morning all.

i've missed loads again haven't i? been dying with a nasty chest infection since saturday and have been put on antibiotics by the doctor as i actually can't breathe at times and it had gotton to the stage where i'm more worried about baby not getting enough air than by baby being subjected to ABs

not having much effect yet, the coughing is a bit looser feeling but i still feel raw down into my chest and keep having trouble breathing, not to mention generally feeling like i've been hit by a train.

feeling like such a rubbish mommy atm as the poor kids are bored out of their minds with me incapable of doing anything much with them, and dp is down with it too so of course with his asthma there goes the tiny bit of help i was getting over the weekend!

hope everyone else is doing a bit better and there have been no arrivals since i've been gone, won't promise to read through as i'm about ready to collapse again

mumoverseas · 18/11/2008 11:24

morning all. Sorry to hear about your terrible day yesterday TBM, hope you are feeling better and less stressed today.
LBB, sounds positive about your consultant taking you seriously which is good. I guess all the little things that worry us are so routine for them and probably half the time we worry about nothing.
Saw my midwife this morning. She is lovely, she is the one I saw for DD 2+ years ago and saw her for my first booking in appointment in July before I went back to Saudi. Baby apparently measures 27cm which is apparently big for my dates (25+) but won't stess about it. Does raise the gestational diabetes query but luckily I'm all sorted for test. Seems crazy that it is different in different areas but apparently here I starve from midnight! then have 410ml of lucozade at 7am then go to hospital for one blood test at 9am. Sounds much better than the procedure in other areas. (actually, wondering if the sudden weight gain in last week and larger baby is in fact bacon!) Baby weights are very odd. DC1 (aged 15) was a few days early and 6lb 8oz. DC2 (aged 12) was a week early and 9lb 2oz but dropped to about 7 1/2 overnight (I suspected gest diabetes as all the women in my family have it - late onset type) but this was ignored. Then DC3 2 years ago was just over 3 weeks early and around 7 1/2lb. (just as well she was early!) oh well, guess I'll just have to see what happens at GTT test in a few weeks. Just phoned hospital about an appointment they sent out for me to see a consultant which was a few weeks ago whilst I was away (they didn't check their notes as I'd said I was out of the country til mid November) tried to re-schedule and it appears I have an appointment on Thursday but no letter! Just as well I phoned. No idea what that is about but midwife seemed to think its because of my previous history, ie spinal surgery and DVT and they may want to start me on rat poison! (blood thiners!)
hope everyone has a good day and that you feel better soon PT.

TinkerBellesMum · 18/11/2008 12:21

Thanks all, I had a good sleep last night and feeling better today. I don't really blame myself but sometimes I need something to feel guilty about (I'm a Mum!) and there is some logic in that so it's where I direct my guilt (if that makes sense).

herbgarden, it makes a big difference! With Lily-Hope I wasn't wearing maternity clothes, I went up a size and you wouldn't have known. My first pregnancy I ballooned straight away but it was a multiple.

If you do a search on MumsNet you'll find my group, it only has one member, send me a message to say who you are. We accidentally started two groups when the idea of a FB group came up. We found that we were having a lot of people joining who were due in February but not one of us, so the group was made secret.

I think I'm going to start a new thread asking mum's of asthmatics to talk about meconium!

Questionkid · 18/11/2008 12:31

Had my GTT this morning, it was fine actually, apart from the fact that the sugary drink was disgusting - some kind of bright yellow sugar, honey and water concoction. Yuk. The time went really quickly and I didn't actually even feel that hungry. And the lovely nurse hit my vein first time round both times (they usually have to have a good poke around to find my veins which needless to say is never a pleasant experience) so all in all it was fine.

I have most definitely made up for lack of breakfast since I've been home!

Don't get the results for a week so I've sent DH out to get the ingredients for my delicious raspberry and white chocolate muffins as if the results aren't good it might be the last time I'm allowed them for a while!

I'd love to come along to the London meet up but unfortunately I'm on a course in Wimbledon next Thurs and so won't be anywhere near Tottenham Ct Rd. Hopefully there'll be another meet up soon and I'll be able to make that instead.

thehouseofmirth · 18/11/2008 18:36

Erm, where is everyone? Have you all gone to a party and forgot to invite me?

