abby I had the leaking fluid thing at 39 weeks last time - turned out it wasn't amniotic fluid but they didn't actually specify what it was (maybe to spare my blushes?). I just couldn't believe it was possible to leak wee and not know about it (and actually it didn't smell like wee either). Anyway, defo worth getting it checked out in case.

And I am rank down there thanks for asking Jam - hard to know where the discharge stops and the wee begins.

And a real treat in store for you first-timers - you will smell like a butcher's shop for the first few weeks ... or is that just me?

kayzisexpecting · 28/11/2008 14:16

Octavia is gorgeous!!!!! And how good did LadyT look in that picture!!!! So

Abby Hope everything is ok when you go in later.

just had a sudden nosebleed in the middle of a meeting with my boss . Thought those stopped in the 1st trimester? Ah well.

Thanks for the pics PD, baby LT is indeed gorgeous (as is her mum ). This is why I am not putting up any pics of heavily pg me!

artichokes · 28/11/2008 14:51

Gosh, I miss 18 hours and it takes me 30 mins of reading to catch-up!

It was my baby shower last night which was really nice. Got lots of lovely pressies for the baby and it made me really broody (odd thing to say at 38 weeks pregnant!). This morning DH and I took DD to the London Aquarium which she loved and then out to a posh restaurant for lunch. It was lovely but I am knackered now and intend to slump on the sofa until bedtime.

I keep forgetting to join the e-mail group. Who runs it? My e-mail address is [email protected] If anyone has the picture of Octavia can you forward it to me? I would love to coo over a newborn in my new found broody state! And can I join the main group too?

EffiePerine · 28/11/2008 14:54

atri: I'm organising the email list, will add you on and send you a mail (will also forward Octavia pics).

artichokes · 28/11/2008 14:58

Fab, thanks Effie .

EffiePerine · 28/11/2008 15:01

arti: tried emailing you at [email protected] but it didn't work. Do I have the right address?

artichokes · 28/11/2008 15:04

How odd, it is [email protected]
I just checked and I have other recent e-mails. Would you mind trying one more time?

GettingBiggerBird · 28/11/2008 15:06

Hi all, just back from a lovely lunch with my friend and her 3-month twins, they're gorgeous but it's very daunting. One had just finished feeding and wanted to sleep in the buggy (which requires her being walked) whilst the b=oy was waking up wanting a feed. Aaargh. We consoled ourselves by going to local baby shop in Stoke Newington and spending too much money on a new changing bag and sling each - when I've been so careful to save money by getting everything secondhand! This maternity leave shopping is very dangerous .

at PD's graphic description for first-timers. My top tip would be to have water in a cup beside the loo to pour on your bits when you're weeing if you've had a tear.

EffiePerine · 28/11/2008 15:07

have tried again - could be a temporary blip

artichokes · 28/11/2008 15:08

I just got your test e-mail and replied. Can you see the reply?

EffiePerine · 28/11/2008 15:10

No reply as yet, but have tried forwarding the photos...

JamInMyWellies · 28/11/2008 15:14

GBB very good tip and yes PD

If you have any friends in the states see if they can source you a bum bath. I did the water in a sports bottle to squish water on my fanjo last time round and when I spoke to my BF a few months ago after she had given birth she tild me about these fab things that fit inside the toilet that you fill with water so essentially you are in a mini bidet so all your bits are in water for peeing and the first poo.

GettingBiggerBird · 28/11/2008 15:34

YES to savoy cabbage leaves when BF-ing, they're magic.

Cat I live in Lower Clapton, and funnily enough it was Spence we went to for lunch today - the only cafe in Stokey big enugh to take a side-by-side double buggy!

Olipop · 28/11/2008 16:02

Veggiemummy · 28/11/2008 17:36

goodarvoevening all got my feet up after long day going to wolverhampton for my course. i have 2 weeks left before we break up for christmas, the last day is 3 days before my due date (15th) i'm not sure if i will make that one.

Jam i stink bad nasties down there, even 30mins after my shower i will sit down to got to the loo, which obviously means getting closer to my undies and bits and the smell is just....oh it's not nice. I worry about a child having to come out through that. Hope we get the pool filled in time.

Chutney just remembered another MIL who didn't approve of unwed couples. My friend rang his mum to tell her he was really happy because it was he and his DP's 10th anniversary of being together, (they had lived together for the last 8 years), and he was surprising her by taking her away for the weekend and his mum said 'i don't know why your celebrating 10 years of sin'. They have 'done the proper thing' now and got married but i always just found that the most horrible thing to say to your obviously happy son.

I'm a pead nurse and it was always a pain when i started working over here having to check if dads had parental consent, i felt it was so demeaning to the ones who weren't married to the mothers to now have the same rights as a married dad.

At DS's nursery on the entrance form they get you to say how you would like to be addressed in correspondance i.e mr & mrs X or parents of X and also how you would like to be addressed in person, like by your first name or Mrs X or whatever. saves confusion and assumptions.

Abby hope they sort you out, hope it's nothing bad, just wee, but usually you can tell.

emmanbump · 28/11/2008 18:25

Hi All,

kayzisexpecting · 28/11/2008 18:37

Evening.

Still not thinking about BabyKayz coming. I'm hoping the reverse thinking will work and he'll come out early. So if I expect him on his due date then he'll come a bit earlier.

I remembered to have some raspberry leaf tea today. I keep forgetting to have it.

I'm so excited to hear from Lal to see how she is.

Very quick message to say hello and I'm back! Just got back home - to a power cut! Luckily I have a battery-powered laptop and a wireless dongle . I haven't had time to read back through the thread but wanted to say thank you for all the well wishes. I'll bore you all with the details at some point but not right now. Fantastic to be home though - despite the lack of heat and light! The postnatal ward was hellish - I have many a tale to tell... again for another time.

Hope those with bumps aren't finding the last weeks too arduous. Chins up! It is SO worth it in the end!

Congratulations and lots of love to all the new additions since I was last on the thread... I will go through and read properly tomorrow if I get a moment!

kayzisexpecting · 28/11/2008 19:00

I'm not honestly Cat I am not thinking about it.

Hello Verso, sorry about your power cut. Can't wait to hear your news.
