Morning ladies.

I'm enjoying my last few days of freedom before going back to work. Feeling really lazy tho and feeling fat . All the adverts on the tv are about losing weight and fitness videos. I haven't put on too much weight so far, at least I don't think so? 11lbs and I'm 22+6. How much has everyone else put on?

There is way too much chocolate in this house! I don't normally eat it but at the moment I seem to be stuffing my face. Ooopps.

My DH says he's going on the wagon during the week - about time really I can't remember the last day he didn't have at least a few glasses of wine. We're both thinking of starting swimming a couple of nights a week - try to get a bit fitter.

SpangleMaker · 02/01/2009 10:25

Looby I've put on 10lb and I'm 22+5. I made a chart when I was in a super-nerdy mood a couple of months ago from a website where you can get a personalised weight gain chart (from starting weight and height or BMI iirc). Just checked & a gain 10lb is bang on normal for me - am 5ft1 and started off ever so slightly overweight. I'll have a look and see if I can find the link later on.

I think I look properly pregnant now and am beginning to feel it. Is anyone else starting to get a little uncomfortable in bed? It's possible I've been spending too long in there over the holidays and not moving around enough in the day but my lower back is quite achy by morning. I'm thinking of getting one of those long pillows. Has anyone here tried them? Are they any good?

SpangleMaker · 02/01/2009 10:38

In other news, we did a plan for the baby's room last night - well, I had to grump DH into doing it as he's the designer but he hasn't been very enthusiastic, think he's still sulking a bit about losing the space. Good news is, IF we manage to sort through all our crap it looks as if we'll have a fair amount of storage for baby things and room to set up a train set on the floor in years to come - DH's priority!

whatsinanameforme · 02/01/2009 10:39

Hi Ladies,

Am chilling with DD today, still in our pj's! Oh this is the life! Except we've both got the 'bug' thats going round so we're both coughing away, although I don't think its fair that she keeps telling me off for talking funny!

You'll have to excuse me, but I am rubbish at maths and conversions so spangle can you help me work out how much lbs work out on a set of scales, I just weigh myself in Stones but have no idea what the lines in between are!lol! Oh dear your all going to think Im thick as!lol! I started off at 8 and a half stone and now I am 9 stone at 20 weeks so have put on 1/2 stone, how many pounds is that ??

Right, am being hounded for a 'steven' , thats a cheesestring to you and me! Will catch up later on!

Nikkie

llareggub · 02/01/2009 10:53

I went back to the ante-natal assessment unit this morning for a blood pressure check and blood results after the scary mention of pre-ecplamsia on Wednesday. Thankfully my BP was normal and the blood results fine.

I had a brief chat with the midwife who confirmed my suspicions about my high blood pressure. I have large arms (OK fat) and normally use a large cuff when taking BP readings. On Wednesday there were 3 people chatting to me about my gestational diabetes so I forgot to mention the need for a large cuff. So that's fine then, although I can't understand why they didn't take one large at my bingo wings and realise!

Still, I'm very relieved I'm OK. I might pop into town later and see if I can find some nice blue things for my blue bump.

Hope everyone is well.

llareggub · 02/01/2009 10:54

whatsinanameforme....there are 14 pounds in a stone.

I think I've lost weight but am overweight and following a restrictive diet due to gestational diabetes. My bump is huge, far bigger than I was with DS at 21 weeks.

SweetBROODY · 02/01/2009 12:31

and here was me worried that I hadnt put on any weight at 19 weeks... hey ladies hope you had a fab holiday and a Happy New YEar to you all.. you all seem to be coming along nicely at the moment!

Spangle would be very interested in that chart if you find it...

llareggub glad to see your coping fine with the GD.. it has taken me AGES To catch up - but tis so lovely to see everyones news.. i have my 20 week scan next week which I look forward to.. and in general good health apart from the heart burn and vomiting which is still there in the evenings :S why didnt anyone tell me before i went up the "duff" as my DH kindly puts it! LOL

And I cant stop worrying about baby so have won a bid on Ebay for a Angel sounds machine thingy.. will cost me 24 quid.. cant wrong right!

EmmalinaC · 02/01/2009 12:44

Hello all

Hope you've fully recovered from NYE celebrations. I had one glass of champagne and had to go to bed. At 10pm. Got up for midnight but was in a proper grump!

