That's ok - I may not have a lot of experience in babies but I'm quite good at a sneaky hug!

Am sure expressing will help. Don't know if it takes a while to get going with expressing but - again - go easy on yourself!

I've been to Dr surgery for thyroid blood test this morning. Felt like cancelling as I wasn't able to take my thyroxine properly last week when I was ill and kept throwing up so my levels are probably way out. I see the consultant on 30th Dec for results and will probably have to explain why they're so bad and then feel like I've wasted their time. If I didn't do the blood test today though they probably wouldn't have had any results for 30th Dec at all! I'll just have to go with it...

Right, I'm going to go for a late morning shower now. Catch you later!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 16/12/2008 11:28

right i'm off to collect DS from nursery, will be back after lunch, but kay- if you need to chat you have my number!!

Thanks everyone. You rock!!!

I have got a sling, I haven't used it yet. Will have to watch the dvd that came with it and then start using it.

I feel better now I have talked about it.

Hello all
Haven't had time to catch up properly but just wanted to pop in and say scan went brilliantly. Measuring 8+4, which is a few days ahead of what I thought according to when I think I ovulated, so new due date is 24 July. Sonographer said that at this size risk of miscarriage is only 2% Heartbeat is 177. DH looked so thrilled, it was so wonderful!

And best news...because I'm measuring slightly ahead, the doctor said it was best to move my scan date up a bit because it would be borderline too late. They gave me a new scan date of 9 January! It was supposed to be 22 Jan, so nearly 2 weeks earlier now! So excited!

Sorry for the me me me post, but just can't really contain myself!

SesHasnearlyreachedhalfway · 16/12/2008 11:55

YAY LBOT!!!!!!!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 16/12/2008 12:22

GYo- talking of hormones.... this morning i had a massive case of pregnancy brain...

was on the way to nursery with DS first thing, was about a minute up the rd when i stepped in a tiny puddle and i felt a bit of wetness on my sock- looked down thinking 'my trainers can't be broken can they?' only to find i was still wearing my slippers!! Made a swift turn around and came and got my trainers on!!

lastboxoftampons · 16/12/2008 12:22

Aw, thanks guys!

GYO - we did get a picture. Not a great one, but we were still thankful because when the nurse was in the room, the sonographer said they didn't do them in the EPU. I thought that was strange because someone gave me one last time. But when the nurse left, he said he's not supposed to, but he did anyway

It seems so big compared to last time! I did get worried at first because I couldnt' see the heartbeat, but then he pointed it out to us. He was really great actually, joking with DH and showing him all the bits and pieces - although, not sure how I feel about two men bonding over MY anatomy!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 16/12/2008 12:27

LOL Glask.... thats very pregnancy brain related... so easy to do though. My brain is mush these days. Have lists everywhere...

Lovely to get a picture LBOT... not sure if it is the norm for early scans... they gave me one when I had a reassurance at 8wks but we didnt think to ask, we'd left the room (in shock that there was a beany in there!) and the lady came out behind us and handed it to us... was lovely...

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 16/12/2008 12:35

i have lists all over atm too GYo- DH said i should make a list to keep all my lists organised too!!

Phew... sounded nasty!

sorkycake · 16/12/2008 12:56

Aw Kay, where do we start sweetie?

Right, my first gap was exactly 20 months too. There is no getting away from the fact that it is going to be hard and you will likely feel rather torn for the first 6 months or so. Once the LO hits about a year it becomes a doddle, do bear that in mind. Guilt in the mean time comes with the territory. Dd1 still manages to make us feel guilty over the fact she has siblings!
He will not hate you, just likely feels a bit confused about his role, where he fits etc at the moment. I think it was about this time we referred to Dd1 as "our special princess", which always got a cheeky grin out of her.

Is your Dh off at present? If he is he needs to take the lions share of the care of your Ds1 and the house. We found that Dd was easier to cope with if Dh took her out to visit people, swim, go to the park everyday (he was off for a fortnight I think).
Once you get to 2 weeks the baby will start to sleep a bit more regularly and feed more predictably, thus allowing you to either put him down or keep him in the sling and play with Ds1.
After 2 weeks your milk will also be pretty much established and I personally wouldn't express until then, simply because he will feed when he needs to in the first 2 weeks to stimulate the supply he requires iyswim.
I do understand this is almost constantly.

Once Christmas is here things will be much easier, the baby will be getting used to life outside the womb, feeding and sleep will start to sort themselves and Ds1 will be the centre of attention again.

Don't forget once fed your Dh could also carry the baby in the sling (mine did) which afforded some time for me to be with Dd1. That time was spent with her sitting on the bench helping me prepare tea, but it was mummy-time all the same.

The best sling I found was a coorie for newborn b'feeding, I got mine from Brightspark slings. It was the only one I could b'feed in and do something else at the same time.

The baby blues are well and truly with you it sounds it to will pass by the end of the week.

HV are simply not to be trusted at all. Don't listen to her and her feckin' charts. He was a whopper when born, he will lose weight, but as long as he is feeding he'll be fine.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 16/12/2008 12:56

yeah- i felt scared to leave my house!!! Now i'm scared to leave as i'm the baddy thats made them get a rollocking!!

LBOT

I can't tell you how happy I am with your news. Please feel free to add yourself officially to the list, with all the dates etc. You've OFFICIALLY graduated now!

Right having spent 3 hours doing Maths we're now onto reading, but I'll try and sneakily 'refresh'. Oh and I really need to Vertbaudet shop don't I....that's if you 2 have left anything!!!!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 16/12/2008 13:09

oh Sorky & GYo- and anyone else thats interested... i got a code for verbaudet that gives £5 off and free p&p, no minimum spend, so i've got a 2 pack of baby socks coming to me for free!!

the code is 2714 and can only be used once.

OP posts:
sorkycake · 16/12/2008 13:09

What is the code for the £15 off if £20 spend Glask?

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 16/12/2008 13:12

erm.... there's about 15 of them... 2788 2797 2803 2809 2751 2784 2744 2818 2827 2833 0998 2792 1039 3036 4017

some might not include free p&p any more... and i dont know how many times they can each be used, have only placed on order so far, the other orders will be placed on friday, payday!!

OP posts:
glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 16/12/2008 13:19

when tink is back on she will know which can be used again and again... i think some people said they'd made 25 orders or something stupid so some must be able to be used more than just once... depends how rich you are, or how much you decide you like (like me!!)

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 16/12/2008 13:20

Still nothing from Diege... does anyone have her contact in RL?
