Trace my dear why on earth would you weigh yourself? More to the point how did you actually manage to see the numbers? I tried at MIL's and the bump hid the readout. A good thing I feel

As for the hair, go for something nice

Ds still waking himself up coughing. Obviously has a sore throat as he was screaming in pain with every cough at 3am today. Thank god for music channels on tv to get his attention long wnough to be able to calm him down and calpol. After that though I had a very affectionate, giggling boy in my bed which would have been lovely at 7 but not at 4!

Must go do work for meeting this afternoon.

hattyyellow · 25/11/2008 10:31

LAughing like mad at Daisy's live waters breaking update! Hope it all goes okay.

Woke up 6ish this morning with DD's and thought of our girls going "over the top" today. Hope all the sections are going well - can't believe babies are finally coming out! Dying to hear all about it.

Bisou no sadly there was no bum photocopying! DD's came with us for a drink and did really well, giving us time to have a drink each - but as soon as they'd finished their crisps they were getting restless - must be the quietest leaving do ever! Home by quarter to 8!

Chutney sorry to hear about your crap night. My two are plugged into Mr Tumble despite having slept through so I hope your girls are enjoying some tv too..

Is anyone else a bit nervy about things suddenly happening? Every time I get a stomach cramp, back ache, twinge, anything really - I have a mild panic that things are happening! I'm pretty sure they are all standard pregnancy symptoms rather than impending labour - I just feel very jumpy..

Am only 36+1 so hopefully it's still a bit early...and the nursery isn't finished yet! Mum comes up when I'm 38+2 so just need to hang on til then..

Turniphead1 · 25/11/2008 10:32

Can't get over Daisy's waters popping online (more or less) the night before her csection!

Arti and WG I am inspired to write a letter to my own Mum who died 4 years ago in a couple of weeks. But worried it will turn be into a blubbering wreck...

Trace I had exactly the same symptoms as you all day yesterday and last night (even down to the no. of poos !). Anything more happening for you? (and hope the haircit is a success!)

I also had some colostrum leaks (which I normally never have in pg), and lots of discharge (sorry tmi) but no show. But I am only 36 weeks and have always been on time/late before so sure its nothing. Am slightly worried as have also had some very sharp internal pains and the baby's movement has slowed down a lot. Have put a call into the Birth Unit - waiting for someone to call me back.

Arti no idea where to put the evening primrose oil?! But Clary Sage can be bought in any good chemists that has a natural health section. Or somewhere like Holland and Barrett. I think the one I have is made by Tisserand and you need a base oil like Almond to mix it with. Sorry you didn't get the MLU after all. What a pain but I am sure you will have a lovely birth in the main hospital.

Chutney hope you get a snooze today whilst cbeebies on!

indith hope your boy is better soon and that you aren't too tired at your meeting this afternoon.

KMP - oh your poor toe . That sounds so hurty. Hope it goes down soon.

hattyyellow · 25/11/2008 10:34

ps meant to say Artichokes what a lovely idea to write the letter to your mum - making me all tearful just reading about it. My dad died years ago, I must do something similar.

Hope everything settles down for you. SO sorry you lost your appeal for midwife led unit, but exciting that you are fully engaged! Keep us posted!

Indith sorry to hear DS not feeling great - hope you are both tucked up watching something nice.

simmo14 · 25/11/2008 10:35

Any announcements yet? Just dropped my car off to have its MOT hope it passes- could do without the added expences atthe moment. Then off to float (maybe not!) in the brine baths at Drotwich Spa (just some self indulgent me time)

Trace: I know what you feel about weighing yourself. I have done it every week. Although it does annoy me how people feel they have the right to comment on your body size and bump size when pregnant, they would not do it when you are not !
I have a small bump (only just hovering around 10th percentile graph line) and it does bother me when people comment that I am not very big. I really have not put much weight on- not for the lack of trying. Only just 1 stone 3lbs gained so far.

Turniphead1 · 25/11/2008 10:38

Sorry xposted with Simmo - enjoy the brine baths - I am fascinated?! Never heard of them but sounds very relaxing
and Hatty I am the same about every twinge even though only 36 weeks. Hope your girls enjoy Mr Tumble! My two love him - but personally I find he gives me the creeps!

SummerLightning · 25/11/2008 10:46

Hello everyone! Oh my god, I feel back in the land of the living after nearly a week of horrid cold/flu bug. I am so happy!! Not going to moan about pregnancy symptoms any more as I feel soooo great in comparison to yesterday! verso my sympathies if you feel like I did and you are having c-section today, hope the cold clears up soon.

And daisy's waters going live online, priceless!

I am the opposite re impending labour, I am assuming it's not going to happen any time soon. Which is a bit dangerous, have not fully packed my bag yet (bit of an understatement actually, it currently has only chocolate and biscuits in it!! Can you see my priorities!?) Was meant to pack last week but was feeling so rubbish didn't do it. So should be a job for tonight really.

arti sorry to hear you didn't get into the MLU. i really hope it goes ok and as you wish in the doctor led part of the hospital. Hopefully as you are not a first timer you will know more what to expect this time, and you/DH can avoid unnecessary interventions a bit better.

trace I would go for funkyish, but tell them that you want it low maintenance, maybe they can come up with a compromise!

Does anyone know a good place to get an embroidered blanket with a baby name and Date of Birth on it? Probably online. My best mate is due any day now, and I have decided this is what I would like to get the baby, as someone got one for another friend of mine and it was lovely (this others friends was apparently from a little shop in Ireland so not an option)

hattyyellow · 25/11/2008 10:50

Turnip that's reassuring that you are analysing every twinge too! I think it was easier last time around as I had no DC to worry about, we were a 5 minute drive from the hospital and DH worked 20 mins away. Now I fret about the DD's, hospital is 45 mins away and DH over an hour away!

