Hi had my scan today and its a GIRL, we are so pleased, tried to explain to DS but dont think he undersands!

JennstarOfWonder · 02/01/2009 22:05

I've got internet again! Had a very grumpy Christmas and new year. Worked a 2 hour rota on Boxing day and then have worked a skeleton staff due to sickness since then. It feels like everybody else has been off work for weeks. Anyway, at least I'm still being paid...for a few more months at least. On the bright side, the house move went well and we are all healthyish.

FiKelly · 02/01/2009 22:18

hi everyone just a quick post to wish you a very happy new year.

great to hear everyone's scan news too

I've not been on recently as just as ds and i were recovering from our pre xmas christmas coughs etc. dh came down with it too. unfortunately i then got a 2nd bout which is nastier than the 1st. the kind that hits you full force and knocks you out. high temp the whole works. doc eventually gave in and gave me anti-biotics as it had gone into my chest. today is first day i've managed to eat small amount but i'm carrying a sick bowl everywhere i go and peeing myself when i have a bad coughing fit made it out of bed for a while today and poor ds seems to have started a second dose too as his temp was just over 101 at bed time and his appetite has gone. sorry for the long me post but reading about everyone's scans etc really cheered me up

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Anyone else feeling in a foul mood a lot ? Just can't seem to shake it now for the last few weeks, and I have been away from my miserable boss too! I'm wondering if I am actually stressed about not having had an amnio with our high risk bloods. Have anomaly scan on wednesday so I guess that might put my mind at rest (or not). It is just tedious to feel grumpy the whole time, and I imagine not much fun for DH..

MsG · 03/01/2009 13:16

Hi, happy new year everyone! I'm a Capricorn too! Birthday's in just under 2 weeks.

I'm not in a great mood either - my scan is next Friday and I think I'm fretting about that a lot. x

whatsinanameforme · 03/01/2009 13:34

Afternoon girls,

Im all excited today, everything seems to be going right for a change!

We took our dd to met her new CM this morning, and she loved it there, we actually had to drag her away, am so relieved.

My DP has going into full blown baby mode now, he went to Plymouth Toys R Us and has come back with moses basket, bedding, bath, etc etc, was such a nice surprise! its all gorgeous stuff would definatley recommend the I Love My Bear collection at Babies R Us, better than anything I've seen elsewhere!

Am getting excited too about scan, its thursday, but not til 4.30pm so will eb spending all day in a different world me thinks, we still ahev decided whether we want to know or not, we did with DD, but something in the back of my mind is telling me to wait and see this time round, help!!!

Sorry to read so many are poorly, calpol seems like magic dust over here, works a treat on DD, although it does make her very sleepy!

Take Care Bumps!
Nikkie

pulapula · 03/01/2009 14:41

Hello all,

After thinking we'd all avoided the bugs going round, poor DS is really suffering- greeny brown snot streaming out of his nose, drool everywhere as he is also cutting 2 incisors . He was up from 11-2 in the night, and is catching up on sleep today (thankfully).

DD has gone to her first panto with her granny, cousin and aunty so hope she enjoys it.

Scan at 9.20 on Tuesday- really excited and definitely want to know the sex so hope we get a proper look!

SweetBROODY · 03/01/2009 14:59

Happy new year xxxx

MumofBaby · 03/01/2009 17:51

Hello yummy mummies,

I had my baby May 2008, and just wanted to say Congratulations, good luck and most of all- it's the best month to have a baby!!!

1stMrsF · 03/01/2009 19:37

MumofBaby what a nice post! Thank you very much.

Momino · 03/01/2009 22:01

evening all. just skimmed the posts I've missed so Happy Birthday to some of you and Happy New Year to all.

Still feeling rotten and think I've got a 2nd time around bug, it's really hit me and i have no energy. it sounds like a lot of us here have it so hope you're all better.

baby seems to be moving now quite often which is a relief after going through flu/fever,etc.

anyone tired (already) of maternity jeans? The ones from topshop which seemed to fit ok now fall down at the waist so permanent builder's crack which is hard to deal with when picking up two toddlers often. i guess jeans do stretch. and i can't wear a belt as it's so uncomfortable and cuts into bump when I sit or bend down. anyone with the same problem?

i think the solution is to get a bunch of tops that are very long so no one sees my waistline.

hope all are well tonight.

