syrup.. and have yorkshire pud batter ready to go. ds not v hungry so going to make him an omelette for tea and after he's asleep we'll tuck into the beef

have a great night everyone x x x

Hi, hope everyone is starting to feel better. We had our scan on Christmas Eve, which was good - all well. We didn't find out the sex, but because I am carrying smaller this time everyone inc DH assumes this will be a girl. I keep trying to remind him it maybe a normal sized boy!!

We spent Christmas day with my family which was nice, but now I think my hormones are playing me up as I've been sulking about presents I received or didn't receive yesterday!! There's no reason for this and I am thankful for what I did receive, but I just feel so today. Oh well best go and make supper

mumof3bs1more · 27/12/2008 00:13

Hi all, just a quick stop in to say I am still around. Hope everyone had a nice xmas. We are full of bugs in this house too with ds and I full of a rotten cold that really takes grip of the sinuses and twists them into unbearable pain!!! I was sorely tempted to buy some pink things for baby but just too paranoid still. We do have stuff left from ds which will do for a newborn but as she grows we will def have to buy stuff...cant imagine a wee girl too happy going around in an outfit "Cool wee dude" etc. Really struggling with names too atm. Anyway... hope all is well with everyone.

SesHasnearlyreachedhalfway · 27/12/2008 08:41

Morning all!

Welcome mumof3

We had a great Christmas. Am on call for work today but hoping the phone stays quiet!

We have our scan on Monday and at the moment DH and I can't agree on finding out whether it's a boy or a girl. As it's our first, I'd like to not find out but DH has decided that he would like to know! If he finds out there's no way he'll keep it a secret from anyone as he's like an excitable little boy! Any ideas???!

pulapula · 27/12/2008 12:09

Morning all,

Ses- I think you need to convince DH that as you'll be the one doing all the hard work, you want to have a nice surprise when you get to deliver your baby.

You could always say to DH that if you have another one, you will find out lol.

With my first, I wanted to know but DH didnt and I went along with him as I thought it would be nice to have a surprise at the end. I really wanted a girl but was sure it was going to be a boy, so it was the best thing ever when DD finally arrived. My DH said i deserved a little DD after the labour i'd had, and it was definitely the right decision.

Just having a rest while DH has taken DD to collect her birthday cake, and DS is having his nap. He is so grouchy today- he is teething badly, and constantly drooling. I've given him some nurofen and will give him another dose later if he is still grumpy, otherwise the party wont be much fun (i can't leave the room without him getting really upset).

Momino · 27/12/2008 17:19

hi all. it's past 5pm and DH, both DDs still napping. should have been napping myself but have been internet shopping for a 40th birthday gift for best friend in the US and it's taken me an hour and a half to find a site that takes a UK card and ships to US (it's champagne so not straightforward).

poorly dd's seem to only want mummy at the moment so not been easy the past six days. we've been in the house since last weekend save for a few dog walks. feeling better but all left with a chesty cough. not a very pleasant christmas and we're all grumpy now.

might try to go visit the inlaws for a couple of days from tomorrow. at least DDs would have grandparents as distraction as they're driving me/dh mad with they're whingeing/crying. bless them, it's mainly because they're only getting over this flu but still very hard to remain patient.

sorry this is a one-sided post and a bit whingey myself but really need to off load as I'm feeling sorry for myself.

hope you're all well, in any case. best wishes, xxx

Febes · 27/12/2008 19:28

Merry Christmas everyone just got back fom Lancaster and am knackered but posting and will start to catch up now.

LoobyLou36 · 27/12/2008 20:46

Hope everyone had a good xmas.

I met my newest niece just 11 weeks old and already well into 3-6 month babygrows - one bonny baby!

Got some xmas money so am looking at buying some nursing tops. My SIL had a great bouncy/rocking baby chair which played tunes and vibrated to keep baby amused - it looked quite useful so we're looking to buy one.

Got a really cute newborn babygrow/bag thing from MIL, its got a hood with a bear head and cute little ears on it. Its the first thing that's been bought new for DONK (DH has named bump this!).

Feel very down today, my mum (not very interested at the best of times) has decided not to bother to come round tonight with my dad. This was arranged a while ago and I know she can't be bothered most of the time but it is xmas.
I didn't expect a present or a card but a happy xmas would have been nice.

Sorry - rant over.

Momino · 27/12/2008 23:01

looby, sorry about your mum... is this out of character?

we're a bit better today and going to inlaws tomorrow for tlc.

i'm dying for some stilton -have any of you had it grilled on toast? will the grilling kill any potential bacteria or whatever it is we are risking? I've bought some but want to get back up from anyone else that eats this grilled on toast. i thought I'd heard it's ok this way.

have any of you tried mulled cider? actually it's apple juice of the cloudy kind, heated with a clove-studded clementine, ginger, cinnamon stick, allspice, nutmeg. it tastes like mulled wine but nicer.

momino I should have expected my mum to be like this really. She didn't even want to come to my wedding! And when she did come she was miserable in all the photos. But I just thought she could have tried, especially with her first grandchild on the way

Oh well.

Re: stilton. It's really not fair - we have a big block in the fridge, really ripe too just how I like it. I'd be interested if its safe grilled on toast too.

Going to PIL today, my stepdaughter is meeting her baby cousin for the first time. MIL is cooking chicken and stilton pie for lunch - never tried it before.

SesHasnearlyreachedhalfway · 28/12/2008 09:08

Morning!
LoobyLou - why is it that parents behave so badly sometimes??! Sorry about your mum. Hope you have a good time at inlaws today.

Another Stilton lover here! Not had mulled cider though but sounds good.

We're having lunch at my parents today and then my PIL arrive from Ireland tomorrow afternoon to stay for a week.

Scan tomorrow morning too. DH has agreed to not find out the sex I just think it would be nice to save the suprise for our first.

SpangleMaker · 28/12/2008 11:39

Morning all!

Sorry to hear so many have been ill Fortunately our families seem to have escaped it so far. I'm a bit worried about MIL though - neither PIL have had the flu jab because FIL thinks it's a ploy by doctors who get paid by the jab . MIL was very seriously ill a few years ago (intensive care for a month) & was left v frail & weak in the chest and so we're really worried about her catching the flu. Anyway I've primed DH to nag them when we go round later today.

Looby that's awful about your mum

Good luck for your scan Ses

We've had a nice Christmas - with ILs Christmas Day, my Dad/step mum/step sis + boyf/brother + girlf on Boxing Day & sales shopping yesterday with DH. Found the shopping hard work especially as there wasn't much for me to buy.... although I did end up with a rather posh handbag