I am the same about Mr Tumble - I find him very creepy! I do quite fancy two of the ceebeeies presenters though (embarrassing admission emoticon) - Sid and the other one who do the numbers raps. My DD's look at me despairingly as I always find myself getting up and dancing to their raps!

I am fascinated by the brine baths too...

Right must do something constructive with DD's who are now looking glazed and watching Barnaby Bear..(neglectful Mnetting mother emoticon)..

Beans33 · 25/11/2008 11:01

Morning all - wow, wonder how all the today-Mums are doing - so exciting!!! And not a little scary!

I had a terrible night's sleep last night - was convinced I was going into labour, despite not having any pains - DH dreamt I was as well, so we discussed it at 5.00 this morning. All a bit overwhelming. I also woke up every hour to go for a tiny amount of wee and although I feel fine, I've got a peculiar chest thing going on. Every time I breathe out, I can hear my chest kind of moaning and then rattling. Rather disgusting. Am a bit coughy, but nothing satisfying!!!

Daisy's waters breaking made me howl with laughter! I wonder what happened! I hope she's alright today. And Lady T and Verso - oh woweeee - so exciting!

I'm off up to Islington today for lunch with some friends, one of whom is due in February - very exciting for her too. I had tea with NCT girls yesterday and one said "I'm due a week on Thursday" and I was bowled over by how soon it was. When she turned around and told me that I'm due a week on Sunday, I nearly passed out! I veer so strongly betweeen sheer terror and absolute excitement and happiness! EEK!

Thanks for advice re DH and me arguing. I will bear it all in mind. And remember how much I love him - even when I hate him, IYSWIM!!!

Simmo - I agree re people discussing one's size during pregnancy. I have put on lots of weight - 3 stone total - and am massively conscious of it, and people do seem to comment on it. Am trying to keep sense of humour about it - as I'm 2.5 stone heavier than DH now, so don't think he'll be able to support me through labour!!! Poor bloke. Oh well, never mind!!

xx

turnip - have the birth unit called you back yet? Hope everything is alright. I guess they might want to put a monitor on you if baby's movements have slowed down? Keep us informed...
Have got loads of up-coming appointments/events etc, like dd's nativity, christmas party, invites to people's houses etc, but am finding it hard to commit! Is it best to pencil it in then back out last minute, or decline the offers now? Am worried that I will make all these plans then go into labour or be too tired to go to anything. Would hate to miss DD's nursery nativity.
Decided to go for neat easy hair cut. Boring I know, but at least it still all goes up in a bobble for when I'm trying to get me and newborn and dd1 out of the house in time for school...

kayzisexpecting · 25/11/2008 11:22

I am ready for labour. My mothercare order that was meant to be delivered last Tuesday has just turned up. It had disposable knickers, maternity pads and some baby clothes in it. I was expecting to go into labour before it arrived.

Little man feels a lot lower than he did yesterday and I really need the toilet even more than usual. Also had some not very nice bowel movements. So maybe he'll be here soon(just you watch I'll be here on Xmas Day telling you all about being induced Boxing Day)

kayz I know what you mean - I seem to yo-yo between thinking I'm about to pop and then thinking I'm weeks away!

JamInMyWellies · 25/11/2008 11:35

Hi all, how exciting that we will have had some new mummies this morning.

I am getting decidedly bored of being pregnant not helped by the begining of the hows it going, nearly there comments on facebook and in RL.

Please dont worry about your bump sizes I just bumped into the husband of a friend and didnt even get a good morning I got a bloody hell your massive!

Right off to make lunch for the most miserable cheerfull little boy in the world.

Beans33 · 25/11/2008 11:44

trace - I am saying yes to invites, but with caveats that I might not make it if I'm knackered or have had or am having the baby. People do tend to understand, so it's ok.

mibbes · 25/11/2008 11:49

Oooh it is so exciting that we'll have 3 new thread babies by the end of today (at least !)

arti sorry MLU appeal wasn't successful

hatty I am also analysing every twinge and pain as the possible first signs of labour, so you're not alone !

trace you look fabulous ! Unless you were the same weight as Posh spice beforehand it doesn't look like you've gained excessively atall, am very as I have started to pile on weight around waist, thighs and bum - lots of new cellulite on thighs - eeeuugghh ! Am trying to calm myself with the thought that body is preparing to manufacture milk so needs the extra fat and there isn't much time for any more to creep on ! Thankfully my scales are broken so I have no idea what the damage is !

turnip hope you're ok, have you heard anything ?

I'm the same Beans going between excitement and terror ! Am also very tearful, I keep watching these birth progs on the Health channel to prepare myself and I bawl every time a baby is born as it makes me think of me and DP with our wee bundle - I just can't get my head around it !!! In fact anything remotely baby/family linked has me sobbing !

Beans33 · 25/11/2008 11:53

We were given two birth DVDs at NCT and I haven't dared watch either of them yet. In some ways I feel it's best not to know!!! Or am I being cowardly?

Beans33 · 25/11/2008 12:05

Yes! I think there is one DVD of a successful waterbirth and one unsuccessful one - so think that one could be the one you're talking about!!!

Ignorance is bliss. That's what I'm telling myself anyway.

Bloody hell, it's freezing today.

daisydora · 25/11/2008 12:07

I haven't put on too much with this one. Nowhere near as much as I did with DS. But it was still horrible to see when the MW weighed me the other week.

My bag is now completely packed and I'm ready to go. Prefer it not to be tonight as football is on, but then again after the recent run of results I might be better off in labour.

My Mum has just text me saying I should be running up and down the stairs while eating a curry.
