lots and lots of positive vibes going in your direction.. hope you are getting all the support you deserve.x.

KT1983 · 19/11/2008 10:43

Catstar - Rubbish that weve got another ache & pain, but glad im not alone. I wasnt sure if it was a pregnancy thing or not.
I guess it must be to do with all the pressure down there or something.

Ive got a pretty active job, so when im walking about etc is fine, but its on the evenings that I suffer just sat on the sofa - standing up bit is definatly the worst.

nadssss · 19/11/2008 10:44

But KT I thought I read that you were moving to a big house! I only skimmed through this morning so I may be mistaken. I was very jealous when I read it though!

My plan is to wait for the January sales before buying some of those cute wicker storage boxes for nappies, babies clothes etc.

I have definitely not bumped my tailbone either ? and the pain comes and goes. I did read about it in one of my preg books and it?s normal apparently. It does feel better if I make the effort and go to yoga?

KazzaL · 19/11/2008 10:44

catstar & KT - I have something similar - all connected with my SPD and so my physio recommended a wobble cushion. It's a cross between a gym/birthing ball and a whoopee cushion. I sit on it on my chair at work and just wiggle around to keep my pelvis from ceasing up. It works great as long as I remember to wiggle. I got it from ebay.

KT very jealous - I need a trip to Ikea as DH wants me to sort out the utility room as it is always has piles of clothes sorted ready for washing. He wants some kind of container system to keep it all tidy. He's much more tidy than me and although I am quite tidy, sometimes things need to be out and in piles cos I'm doing somehting with them

TBM take as much time as you need, we'll all be here when you feel more perky

KT1983 · 19/11/2008 11:13

Nadsss - yeah we are its lovely!! Very excited about it.
But ive become all organised in the flat to sort everything so an easy move!
Got loads of storage bags for clothes, storage boxes to help move stuff easier...

going to have to take a few trips to & from Kettering with car loads & then a big transit full on move day!

Im like Monica from Friends - il be wearing a headset & lists left right & centre

KT1983 · 19/11/2008 11:15

KazzaL - What is SPD?
ooohhh...you should go to Ikea I find it quite sad that I get so excited about going there on shopping trips

nadssss · 19/11/2008 11:53

SPD is basically pain in your pelvis I think ? any pain in groin, pelvis etc. I think it can be pretty bad for some poor preg women ? as it they struggle to get up and down stairs etc and can?t sleep with the pain.

Questionkid · 19/11/2008 11:54

I've got a really sore coccyx too, and also find it's much worse after a day sitting in my chair at work. I'm like an old lady when I get up, I have to ease myself up to protect my sore bum and hips/thighs. I must admit, whilst I'm really enjoying being pregnant on the whole, that's the bit I don't like, all the aches. And the multiple nightly trips to the loo, that bugs me.

I read in an email update on being 29 weeks pregnant yesterday that I should be eating at least another 200 calories a day from now on - hooray, bring it on!

All you ladies who haven't been sent for GTT, don't worry about it, it's not standard across the country. And any diabetes indicators will be picked up in other ways if you've got them.

I was getting worried about the fact that you've all been told approximately how big your baby is now, and is going to be, and I've never been told that at any point. They just have a good feel around and seem to be happy with what they feel. I've just accepted now that it's different depending on where you live. I'm booked in for a scan at 34 weeks as my rather fat tummy makes it harder to assess size so they want to do it via a scan. So it's definitely all handled differently in different parts of the country.

littleboyblue · 19/11/2008 12:06

Hiya. To all those having coccyx/lower back pain, me too, and had it really bad with ds. Think it must have something to do with the extra weight, pressure and strain everything is under.
Questionkid I'm gonna assume that you're no more than about 29 weeks, and I've been told it is far too early to determine birth weight at this stage. I've been told to expect a big baby as ds was quite big, but there's also the genetic thing, me and dp are both 6 foot and our families are all big too so wouldn't expect a small baby. I'm being scanned at 34 weeks too.

Questionkid · 19/11/2008 12:25

Hi LBB - yes, I was 29 weeks yesterday. I thought it was probably too early to tell, and as it's my first they've got nothing to go by. My DH is 6ft2 and was a 10lber so knowing my luck his genes will take over, but I'm not going to worry about it until that 34 week scan and see what they say then. Judging by what a lot of the ladies on here are saying they rarely get it right anyway so I reckon I'll take it all with a pinch of salt.

littleboyblue · 19/11/2008 12:28

Sure it'll be ok, but yes, agree that they probably make everything up as they go along.
Talking about genetics, my dad was over 12lbs when he was born but I was 5lbs 8oz.

chilledmama · 19/11/2008 13:19

I had mild SPD in last pgregnancy so now old hat

The coccyx pain is caused by your tail bone movement being restricted because your ligaments have loosened so much that your sacrum is no longer where it should be.
Pain at the front (on your pubic bome) is caused by the pubic bone coming apart...perfectly normal in pg but happens to greater degree in some women therefore the pain...we are literally coming apart!!!

Interestingly SPD is now being referred to as PGP (Pelvic Girdle Pain) as though that clarifies it????

spottyshoes · 19/11/2008 14:10

I have the 'bum pain' thing which sounds exactly as Catstar described. Only in the office - guess I dont sit down enough at home

Thanks for the vibes Dinky. Interview is over and seemed to go well but very quickly which made him think it was a formality and someone was already lined up for it. Oh well, should hear by the weekend.

