SweetBROODY · 12/01/2009 15:36

I think I will - But only because its my first and I want to see what baby looks like on the 3D scan - they seem to show true resemblances to the baby at birth... Thats the only reason really..

I think its soooo stupid.. state the bloo*y obvious isnt it!

llareggub · 12/01/2009 15:49

Tummum I'm not a million miles away from Coventry....I live near the big castle in the next town!

llareggub · 12/01/2009 15:52

sweetBROODY I had a 4D scan with DS. It was the most amazing sight and we watched the DVD over and over again, and probably bored others silly! I remember seeing his little nose sticking up with his chin raised, and it is something he does now. Hard to explain but I first saw him do on the scan, so it is something special to see it now, 2 years on.

Potty training is going well, although he has just told me his trousers are damp. He hasn't had any accidents in the last few days so thought I'd give clothes a whirl. Oops!

FiKelly · 12/01/2009 16:05

moonlit & sweetbroody shame your little ones were playing hide and seek.. esp when you wanted to know...

Just got round to uploading some photos of my bump to my profile page... some taken earlier in the month and some today. The rest of me is looking a complete fright so no way i was doing a full length with my face/head in the frame! too shattered to even brush my hair today!!!! www.mumsnet.com/member/MemberPage?call=com.mumsnet.member.PublicImageGallery&nick=FiKelly

SweetBROODY · 12/01/2009 16:07

llareggub Thats exactly the kind of thing I mean - I really hope it is as profound as I hope it is.. the scans at hospital lasting 10 mins or so just dont satisfy!

I'm hoping baby will do something for us...

Good luck with that potty training.

FiKelly · 12/01/2009 16:12

I would love to get a 4d scan... we didn't with ds and now funds just can't stretch to one this time

OP posts:
SweetBROODY · 12/01/2009 16:17

Fikelly the one I found is £149 and there is a package cheaper then this one.. maybe you could put the mummy fund money towards it? it is an unexpected amount of money?

sausagenmash · 12/01/2009 16:21

Hello - can I join this group please!? Am new to MN - and am due 27 May with first baby Have the 2nd scan next week and am desperate to know what we're having!

Moonlit - just did a quick google search and think you may be in luck with places in High Wycombe, Stoke Mandeville and also Watford if you are that side? There seems to be tons of places about. Alternatively, there are tons in London - I'm hoping to get into the Portland for a private scan if my sonographer next week can't tell.

Also - quick question - has anyone experienced weird / spooky dreams at all?!

runningmonkey · 12/01/2009 16:26

Hiya,

Moonlit and Sweetbroody sorry about your scans not being definitive, am really sorry about the next bit of my post too.

Just back from mine - its a boy... we think! Sonographer got a v quick look on the way down to measure thigh bone but when she went back to show us in detail, the little bugger had crossed legs and the umbilical cord was in the way! She really poked and prodded to try to get him to move but he wasn't having any of it (takes after his Dad then) My gut feeling was right by the look of it. We're not telling anyone in RL but its nice to share with you guys, otherwise I think I might burst

So good thing we've got a really long list of boys names!

llareggub · 12/01/2009 16:28

Mine was an unexpected silver lining to a pretty miserable experience.

We went to this place for a consultation following a worrying appointment with the midwife who told me I was measuring small for my dates, following the bump measurement. She really worried me, but couldn't get me a scan for a week.

So we went private, and were seen by Mums that very evening. We met with the consultant, who scanned me, and he told us that I was measuring spot on for my dates. Cue much relief!

I think he felt a bit sorry for us, as we'd paid £100 or so to see him, for really no reason but reassurance. I'd also been there at 8 weeks following a massive bleed. So a regular customer, if you like!

We left there with an unexpected 4d scan and a big smile.

FiKelly · 12/01/2009 16:29

Hi sausagenmash and oh yes weird dreams... got them last time and again this time. Some are just totally nutty!

sweetbroody it's an idea for the money... the clinic in bristol close to us charges £195... DH isn't as bothered about getting one done as our 20wk & nuchal scans were so clear he's just happy to wait for the baby now

OP posts:
runningmonkey · 12/01/2009 16:31

Hi sausagenmash, yes to the wierd dreams. Very wierd indeed.

