MS, I sincerely hope that it is icecream that you are shoving into your face. Please remember, this is a family website!
TMB, so sorry to read you are so down but hope you reconsider and keep in touch.
Sorry to read about all the aches and pains everyone is suffering from.

onwardandoutward · 19/11/2008 17:55

lol at mumoverseas.

Lady, you have a filthy mind.

mumoverseas · 19/11/2008 17:58

excuse me! I just thought I should clarify just exactly what MS was gobbling! Your comment clearly illustrates your mind is as filthy as mine!!!!
Please don't report me to MNHQ, I've already had that once this month!

MarkStretch · 19/11/2008 18:02

Oooooh what did you do?

OP posts:
spottyshoes · 19/11/2008 18:07

PMSL (easily done these days with my pelvic floor )

Yes MOM what did you do??

spottyshoes · 19/11/2008 18:07

Clearly I meant MOS!

mumoverseas · 19/11/2008 18:18

all I did was set some silly (bitch) lady straight on one of the legal/relationship threads. She thought she knew it all (not the OP) and was giving crap advice so I very nicely pointed out the correct laws/proceedures etc. She then got all shitty with me and said along the lines of 'how do you know, are you a lawyer or something?' I merely replied to her direct question saying yes, I am a lawyer, have specialised in family law for over 10 years, am also a qualified mediator and therefore I like to think I know the law when it comes to that area. (children/family court applications) I then commented that maybe she should change her name to nosy- as opposed to bossy- and she got all shirty!
My post was deleted but MNHQ emailed me saying it was a shame as my advice was really good but she was ranting and raving because I said she was nosy! (ie demanding to know how I knew stuff!) stupid cow! That does actually but me on here. People ask for advice, you give it to them and then someone else who clearly knows bugger all about the subject starts telling you that you are wrong! The classic was last week when a woman gave her 'expert legal advice' on the basis of something she'd seen on the Jeremy Kyle show which she watches every day!
sorry, not very exciting!

mumoverseas · 19/11/2008 18:22

By the way, just to gloat, I've done nearly ALL my xmas shopping today. Debenhams has 25% off today, tomorrow and Friday which has saved me a fortune! (baby clothes and toys too!)

MarkStretch · 19/11/2008 18:37

She's arrived. Phew.

Now you can all laugh at my predicament.

A couple of weeks ago we ordered new sofas. We got a text message to say they would be arriving tomorrow between 8 and 11.

So we freecycled the old ones. Except we did it too late, thought no one wanted them, so rang Harveys and cancelled our delivery to be arranged at a later date.

Now someone wants the sofas and they're collecting them tonight. And we have no new sofas.

I will be a fat pregnant lady sitting on a camping chair for the foreseeable future

MarkStretch · 19/11/2008 18:38

MOS I love your rebellious streak

And at your christmas shopping!

OP posts:
PinkTulips · 19/11/2008 18:56

awwwww, poor MS. if the sofas are there to be delivered could you chance your arm ringing harveys and seeing if they'd still be willing to deliver them tomorrow? either that or get on freecycle yourself and bag a nice comfy armchair off someone.

glad your dd made it safe and sound, hope she has fun being spoiled by her dad and gran again

MOS, i was going so good on my xmas shoppping but seem to have ground to a halt for the forseeable future due to finances going tits up. at least the kids are pretty much sorted so everyone else can feck offf as far as i'm concerned

onwardandoutward · 19/11/2008 19:35

Join the boho set with me, markstretch

This is our first unfurnished rental place and it is still, ahem, pretty much unfurnished. But that's the way (ahah ahah) I like it.

So no sofas, just mattresses to jump on

onwardandoutward · 19/11/2008 19:37

did I mention that we've agreed that our christmas will be entirely charity shop christmas this year? Really takes the financial pressure off when you know you can give your child a Dudley Dursley style pile of 25 presents when none of them cost more than 75p...

MarkStretch · 19/11/2008 19:41

We have two camping chairs, one of the matresses off the bunkbeds and a birthing ball!

I may start to like this!

spottyshoes · 19/11/2008 20:02

Why am I not up to speed on freecycle?? You can get SOFAS and stuff??? for FREE???

MamaGoose · 19/11/2008 20:16

Hello fab-Febbers,

Just calling after a few days away in Granada and Cordoba. Oh, it was so amazing. The Alhambra was fantastic! We cheekily took the boys out of school for a few days (would NEVER get away with that in the UK!!) and took them travelling. Wanted to have some special time with them before we four become five.

