Hi all,

spats that's wonderful news, and nice to have a boy on this girly-baby thread at last!! Let's hope mine can be the second (i'm secretly hoping for a blue flavour) i have a dilemma - i have a scan in a week and may be able to find out and not sure if i will, it might help influence my birth choices so in a way i'd like to know but then i think maybe i should just wait ... what do i do!??!

nelix it's been so lovely to have shared this journey too with everyone, i can't believe the time has gone by so quickly in a way. How are you feeling now? I'm really excited about hearing how you get on xx

smileycat · 07/05/2009 16:48

Only you can make that decision Heeby & DH of course, if its going to make you decide which way to give birth then it could be the right reason for finding out, if keeping it a suprise is more important to you both & the birth will be what it is then you might feel you want to hold off knowing till the baby arrives

Heebychick · 08/05/2009 08:13

You know i think you are right, in a way i don't want it to influence my birth choice as this somehow seems a cop out.

No i want to wait, after all smiley you speak a lot of sense, the birth will be what it will be whether we know or not!

So secret it is - DH firmly doesn't want to know so it's a no brainer really.

Thanks honey xx

spats · 08/05/2009 11:27

WHat made me decide to find out in the end was when i did the school run i had 4 of my friends around me saying find out and i thought it would be nice for me to tell them rather than my DH by text when its born. I have never told anyone which sex it was as have always been recovering from the birth. I had lots of texts back and MN (of course) and telling people at school ( yes i know i am an attention seeker) but i couldn't stop sm,iling all day so i know i made the right decision. Now i can go hunting for blue stuff. With others i had green and purple blankets and bedding which i still have but this boy is going to be blue, blue.blue so going to get new sheets etc and 0-3 months will be blue not cream !!! My friend who is 12 weeks is telling everyone today so that will be good, at last i have kept the secret for 8 weeks. xx

spats · 08/05/2009 11:30

oh names? why don't you all write names of boys you know and i can see if any grab me. I had 1 which i had decided on weeks ago but said it so much have know gone off it!!! But have another one, although haven't asked DH yet although as rachel said on friend "no uterus, no opinion " X

WanabeMum · 08/05/2009 14:46

hello everyone,

Congratulations on the boy spats, glad you are having what you wanted.

Wow nelix full term!! that's gone so fast! probably not for you though . Keep us informed on how you go xxx

Heeby you're right, don't use the birth as an excuse to find out the sex, just do what feels right and it seems you really don't want to find out so there's your answer.

I had my 20week scan this morning and didn't find out the sex. All is well and baby is beautiful! Saw him/her swallowing and all the mouth muscles moving so that was amazing. Very active and likes to kick so slightly worried about later on when the kicks have more strength! lol
The sonographer did all the checks then said "oooh we have legs tightly crossed at the ankles" so we didn't ask about the sex. I thought it was a sign so decided against asking, to be honest i don't think it would have been possible to see anyway!

I can't stop looking at the photo's though, the little button nose and tiny hand waving at the scanner. Awww, so emotional! I'm so soft about it it's unreal lol.

My friend had her 20 week scan yesterday and is having a boy so that's exciting too.

Hope everyone else is doing well

Pezzina · 08/05/2009 14:52

Spats congratulations on your scan going well and finding out you're having a boy. Must be lovely being able to focus on what colours to buy.

My DH and I have decided not to find out which I am happy with but when I see all the lovely boy and girl outfits in the shops a little part of me did wish I knew one way or the other so that I could start buying things other than babygrows. All in good time I guess! I'm still looking forward to the surprise.

23 weeks tomorrow - time is whizzing by at the moment. Have a spa day to go to next weekend for my friends hen do. Am dreading it. As my bump grows so does my bum. They seem to be keeping exactly the same size!! From front on I look fine but from the side I look hilarious - big bump big bum - so no confidence in trying to wear a swimming cossie! I've ordered a tankini from M&P which looks very cute on the website - I just hope it looks ok.

Pezzina · 08/05/2009 14:55

Wanabe good news that your scan went well

funtimewincies · 08/05/2009 19:37

Ooh, glad that everyone is well and scans are going to plan. I can't believe that you're nearly there Nelix.

Some more scan news to add to the list. I had my dating scan today and all is well. Little blighter was stretching and bouncing like a mad thing .

I'm eating ludicrous amounts of food now that the sickness is easing and will be tucking into a takeaway tonight!

Heebychick · 10/05/2009 17:43

Hi ladies,

How was your takeaway funtime? What did you have? So nice that your dating scan went well, what a relief eh!

We've had a nice weekend but getting tired after running around after a toddler all day, in a way i'll be sad to leave work as at least i get a few days break! Gosh that sounds awful - you know what i mean tho!