JennstarOfWonder · 03/01/2009 22:11

2 nights now of no bf so that's it. I'm hanging up my nursing bra... for 4 months at least.

Started wearing my maternity jeans yesterday and have to wear a belt with them Momino.

detsy · 03/01/2009 22:57

Hi Momino - have exactly the same problem. Have to wear a belt but yes it cuts in when sitting down. The over the bump ones are better but I find myself hoicking those up under my boobs all day long instead. Guess its just one of those niggles and the long tops are the best suggestion

detsy · 03/01/2009 23:00

As soon as I'm home for the evening its off with anything restrictive and on with oh so comfy pjs - went out for dinner with a g/f last night and so wanted to go out to the posh restaurant in my comfy jamas...

llareggub · 03/01/2009 23:06

None of my maternity jeans are any good. They all fall down. My best buy are my maternity leggings, I've worn them to death and might have to invest in another pair!

CoteDAzur · 04/01/2009 07:29

Momino - I think you (and I) are at that stage where "over the bump" pants are more comfortable.

I have these black trousers that roll over the bump and have been wearing them pretty much every day. Super comfortable. I heartily recommend getting one pair of very comfy black or brown trousers that you can wear with everything.

EmmalinaC · 04/01/2009 09:54

Morning all

Momino someone gave me two of these

www.bumpband.co.uk/

They're FAB - they hold your trousers up, keep your belly warm and supported and prevent any unsightly flashes of flesh!

Momino · 04/01/2009 11:32

Thanks all for your advice on the jeans. I'm going to invest now in a pair of over-the-bump trousers or jeans before time goes on.
Emmalina, I've just had a look at the bumpband and very interested. This looks exactly what I need and might get a black one.

Hope you're all well today.

I'm actually feeling a bit better today - I can't wait to feel 'normal' again, too much coughing, headache, etc. I don't even feel pregnant anymore as this cold/flu has taken over!

Momino · 04/01/2009 12:56

a slightly embarrassing bit of info - i've had sharp, shooting pain in one of my nipples. Anyone know if this is normal? is it just breast changes? just been happening for a couple of days and not too painful, very fleeting.

runningmonkey · 04/01/2009 13:06

Hi All,

happy New Year, I am getting v excited about the forthcoming year... probably just cos I worked out I have about 15 weeks of work left including 3 weeks of school hols

Pula Which centerparcs are you going to? We're going to Thetford on 24th April!! We go every year with our mates and its DHs birthday and I finish work that day. Am looking forward to floating in the pool and not much else!

spangle thanks for the link to the yoga DVD, was thinking about getting one to try and do at home now I've got a bit more energy.

Emmalina thanks for the bumpband link, think I'm going to get one as I'm having the same prob with trousers.

I did get a couple of pairs of trousers from vertbaudet which have a big stretchy band which is comfy but the jeans are way too long depsite being apparently short (29in) lenght!! I also a cheapo pair of jeans from mothercare but I would say don't bother as I you either have to wear them so low they give you builders bum or hoik em right up which alos makes your bum look ridiculous, the 'comfy' elastic bit at the front is too tight!

runningmonkey · 04/01/2009 13:08

momino I've been getting that on and off from the beginning - mw said it was normal! I find its worse if I go out in the cold.

Oh also, meant to share - the mat clothes in debenhams are all either 50 or 70% off at the moment. I got a nice purple coat for £27 (reduced from £55) yesterday. There are some nice cardies and dresses also there.

Momino · 04/01/2009 13:18

thanks runningmonkey. will check out Debs for the sales as well. Hope there are things left!

MsG · 04/01/2009 14:45

Hi all. I've got a bump band too - I bought two black ones for a tenner from ebay - they are great! My Next maternity jeans are over the bump but kept falling down a bit, and the band really keeps them in place and feels comfortable on my stomach. Would definitely recommend it.
