Not been on facebook over last couple of days - whats the latest consensus on the January London meet up?

TinkerBellesMum · 04/12/2008 12:43

Morning all.

Mum is taking the side off of Tink's cot because she keeps climbing out (ever had that feeling you're being watched in your sleep?) so it's probably safer and it's not like it's keeping her in. I'd planned on leaving her in the cot as long as possible, we have a crib for the baby and will cosleep for awhile anyway so I will move her into her own bed to fit in with her and hopefully by the time the baby needs her cot it will be her old cot and she won't worry about it.

KT, stick some ice on her head, she'll soon move.

MS, I couldn't find a clean bra the other day so put an underwired one on, I thought I'd be glad but it hurt so much! I can't believe I ever wore them. (Although it might be a little bit to do with the fact that it was only a 34F and I'm probably a 36HH/J now)

Agree with dinky's advice on bras. You need to be able to put your hand inside at the top of the cup (as if you're swearing to something, IYSWIM) as that's where you will fill out. Wait till 38 weeks or when your baby is born if before. You need to clip in on the loosest setting (totally against normal bra advice which says middle setting to allow you or your bra to grow or to shrink) because your ribs will expand 2" over pregnancy that you will lose quite quickly. If you are nursing then you will need to change your bra daily so 3 is a good number to have (wash, wear, dry) but the more you have the less wear the bra will get and they won't stand up to too much washing if you don't have enough.

I'm currently feeling old as I've been trying to set myself up with Ring & Ride! I'm also looking into a Blue Badge and mobility and trying to get my HA to install some handrails.

TinkerBellesMum · 04/12/2008 12:43

now have images of American women with their hands in their bra [hgrin]

TinkerBellesMum · 04/12/2008 12:48

Duh, I meant

laidbackinengland · 04/12/2008 13:04

Sympathies to all who are ill or have ill children. Being ill just seems part of daily life at the moment. I have had various coughs/colds/sinus problems/vomiting for almost 3 months. My current illness of choice involves vomiting - although I will spare you the vile details.

I am determined to get it sorted in the next 7 weeks before this baby arrives. Am off to GP this afternoon for DRUGS ! I don't normally take anything , but I got up this morning for work and cried as I felt so shit. Most unlike me. Have bought some Spatone as midwife tells me I am borderline anaemic . The good news is baby is currently head down and she is measuring ok for dates and all seems OK . [self-obsessed rant over].

My bras all feel tight, I may have a little spend up (for medicinal purposes!).

theHoHoHouseofmirth · 04/12/2008 13:58

Afternon! It's lovey and sunny here.

Have half heartedly started doing hospital bag this week as I had some back ache the other days which was vaguley reminiscent of labour, but not, but it kind of got me thinking this baby is unlikely to stay in my tummy forever and no one else is going to pacd the bag for me. Bought 3 vests and 3 sleep suits, 1 pack of maternity pads (see what I mean about being half hearted) and a new toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste. If anyone sees a black lightweight dressing gown on their shopping travels, please can you let me know?

Dinky consensus on London meet up is 19th Jan and I think we're going for a lunchtime so the out of towners can get in and not have deal with the rush hour and to enable those still at work to pop in if they're near enough. Though personally I still think you should all book the afternoon off as an antenatal appointment. Afterall, it's going to be ante natal and it's an appointment...

chilledmama · 04/12/2008 14:00

Am currently breach but as I'm only 28 weeks I still have plenty of time to fix that one...ice cubes out tonight me thinks!! On the positive note it does mean that my bladder isn't being knocked continuously!

Have we started the next thread yet??

chilledmama · 04/12/2008 14:03

there is a possibility that I could make the meet up on the 19th [mischevious emoticon]
I just need to persuade DH that he wants to do the Xmas shopping on his own...

KT1983 · 04/12/2008 14:09

chilledmama - Should the baby be headdown by a certain week? Or does it just all depend on baby?
Im going to get some ice on her head tonight too
and sit with my bum in the air for a good 20mins or so....She WILL turn!!

LittleMissNorty · 04/12/2008 14:09

Meet-up is 19th Jan Chilled - so might be a bit late for Xmas shopping ....unless its for Xmas 2009 of course

3 vests and 3 sleepsuits lasted me a morning when I had DD.....something to do with a fumbling first time mum not changing nappies very well I think

theHoHoHouseofmirth · 04/12/2008 14:15

Oh god I know it's not enough but I am still in denial about having another baby so it's my way of edging comfortably towards it! And hopefully I'll actually discover wtf I've done with all DS1's sleep stuff and vests before I buy any more!

jenniferturkington · 04/12/2008 14:17

Hello all, I've not posted for ages (again)! Sorry about all the illness knocking around at the moment, I'm fine but DS has hacking cough which is keeping us all awake through the nights at the moment Actually, even when he is asleep it is taking me forever to drop off, I?m just so uncomfortable- can't believe I've another 10 weeks of this to get even bigger! Laidback I'm also knocking back the Spatone at the moment, apparently my iron level is pretty low, in fact too low for homebirth at the moment- midwife thinks it should be fine though as we have enough time to bring levels back up. I have been reading the names discussion on FB with interest- we are no closer to deciding a name than we were at the start! I?m thinking I will call her one thing and DH can call her whatever he likes as he seems so dismissive of any suggestions.

stacysmom · 04/12/2008 14:26

Dinky - thanks for the advice on the nursing bras, I was wondering when I ought to start stocking up.

Any other first-timers out there with 10 weeks to go and not a jot of baby-related things in the house? Or is just me?

dinkystinky · 04/12/2008 14:28

Hi all. Laidback - so sorry you're still suffering.

A lunchtime meet up on 19 Jan works for me!

As we're all so chatty, have opened up the new thread (starts Jingle Bells, mysterious smells) so everyone can migrate over there before we run out of space totally on this thread.

Staceysmom - 10 weeks is plenty of time to fill your house with baby related tat

stacysmom · 04/12/2008 14:33

Good news!

Now I just need little one to stay put!

dinkystinky · 04/12/2008 14:37

Come on everyone - all over to the new thread now (first one there gets a virtual mince pie; last one there gets the virtual sprouts - with no gravy....)

TinkerBellesMum · 04/12/2008 14:46

THOM, if I'm still pregnant I'll be 38 weeks and having the baby around there! I think a lot of us will be postnatal by then. Can you believe it, it's so close now! I can't believe how fast this pregnancy has gone. I may try and join you but it all depends what is happening with the baby.

Chilled, moving the baby at 28 weeks isn't about birth, it's not comfortable for either of you if baby is breech. You have head in your ribs, baby is probably sitting on the edge of your pelvis and swinging her feet inside it. I found Tink was constantly kicking my bladder, whereas this one is just kicking my ribs but at least I can breathe!

KT, babies can turn during labour, it's just, as I've just said, not comfortable when they're breech. Don't let them tell you at 38 weeks (not that I think you will get that far and still be breech, I'm just saying) that you need a CS because of a breech baby, babies will turn when they're ready.

KT1983 · 04/12/2008 14:49

Thanks TBM - I really dont want a CS, so I will def not agree to that until it becomes absolutly necessary.

Whats the new thread title anyone??

dinkystinky · 04/12/2008 14:54

Jingle Bells, Mysterious Smells, Fab Feb 2009 babies will soon be on their way...

get over there ladies...