TinkerBellesMum · 18/11/2008 18:39

I was thinking it's quiet today. I'm playing WoW, trying to level up my Death Knight.

MarkStretch · 18/11/2008 18:45

I'm here!

Had my 28 weeks scan today, all ok and he is definitely a boy. We even saw his little scrotum.

Had GTT test, plus 28 weeks bloods and anti-d bloods taken so felt a bit like a pincushion.

Saw consultant who said he's not worried at all as my BP is fine and baby is growing well. He said he was 'average' and to expect between 7 and 8 pounds. God I hope that's true as dd was a huge lump at 8lb 15oz.

Made up for fasting for the GTT with a huge lunch.

DD is going to stay with her Dad in Ireland tomorrow for 5 days so have taken the day off to drive to Stansted and back.

Hope everyone is ok

thehouseofmirth · 18/11/2008 18:48

What was the scan for MS? 28 weeks is not a standard one, is it?

mslucy · 18/11/2008 18:49

MS - I was told this one is average (after a whopper of 9lb 7oz)

But then they said that about DS....

Methinks they do not really know their arse from their elbow.

LOL at scrotum - such a ridiculous word.

MarkStretch · 18/11/2008 18:53

I deliberated over balls, nutsack, bollocks......

They gave me one at 28 weeks as I'm medicated for my BP and they were concerned it may affect his growth.

I've got to have another at 36 weeks. It's a that point they rub their chins and say 'Hmmm maybe he's more like 10lbs..' and I fall to the floor crying and begging for a caesarean.

OP posts:
mslucy · 18/11/2008 19:15

ball bag - or is that a bit too Russell Brand?

I feel like I'm going to burst already at 29 weeks and am starting to get VERY bad tempered.
Lack of sleep and lots of work don't help, plus had father in law staying here last night.
He means well but I wasn't esp in the mood for his "political correctness gone mad" type comments.
They turn me into the biggest lentil weaver on the planet!

MarkStretch · 18/11/2008 19:23

Wrinkly walnuts?

OP posts:
thehouseofmirth · 18/11/2008 19:31

I think they make the whole baby size thing up as they go along. I had to have a 32 week scan with DS to check my placenta had moved up and they had a panic about his alledged small size then but he turned out to be average. One of my friends was assured her baby was going to be "a nice 7lb-er" and he turned out to be over 10lbs.

Not sur eif it was the worry of my friend shaving her lumpectomy today or my hormones butI foudn myself driving the car this afternoon and weeping incontrollably to Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers singing Islands in the Stream. Do you think there is any help for me?

mslucy · 18/11/2008 20:15

plums?

baby size stuff = cobblers

Dolly & Kenny = class act.

thehouseofmirth · 18/11/2008 20:43

that should read having her lumpectomy

TinkerBellesMum · 18/11/2008 21:41

I'm considering leaving for awhile. I was going to say I'll just post on FB but not sure if I can handle that either at the moment. I'm not flouncing, just feeling down and things are getting to me (not on this group, I love this group) so I'm thinking of moving away from it all for a little bit. I'll post my MSN on the group in case anyone wants to talk to me.

littlesez · 19/11/2008 01:23

markstretch and mslucy highly amusing scrotum conversation!!!!! made me giggle like a child.

So GTT does everyone have this coz no one mentioned to me? am i not special enough?

Sorry you feel bad tinkerbelles mum, hope you feel you have enough support from people around you even if you dont feel like posting on here or facebook. xxxx

littleboyblue · 19/11/2008 07:19

littlesez I didn't have GTT either and I asked the same thing on here the other day and the response was that it probably differs in different areas and obviously if you are at risk of gestational diabetes, i.e. overweight, diabetes in family etc.
Your blood sugar levels are checked in your routine bloods at 28 wks anyway so any probs will be picked up thru that, urine samps and blood pressure.

TinksMum I hope you feel better soon. Stay strong. X

spottyshoes · 19/11/2008 07:22

Missed so much - again 10 MORE WORKING DAYS TO GO - yipeeeee!

DH has an interview this morning for a new job that would mean I could be a permanent SAHM! I reeeeeally need want him to get it so I can stay at home and have lots more babies devote more time tending to his every need So lots of positive interview-ey vibes appreciated!