TBM - glad you are still up the duff!! But sorry you are feeling down.

London mums - I'm there in spirit, but it's a bit hard to commute from Spain.

Can't believe we're really on the home run now. But do hate this weight gain and my body! Know it's all the fat stores being laid down for breast-feeding, nine months on so nine months off etc but I'm now getting fat shoulders! Yuk!

xx

MarkStretch · 19/11/2008 20:19

I even have fat eyelids.

dinky stinky, I am in for the curry next Thursday.. have been answering the fb thread !

littleboyblue · 19/11/2008 21:27

I think I want to name change. When I joined, it was at the advice of a friend when I didn't know what I wanted to do about weaning.
I really should have picked something a bit more feminine but my mum used to tell ds a fairy tale about little boy blue which is where it came from. Anyway, now there's another one coming I feel I should acknowledge that I have 2 children or pick a name that doesn't refer to dcs at all.
But if I name change, no one will know it's still me.
Am I chatting s**t?
Must be having a moment
Bit random there, sorry!

mslucy · 19/11/2008 22:39

A terrible joke for all you lentil weavers out there (this may cheer you up TBM if you're still around).

Q. Why do hippies drink herbal tea?

A. Because all proper-tea is theft.

I also LOVE freecycle, more because it is a brilliant way of getting rid of the random tat that accumulates in this house.

People will take literally anything.

It's ace.

spottyshoes · 20/11/2008 07:31

Last time I got a fat chest! Not boobs - just above them, must have been fluid. I found it really weighty when I lay down and made breathing hard. iykwim

Go for it LBB, just make sure you post in your new name referring to your old so we know who you are If you have another DS you just need to become littleboysblue!

spottyshoes · 20/11/2008 07:33

So how do you go about freecycling - and can you give stuff in any condition? All our fairly decent hardly used stuff gets ebayed to make a few £££'s but I have loads of used stuff that I would like to get rid of!

mumoverseas · 20/11/2008 08:21

morning all.
MS sorry you are stressed about sofas and your DD. I totally understand how you feel about her going. My eldest two (now 15 and 12) were very young when I divorced their (good for nothing!) father and it was really hard the first few times that they went away with him. Trouble is, now I want him to take them and have quality time with them he hardly gives a stuff. The 6 months before I moved to the Middle East he saw them once even though he was living 3 miles away! arse! Glad she is ok though, how old is she and when will she be back?
Hope you sort your sofa issues though.
spotty, like you I don't understand this freecycling thing, have I been away from the real world too long? Have loads of stuff in my house I need to get rid of. A lot had been dumped in our guest room which will have to be a nursery in a few months!
sorry to make you jealous about my xmas shopping. I just had a sudden burst of energy (and a car to drive! hurrah!) and just went for it. I did however have my 15 year old DS to help and he was great, he carried loads of bags and went back to the car 4 times to put stuff in there. Did it all between 8am when Debenhams opened (still on Saudi time so up about 5am) and left at 1pm (fitted in a fry up at Debenhams and a costa though!)
Hope everyone has a good day x

dinkystinky · 20/11/2008 08:49

Morning all. Nkweto - great news you're joining us next Thursday. Brings the total up to 6. MUST check out the FB thread - keep meaning to but home computer is acting up at the moment. Any other takers? America, Scubagroover, Cocodrillo, Lurkers?

Markstretch - sounds tres trailer park chic (a la Joey and Chandler from friends after they're robbed). It'll be all the rage come 2009!

MOS - am amazed at your Debenhams sale efficiency (and your 15 year old for helping out so readily - how on earth did you get him trained to be so helpful when it comes to shopping???). Have most of the family's xmas presents sorted - is just the wider circle of family friends to sort out now.. What a silly moose on the other thread - I tend to try to avoid giving legal advice on mumsnet for just that reason (I just direct people to CAB or local law centre, where they wont get conflicting advice from all and sundry): mind you not too much call for corporate law advice on mumsnet!

MamaGoose - glad you had a wonderful break. The Alhambra is absolutely amazing isnt it - and it must have been lovely at this time of year when not absolutely heaving with tourists.

Had my personal training session last night when DS was in bed (first one in about 4 weeks) and was very pleased when trainer said I didnt look like I'd put much weight on since she'd last seen me - mind you, she seemed to be having trouble seeing my punches coming during boxing training (the kicking training is well and truly out now due to the bump) so maybe her eyes need testing

swampster · 20/11/2008 08:58

Sorry, curry-eaters, I won't be able to make it.
