Awwwwww.....great news!!
Congratulations!

TheInvisibleHand · 25/11/2008 12:57

Congratulations daisy! That's fantastic!

TheInvisibleHand · 25/11/2008 13:00

Oh and catdean totally agree about the complete lack of ability to concentrate. Am still supposed to be working, but have the attention span of a flea. Bit of a shame as there are a few things that are supposed to get done over the next few weeks, but can't seem to get too worked up about them...

Bisou · 25/11/2008 13:00

Well done daisy!!! Can't wait to hear all about it

Enjoy your beautiful little baby, bet he is gorgeous too!

Is there anyone else who finds it impossible to get comfy? I can't get remotely comfy on the sofa, floor or computer chair.

jumpjockey · 25/11/2008 13:09

Daisy well done you, hurray for more thread babies!

Can't wait to hear the news from verso and LadyT

Completely off topic Q here but does anyone have a mini camcorder they'd recommend? H needs one for work (they're videoing consultations) and they're willing to go halves on the cost so he though we could use it for producing blackmail fodder (erm, I mean filming the nipper for distant relatives). Having only just gone to digital cameras recently we're not very up on all this technology stuff...

kayz re getting comfy, do you have a widgy cushion? (the big U-shaped ones for bfing) I find that if I put it round my back like half a life belt* if helps prop me up so the weight doesn't drag me backwards

  • ain't no way it's going round the front at the moment!!
kayzisexpecting · 25/11/2008 13:13

No I don't have one yet. I really need to get one. I keep re-arranging cushions but it makes no difference.

massive congrats Daisy and family.

Kimberly1979 · 25/11/2008 13:59

Cat the MW at our antenatal classes this past weekend said that DH's shouldn't travel after you are 36 weeks. Just in case you were to go early. But I would think whatever makes you most comfortable.

Congrats Daisy, Flumpy, Lady T and Verso!!! Can't wait to hear more about how everything went.

Kayz I can't seem to get comfortable either. My hips have been killing me and the only comfortable position is to stand up. But I'm tired and really want to sit or lay down and I can't really do either and get comfortable.

Went to costco this morning and bought our turkey and other bits for the Thanksgiving dinner this weekend! Can't wait to have some good food! I decided to make some peach cobbler. Hopefully it'll turn out okay. yum!

EffiePerine · 25/11/2008 14:20

Congratulations Daisy . Hope all went well and you are home soon.

Wonder if Verso and LadyT have their babies yet?

Have just got into work, had to take the morning off as DS not well with a cough and cold, not much sleep last night as a result. DH on duty this afternoon and this evening, as I have an early work Xmas drinks/leaving do (feeling v guilty for leaving him with sick babe ). DS was fine when I left, still coughing but eating pizza and watching TV in his Bob the Builder pjs.

Trunip: hope you're OK. Did someone ring you back in the end?

WG: writing a letter sounds a good idea. Rellies can get a bit odd with new babies, but there will also be some that surprise you with how much help they are after the arrival.

kmp1 · 25/11/2008 14:21

CONGRATS DAISY!! Beans Can't even believe the amount of cellulite on my thighs.... desperately hope it is all going to BF too

Kim that reminds me - must get to Costco for turkey - and Bio oil amongst other things!

hiccymapops · 25/11/2008 15:06

Congratulations Daisy lovely name too (it was on our shortlist, very shortlist, a whole 2 names ) Hope you're both doing really well xxx

LadyT and Verso hope everything's gone well for you both. Can't wait to hear

Bisou i'm really sorry to hear your sad news. He sounds like a lovely man that will be very missed xxx

I think the letters to missed parents sounds like a very good idea. I may write one to my dad, i can't seem to stop thinking about him lately, but i think that's because i lost him the last time i was pregnant. Thank goodness we've all got gorgeous little bundles to look forward to to keep us occupied

Hope everyone's okay, i'll try and have a better read through later, i missed loads yesterday!

hattyyellow · 25/11/2008 15:18

Congratulations Daisy!!!! What lovely news and what a great name!

Still can't believe babies are actually coming!

Just been to see the midwife and I am 3/5ths engaged!- she said that doesn't mean things will happen early - but it all sounds very imminent to me..confused!

She also really irritated me (not hard at this stage of pregnancy) by asking for the third time if I knew what I was having and looking all disappointed when I said it was probably another girl "oh your poor husband, he must be wanting a son though..I was very lucky I had two boys and a girl"...honestly, shouldn't she be a little more tactful? Especially when I said I was perfectly happy with another girl? Sorry - rant over!

SummerLightning · 25/11/2008 15:26

at your midwife hatty!! That's terrible! That's the sort of thing MIL's and tactless old ladies in the street say, but you'd think that midwives would know better!

