So glad u are feeling better frekkles - stay around for support if you need it

Springy I need a daytime nap too..just working these days so can't do it. If ind it v frustrating. If left to my own devices I sleep for 10-14 hours a night and about 2 in the day too. I'm rubbish when sleep deprived so a very grumpy mummmy with little baby - or at least I was last time. Hopefully better this time

AuldAlliance · 21/11/2008 19:47

Hi everyone,
Frekkles, glad to hear you're feeling a bit better. Hope you have a good weekend. Feel free to rant and moan.

I feel a bit like moaning, too, though not for at all the same reasons, just because things are really depressing at work at the moment. I came home very down and was therefore snappy with DS, which I really regret. DH works very long hours and won't be back till late. If I could have a wee glass of red wine, I would, but the only alcohol in the house is whisky, which I feel is going a bit far...

SpringySunshine · 21/11/2008 20:14

Boffin I came on just now all tearful, but am much cheered by your tales of jacuzzi sharing with Kilroy.

WRT drinking in public, I never go out anywhere anymore, so it's not cropped up for me yet. I suppose I should be grateful.

frekkles I'm glad you're feeling more positive today & got to hear the heartbeat - I've still not heard mine! Feel free to come & rant; it's really nice for us all to know that there's a safe space to have a good moan & cry if we need to. I keep contemplating it, but don't have the real need yet. Maybe soon - something for you all to look forward to ladies

Evening All,

Sorry that I haven't been on here for a while. I've been feeling really poorly and finally got to see a doctor today. He thinks that I'm anaemic and is sending me for blood tests. He was so lovely, really patient and genuinely interested in how I am. He looked after me during my last pg and seems to want to look after me again even though he isn't my registered doctor.

A little update on the prospect of having my MIL there at the birth...Having spoken to my DH about it, we decided that we would like to have her there and I spoke to her tonight about it. I don't think that she is bothered about doing any midwifely duties but would love to be there to support me and DH. It's quite a relief as I've been really worried about how DH will cope given that he has fainted in the past when I was having a cannula put in Her first words were that she would be happy to be there and be an advocate for me but would remain unobtrusive. I thought it was really sweet that she said that. I feel more confident knowing that I'll have someone there to keep an eye on DH and someone who has over 30 years experience as a midwife will be a birthing partner for me! For all of her little faults, I think that it will be brilliant if we can get her here on time.

salstars · 22/11/2008 08:09

Hello all, I feel guilty as I haven't posted since a couple of months ago... sorry for abandoning you all. I've tried to read some of the thread but there's a lot of catching up to do!

I'm 20 weeks today and v. glad that it's the halfway mark. I haven't really enjoyed the first half of the pg, but am starting to get a bit more excited now as I have felt a few flutters in the past week and I have a scan on Thurs when I will hopefully find out if it's a boy or girl.

I'm still in my normal clothes but have started to get a bump so I guess I'll have to start shopping soon.

DP has been wonderful and there have been too many evenings to recount when I have come home from work, starving and tearful, and he has cooked me a meal while I languish on the kitchen floor (seriously!) or on the sofa. I'm thinking that he will be a star when it comes to labour/birth.

Anyone else reach a crisis point when you haven't eaten and your brain just seems to shut down completely?

brettgirl2 · 22/11/2008 10:09

I haven't really posted but I have been lurking, when I've had a few minutes to spare.

Frekkles, I think that the most important thing to do is to tell your housemates, not your ex. When they prove to be supportive you will feel a hell of a lot better (because you need somewhere stable to live). Then you will feel stronger to tell your ex. He is not your responsibility, so there is no need to feel that he should know first. I'm not surprised you're a bit messed up - I've been with my OH for 10 years and I have still felt strangely insecure because for the first time ever I feel dependent on him. I think in a new relationship deciding if it is right is definitely the most sensible course of action.

I have 20 week scan on Tuesday - like several others I will be 20+2 - maybe we are all underestimating the NHS!

Cosmogirl · 22/11/2008 10:58

Hi ladies,

Had my second scan yesterday (21+3) and all was well - we were very relieved as had been sooo nervous before we were called in. Kept waiting 20 mins as well which didn't help.

We asked to find out the sex and the lady said it is a girl! Could see the three white lines that are meant to indicate girl and didn't seem to be any signs of appendages...still, although I think she is right it is hard to trust it because you always hear of people who were told one thing and then baby was born and was opposite sex. Have looked at some pics on net tho and on the boy scans the willies do seem to be quite obvious....

Ah well, I think we will buy a few pink things. Good luck to everyone else with upcoming scans. It is very exciting. Just need the nausea to go away now so I can enjoy the rest of the preg and get organised.

BabyBolat · 22/11/2008 13:36

Ah Cosmo that's great - did you want a girl?

Frekkles so glad you are feeling happier - that little heartbeat does put it all in to perspective I guess!

Well this morning I woke up to a wet t-shirt where I had 'leaked' in the night (beautiful!!!) So I padded up now to avoid that happening in public!

However the most exciting thing of all was that while feeling sorry for myself in the bath this morning (had sickness again and generally felt crap) I SAW the baby kick, my tummy definitely moved and there was definite sweeping across the top of the tummy - was so excited, me and DH ended up staring at it in there for so long the water went all cold! Didn't expect to see that doe ages! weird but great all at the same time!!!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Cosmogirl · 22/11/2008 18:05

Hi BB,

Yep I was hoping for a girl tbh and did think from the start that it would be. Just not sure whether to buy too much gender specific stuff until we know for definite though...