With regard to weight, I'm 22+4 and have put on about 10lbs. Considering the amount of mince pies and chocolate I have eaten I'm surprised it's not a lot more! My bump is huge though - in fact last week one of my relatives said 'oooh not long now dear' and I had to say 'er, actually it's not due 'til May...'

Haven't been exercising at all but have signed up for a pregnancy yoga course starting nect week - which I hope will involve lots of lying around beanbags and not really any exercise at all!

Got friends coming for lunch to day so I must go and make a salad. See you later! x

SweetBROODY · 02/01/2009 14:20

NYE was a bit of a non-event for me... It was also my birthday and just feel so old.. wasnt even thinking of my b'day this year though - I feel like I have a more important date i'm looking forward to

SweetBROODY · 02/01/2009 14:23

Dandy are you joining a class or do you have a home dvd yoga class?

EmmalinaC · 02/01/2009 16:38

Belated Happy Birthday SweetBROODY!

SpangleMaker · 02/01/2009 16:52

Happy belated birthday SweetBroody Llarregub glad your bp was normal. I consciously try to chill out when I have mine done as I'm sure worrying about it sends it up a few points.

Here is a weight gain calculator - not the one I used (can't find that unfortunately) but same information. I think it's important not to get hung up on weight but I just wanted to get an idea so I don't (a) freak out at the scales or (b) pile on the weight willy nilly without thinking.

SweetBROODY · 02/01/2009 17:02

Thank you guys just feel OLD didnt even celebrate DH said he would pay for a 3D scan in Feb for me though - which seems like a good present to me thank you spangle

That was useful. It says I have gained less then normal but not by much - so I am less worried now!

Dandy its worth it to be a Capricorn though lol

Thats really good - I cant seem to find a class that will fit around work - I already have a hard time fitting in all my doctors appointments.. and the classes seem expenisive.. the cheapest I found was £10 a class...? I was just looking on Amazon and may order 2 of the DVD's I've seen they seem to be highly reccomended.

Happy Birthday to you to Dandy when was yours?

pulapula · 02/01/2009 17:36

i'm another Capricorn too- 10 Jan (i'll be 37 and starting to feel old too).

I feel sorry for my DD who was born 27 Dec (although could have been worse as my contractions started on christmas day). My brothers birthday was NYE and my sisters is today, so lots of capricorns!

SpangleMaker · 02/01/2009 17:46

I've got this yoga DVD and have found it quite good - must get off my arse and start doing it again

SweetBROODY · 02/01/2009 17:59

Thats the one I'm going to try and get! do you think its good Spangle?

I suppose its cheaper then a class at £10 a class!

SpangleMaker · 02/01/2009 18:15

Yes, there are 3 workouts depending on how you're feeling/how used to yoga you are. Think I did the intermediate one and found it quite good, like a yoga class only adapted for pregnancy (no lying on the front or back, no intense twists).

Probably better if you have done yoga before - not because the poses are difficult, but due to the fact its a no-frills production - eg no background music - it's better for people who just want to concentrate on the poses/breathing. I've done a lot of yoga classes over the years so I prefer this approach but if you want to be introduced to yoga with full explanations, atmospheric music etc there may be better DVDs.

SweetBROODY · 02/01/2009 18:25

No it sounds good - thats what the reviews said as well.. probably exactly the kind of thing I was after...

Thank you

I think i will order it!

Reggiee · 02/01/2009 19:19

Another Capricorn here (old goat ) birthday in a week. DD was 2 on NYE but didn't do too much.
Sweetbroody how was your birthday celebrated as a child / teenager? I really have no idea what to do when she gets older.

Think this one will be a Taurus, and if so, think they re supposed to get on well with Capricorns.

All this talk about exercise - I really must do something. Have put on c 4lb since pre pg at the moment, but lost loads with ms early on.

pulapula · 02/01/2009 19:40

Think my LO will be Taurus too (elective cs will be 19 May i think).

I've just booked our last hol before LO arrives (and probably our only holiday in 2009!) 4 nights in Centerparcs, 20-24 April. I will be pretty massive by then I guess (35 weeks) but we thought we might as well wait til i was on maternity leave so i dont need to use up any A/L.