Just really quickly scanned posts and saw TBM followed by (I am a mum!) and nearly had heart failure - must learn to read properly. Hope you feel a bit better soon chick x

Was going to ask about GTT too Littlesez - It has never been mentioned to me and I dont know anyone in RL who has had it - yet it seems commonplace on here! (along with tandem feeding and real nappies it would seem )

I think they guess at babies size too - My MW told me over 8.7lbs, hospital scan said about 4lb ish. He was 6.12 . None of the babies in my family have been over 7.12 so I'm hoping I'm not going to have a rogue large one! Some random 12lb-er

Hope everyone else is well. I'm staaaarving so off to search for brekkie!

dinkystinky · 19/11/2008 08:39

Morning all.

Tink - sorry you're feeling blue and totally appreciate you feel the need for space right now - who wouldnt? Come back to us when/if you feel up to it - you know we're a big warm fluffy cushion of love and support as and when you need it.. and your advice in the past has been invaluable to a number of us, so would be sad for the group to lose you permanently

Spotty - sending your hubby lots of good interview vibes right now [concentrating emoticon]

KT1983 · 19/11/2008 09:21

morning all,

Sorry to hear that you are feeling down Tink - lots of love heading your way

Hope everyone else is ok?

I just wanted to ask you all...perhaps its nothing to do with pregnancy & ive been overdoing it a little, but...
My coccyx is really sore & has been for a few months now.
Is this just another wonderful pregnancy ache? Or should I see a doc about it?
Its beginning to hurt alot more recently, especially when im sat down.
I feel as if Ive fallen down on my bum & bruised my tailbone really badly.

PinkTulips · 19/11/2008 10:11

with dd i was told during labour by the mw... 'you're lucky really, lots of women would love a small baby like this'... she was 7lbs4oz so while not a whopper not tiny either.

with ds i was huge and asked a few times what to expect size wise and the only one who'd give me a straight answer was my gp who said he'd be an 8 lber. right after he was born the mw took a look at him and said... 'oh, he's not that big, i wouldn't imagine he's much bigger than your daughter was'..... he turned out to be 8lbs 10oz when he was weighed so shows that even with the baby in front of them they haven't a clue most of the time!

still coughing and wheezing but think i might be a little better than yesterday (either that or my body is adjusting to feeling like crap ). dropped dd to playschool so at least she should wear off some energy today and ds is happily chasing kittens. am working up the energy to make a cuppa now.

KT, is it possible you bumped it a few months back and it is actually bruised?

nadssss · 19/11/2008 10:11

Hi everyone ? just catching up!

KT, my tailbone really aches as well ? like it is bruised. Odd isn?t it!

London meet-up ? I wish I could but I am away with work unfortunately?

Tink ? hope you are ok ? you are normally v. positive and helpful so if we can do anything to help you let us know

I had a 4D scan done with Baby Premier yesterday ? I really really recommend it for anyone wanting to throw some more money at the bump! The DVD and still images are pretty amazing.

catstar · 19/11/2008 10:25

KT1983 - I'm having similar tailbone pains. I find that it's ok during the weekend and when I'm active, then I get to work and because I have a desk job I think everything seizes up. If I;ve been sitting for a while, I really have to grit my teeth when I stand in anticipation of the pain. I think it's just another pregnancy ache, but don;t remember it from my first pregnancy.

TinksMum - take care - will miss all your support and hope you are getting lots xxx

KT1983 · 19/11/2008 10:26

PinkTulips - nah, definatly not bumped it - there is no visable bruise on it, just a pain!

Nadsss - Perhaps it is a pregnancy thing then & not just me.
I see the Midwife on Thursday, so I might ask her about it.
It seems the only time it doesnt hurt at the moment is when im lying down in bed (obviously as im on my side I guess)

Nadssss-You would be very impressed with the organisation skills ive got going on in my small flat at the moment - We took a trip to ikea...Storage galore...Trying to make room for all the baby stuff isnt easy, but im on a storage mission at the moment!! Secretly enjoy sorting everything actually - Even though it is depressing folding all my clothes away that are not going to fit for months!
