yup my philosophy is to worry about it later when you will be spending time running after los - eg once they are on the move - it will all come off again at some point.

Mind you - i did the london marathon the april after having ds - dont think i will be doing the same this time - maybe a 10k.

springy - i'm between glasgow and stirling. but trying to sell and have been since May - oh well here for a while.

oddeyes- i wouldnt be surprised if those not posting just now are quite overwhelmed by the amount of posts - its been a very chatty week - cant believe we are over 200 already on this thread - so probably some people just dont have time to catch up - but if anyone is reading - we dont expect you to we've been talking a fair amount of nonsense, so just come on anyway and update us.

lol nuttytaff - but i really believe that anyone can do it - getting up from nothing to running 20 minutes really is the second hardest bit. From there to about 2/3 hours is easy - just a case of building up time slowly.

Over 3 hours is then the hardest bit - but honestly -unless you have bad knees etc, with a training plan that you stick to - you can do it.

PuzzleRocks · 26/11/2008 20:18

I've put on 9 pounds. Am rather hoping not to gain 4.5 stone as I did with DD. Maybe I wont have cheesecake after supper every night this time.

Oddeyes - I often wonder where the others are too. I might put a call out in chat.

About 11 pounds...but I also believe scales are work of the devil I only checked because I hadn't put anything on in first 18 weeks or so...

Small rant please ladies if you don;t mind..

Was supposed to be going out for drinks (HAH!) tonight with a few friends but SO snowed under with work I can't go.

Getting a cold and DH and DD at each others' throats. Yuck.

Rant over )

BabyBolat · 26/11/2008 20:33

Evening all

I got really paranoid that I had put so much on (am around the lulu mark but refuse to write it as DH is looking over my shoulder) but was a bit of a health freak (although not skinny freak) before (did swimming and weight training alternate days a week - and have since been told by my doctor I am not allowed to do it now because of the strain on the baby). But then I chatted it through with the doctor and the internet (my friend) and it was all normal. I agree with conker now - just going to give my body what it wants and then deal with it all after - I can still get my jeans up from before pregnancy but just cant do them over my belly so not too worried but it did seem a lot at first! If you are worried about not putting too much on just chat to your MW, they can recommend food to help if you need more!

As for the scales, I did it once and got so worked up about it all that I remove to do it again - I don't need to know! Especially after the mouse was found in the Christmas chocolates again tonight!!!

Springy, I was born and raised in a little village just by Salisbury in Wiltshire, I now work too many hours a day in central London (holborn) and live in Hampshire on the south coast, in Southsea near to Portsmouth and Chichester. It's not my preferred location, would like to move back closer to home, (had originally planned to do it this year but probably will be more around the time this LO is 2 years old) but for commuting purposes to London, it makes more sense to be here for a while!

Conkertree, I would love to do the marathon, has always been something I wanted to do but have never had the discipline to actually sign up for it!

and they say that once you have had children, you tend to be better at running (obviously with excpetions for the Paula Radcliffes of this world who have always been good at it) - might be that once you have gone through labour, you know you can endure something like a marathon - or maybe its just a great excuse to get out of the house regularly by yourself when you go on training runs.

we had a running buggy with ds - but with two that wont be practical -so am very much looking forward to getting out on my own for runs.

sorry - as you can tell i get a bit obsessed (and its not like i'm really great at it - just love the excitement of race day and the feeling of achievment and the glass of wine afterwards).

I've put on about a stone so far. I won't be doing the marathon because even getting downstairs is a marathon at the moment. I will probably end up with an arse like a bus and DH feeling he has to give me pretend compliments about me having lovely eyes so I can face getting up in the morning.

I could not get up this morning because I had been through four tissues sobbing about my SPD, and I didn't want to come out of the bedroom and frighten nice colleague's children with my puffy face. I stayed in bed for a bit and nice colleague brought me a fab breakfast in bed to boost morale:

Freshly squeezed OJ
Crispy muesli with really authentic Greek yoghurt
Oven warmed pan au chocolat
Cuppa tea

I think I am on to a Very Good Thing here. I may have to marry her on the basis of this breakfast. DH texted me and pointed out however that I would probably not be able to warm my feet on her were I to do this. He is probably right, because she is very slim and feels the cold a lot. She also is not covered in lovely masculine fur like DH. Hence I may keep with DH for now but there will have to be some sort of additional clause about oven warmed pains au chocolat.

conkertree · 27/11/2008 09:44

lol boffinmum - that does sound like a lovely treat.