How was everyone else's weekend?

funtimewincies · 10/05/2009 20:11

Chinese Heeby and it was fabulous to finally get enough calories in one meal . I'm also knackered after a toddler day and I'm only 11 weeks, I'm such a wimp and I'll be on my knees by the point that you are at! Dh is away at the moment, which is making it tough but I'm still such a lightweight .

nelix2000 · 11/05/2009 10:23

aaaaaw scans galore!!! so glad everyone is good and babys are bouncing!!!

I am exhausted lol DS was sick yesterday and last night so in bed with us. I can barely walk as seems she has dropped right down and casuing me great amounts of pain. Its easier if I crawl lol!! DS has great fun crawling upstairs with me!!!

Oooooh I could go a chinese!!!

OP posts:
Heebychick · 11/05/2009 11:32

nelix you are not filling me with confidence that i shall bounce happily to the finish lin ... our DD was up all night too so we are totally done in as well. Fun fun.

Let's hope baby is engaged and you have her soon .... can't wait for the gorey details and pics!!

WanabeMum · 11/05/2009 13:27

hello ladies,

funtime that's fantastic news, so pleased you're coming along nicely. Mmmm chinese sounds so good!

Nelix sorry to hear you're suffering but i suppose it's a good sign she is almost ready to join you?

nelix2000 · 11/05/2009 17:30

I am having chinese tonight

OP posts:
Heebychick · 11/05/2009 19:47

Ha ha .... somehow i thought you would!!

Well planted that seed!

My god i have a lively baby ... i'm not sure i don't have a litter of puppies in here instead of one small baby. Sooooo lively and awake lots of the time .. it can flippin well pack that in when it comes out that's for sure !!

xx

smileycat · 11/05/2009 20:09

my little monster seems to have grown extra arms & legs this week by the way she has been kicking & thumping me. I guess she is running out of room now as I feel really stretched already (no stretch marks yet..fingers crossed they won't appear)

I've had my tea already tonight but after reading this post I wish I'd gone for chinese..maybe tomorrow ummm

I've developed this pain at the top of my right bum cheek (for the last 2 wks), its worse when I've sat down for a while & then when I get up I limp around for a couple of minutes till it wares off enough to be an annoying pain rather than a really painful one. Should I be worried to you think or is it all just part & parcel of being pg??

Heebychick · 12/05/2009 09:39

smiley you sound just like me, i had/have the same pain, in my buttock and seat bone, especially when i've been sat for a long time, i struggle to get up and it takes a bit of 'old lady' walking until it gets a bit better. It could either be the position of the baby (mine comes and goes depending on where he/she is sitting/lying) or the start of SPD? I was diagnosed with it and it affects my bottom and back of pelvis rather than the front. Yoga and stretching helped me a lot and in fact although Physio told me not to open my legs in yoga (thus not opening the pelvis) it turns out this is the only thing that helps, so maybe chat with MW or GP and get referred to a physio for some advice.

Also agree with lively babies - maybe it's all that sugar i'm eating ....

As for stretch marks - i swear by Plamers cocoa butter, my husband rubs lots of it into my tummy every night before bed (it's a daddy ritual thing!) and so far nothing, and nothing in the last one - quite good considering i had a HUGE baby!

I'm buying into the Almond Oil massage (of lower parts) theory now which is not nice to do but worth it i hope

nelix2000 · 12/05/2009 10:40

Hello all! Baby gave me a false alarm this morning. I woke at 610am with quite an intense period pain, but nothing else happened but hey ho! just as well as ds and I have the dentist today lol!!! Think I would rather be in labour tho!!!

smiley sounds like how my SPD started I am affraid to say....talk to your midwife and get refered to physio, mine helped me hugely. Would go back if I wasnt so close to the finishing line. I can barely walk up my own stairs, driving is very hard too.

You ladies are lucky my DS gave me huge stretch marks and this one (who I feel is far plumper) has just added to them!!! lucky me lol ....well worth a lifetime of silver scars tho!

Pezzina · 12/05/2009 11:32

Hi ladies

Nelix very excited that you are nearly there. and at your false alarm this morning. Surely a sign things are getting ready to happen?

Smiley hope you manage to speak to your MW and find out what is causing the pain.

All good here - baby is moving around lots too. Got taken shopping by my mum and dad at the weekend and they ended up buying a lovely moses basket and stand and some very cute all-in-ones for the baby from Mothercare. I had to drag my mum out of the shop. But it was lovely seeing them both so excited

Heebychick · 12/05/2009 11:57

Hi again,

nelix that is exciting! i can't wait to hear how you get on, i am praying for a relaxed birth and quick labour for you.

pezz lovely to be buying some nice things for bub, we need to buy a cot and have decided to let DD choose it (with our careful stearing ) as think the involvement might help.
