well they had the plain sugar ones and a funny one with brown icing that was probably meant to be chocolate but i doubt it was - but no jammy ones (and especially no jammy ones with the pink sticky icing which are reeeeaalllly delicious)

SpringySunshine · 26/11/2008 15:10

I love being pregnant - when else is it okay to fantasise this much about junk food?

KittyCat8 · 26/11/2008 16:08

oooh now I'm hungry... gonna ask DH to stop past the shops on the way home and satisfy my doughnut craving! Thanks for the tip ladies!

(NOT that we need any encouragement, hey??? )

DungunGirl · 26/11/2008 16:26

With all this talk to cakes and donuts...

You lovely ladies might be interested in a little cupcake event at the Anova Bookshop in Kensington Church Street tomorrow from 5pm.

If anyone lives in London and passes by that area....they are doing free cupcakes from 5pm onwards! I think it will be for as long as stock lasts though as they will all be home baked.

It is an independant publisher's bookshop - so you can do a spot of Christmas shopping while you are there! That is the point of the cupcake evening! Much while you shop!

BoffinMum · 26/11/2008 16:33

Hello folks. Come home from work early because of poor mobility today - I say home, but I can't actually get there because it's too far, so staying at a friend's place tonight. Consoling myself with Lebkuchen and tea. Really had enough of being pregnant now.

Afternoon all!

Oh Boffinmum poor you!

Springy, you have so much food in your house!!! I want to come and live with you!!!

Had such a scare this morning, had a nightmare trip to the train station and ended up having to return home and power walk to the station where about half way through I got the most horrendous pains in my stomach - was petrified, especially as it felt like I had started bleeding (which I hadn't just a beautiful amount of discharge (sorry if TMI). but I have never been so scared and it was a link between not wanting to miss my train and wanting to stop and cry!

But anyway all is fine, the baby was incredibly quiet for a few hours but has been kicking away this afternoon.

Phew...

BoffinMum · 26/11/2008 16:58

Yes, I have been having pains in my belly too BabyBolat. It kept me awake half the night. I vaguely remember this happening before at this stage.

It was hideous but went just as quickly as it came!

SpringySunshine · 26/11/2008 17:26

I wish I lived in London too! Free cake is almost worth the cost of renting there. Almost. Where do you all live? I was wondering this earlier - I think I've said a few times that I'm a Brummie now living in Sheffield. & yet am mostly managing to avoid any kind of strong accent.

BB, I have to have loads of food in the house all of the time, because DP eats like a horse. For example, last night we had a huge pasta dinner, then he got up & fetched himself a cupcake, 3 doughnuts & a packet of crisps. Then sat & ate them all & went for another load, but I told him to stop being greedy. He's not even got a slight belly, either. Bastard.

Sorry that you had a scare - very glad that it's all passed now. Must've been awful though!

BoffinMum, hope you're okay & not in too much pain. & I hope that you friend's looking after you.

SalBySea · 26/11/2008 17:34

hello

I was just wondering, might be a bit cheeky, but how much weight have you guys gained so far? I weighed myself yesterday and was shocked to find that I weigh exactly what I weighed before I got pregnant, so if you take away any weight I'm carrying in my bump, that means I've actually LOST weight

I have my scan next week but cannot get a MW apt to follow it up as they are completely booked up so wont get to raise the weight issue with her. (I also still havent been told the results of my blood tests - lab rejected 12 week ones because the form wasnt filled in right, MW didnt tell me so till 16 week apt so had them redone at 17 weeks but dont know if anyone's looked at the results yet - I feel like I'm slipping through the net somewhat!)

I've effectively lost weight, too. I'm still being sick 4+ times a week & was absolutely awful for a couple of months, so I think that's why. I'm expecting to pile it all back on very soon, though.

& MAKE them give you a MW appointment! Or phone your midwife yourself & ask if she can fit you in at some point, instead of going through a receptionist or whatever? Or at very least discuss your concerns over the phone with you?

I'm not being sick - I thought I was being a lazy porker and had prepared myself for a big number when I stood on the scales. I even re-balanced the scales to check if it was right.

LuLuBai · 26/11/2008 18:18

Oooh SalBySea I cannot stand on the scales. Don't make me do it! I reckon I am somewhere in line with NuttyTaff but I can't face learning the truth just yet. I gained 4 stone with DD and still had nearly a stone to lose when I got pg again.

Anyway went undie shopping. Not wildly successful. The changing room only had a curtain and DD kept racing out towards the main door forcing me to chase her semi dressed through the shop. They only had one Hotmilk bra in stock (not the one I had my eye on). Ended up with a plain cotton one. Not at all va va voom or Fembot-with-bump but extremely comfortable. Ah well. Will be needing another bra or two before this is all over so still time to find something more ahem aluring.

How are you doing Boffinmum? Really feel for you. Must be grim. I put my back out when I was pg with DD but luckily was 2 days before Christmas so didn't have to take time off work and was able to just sit through all the festivities with people waiting on me hand and foot "Mmmm - another slice of Stollen? Don't mind if I do!"

LuLuBai · 26/11/2008 18:19

(errr - that extra Stollen and immobility may go some way in explaining my 4 stone gain! No such excuse this time)

OddEyes · 26/11/2008 19:04

Hurray! Good news is that it wasn't him, he out consoling his friends at pub though so all bitter sweet. That was all slightly scary - the prospect of neither of us working by March with new lo.
SalBySea - glad your back have been worrying about a few of us recently. really don't worry about weight just yet, good plan to highlight your concern to midwife though as if it continues then you've already been seen and had written in your notes. Ours do a drop in session that they keep secret.weight link surprised at how little we are expected to gain i think i have gained far too much, happily the scales don't work
Springy - i am in North London
where is everyone else on the list - if your lurking post and tell us how you are doing!

OddEyes, I am so relieved for you. 6 people got made redundant today at DH's place of work. Apparent that is the full extent of the cull thank heavens. Poor colleagues though. Right before Christmas.

LuLuBai · 26/11/2008 19:25

Phew Oddeyes. Must have been nerve-wracking. Friend of ours lost his job the other day with DC3 due in 2 weeks. It is very worrying at the mo.

I'm in deepest darkest South West London. A little bit too far out to make it to DunGunGirl's cupcake event. Well I can't go anywhere at 5pm anyway as it's DDs supper time.

Swaliswan · 26/11/2008 19:29

All was well with the CM earlier - nothing to worry about.

I put on about 3.5 stone with DD but was told that this was a perfectly acceptable amount of weight to put on. Apparently they don't worry unless you put on more than 4 stone if you were normal weight beforehand.

LuLuBai · 26/11/2008 19:31

Gulp - so I was just on the borderline of putting on too much weight then.

Better watch it this time!
