Last pg I had a small glass of red wine a week and doc was ok with this, DS perfectly fine. This pg I've gone off it a bit but now have the odd small glass or a sip of OHs. Will probably have a glass for celebrations. My parents live in france and they find it most strange for pg women to not have a small glass with a meal.

I have noticed all the bottles now have that logo with the pg woman with a red line through it, gives me a guilt trip every time I spot it.

Jumbs · 31/10/2008 10:50

Should I find out if I'm having a boy?! wasn't going to!

BellaMummy · 31/10/2008 10:59

Bubba, I haven't lived there for about 11 years so I am really out of touch, clearly!

We decided to find out the sex with this baby even though we didn't last time, so roll on 5 December and the next scan! If it's a boy I can feel all virtuous when have a glass of wine here and there.....

Does anyone else NOT have a bump yet??

I'm almost 16 weeks but has such bad MS I lost 6kgs in the first trimester... Now I'm looking a bit "softer" around the middle but there's definitely no tummy! (Not that I was a size zero to start with - more like a 14-16). Normal or not?

Although I must say that the boobs have taken on a life of their own... they're MASSIVE! I've gone from a 34C to a 38D! Yippee!!

Jumbs · 31/10/2008 11:29

Hi Kittycat, I didn't have much of a bump until around 20 wks with my first and then it exploded from nowhere from then on. I'm 19wks now with no. 2 and have some bump, but mainly just look a bit fat, or "softer" as you more attractively put it!

SpringySunshine · 31/10/2008 11:51

Morning ladies!

Just having a look in before I go off to start my day of Halloween-related baking & cooking & pumpkin carving. I have no idea if we'll get any Trick or Treaters as we've not lived here very long, but I'm making special fairy cakes (amongst so many other things) just in case. & if we get none, all the more for DP. My appetite's been a bit off recently, but I think he's eating for two.

As a small example, last night:
"Why did you buy (double) cream?"
"For the pumpkin soup."
"Oh... So I can't drink it?"

Just why? The thought of it makes me cringe.

My support belt's come today, too! Yay! I'll let you know if it's worth the investment after a day on my feet

& as for alcohol, I've not really wanted any at all because of my on/off sickness, but I won't feel guilty about a small quantity when I feel better. Although the judgements from other people would put me off drinking anything in public, I think.

KittyCat8 · 31/10/2008 11:58

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha..... thump.

(that's me falling off the couch with laughter)

mathsmummy27 · 31/10/2008 12:14

Re: alcohol..I drank about one unit per fortnight with DD and no problems. I occasionally really fancy a glass, so I just have one..and I did indulge the other night in a pub, looking very clearly pregnant..all ready for a punch-up but no-one cared
Probably shoudl add that I did abstain for the first 12 weeks, but now I see no harm.

If you really want one, go ahead..I would just limit myself to one at a time.

Bring on the toast revolution I say!

Can't wait till scan 12th Nov (so soon) boy or girl ))))

Bubbaluv · 31/10/2008 12:32

Springy, I met friends at the pub almost every Sunday during my last pregnancy and almost always had a half pint of Guiness or a glass of wine. Never got so much as a raised eyebrow even when I could balance the glass on my belly! I wonder if you would get a harder time because you are younger though?

Bubbaluv · 31/10/2008 12:37

I didn't actually balance glasses on my bump, just to clarify! I could have though!

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 31/10/2008 13:17

Blimey, I finally track down the new thread and there's 112 messages on it already! We are a bunch of natterers.
Just posting so that I don't lose the thread again, updates will have to wait till later

tristaleejac · 31/10/2008 13:24

Morning all, I'm in the halloween spirit too, I'm going clubbing tonight with my best mate, we're going as dead people. All blood and gore. Lovely.
As for ciggies and booze, I am a geek in that department. As soon as I found out I was pg that was me off them totally. Same with last pg too. It'll not stop me going out and having a good dance around and a good laugh. (Ok underneath it all I'm wearing support belts, flat shoes, boring granny pants etc, but nobody has to know that ha ha.)
Springy hope you feel a big difference now with your belt. I've managed to track mine down too so today we'll both be very supported!
I know this might sound weird but today, more than yesterday, I have a nice round bump. I think the worrying I was doing before the scan was making me subconsciously hold in my tummy. Didn't want to have an obvious bump until I had a definate baby (hope that doesn't sound awful)
So tonight I'm wearing a lovely dress that makes my boobs look bigger and makes my bump look obvoius. I'm going to celebrate my bump!
Now everyone do a scary halloween laugh......
WOO HA HA HA HA!!!!!

tristaleejac · 31/10/2008 13:27

Oops sorry, I meant afternoon all! Where has the day gone!

Jumbs · 31/10/2008 14:07

Going out clubbing, yikes! How do you have the energy?

What do support belts do for you? Ok, sounds a stupid question! But is it for a specific thing, like preventing back pain, or just to give your bump support?

