don't know if anyone's still awake but frazzled, you've just made me laugh with your 'bigger than your baby's head' comment, then llareggub bigger than DH's head.... had a really low mood day and am glad you made me smile.

19 weeks tomorrow! still unsure about movement but thought i felt a bubble or maybe just wind.

hope all are well tonight. think i'm on my way to bed.

By the way, I checked my baby's HR again tonight, and its gone from 162 (train) the other night to 140 (galloping horse) tonight. So I won't be reading too much into it any more lol. Someone mentioned the other day about HR changing due to activity. It does remind me of when I had to go into hospital at 38 weeks with DD due to a high blood pressure reading, and they monitored her activity and HR and her HR did increase when she was more active...guess my baby must be sleeping tonight, although for the first time, I could "hear" movements on the doppler (ahhh).

pulapula · 04/12/2008 22:55

Must go to bed lol- talking to myself, but just have to say I can't believe some of us are 19 weeks tomorrow- nearly time for 20 week scans (how exciting). Remember that if you want to have a go at predicting your baby's sex before you find out, post here, and we'll see how good we are (will it be more than 50% right).

My scan isn't til 6 Jan so have a while to think more about it lol

Morning Ladies.
Had my 16 week appointment with Midwife this am, heard heartbeat, but she wouldnt tell me the heartrate as she said it didnt mean anything until a lot later on in the pregnancy??
It sounded like a train, so guessing its a boy this time round!

Due1stMay09 · 05/12/2008 10:51

Morning - loving the new festive smileys

Im so suprised at how quick time is flying, cant believe some of us will be 20 weeks next week! Half way through!! I cannot wait.

Ive had frigging sciatica in my back yesterday - thought after a good nights sleep it would be one today but its still there and driving me insane, i dont know how to ease it

Hope everyone is well, im so hungry today, ive eaten more than a normal person would eat in a whole day all ready

FiKelly · 05/12/2008 11:00

Sorry i've not been on for days... it's been an extremely busy week with DS activities and i've been shattered come evening time. So many pages to catch up on! Today is a stay at home day (apart from a dash to fill the car with petrol for my mum by lunchtime) so plenty of time to hopefully get the christmas tree out. I've been desperate since the 30th but had absolutely no energy to do it... till today. Fortunately it's all in a very big wooden chest in our lounge so i don't have to wait for DH to get it down from high places

spangle how scary for you... I had multiple episodes of bleeding with DS and ended up having so many scans we lost count in the end. The scans were great but the bleeds were very scary. One of their pos reasons was a blood clot they saw between the placenta and the uterine wall. In time it disappeared... either to the bleeds or being absorbed by the placenta.

frazzle so glad your amnio went well and i would have been panicky too if my cramping had been different to before... even when told it is normal.

jael sorry your consul for spd wasn't as successful as it could have been. DS & I often have cbeebies days and I don't have any pains at all! So don't think you're a rotten mum at all.

llareggub i really hope your diabetes turns out to be just gestational. Fingers crossed. How are you coping with the injections bit... i'm such a coward with needles [shudder].

divedaisy LOL at your pressies and who on earth would use the advertising keyring?

detsy i hope your DD eyes are less gunky. It makes it so hard for them and mine hates drops with avengence too.

agooboo we've gone through spells of DS waking at night. Fortunately for us it's usually been for a reason... although it sometimes took me a while to figure out what it was. In aug (when he turned 2) it was teeth... the big back molars. In sept when we switched DS into the big room (so there'd be room for 2) it got colder and it turned out he was waking because he got cold. He's a great one for kicking off his duvet. So got a quilted sleepsuit and that sorted that one out. In oct more waking again... this was hard to suss... and after mumsnetting... we decided it was bad dreams. So followed suggestions for night light, we popped it on if he woke up and after a story/cuddle he was happy to go back to bed. Fingers crossed so far in Nov/dec no wakings at all. I even got a lie in this am... DS slept from 7pm till 8.30 today! I panicked for a moment that he was ok... then he made noises in his cot & i breathed a sigh of relief! All might change for us next thurs when his new bed arrives and he won't be in his cot anymore?! If we we're having constant wakings like you I'd go down the CC too.