My MIL says that "it's good we're having a boy as everyone would prefer a boy first" [hmmm]
I was a first-born girl and i'd like to think my parents were not disappointed with me

kayzisexpecting · 25/11/2008 15:26

I have just come over all tired, been ok most of the day and its just hit me. I also feel really sick which can't have anything to do with the whole packet few cookies I had earlier.

Hatty You'd think a MW would have more tact really. Seeing as she knows there isn't really anything you can do about the sex. Lots of people have told me they feel sorry for DH because we're having another boy. Apparently boys are closer to their mums and girls are closer to their dads.
I'm not too sure about it really. I think I'm equally close to my mum and dad and so is my brother.

Hi all,

congratulations daisy, can't wait to hear details! Such a gorgeous name as well.

Wonder if ladyt & verso have had their babies yet? [impatient]!

kayz I can't get comfortable either. The best I've found is my birthing ball but I can only manage to sit on that for about 10mins before needing to move again.

effie hope ds is feeling better. My ds has come down with a cough & cold as well but seems ok in himself. Funnily enough, he's also in his Bob the Builder pjs!

Bisou sorry to hear about your friend. Sounds like a huge loss for everyone.

indith how are the iron tablets? I'm on them as well and the dr told me today I need to take them 3 times a day. I'm a bit though that that's a bit much.

Sorry if I've missed anyone out. I'll have a proper read through later.

rosmerta · 25/11/2008 15:31

Hatty mws should have more tact really. Tbh, now if anyone asks me what I'm hoping for I just say 'a baby'! I got fed up of being dragged into a girl vs boy debate!

traceface · 25/11/2008 15:35

congratulations Daisy!!!!!!! Can't wait to hear all about it!
Hatty when I saw my MW last week she spent the first 5 mins on a rant about how she resented mums these days for being able to take time off with their children when she had to go straight back to work and has worked full time every since with 3 kids....blah blah blah!!!! I felt like saying "that's not my problem - can you check me out now please!"
Kayz - hope you manage to get a rest. Take it easy (preferably with a Cadbury's Caramel!)

EffiePerine · 25/11/2008 15:39

Hatty: grr at the mw. I've been gettin sympathetic responses to the news that I'm having another boy, when I'ma ctually rather keen on the idea! I like to think the boys being closer to their mums thing is true, but I'm sure it's more down to a) individual personalities and b) age.

Step away from the scales ladies, I deliberately don't look when the mw weighs me. DH was nice the other evening and pointed out that though my bump is massive I still have (something) of a waist. He tactfully didn't mention my ever-expanding arse .

SummerLightning · 25/11/2008 16:09

My (D)H said to me last night:

"You do know when you've had it, you're still going to be massive for a bit don't you?"

I think he was trying to prepare me, but it still was a little misguided I felt!!!

Veggiemummy · 25/11/2008 16:12

good afternoon ladies, had my MW around today still 3/5th engaged but now he has swapped again and is lying on the right side. Heartbeat BP and all that good. measuring all good. Hb & platlets all good too which i was alittle worried about but obviously tiredness is just due to lack of sleep. Had a big nose bleed this morning which was annoying but otherwise feel ok. had yoga this afternoon which is always nice. MW is going to sort out my birthpool next week. She has a lady due on the weekend and if she doesn't have it this weekend she will get me another birthpool so we are all set to go if he comes early.

Hatty you MW is weird to say that. My brother has 4 girls and used to really resent people assuming that he wanted a boy, because he never really did. He loves his girls who are now all teenagers and adore their dad. And Trace- your MW needs to get over it, we have to accept the decisions we make in life whether we had a choice in them or not, and whinging about them whilst in a clinic is not exactly professional.

So excited for Daisy, great name it's one of our shortlisted names. Have been thinking of those 3 girls all day hope Verso is ok with her cold i am worried they will be hesitant to do her CS as there is an aneasthesia risk if they had to do an em GA for any reason. Also looking forward to hearing how LT got on.

DS was so sweet when MW was hear he gets right into helping her examine me, he loves holding that trumpet thing she has to listen to the babies heartbeat. and he loves when she puts the doppler on so he can hear it. DH listen through her trumpet thing which i'm a bit jealous of because apparently it sound really nice and clear compared to the static of the doppler.

Kayz i ahve done the occasional weight (mw doesn't weigh me thank fully) and i a currently 10kg heavier than i was with DS and 20kg heavier than DH. Loads of the birth postions i like require him to hold me luckily he is strong, but he is going to start picking up his free weight training a little, i think for my benefit.

DH has to go down to London for work but apart from that he has no other trips planned. Since last week they have been very good with checking first if it all right to book him in for work that requires travel. he is free to say no now, but we are also very aware that he is the only one in his company with a high level security clearance so he is getting in as much of that work as he can for them as otherwise i think they pretty much can't do it. Hopefully they will get someone else who can do it soon.
