Hi everyone!

Freckles - Don't worry, I'm a size 16-18!! I can't fit into any of my trousers and jeans any more now either. I'm currently wearing a pair of jeans with the top buttons undone and an elastic belt keeping the whole thing together - attractive!!! I did go out shopping a couple of weeks ago though and found a pair of black smart trousers (for work) that fitted quite well, but were a size bigger than usual and the fabric had a bit of stretch. I think they'll do for another month then it'll have to be the maternity jeans...

Gingersarah - I told my boss last week, but nobody else at work knows yet since I feel sort of embarrassed to tell them!! It's quite a strange situation, but I suppose I'll have to let it out of the bag soon. I think people have just been thinking that I've been eating too many pies recently!

Just had a large lunch and even my unbuttoned jeans are feeling a bit tight....

Carameli · 30/10/2008 12:24

can I be added onto the 28th April? Only been posting every so often due to huge house redecorating, electricians and builders all over the place here and looking after a 5yr old on half term and a nearly 2yr old perhaps this is good preparation for having another lo to run around after.

hope everyone is well here. Is anyone else on their 3rd? Do you sometimes get overwhelmed by the thought of 3? I was at a party with dd(5yrs) last weekend and one woman had 5! and I am worrying over 3

SpringySunshine · 30/10/2008 12:26

Ooh, loving the new thread title.

I had to tell people at my uni before I even started, when I was about 6 weeks. I had to make sure that I'd be able to get enough time off, etc.

Speaking of which (this is about to get a bit MEMEME, so I apologise), I've had to miss a seminar this morning (so annoying) because I had to make a sudden dash to the GP. I got my test results through this morning for Downs & my urine from last week. Downs is 'low risk' (which is obviously fantastic, although not unexpected) but I have a urinary tract infection, which I knew was a possibility.

The stumbling block, however, is that every type of antibiotics I've ever been tried on has resulted in a severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling, abdominal pains, vomiting) & made me feel much worse than whatever it's treating. So I went across to the doctor to re-explain this instead of just asking for the prescription. Surprisingly, I was seen pretty much immediately without an appointment, which really impressed me. But she explained that because I've not been experiencing all of the symptoms (I've had the very frequent need to urinate, but not any pain) that the infection may well be travelling up towards the baby & I need to take them. So basically I'm in a situation where I need to make myself incredibly ill (unless finally they've chosen an antibiotic that I'm not allergic to - fingers crossed!) for as long as I can so as to protect my baby. Motherly responsibility is rubbish.

& as for boobs & bumps, my boobs are massive. Yesterday I noticed that they'd grown yet again & are now unrecognisable to me. I think even DP's beginning to be a little scared by them I'm going to have to go for another bra fitting, I think. I've also pretty much entirely given up on normal clothes. There are a few tops that I can make fit & one pair of trousers, if I wear them low, but that's it. I'm living in extremely adjustable maternity wear, which somehow makes me look more pregnant than normal clothes.

SpringySunshine · 30/10/2008 12:28

Welcome Carameli!

Your life sounds far too busy for me - I'm only on my first pregnancy & I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed by the idea of one, let alone three! Especially with your house being redecorated! I think some of you ladies are complete saints to be able to cope with so much!

Reallytired · 30/10/2008 12:32

I'm due 25th April and I have still managed to avoid maternity clothes. I have a little boy who is 6 years 9 months.

Carameli · 30/10/2008 12:52

has anyone been to H&M maternity yet. I have not had a chance to look as the nearest one is High St Ken to me and I don't need it quite yet but wondered what their range was like at the moment. I got some fab trousers when I was pregnant with dd.

conkertree · 30/10/2008 14:00

gingersarah - i told mine last week as redundancy decisions are coming up and I thought I should say so they could factor that in.

all been nice about it - but just keep going on about the age gap being small - we did know that at the time of ttc though - dont see why it should bother anyone else.

mathsmummy - toast is the best thing in the world. mostly just with butter, but now and again some home made strawberry jam too.

purplemonkey - how about we make a deal then - I wont go any more than three days overdue if you agree not to deliver early, and that way hopefully we can both get it. Ended up on the ward with someone from my due Aug 07 thread last time although we didnt realise till after we were both out.

welcome to carameli - only on number 2 but wondering about juggling that - i've heard that fitting in your third is easier than going from 0 to 1 or 1 -2 but no idea how true that is.

most of my clothes seemed to be getting tight last week but seem to fit better again this week - hope thats nothing to worry about - could be that my appetite is just a bit less just now.

LuLuBai · 30/10/2008 14:38

Hello - I've heard the same thing about family size. Going from 0-1 is a huge shock. Going from 1 - 2 is double the work, but once you've got 2 it doesn't make much difference if you have 3, 4, 5... (or so I was told my a mother of 5!)

As for maternity clothes - haven't looked in H&M this time. Everyone always swears by their maternity stuff, and I see things when I'm not pregnant but whenI was pg before I never found anything there. Zara however....

LuLuBai · 30/10/2008 14:42

Oh and welcome Carameli. Best of luck with the building work. V. envious that you have it all underway -we are struggling to find builders to do our house (everything needs doing) and I'm desperate to get it done before the next baby.