Potty training... we are no where near this! DS is 2 & 1/4 and i've been asking him for ages is he's done a wee/poo he seems to say yes/no depending on what he feels like as most of the time it's been completely wrong! This week there has been a glimmer of hope.. he told me for the first time he'd done a poo as soon as he'd done it ( i could see he was having one) and wanted changed. Whoohoo but that was a one shot wonder as the last few days have been back to couldn't give a toss even though he'd be waddling as the poo was so big! He will sit on his potty fully clothed for a split second and play with it. Take his nappy off and there's no chance. Not panicking as my pals DS was 3 & 1/2 before being dry in day and later for night. Would love to have DS out of nappies before the next one arrives though.

Weight gain... just looked up in my notes what i was at 12wks booking as couldn't remember... looks like i've gained 5 lbs since then which is about 1 lb a week. I don't think that's good at all? if I carry on at that rate i'll gain at least another
23 lbs before we get to 40wks. Will have to try and remember to weigh myself a bit more often.

Most of my weight gain is prob on my boobs too as my bump seems smaller recently. I started off at a 28J and I'm now using a bra extender on it which has made it more of a 34J. Last time after having DS I ended up with boobs so huge (34K/L) DH put one of the cups of my nursing bras on his head as a hat! He thought it was hilarious but I was completely mortified. I'm bigger post DS than I was before so I'm hoping to not need a bigger cup this time or I'll have to get a nursing bra made especially. No bras go bigger than L cup i think... I another that can do the remote too!

Sorry for the huge post... will be on and off prob for most of day. Good to eventually catch up & sorry if I've forgotten anyone. xxx

llareggub · 05/12/2008 15:34

Fikelly it isn't too bad, really. It doesn't hurt at all.

I went to see my consultant today and he has advised me to swap to another consultant who specialises in gestational diabetes. I really wanted to stay with him, so he promised me he would deliver baby. It is pretty certain I'll be having another c-section, given my history so he told me it will be either the 27th April or the 4 May, as he only does Mondays with the knife. So, which do you reckon will be my baby's birthday?

Heartbeat wise, he told me it was between 155-160 and laughed when I told him why I wanted to know. He told me as the baby's heart gets bigger, so the heartrate gets faster.

I have a very strong feeling he is a boy anyway, so let's see on the 27 April or 4 May!

Due1stMay09 · 05/12/2008 16:02

Anyone got any advice for back pain? Nothing i do works and i dont like taking paracetamol. Its so annoying

llareggub · 05/12/2008 16:19

Could you do some stretches? That used to help me. I had a birthing ball which I used to roll over. Or try on all fours?

SweetBROODY · 05/12/2008 16:21

Hey ladies - its good to see you all doing well.. I had an appointment yesterday and heard babies heartbeat it was 150.. not sure if that means anything.

My dad also had his Bypass yesterday and is feeling pretty battered... ITs keeping me busy though and cant beleive where the time is flying. cant not beleive that i'm almost 4 months!

its alwasy nice to read you ladies expereinces though it gives me something to smile about at the end of a long day.. hope to start posting a bit more as well.. feel a bit more human.. now at 15 weeks! Even manged to keep brekky and lunch down!

llareggub its the best thing you can do for your baby and well done for being so brave.. I know how hard it is - especially when its all so new...

But you will be fine - it gets easier... and it means YOU have control of your sugars.. How are you coping? I'm always here if you need any questions answered or if you just need a chat..

llareggub · 05/12/2008 16:32

Thanks SweetBROODY, that's really kind of you. The hardest thing is getting my head around the fact that it isn't anything that I've done or haven't done, it's just one of those things. I'm sticking rigidly to the diet, and I think I need to buy a smaller pair of maternity jeans as I've lost weight!

We're upping my insulin dose today to 6 something or other, so hopefully that should do the trick. I'm so nervous about the 20 week scan, far more so than I was last time and I can't wait for the 30th December when hopefully it will all be OK.