Moonlit · 12/01/2009 16:33

oooooh sausageenmash - where is the one in High Wycombe? It didn't come up when I did it.

Runningmonkey - No need to feel bad, I am very pleased for you. Congratulations!

My DH says to wait until March (when we move to the US) because I will get one as part of my health care in pregnancy, because I will be a new patient!

I can't wait that long!!!!!

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 12/01/2009 16:35

hi all, congrats on all the scans latley

i had mine today im 20wk+1, the lil was being abit of a bugger and wouldnt move round for the first lady even went to jump around in the toilet and still didnt move, in the end got sent back out to go for a walk and have something to eat and then had to come back and wait to see someone else, anyway at did move in the end and we were happy coz we got to find out the sex ITS A BOY! (sorry to those that couldn't) so ds is happy as he wants a lil brother, and were ok bout it as wasn't to fussed and like it will be nice for two boys to have each other as they grow up. also means we get to try for another one somewhere along the line!

am happy but also dreading having to fish all ds's clothes and things out the loft and go trhough it all theres so much, will be fun though i spose might have to start now though as may take a few months lol!

am also feeling very tired at the mo, just cant seem to sleep well at all, still up to the toilet 3-4 times a night, ds also keeps waking and coming in the bed with us and he's such a wriggler. also dreaming lots which i think wake me sometimes.

FiKelly · 12/01/2009 16:43

I was getting withdrawal symptoms with not being able to go and buy any girly stuff for #2 since we found out on the 23rd dec... because of ds, me & Dh being so poorly over xmas and up to end of last week..

I have to admit to be making up for it yesterday & today with some excellent ebay bargains with this being #2 i'm not so bothered about it all being completely brand new (although when i get a chance to do the monsoon, next & gap outlet shops there'll be no stopping me). So for the moment i've lots of nice parcels of cute newborn next/catimini/pumpkin patch/monsoon girly stuff to look forward to arriving and there's loads more things i'm watching too

OP posts:
Tummum · 12/01/2009 16:47

llareggubb how strange - I also ended up at Mums for early scan because dates were all over the place, and also Nuchal because I was petrified of results (cousin has DS) so wanted to know asap. Got a mini 4D at nuchal, and even then it was amazing to see LO all snuggled up.... at 11 weeks !

sausagenmash · 12/01/2009 16:49

moonlit - thought I saw HW, but may be mistaken. Just saw a thingy on yell.com which is some private midwives in Hazlemere - they might know?

Failing that, I guess London would be your best bet. I used to live in HW - if you got the train into Marylebone, (?40mins ride) the Portland hospital isn't too far from there.

Glad people have had weird dreams - had one the other night with robots in. I had just seen 'Transformers' but still!

Moonlit · 12/01/2009 16:53

FiKelly - Monsoon and GAP in my high street have started their 70% off sale! Lots of lovely girls items. I couldn't buy anything, because of the exchange only policy on sale items in Monsoon. I didn't want to risk getting girls items, and now we don't know anyway, so I guess I am not too disappointed about missing the bargains.

You should definitely have a look. P.s you have a lovely bump Mine has spread out in every direction possible...lol.

FiKelly · 12/01/2009 16:59

thanks moonlit i'm planning a visit to clarks village in street over the next few weeks as it's not too far away and there's a next/monsoon/gap/M&S and others all close together and with the deals they do on the high street and sometimes even more... my other choice is a big sprawling shopping mall but not as much choice. Nothing special in weston here...

Thank you sausagenmash for the information!

Do you know how much the Portland hospital one costs? Lets hope you can save the money and you find out next week, what you are having

I don;t know if other clinics do this, but in Sheffield you can have a scan to just look for the sex which only costs £50. for those wanting to know, why not call your local clinic and see what they say- it would only need a short scan so maybe they can offer a special rate, although if you are wanting 4D scans anyway, then guess you want the full works!

sausagenmash- welcome- i've added you to the list too,