i'm sure you've said before but are you going to physio or anything for the spd? at least we are (mostly) on the home stretch now - less time to go than we've done.

ds was threatened with being given away to a good home last night - he's never been a great sleeper, but he seems to know the nights dh and i could really do with a proper sleep. i felt rotten with the sore throat and headache and had taken enough paracetamol during the dy so couldnt have any in the middle of the night - ds wouldnt go back to sleep when he woke at 2am so came into our bed, then insisted on eating the banana that I had beside my bed, and then insisted on lying on my neck to sleep - put my foot down and moved him and he got very cross - he's only 15 months for goodness sake - he shouldnt get to rul the roost but he does.

dh is away this weekend and i am babysitting my sisters 2ds tomorrow - not entirely sure how i will manage.

Morning Everyone

I wish I'd read your post yesterday dundungirl - I love cupcakes and would have hauled myself to Kensington without a doubt - books and cupcakes, my two favourite things...

SpringySunshine - I live in Westminster, London but we are trying to sell our (1-bedroom) flat as we might be a bit squashed once babies come. My dad suggests we buy a chest of drawers and just put one baby in each drawer... that's New Zealanders for you...

BoffinMum - hope your back is feeling better and that you got another nice breakfast this morning!

SalBySea - I lost about half a stone between 6-14 weeks due to vomiting and nausea but have now put that back on plus half a stone! So, around a stone then? I am 20 weeks today and have quite a sizeable bump.Yesterday a woman asked me when I was due and I was so excited as that means I'm past the 'is she pregnant or just a bit fat' stage...

BabyBolat - I'm so glad everything is ok -that must have beeen scary! I get pains in my tummy when I walk too much/too fast too.

I have been having very saucy dreams the past four nights in a row - do you think it's the enforced celibacy? Quite good though if you can't have the real thing...

Love Barbarella XX

PuzzleRocks · 27/11/2008 10:25

Barbarella, I tend to overexaggerate rubbing my bump when in public in case anyone thinks I have a beer belly.
Ladies - we are a fifth of the way through this thread in just three days. That means we could finish this one before I even have my scan.

OP posts:
BarbarellaNz · 27/11/2008 10:29

Ha ha ha! I always do that too - especially when in line at the supermarket for some reason...

mizzannie · 27/11/2008 10:37

hello all so we went for our scan and wanted to find out the sex but the baby didn't want us to - was curled up with head against my tummy and feet against my back and midwife couldnt take any of the measurements she needed never mind the gender question. i jumped around practically doing headstands but baby would not move. we've now got another scan just before xmas (which is nice and dh glad we get to see it again and thinks we're lucky to) but i feel a bit disappointed! we wanted to find out sooo much and it felt like a bit of an anticlimax. i know its silly to be down about it and AM glad we get another try, but still.
anyone else tried to find out gender and couldnt?
xx

Sarahmum · 27/11/2008 11:08

Mizzannie - I can understand your disappointment. I have my scan at 21 wks next Thur and really want to find out the sex.

Here's a question though... Should we take our 10 yr old DS to the scan? He is desperate to come, but I am worried that it might show a problem. Has anyone else taken kids to a scan?

Hello

Just came back from my scan. Didn't find out what we are having. DH and I had been bickering all morning about whether or not to find out, but she never asked us if we wanted to know so we didn't have to come to blows in the sonographers office after all!

Sarahmum - we took DD. She's too little to have any idea what is going on but I just wanted her to be part of it and get used to the idea of there being a baby in my tummy.

Personally would be more worried about DH's response to any potential problems. But anyway, all went well. Measurements all normal - head on the large side (oh goody!). At this stage with DD they were concerned she wasn't developing properly so it's lovely to get the all clear.

Now I would like to move in to Boffinmum's friends house. I have some greek yoghurt in my fridge, but it would be nice to have it delivered to me in bed....

BabyBolat · 27/11/2008 11:44

Sarahmum, I think it would be really nice to take him - do you have any reason to think there is a problem - Maybe you could have a chat with the mw before hand and get some sort of code - where they ask him and DH to go and get some chocolate or something just in case!

Mizannie - very frustrating for you but I would do anything to have lots more scans (free) and see the little bean again so just think of all the extra views you get! It is a shame about the measurements but my mw said they can pretty much tell if there is a problem straight away (not sure if she was just being nice to me or trying to get me to shut up as I was asking lots of questions) but that the use the measurements to reinforce it - so sure everything is fine but welcome to the world of stubborn LO's!
