err - yeah - he's stuck in some sort of 1920s name timewarp. We have a very ugly surname too, so calling a son Valeri REALLY wouldn't help. (Apparently it is a perfectly sensible name for a boy in Russia - but we aren't Russian, don't live in Russia, don't even speak Russian....)

I'm very jealous of you Springy - only halfway through pregnancy and happily agreed on a lovely name.

Most of the good names are already taken by our friends. And we have 3 more friends due to have babies before this one arrives, so can't really pick a name until they have all got theirs.

Cheers Nutty.

Let's hope I have a girl, eh! At least she wouldn't be TOTALLY ridiculed.

I'm going to drag myself up to bed now and try to read a few pages of my book before I conk out. It's due back at the library on Thursday and I'm only 1/3 of the way through so some swift reading is in order.

I laughed rather a lot at the Russian thing too I love our little April club.

It's easier for me, I think, because I'm the first out of my peers to do the whole baby thing, so I get first pick.

SpringySunshine · 25/11/2008 20:34

I'm exactly the same, Nutty. I think I'm going stir-crazy.

Sorry LuLu. No offence meant in the slightest. Enjoy your book, night night xx

Don't cry, Nutty. I think we both jammed our feet rather firmly into our mouths, but we didn't mean anything nasty by it. LuLu knows that, I'm sure.

mrsfossil · 25/11/2008 20:46

hello all like the new thread, wonder how many we will get through by april?

Had scan today, baby very active all good. Asked the sex and scan lady told us she could only be 80% sure!. She said she couldn't see any boy bits so to assume baby is a girl. But is 80% all they can guarantee. So can i buy a dress or should i still stick to safe cream, or sickly lemon? Or go and book 4d scan (which dh thinks are too expensive and unnessecary)

We also can not decide on names I really like Isla and have done for ages. My dh would have been called it by his parents if he was a girl. But there is someone at dh work who has a child called that can i still have it?

SpringySunshine · 25/11/2008 20:52

I think that it's harder to identify a girl - you're pretty much looking for the absence of bits instead of the bits themselves. With a boy, you can see things & it's fairly definite, I suppose there's always a chance with a girl that she's a boy who's hiding her bits between her legs.

Congratulations on a good scan & your probable girl! I'd feel that it was okay to buy some girl clothes, but to keep the nursery fairly neutral, just in case.

Isla's really pretty. I suppose it'd depend how your DH felt about the colleague thing. I don't see why you shouldn't have it, unless they're very best friends or something. Your DH can always just say that it was entirely your choice when he tells him & wash his hands of it.

frekkles · 25/11/2008 21:04

crikey that's a cool name for a thread. hello ladies x

StephanieByng · 25/11/2008 21:07

can I just say, to those who are worried about friends or people at work with same names/babies about to be born and named; just call YOUR baby what YOU like! I can't understand all the worry if someone else has a name or might have a name....you just have to go for what you want and sod everyone else. It's your kid, your choice. Other people don't own names.

Thank you.

I Feel better for that.

SpringySunshine · 25/11/2008 21:22

Hey frekkles how are things?

Oh my, it's just taken me forever to catch up with the thread. And I can't even chat about baby names because I know exactly what Bean's first name will be but don't want to let it out until Bean is born. I know that I'll crack if I start discussing it and DH will be so if I've announced our baby name choices on the internet.

Oooooooo, I showed DH a pic of the Hotmilk chemise and he wanted to jump me there and then Oooops, maybe that's something else that he wouldn't want broadcast over the internet

SpringySunshine · 25/11/2008 21:43

Swaliswan, I demand a direct link to this chemise. I'm getting desperate

SpringySunshine · 25/11/2008 21:43

Swaliswan · 25/11/2008 21:45

OK, here is a pic for you Springy, but you have to ignore the fact that in this pic the woman is not-so-seductively unhooking the nursing clip!

Swaliswan · 25/11/2008 21:48

Or you could try this slightly sexy pic.

Or go here and select nightwear at the bottom of the screen then choose 'slip into seduction' for a really sexy pic.

KittyCat8 · 25/11/2008 21:53

Evening ladies! How's the kicking tonight? Our lil' Kung-Fu Panda is all over the show right now... this is the COOLEST feeling in the world!

Need some "neighbourly" advice! I need to know if I'm being hormonally nutty and can blame it on the baby, or if I really am saddled with neighbours from hell...

What would you think if your upstairs neighbour had been blasting hip-hop since 12h30 and was still going strong when DH got home from work? I went outside to check which flat it was coming from, but was too chicken to knock on the door...

Hubby was annoyed, understandably, and wrote a very polite note asking them to turn it down as it had been on (and loud) all day. A few minutes ago we get the neighbour knocking at the door - to say that they HADN'T BEEN HOME ALL DAY and that it wasn't them!! I know that it was - I could hear them walking around and the music was coming from their door - so WTF? Am I losing it completely or are my neighbours the nutty ones?

Any sympathy and chocolate biscuits will be appreciated...

SpringySunshine · 25/11/2008 21:54

Ooh, pretty!

Although I'm not sure it's worth the money for yet another crushing rejection

God, I'd be so embarrassed if I did buy one & wear it & tried to be all sexy & he still said he was too tired / cold / just not in the mood.

Swaliswan · 25/11/2008 21:56

Living in a block of flats can be so rubbish at time, Kitty. When I went and asked my upstairs neighbour to tell their grandchildren to keep the noise down as they had just woken up a poorly DD, he just smirked and shut the door in my face.

Swaliswan · 25/11/2008 21:57

Springy it's only about £35 on the second website that I linked to. I know that's quite a lot but loads less than the £55 it's supposed to be.

Swaliswan · 25/11/2008 21:58

I need to feel sexy to get in the mood so I'm expecting great things from my Hotmilk purchase. My DH isn't the problem with our sex life, it's me. You would be shocked at just how little sex we've had since I fell pg.

SpringySunshine · 25/11/2008 22:23

Swaliswan, I doubt I'd be shocked I do know what you mean, though - it does take a bit extra to feel sexy at the moment. I think that's why DP's lack of interest is stinging so much. Usually I'd just consider it a normal dry spell, but I find that I need quite a lot of validation at the moment & I'm just not getting it. I may invest the £35 though - I'll see how it goes over the next couple of nights. Doubt much'll be going on tonight because we've just had a blazing row. Again.

Kitty, you're not being unreasonable in the slightest, but I don't see that you can do much about it if they're going to be so stupid. Perhaps next time DH should knock right on the door & speak to them, so they don't have time to play pretend about it?
