BarbarellaNz · 30/10/2008 17:21

BabyBolat - March 9th is the date they would be due if I was 'normal' (as they put it!!) and they date it like that purely so my week to week pregnancy/size of babies etc can be compared to a singletons. Once the babies start to get squashed in there they usually stop growing and are normally delivered early because of the weight in your uterus/other problems which come with multiples. The consultant has told me that we will aim for 34 weeks and that he would be 'very happy' for me to get that far.

They will be in neonatal care for at least a few weeks - they say that if everything goes well you can usually take them home from hospital around the date they would have been due. Phewww! Raved on a bit there!!

BabyBolat · 30/10/2008 17:21

Hey Bubbaluv - sorry if you have answered this before but how come you are having a CS? I am really scared I will go overdue and end up miserable for 10 days until they induce me!!!!

BabyBolat · 30/10/2008 17:23

Oh Ok so they will come mid March time and then you can bring them home in April - so you will probably the first of our April gang! how exciting!!! It will be so weird when we actually start getting to that point!!!

BabyBolat · 30/10/2008 17:24

Bubbaluv - I am just being nosey so you don't feel you have to tell me!

BarbarellaNz · 30/10/2008 17:24

Just realised that I still didn't really answer your question BabyBolat and Bubbaluv!! That would mean I would have a CS somewhere near the end of the first week in March!!

SpringySunshine · 30/10/2008 17:25

How did the scan go, tristalee?

DP made me some gorgeous toast for lunch (he came home a little early because I was really upset & needed a cuddle) & I'm totally on board with the toast being wonderful thing. I quite fancy some more now, actually. I think DP is just within prodding distance if I stretch my foot right out

I've not bought many maternity things from the high street yet. I bought a couple of maternity tops from New Look, but so far the bulk of what I've got has been donated by my aunt or from Blooming Marvellous. BM is fantastic & I'd definitely recommend it. I do need to buy lots more really, so I'll be hitting the shops in the next couple of weeks. I think I'll be making a trip to Manchester to see one of my girlfriends, so we'll probably go then. I just love dressing a bump instead of having to hide a multitude of sins under clothes.

tristaleejac · 30/10/2008 17:26

Evening everyone, I'm back! Had my scan and it was amazing! Everything's fine and the baby was moving around loads it was so lovely. Just one in there so phychics were wrong! According to scan I'm 16 weeks today so will update list and take the 16th which is free at the moment.
BTW I'm jealous of everyone who's boobs are growing mine are destined to be tiny

BB, I had an emergency CS last time because I faint as a reaction to fluctuations in blood pressure and blood sugar levels, which I did during labour. They thought I was in eclamptic shock! I found the cs to be so peaceful and recovered so quickly that I am gong straight for the sunroof option this time.
Barb, Where are you having them? Are you getting good care from your consultant etc?

BabyBolat · 30/10/2008 17:27

Yay - tristaleejec that's fab news! Glad it all went well - was your mum excited?

staryeyed · 30/10/2008 17:27

Bubbaluv · 30/10/2008 17:29

Don't worry Trist, it happens to some before others, but it gets us all in the end. You'll be Pammy before you know it!

SpringySunshine · 30/10/2008 17:31

That's great about the scan, tristalee. It's so reassuring, isn't it? It's lovely

Welcome staryeyed! We're building up quite a list here!

BarbarellaNz · 30/10/2008 17:31

Am having 16 week scan tomorrow - am nervous as usual - but hope to see six hands waving at the camera

I THINK I may have felt a few movements over the past few days but am not really sure - could be gas or twinges? Have you guys felt anything yet?

tristaleejac · 30/10/2008 17:36

Well the woman today said the placenta is anterior so I'll not feel as much movements for a while yet.
does anyone else have that?
I hate waiting for such an exciting feeling.
BarbarellaNz I'm exactly the same - been feeling the odd sensation, usually in bed, but never sure if I just need a fart!
Come on huge boobs!

SpringySunshine · 30/10/2008 17:38

Yet again you're making me all gooey about the three babies, Barbarella! It makes me want to have a little hormonal weep

I've not felt anything yet. I'm so impatient to! I know things are still okay because I'm still being sick (thanks, LO ), but I really want to feel the first flutters! It'll make me feel so much happier about all the rubbish parts of being pregnant when I do. DP keeps prodding me in the tummy to see if it provokes anything, but it hasn't yet

BarbarellaNz · 30/10/2008 17:38

Bubbaluv - am at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. Had all my IVF there at their fertility clinic (the sixth attempt resulted in these three: two embryos put in but one kept dividing into a set of identical twins so... 3 babies at once!

They have been really good there - once the clinic referred me on after 8 week scan (which IVF clinics do to tell you how many babies are in there) I have been seen by a fetal medicine specialist every two weeks to be scanned and checked. The main worry is that because the twins share a placenta one may 'rob' nutrients from the other and this causes problems for all 3.

Tristalee - my boobs haven't grown much either. I was excited at the thought of having big melons but have only increased fractionally in size and am still in my normal bras....oh well...

XX Barbarella

Bubbaluv · 30/10/2008 17:39

Good luck Barbarella! Are you going to find out the sex(s)?

BarbarellaNz · 30/10/2008 17:43

Yes - I can't wait to find out! DH is absolutely petrified that they're all boys - I don't know why, he's a Sports teacher - surely he'll be able to form them into some team or another and keep them off my hands!!

Bubbaluv · 30/10/2008 17:45

My friend told me a story the other day about his friend's family who had 3 boys and decided to try for a girl. They had triplets all boys!!

KittyCat8 · 30/10/2008 17:46

Hello ladies! Nice to meet you all... Another newbie here...

I'm due on the 19th April with my FIRST... and I alternate between excited and petrified every few minutes! Is this normal??? Poor hubby thinks I've gone mental but I just blame the hormones...

PS - all Surrey based ladies... Hello and howdy! Anyone having theirs at Epsom Hospital?

BarbarellaNz · 30/10/2008 17:51

Hi KittyCat

Absolutely - you can blame hormones for pretty much everything! I'm very excited but equally a very good worrier!

Bubbaluv · 30/10/2008 18:20

Hi Kitty!
Def totally normal! Also, as things progress and D Day looms, you'll probably find your DH starts to feelexactly the same way. Things are just far more real for you now than they are for him. The enormity will dawn on him eventually.