Wow about the leakage! I thought I had the same thing last night but turned out when I checked it wasn't, so not sure what happened. I was sleeping on my side and my arm suddenly felt slightly wet. Weird!

Feeling really sicky today, so think I am going to get an early night and watch Strictly in bed and hope tomorrow is less sicky. I am honestly so looking forward to not feeling sick every day when this baby is out! I miss eating like a normal person...

mathsmummy27 · 22/11/2008 18:09

Lovely news Cosmo! And well done on the movement BB, so exciting

Who else fancies watching Strictly with us? We have a blanket, a pot of tea, and am cooking some chicken....

SpringySunshine · 22/11/2008 18:47

Swaliswan I'm impressed at your relationship with your MIL! She sounds lovely. Mine's already bought a cot & things, which is nice, but I feel a bit like she's forcing the issue. I don't want the cot she's chosen, but I'm not sure how I'm going to tactfully put that across. Especially when I don't want half of the rest of the stuff she's been gathering. I do know that she means well & I'm not ungrateful, but she's not consulted me about any of it at all.

salstars How are you possibly still in your normal clothes? I am really, really envious! I miss my lovely old clothes so much already

Cosmo Yay for a lovely little girl! I was in Costa earlier & there were two gorgeous baby girls in there. One of them kept trying to talk to me & was grinning & flinging her arms around. Oh, I'm so impatient! I still feel weird about the idea of possibly growing a willy inside me, but I'll hopefully know in a couple of days too. I really don't think that I have a preference, which is good. Although there's a lot of pressure from MIL for a girl - like there's anything I can do about it.

BabyBolat Leaking already? Wow. It all just gets so much more glamorous. I think I'll have to mention it to DP so he doesn't freak out if it suddenly happens to me. I saw my tummy move a couple of days ago. I was lying on the sofa with my top pulled up & I was prodding the poor thing (I love chasing it around with a proddy finger & feeling it kick back in retaliation [evil grin]) & all of a sudden my tummy moved about a centimetre upwards for a split second. I actually squealed in surprise. Serves me right, I suppose

mathsmummy I'll join you. I don't usually watch Strictly, but the blanket & tea have enticed me. I'll bring biscuits to offer around after the chicken. What kind of chicken are you making?

gingersarah · 22/11/2008 18:52

hi everyone,

BRR! It's cold - but I am quite enjoying it and looking forward to a cosy dinner. Frekkles - glad to hear you are feeling better - hearing the heartbeat is magical.
does anyone know when the baby decides which way round it is going to be? and what, if anything, you can do about it?
babyBolat - i am jealous of your kicks!

SnoozyVic · 22/11/2008 18:55

Oooh, that chicken smells gorgeous Mathsmummy, I really don't fancy leaving cosy sofa and facing chilly kitchen. Are we having it on trays in front of the telly?

Springy - I'm not sure how I'm still in my old clothes. There are a couple of pairs of trousers I can't wear and my jeans are bit uncomfortable, but I mostly wear skirts & dresses anyway and all still fit - even a slim-fitting pencil skirt that I keep expecting not to be able to do up! I keep looking in maternity depts in shops but everything looks huge. And I'm not small - size 14 with 34J boobs (which are one thing that has grown in the first few months, but they were pretty big anyway)!

I was with you all watching Strictly last night - thank goodness the whole John Sargeant saga is over - I'm so bored of it!

BabyBolat · 23/11/2008 09:16

Ah I do love the sergeant but I am VERY VERY glad Rachel has gone from X factor! I still have one pair of jeans and a couple of dresses that fit but on the whole - definitely on to the stretchy trousers!

Ah it's my birthday today and DH just gave me a birthday card from the bump - very very cute. That's got him some serious brownie points for today!

Hope you are all having a good day

BBx

Welcome pintofstella How are you?

Good afternoon everyone. I loved the snow this mornng, pity it didn't settle. I am starting to feel really Christmassy.

OP posts:
SpringySunshine · 23/11/2008 13:48

Welcome pintofstella! Yet another person in the first half of the month - most of the regular posters are. This thread will be completely dead by the end of April!

BabyBolat - your DH is so cute! Bless. I was thinking the other day - we're all going to just miss Mother's Day this time around. I think I might still try to get in on it anyway. I at least want breakfast in bed out of it

Happy birthday, by the way

WRT snow - we've still had NONE at all. Everyone else has had some, even if it's not settled, but I'm yet to see any. I'm completely gutted

Nutty - sneaky, but good ideas! I doubt I can use that sort of thing too much, but I may be able to get away with it once or twice on the most important things. I just have to hope that DP will back me up on it

PuzzleRocks · 23/11/2008 14:01

Oi Springy! Do you mean I will be left here wittering away on my own, waitng for my baby!!

OP posts:
SpringySunshine · 23/11/2008 14:16

That's not what I meant at all. Of course we won't just abandon you

Anyway, as I've said before, I've been watching the Due in Nov thread - the women due at the end of the month tended to have theirs first - it's the people due around the time that I am that are still waiting

Swaliswan · 23/11/2008 14:37

I'll still be here with you PuzzleRocks! Maybe we will have our babies first and the people due at the beginning of the month will be getting all jealous!
