I've had a quick google search too and it seems that 1500m isn't considered that high and if you are generally fit and healthy you should be ok, but just advises to speak to a midwife or doctor first. Just give your body chance to acclimatise and don't overdo things and I'm sure you'll be fine. Enjoy the trip.

flippineck we've gone through a phase like this when ds approached 2yrs. in the end we figured out he unfortunately no needed his daytime nap. these days he only naps in the day if he's sick, awake reeeally early or up in the night with a bad dream etc. shame as i've been really shattered too recently and could do with a nap myself!
htheh i don't know anything about altitude probs.. sorry. how about talking to your midwife or local ante-natal clinic? very envious of your trip away

Evening everyone

DH & I have had a very quiet and lazy day today trying to recuperate as much as possible before the onslaught of the week. Baby, on the other had, has been partying like mad all day (or that's what it feels like!). I can't work out which way up he is - I've felt loads of movement very low down but also movement and pressure behind my belly button. I'm feeling pretty massive today too (24wks).

HtheH my brother, who's into mountain climbing, reckons you start to notice the effects of high altitude at around 10,000ft/3,000m so you should be fine at approx half that. But always worth a check.

HtheH, not sure how high it is but I was up at the top of Mt Vesuvius at 24 weeks with pregnancy no.1. no problems. dd1 seems perfectly normal!

with 2nd pregnancy was in the California mountains (again, not sure altitude) at 22 weeks.

I was aware of some risk but now not sure what the risk was! in any case, both girls came out well. you should be fine.

Hello Ladies!

I hope you are all well?

I am off to my scan in a couple of hours and hoping to find out whether it's a boy or a girl. My DH is accompanying me and is going to attempt to control our 2.9 year old. I am so excited!!!

I haven't posted in ages because we are moving to the US. Before the baby arrives!!!!! However, I have been reading the thread everyday, I can't start my day, unless I have sat infront of the computer with my bowl of cornflakes.

Glad you found your ring delighted. Dh lost his wedding ring in the backgarden a couple of weeks ago was a nightmare trying to find it...our garden is gravelled!! Unsurprisingly it is now at the jewellers being made smaller

h I wouldn't worry about 1500m just don't do any strenuous exercise and if you feel breathless just try to relax as much as poss - I am not a dr tho so might be worth calling yr mw to check

We're having a boy, but not sure how to update as it all looks rather complicated now.

Am having a very tough time thinking of names as don't seem to be happy with any, but dh wants Luke (after Luke Skywalker) which I totally hate.

oh and my other good news is that hospital senior midwife has agreed to let me try for a vbac waterbirth (having been refused by registrar, who looked like she thought i was insane)

Hello all

Also feeling quite grumpy today - v tired & suddenly HUGE (or feel like it); it is beginning to dawn on me that with two, I am going to keep growing and growing and growing...

On a more positive note, we bought our nursery furniture yesterday! Went to Mamas & Papas and just fell in love with a range which was on sale. Sadly, when we got to the counter to order it, we found that the offer was not on the colour we wanted & it had a 5 month (!) lead time, but as I pointed out that they still had prices up for that colour they said if we ordered in the other colour we could get one of our mattresses for free! Very pleased with the whole transaction. We've got 2 x cotbeds, a changer/chest of drawers a tall chest of drawers and some shelves.

These are the first things I've bought for the babies, so it was really exciting to get started. DH is skiing next week so I'm taking a week's holiday and staying with my parents rather than being alone while he's away, so me & Mum can get going on the rest!

Only 5 weeks left at work for me (plus 1 week of holiday, so 6 weeks to go in total) Sometimes that seems like a short time and somedays (today!) it feels like I might not make it!

I went to a bit of an upmarket soft play centre today (posh bit of sheffield and posh prices - £4.95 per child) and the names were definitely different from your usual selection, only a handful of kids there including:

Atticus (like Momino's fav name)- shortened to Atty

You must be going at the same time as me, 1stMrsF! My last day in work is 18 February, I can't wait!

I'm really tired today, but it looks like DS is doing without his nap. Sigh, I might have to indulge in a strong coffee to keep me going.

moonlit, where in the US are you moving to? I'm from Ohio, DH has a visa but we really hesitate to do a move in this climate though I'm desperate to be nearer my mother who's just turned 77.

am so tired today and should be napping as DD2 upstairs napping, DD1 sitting quietly watching telly - instead I'm on the internet. and will get up in a moment as I've got friends coming round tonight so need to do some prep. am planning to have a glass of red wine tonight and looking forward to it!

1stMrsF sounds like a fun shopping trip and exciting to start building nursery furniture, makes things seem more real. I still don't know what we're going to do about cot for baby3. DD2 will be in a cot, dd1 in a toddler bed and we'll stall for time by keeping baby3 in a moses basket for a few months.

pula, that's great to hear of an Atticus. so if we do have a boy and we do choose that name, it may not be as unusual as I thought. I also like Cassius. But, what am i thinking? it's sure to be a girl....

We tried to keep DDs naps going as long as we could, for a rest for us as well as her! Will your DS go to his room and just rest or play on his own quietly? If he will, its worth it just so you can get a rest. With DD she would always go to her room, and sometimes would sleep, sometimes just chat and play with her babies. We managed to keep this going til she was 3.6. She started resisting naps around 2.4 i think but with a bit of tweaking (later lunch/nap we kept naps going). Don't give up altogether yet, especially when there's a LO on its way to keep you even more busy!

Back from my scan!

The sonographer couldn't tell if it was a boy or girl. Bless her she tried really hard. But the baby wouldn't open it's legs. Apart from that the baby is healthy.

Can't help feeling disappointed and wish I could have done something to wake it up.

Oh well....not much I can do about it now.

My scan went well ladies.. But the scanner person really annoyed me... They said its MAYBE a girl MAYBE a boy! well duh!

Ladies, am very jealous to hear of people leaving work on 18th Feb... I am working up to 14th April which seems ages and ages and ages away. Probably because it is !

Sorry to hear of confusing scans Moonlit & SweetB. Must be really frustrating if you want to know. In my old area (Coventry) they refused to tell you the sex !! Mind you they only did 12 week scans as well, which was very annoying.

I have just returned to an empty house (bliss !) due to school pick up, having been fitted with my SPD support belt. Feel a bit like a weight lifter but it is helping a bit which is good.

Moonlit my LO was moving around too much apparently!

I know what you mean though.. wish I could have donw something.

That's so funny! That's exactly what my sonographer said. So rather than give that stupid explanation to family and friends, I have decided to go with she couldn't tell.

Why do they say such stupid things! It would be just better for them to say, 'I can't tell'.