KT1983 · 19/11/2008 14:18

Thanks chilledmama - That explains it for me.
I did wonder if ive just been sitting down wrong or something.

I know what you mean QuestionKid - On the whole iv enjoyed/am enjoying being pregnant - its just the little niggles like this that bug me!

Oh & GUESS WHAT.....Ive only 23 days left until I finish work - YEY!!!
We have just been told the gym is closing from the 22nd December

herbgarden · 19/11/2008 14:20

I asked my midwife re GTT this morning and she said that they only do it in our county if there is a reason to do it - not as a matter of courseshe would rather they do the strep B test as a matter of course (which they don't do).Interesting. Anyway, all ok at appointment.

I am apparently measuring "normal" - 26cm for a 28 weeker. Although my mate tells me that the midwives and our doctor measure the bump differently. Who knows - I seem to be about the same size as last time, growing at an average rate and ds was just under 7lbs....were all fairly diddy in our family so if I produced a whopper I think someone might wonder what was going on.

Had 2 attempts at the bloods as ds insisted on sitting on my knee so I was trying to hold him too.....unpleasant.

I made a wee trip to ikea last week but ended up not being able to make my mind up as to what I wanted. We need storage systems and a chest of drawers etc etc so I think I might browse on line and then get one big delivery. It was all a bit overwhelming tbh (I was on my own as it was a dh work day and ds was with granny).

I've been suffering with sciatic nerve down my leg and when I sit down my coccyx feels bruised - I figured it was all connected.

New carpet arrives tomorrow I'm very excited.

Tink - sorry you're leaving us for a while but come back soon when you're up to it !

Off to see Granny this pm so maybe I might be able to put my feet up whilst she entertains ds !

mslucy · 19/11/2008 14:56

TBM don't go.
You leaving the group would be like the ravens leaving the Tower of London.
Is there anything we can do to cheer you up?

eejaykay · 19/11/2008 15:38

Just to say we'll miss you Tink, I hope you have lots of support and are back to feistiness in good time.

PinkTulips · 19/11/2008 15:39

lbb... when did you come back to us?! how did the house move go?

littleboyblue · 19/11/2008 15:45

Hi PinkTulips I came back over the weekend, didn't think anyone would remember me . The move went well thank you. I doesn't need decorating straight away which is nice so making it home bit by bit as ans when can afford to.
So pleased we're having another boy so they can share a room forever and I won't have to move again!!
Weird in a new area, still don't really know anyone but we'll get there.

herbgarden I think they should do Strep B test as standard. I'd rather that than GTT as diabetes can be picked up in other tests. If I'm understanding what GTT actually is.

dinkystinky · 19/11/2008 16:05

Hello all.

Those of you with lower back/coccyx pain - you need to mobilise that area to stop it locking up. Try the cat stretch (basically, down on your hands and knees and dipping and rounding your back - works your lower back brilliantly and stretches things out - can modify it by when you round your back sitting back towards your ankles abit to increase the lower back stretch then straightening forward) and pelvic circles/figures of 8 (either standing up or on a birth/exercise ball) - works a treat. Though would recommend doing it at home with the curtains closed rather than in the office! Had it something chronic with DS but havent had it at all this time round (so far - touch wood) as have been making sure I keep my lower back all nice and stretched out through these exercises. If that doesnt work, get yourself a chiropractor referral and they should sort it out in a jiffy.

Sciatica - not too much you can do for it but you can try holding onto work surface in kitchen and putting one foot behind you (top of foot down on floor) and jiggling the leg around a bit - can sometimes bring relief according to my pregnancy yoga teacher.

Pinktulips - you sound a little more human today. Fingers crossed you are on the mend hon.

mslucy · 19/11/2008 16:36

hey dinky.

have you decided on 6:30 for next thurs?
should be fine for me.

MarkStretch · 19/11/2008 17:16

DD is with ex-DP waiting for their flight to Ireland.

I hate this bit.

I am not a good flyer.

I need gin.

I can't have gin.

Where's the cake?

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 19/11/2008 17:16

Hi MsLucy - yep, 6.30 it is. So far we have me, you, Eejaykay, Catstar and (subject to confiming time is ok) Swampster. Any other London (or surrounds) mumsnet takers??? Though doubt will be needed, may book a table under name of "dinky" for 6.30 next Thursday at Malabar Junction so would be good to have an idea of numbers.

Would say wear a pink carnation to identify yourselves (a la all the best spy novels) but think we may rather stand out with our bumps. For what its worth, will wear black trousers and a purple top next Thursday so you can identify me (am 5 ft 4, indian with black hair, with quite a few grey ones in there, and of course an enormous bump out front)

dinkystinky · 19/11/2008 17:18

Hey Markstretch - you're not flying hon so no need to stress quite so much. Your DD is in good hands with your ex-DP and she's flown lots. Have a nice cup of hot chocolate and piece of cake and all will seem much better

MarkStretch · 19/11/2008 17:23

I'm having a cup of tea and have shovelled ben and jerry's into my face.

I don't like it when she's awaaaaaaaaaaaay.
