wow sorky i'm getting exited now!!!! just let me know roughly what you have etc, what you want for it, maybe a handful of pics just so i can have a peek and that'd be fine for me...

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 15/12/2008 17:19

thanks for the re-assurance re first time pains Sorky...

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 15/12/2008 17:27

sorry GYo- i was also going to say i never felt a thing with DS either... then with DD i felt them, and they hurt like hell!! I do wish someone had warned me about them before i fell pg

OP posts:
GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 15/12/2008 17:31

Thanks Glask!
Really weird how it seems worse after first one... doesnt make sense really - I'd have guessed it would be worse first time then improve...

sorkycake · 15/12/2008 17:34

Oh God what have I done.....I've posted on the baby names topic.

I said I never ever would but curiosity has got the better of me. If you go over there please be kind

kayzr · 15/12/2008 17:37

Does anyone know how to wake a sleepy jaunice baby to be fed?

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 15/12/2008 17:41

haha kay- sorry but that made me remember trying the same thing with dd- i tried prising her lips open and stuffing my nipple in but it failed and i just had to wait till she woke up.

OP posts:
sorkycake · 15/12/2008 17:45

how long has he been asleep? If it's more than 3 hours then you could blow on is face or start undressing him, they often wake up then.

kayzr · 15/12/2008 17:49

Its been about 3 hours. He has just woken up and is now feeding again.
The MW says he should be better when my milk comes in.

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 15/12/2008 17:52

sorky- on 'threads i'm on' i read the first line of your post as 'blow on his face or fart'....

Good he's woken up again kay... i'm actually shocked at how little he's feeding, DD was feeding constantly for the first week and all my MW's kept saying 'he's a big boy he needs it' poor thing was only 8lb8... made me think bigger babies = bigger appetite

OP posts:
glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 15/12/2008 17:54

right i'm off to collect a little bundle of baby girls shoes i won on ebay last night... won them for only £2!! and there are some beautiful shoes, and a pair of adidas trainers... not that i'd buy them normally but the bundles i bought included some jeans that the trainers will look fab with!!

might not be back till tomorrow now as we'll be doing bedtime then getting curry after that!!

Evening!

I feel like I've missed a load again today!

First day back at work after 'flu and feel like I missed loads there whilst I was off too but it did make me realise that I was really ill last week as it feels like I've just lost an entire week of my life!

Kay - sorry for pains I think Sorky's advice re taking pain relief 15-20 mins before feeding is good. Also re co-codamol, the "official" line is that the codeine only gets into the breast milk in amounts too small to be harmful so do try co-codamol if you need to.
I am still amazed at your birth story and feel really proud of you (hope that doesn't sound patronising...) Can't wait to see some piccies of DS2.
Also, if it helps, my godson was really anti his new baby brother when he was born. He would shout and throw things - especially when he was being fed. All about lack of attention and jealousy. At about 3 weeks, my friend's Dad came over and sat with the baby for an hour whilst my friend could devote an entire hour just to DS1. It seemed to help doing that once a week. 6 months on, he absolutely dotes on his younger brother and is v good with him.
As an aside, that first hour he had with his Mum, she asked him what he wanted to do (thinking he'd say go to the park or play football). He said "I want to go to the supermarket". Her heart sank but it transpired there's a cafe at the supermarket right by the train line and he wanted to go and sit there and watch the trains! How cute!

GYo - thanks for your first timer questions! I read them and made some mental notes! Am also v of your mat leave pay. Boots is generally a v good company to work for but when it comes to maternity pay, we just get the minimum so I get 90% of my weekly pay for the first 6 weeks and then the SMP for the rest of the time. We're really going to have to reconsider our spending but I guess that'll be all part of the change in lifestyle. I suppose I should be grateful that I'll still get my generous staff discount which will be v v useful!!

LBOT - thinking of you for tomorrow and hope they don't keep you waiting too long.

I've done a really long post now and not remembered to say everything I wanted to so hi to everyone else!

Playingthe9monthwait · 15/12/2008 18:01

Hi all,

Missed most of the chat today as I am manic at work right now, so only very quickly skim read.

Kay - so nice to hear you and DS are ok, I am amazed you are doing so well so quickly especially having had a 10lb + baby with very little pain relief!

GYo - 9 mnths paid mat leave!! Actually I have a friend who would get that at work, she also works in consultancy.

I get nothing other than stat min. Then again as I have no intention of coming back full time (or at all depending on how it goes) then at least I won't have to end up paying it back if I don't come back to work. I must admit I do fancy being a SAHM for a while and having a bit of a career break but I reserve the right to completely change my mind once Fraggle arrives!

I can't wait for mat leave right now! December and Jan are my busiest months so not only am I run of my feet with my work I am also having to teach my replacement my job whilst actually trying to work out what exactly my role actually is!!

Right I have to go home now, catch up properly tomorrow.

SesHasnearlyreachedhalfway · 15/12/2008 18:12

Hi Playing! I'm with you on wanting to be a SAHM. Will need to go back to help pay the mortgage though. Hoepfully I'll be able to go back just 3 or 4 days a week.

GruffaloSoldier · 15/12/2008 19:08

Hello everyone, just caught up and excited by maternity leave talk

I actually told the Dad i nanny for when I will be going on maternity leave today which is a coincidence! Am so excited! I only work 3 fixed days a week but still going to be fab. I am self employed so will get 39 weeks at £117 or something. Im not sure if I will have that long off as when I go back to work it will only be for a few hours per day over 2/3 days and the baby will come with me so sort of will be SAHM and wont have to worry about childcare which is great. I plan to do more hours nannying when child is 12-18 months old.

I am so tired tonight - am getting loads of back, hip and bum cheek pains now waking up in the night in agony too. Grrr!

LaSparklyTourEiffel · 15/12/2008 19:41

Ummmm....last time Diege posted was Friday when she was about to get in the bath...anyone heard from her since then?

Nurse says wound isn't infected but I wasn't convinced, so she got the doc in for a second opinion , he wrote me a prescription that I can get fulfilled if it gets worse over the next few days . I can't explain the pain, its just kind of hot and burny and all the skin is really sensitive for about an inch square around the wound. The doctor said that it was because nerves would be sensitive after the op but I never had this last time I had a laparascopy wound in the same place. Its bloody sore

I didn't really notice after pains the first time, I'd not heard they get worse but then, there's a lot they don't tell you about pregnancy!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 15/12/2008 19:59

Hi Latour- good point re Diege. Did she post after the birth excitement on Friday? or was it before?

Hi Gruff and Ses- glad you've added your mat leave list....

Evening PLaying... hope not missed anyone....

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 15/12/2008 20:02