BabyBolat · 30/10/2008 15:51

Hey everyone

Welcome to all you newbies!

Frekkles, ours wasn't planned either but have to think that it was obviously meant to be so have to be thankful for that and while we were planning on it for a couple of years time, now I am getting used to the idea, I can't imagine waiting for that long! I can't even imagine waiting 21 more weeks!!!

Carameli - I can't even imagine coping with one!

As for maternity clothes, am going to go shopping this weekend so will probably check out all the usual places then.

Springy - good luck with the antibiotics - hopefully they will be able to find something that doesn't have too bad a reaction!!!

conkertree · 30/10/2008 15:58

no way baby bolat - only 21 more weeks???? how did that happen???? aargh. actually its more like 25 for me so that sounds like quite a long time.

so glad christmas is involved this time round as i think this part of the year always goes past pretty quickly. 9 months is really quite a long time - am so glad we are not elephants with their gestational period.

BabyBolat · 30/10/2008 16:23

I know how scary - am 18+4 so rounding up!

25 is only 4 weeks more than 21 tho so not that much longer!!!

I am actually really pleased at the timing of the pregnancy - missed most of summer (bar a little bit of nausea at the end), Christmas will take up a lot of the time (and we wont be too big to enjoy it) and that horrible time in Jan / Feb when everyone stays in and wears big baggy clothes is when we will be the biggest and most uncomfortable!!!

Sometimes I feel like the pregnancy is going on forever and the next minute I suddenly realise that I am almost half way there!!!

BarbarellaNz · 30/10/2008 16:31

Hi Everyone!
Haven't posted for a little while so am pleased to hear (see?)what you're all up to.
Can I please be put on the list?
April 9th,1st timer,38, triplets!!!

Carameli - I bought a whole lot of stuff from H&M maternity last week - tried to buy things that could MAYBE wear when not pregnant (two nice wrap cardis) and some 'over the bump'jeans and dark grey cords which are quite nice. Somehow they make my legs look shorter though.....hmmmm. Also two stretchy long-sleeved tops for wearing under things. Best maternity purchase so far is a great wrap thing from Topshop.
Springysunshine - good luck with the antibiotics - what a choice to have to make! Hopefully they get them right this time.
I'm 16 weeks today and bump has got bigger but still not past my boobs yet - boobs not much bigger than usual - unfortunate as was looking forward to being more 'chesty'!!

Love,Barbarella XX

Bubbaluv · 30/10/2008 16:47

Hi everyone and especially newbies,
Springy - Let us know how you go with the antibiotics.
Frekkles and BabyB- mine wasn't planned either (not for another year of so at least!) so I gave all my maternity clothes to my sister in Australia!! Normal tops are really riding up now and jeans are a joke, so I had a major Isabella Oliver blow-out a couple of days ago. I think I may have single-handedly averted the recession!
Barbarella - are you big already?
I'm so tired today. Am off to have a bath while DS naps...ahhhhh

BabyBolat · 30/10/2008 16:53

Hey Bubbaluv - me too!

Really want to curl up in bed and sleep through tomorrow but not sure that is going to happen! Finding it so very hard to focus today (which completely negates earlier post that I feel worse at the start of the week and pick up on a Thursday!)

38 minutes until the end of the day....

BarbarellaNz · 30/10/2008 16:55

Bubbaluv - comparing myself to a friend who is one month ahead of me I am definitely bigger. Doctor says I'll look full term by 6 months!!!!

Bubbaluv · 30/10/2008 17:04

Wow, I hope you don't have 3 biggies then! My cousin had twins both over 7 pounds!! Sorry, probably shouldn't have told you that!

Bubbaluv · 30/10/2008 17:05

Barbarella, Am I confused or are you in NZ, and if so what are you doing up at this hour!?

BabyBolat · 30/10/2008 17:08

Ow! she must have been huge!!!! 14lbs of babies - dear lord!!! Ow and Ow! one baby at 7lbs will be more than ok for me!!!

BarbarellaNz · 30/10/2008 17:13

Bubbaluv - am not in NZ, am in London but add the NZ because I am sappy and sometimes miss the 'homeland'!!

I hope the babies are big (5 pounds each the ideal as they'll be taken out at 34-35 weeks) but I think I'd explode if they were 7 pounds each..... mind you, I have been eating lots of cinnamon bagels and (weirdly) vanilla milkshakes so you never know... XX

BabyBolat · 30/10/2008 17:15

So will 34 / 35 weeks mean they will come out in March or is the April date your 34 week date? Sorry for all the questions!!!

Bubbaluv · 30/10/2008 17:18

She was ENORMOUS! And it wasn't just the weight. When they are that big they are really strong, so really gave her a pummeling! 3 x 5 pounds sounds more managable though. So when do you expect to actually deliver Barbarella ( I could check the list and work it out but am too lazy)?
I'm booked in for CS so will deliver either end of March or v early April despite my April 11 due date.
Glad to hear you're not MNing at 4 in the morning - makes me even tireder just thinking about it!