Due1stMay09 · 05/12/2008 16:37

Will give that a try llareggub thank you

MissyK · 05/12/2008 16:43

19 weeks and the size of a house... And the christmas parties start this weekend, am I the only one really not looking forward to such things?
This morning at 7 am I had to tell DH what I want to eat in 2 weeks time for his work party, agh!!! I never know what I want for lunch at the moment yet alone 2 weeks ahead for a big night out, I'll want to be asleep by 9pm!
1 week until the next scan though, something to smile about seeing the little man again (until they tell me it's actually a girl)!!

SweetBROODY · 05/12/2008 16:43

llareggub Hmm.. I do try to eat whatever I can.. becuase I havent been able to keep food down either.. I lost some weight but just adapt my insulin to match my food now.. I'm on 12/14/14/ and 18 in the evening :S

Your right about the not having done anything.. Becuase I lost the baby in May it made me feel even more guilty for having been diagnosed with the diabetes and I was 3 months into the pregnancy that time.. All you can do is try your best.. thats what my consultant said to me yesterday when I asked all my diabetes questions...

Just try and stay positive.. if it helps read up about your condition. Dont read the older texts as they will probably upset you ( they did upset me)

The newer ones are really good.. I even ordered some from america and australia.. seemed a bit more comprehensive then the literature here.. although you thne have to work to the UK figures..

You cant blame anyone or anything.. you gott ajust keep going and think of your little one in your arms at the end of this

Due1stMay09 · 05/12/2008 16:45

llareggub - why has no one told me this before?! Its magic, i would never think something so simple would be the only thing to ease it. Thank you so much u are a star! Dont want my partner to get ideas if he comes home and im on all fours like that though...lol he can think again!

cece · 05/12/2008 16:46

Is everyone getting their anomoly scan at 20 weeks? At my local hospital they do it at 22 weeks. So mine is ine the second week of January. Although I do have a 17 weeks scan next week. Feeling very nervous about it.

SweetBROODY · 05/12/2008 16:48

Missy I know exactly what you mean.. not looking forward to a booze free Xmas!
I gave up fags as well and always miss them at Xmas

Ahh life is just not the same..

Food is still a bit of a battle for me too..

SweetBROODY · 05/12/2008 16:52

My 20 week scan is second week of Jan as well...

Really looking forward to it.. I hope everything alright in there.. It feels like to long since I saw the baby,, can feel it though.. - strange, I was told 15 weeks is to soon :S confused..

Cant belive how the time is flying.. there will be a baby in my arms soon.. 5 months! lol I cant belive you have to take them home at the end! Its my first and I'm thinking what do I do with it!

I have had a second trimester mc before so the consultant is giving me an extra reassurance scan. He has already done one at 8 weeks too. He is a very nice man. But at the moment I feel too scared about it to be reassured! Hopefully I will feel reassured afterwards.

MissyK · 05/12/2008 17:03

SweetBROODY It's all the work / friends parties that I'm dreading.
DH's work (mainly all men - I'm a bit of a tomboy)) haven't seen me since being pg, I'm usually drunk causing as much mischief as them tottering on my heels (they find it hilarious to see me girlied up) into the casino after too much wine at the meal. They're a great bunch of guys but I guess more than anything I'm worried they'll treat me differently... OR I'll find them the most annoying bunch of idiots around as I'm stone cold sober and want to go home by 10pm!!!
Plus there's no size 8 dress & perfect hair (it's trying to go curly?!!?), shallow of me I know, but I have spent 5 weeks finding something to wear, I'm only 24 & known for my own style I still wanted to look like me.. not every other PG lady. Ok, it's official, I have lost the plot!!

Oh well, only 3 xmas parties to go.. GR!!!

Roll on xmas day when we'll all wake up at my parents & no-one will notice if I even get dressed or stay in my pj's and drink a ridiculous amount of milk & orange juice!!

SweetBROODY · 05/12/2008 17:03

cece thats so sad.. I hope it all goes really well for you.. I've got one at 16 weeks.. to look at babies heart.. I know what you mean its so worrying.. there is so much in the world I didnt know existed in the world until this pregnancy that could go wrong with a baby.. and I guess its doubly worse when you feel like it could happen to you..

I'm sure it will be fine.. try not to worry.. I know its hard.. but you have to try staty positive for the baby!