SpringySunshine · 31/10/2008 14:22

Tristalee, my bump suddenly got much bigger the day after I had an internal exam to 'prove' my pregnancy at about 13 weeks (I thought this was totally normal practice & thought nothing of it, but increasingly I'm realising that it's perhaps not & am a bit concerned about my GP ) - DP reckons she somehow inflated me from the inside out, but I agree - when it starts feeling more real, you're less inclined to suck it in. I still sometimes instinctively do pull it in when DP touches my tummy in a girly 'I'm not fat, honest!' way, & have to remember that it's okay now (Clubbing? How can you possibly find the energy for that? I'd end up fast asleep, slumped over the bar which is not a good look for a pregnant lady.)

Bubbaluv - I do worry that people make judgements about my age, especially since that cow had a go on the tram. But maybe that's just because I live in a cheap tracksuit, grease my hair back & have a cigarette tucked behind my ear at all times

Jumbs - the support belt is meant to help alleviate back pain & distribute the weight of your bump a bit. So far I'd say it's helping a little, but it's certainly not sexy & I feel a bit daft as my bump isn't even particularly large yet. But anything that even slightly helps my back pain is a welcome relief, especially when it only cost £10 & is fully adjustable, etc.

PuzzleRocks · 31/10/2008 15:44

Wow, so much to catch up on.

Welcome Frekkles, Crameli, StaryEyed, Tartetatin and KittyCat8.

Stary - I'm due 1 day away from DD's 2nd birthday. Not a consequence of my wedding anniversary I might add . Although it is very close and both my sisters asked that question.

Interesting article OddEyes. I had decided tonight would be the first night I would allow myself a drink. I have some scary movies lined up too. I've been getting excited at the prospect all week. Now i'm not sure I fancy it though, I had a terrible headache last night after getting very strange visual disturbances. Has ayone else had the same?

OP posts:
Bubbaluv · 31/10/2008 15:51

Puzzle, DH's sister was born on his 2nd birthday and his younger sister was born 4 years and 2 days later! She was due on the same day as the others, but was tardy!

frekkles · 31/10/2008 16:16

i was on holiday last weekend in belgium and had a good few sips of the boyfriends beers and a couple of sips of a gin. and then felt terribly guilty all night and couldn't sleep imagining a baby pickled in gin!

teeheelaydee · 31/10/2008 16:57

OK so I'm taking the plunge after a little bit of lurking if that's OK. Although you guys talk ALOT so not sure if I can keep up. Love the new thread title.

Am 17 weeks tomorrow after 3 m/c's (hence why I haven't joined you ladies until now!) I'm a first timer so currently in various states of excitement and fear!!

Have a bit of a bump, but just look fat I think. Have got some maternity jeans and a couple of tops as all my clothes were so uncomfortable. Can't remember who was asking but checked out H&M today and have to say it is the best range I have seen so far - will return with credit card soon.

Interested to hear how bump support goes as had a few pains when tired.

Oh BTW - EDD 11th April. Looking forward to sharing this freaky experience with you all.

frekkles · 31/10/2008 17:17

tis really really really freaky, i agree missy!

i was slightly freaked out yesterday too when the sonographer said that bambino was six inches long. it just seemed massive! then I was bizarrely slightly reassured by boyfriend reminding me that that was just the size of the average male pride and joy and that I haven't found that too large for me in the past tee hee....... oh dear, that's all really wrong innit? i think i may just have made the whole thing slightly more freaky now again!

KittyCat8 · 31/10/2008 17:37

Dear Frekkles -

Nah, it's perfectly natural to compare your DC to your hubby's manly bits... tee hee!! I do know what you mean though - you do have some funny thoughts while preggies...

PS - anyone else having VERY vivid dreams? In which totally inappropriate people make an appearance? (eg Boss, ex-boyfriends, Simon Cowell...!!!)

SpringySunshine · 31/10/2008 17:49

Welcome teeheelaydee! We're due on the same day

KittyCat I've had some hilarious dreams recently. I've been having a 'celebrity' series. 'Highlights' have included Paul Daniels having to teach me sleight of hand so I could fool the leader of a cult & escape, incredibly dull sex with Adrian Mole (fictional?!) & John Malkovich sitting in my grandparents' living room chatting to me & eating crisps. But then I did have a great dream in which I went kettle shopping with Mark Owen before I was pregnant (& now he's my dream best friend - I know his number in all of my dreams & can call him & sometimes meet him for coffee if I really need a chat), so I can't entirely blame pregnancy.

One of the best things I think anyone's ever said as their first phrase of the morning was me to DP about 3 weeks ago whilst still half asleep: "Do you think Anne Frank counts as a celebrity?"

Must dash - gingerbread bats are about to start burning! I'll be back later, I'm sure

KittyCat8 · 31/10/2008 17:55

Hi Springy!

Get your bats out of the oven... there should be only BUNS in there now...

mathsmummy27 · 31/10/2008 18:36

On the subject of dreams (TMI approaching...look away now) I am having some filthy ones - mostly aout DH - but I'm finding that I can actually, erm , you know..
I remember this from last time now!!!
