I'd love our first family xmas to be just us three but its not gonna happen, my mother is wanting to descend and his mum(most put out that i refuse to leave the house at xmas with a new baby) says that she will just have to come round then.bleugghhhhh....
lacks i said southern softies, you have turned it to poofters!!! ha ha ha. sounds nice meal though, ive got no snow just rain and a fox walking round the garden!

ive managed to track down a reflexologist who will manipulate me. all day ive been calling reflexologists and acupuncturists explaining that waters went and so want a natural manipulation to avoid a hormonal induction at the hospital...they say oh no we wont touch you, you might go into labour!!! complimentary medicine my arse!!
they'd rather i was pumped full of syntocinon than risk me having a twinge on their bench!

LackaDAISYcal · 28/10/2008 14:52

Obs

glad you are home; was going to text you in a bit. I hope it;s all going well.

I have reached the point of not being able to put my own socks on . the indignity of having DH do it, and himm telling me not to wriggle my toes up like we do the DCs

Off to tesco.....for ten pound of grapes. I have it on good authority that they are good for getting things kick started.

Daisy to make you feel better about the sock thing - I went to the docs today for a check up and couldn't produce the mandatory bottle of wee as when I tried to get a sample I couldn't see past my bump to catch anything coming out - and had to explain this to the doc.

chocolategal · 28/10/2008 14:59

yay! obs is home

daisy i cant get my socks on without causing heartburn! i make my stovies with cornedbeef and dripping, oh so healthy!
think the easiest way to describe a bannock is like an oatcake? kinda like a cracker.

drswife doesnt sound like your having a very successful time of it with the complimentary medicine!!

rutho that xmas day you described sounds perfect......cant wait for xmas now!
coolkat also room for wispas!
our lot of babys are going to be wispa daft!!
cricri sounds like things may be starting for you??

oooh, we have snow forcast for tmw!

chocolategal · 28/10/2008 15:00

that should read ALWAYS room for wispas!

cricri · 28/10/2008 15:16

Welcome back Obs Hope everything is OK with you all and look forward to hearing from you in more detail when you get a moment!
Very of those with snow - it's just cold and dull here.
Drswife Will none of the therapists you spoke to do home visits? That way if you do go into labour then at least you'll be in the right place and you can simply call the mw.
Choc I had exactly the same experience as you when I tried to produce my sample for the mw last week

barbareebaa · 28/10/2008 15:17

ooh thanks lacks and Rutho for Christmas ideas - I think we will definitely get a pretend tree this year (although shame, shame) but why make work? I love the idea of having a very chilled time and will check out Marks and Spensive for some yummy treats!
Am a bit but v. about snow!!
Obs congratulations!! Glad to hear you're home - would love to see pics [hint]

Tinkerisdead · 28/10/2008 15:21

crici this woman will see me tonight but i have to go to her. Dh is driving me, she got a bit funny saying hmmm we need a plan of action in case labour starts, i said i have independant midwife, she's come out to me but i only need to get home its a homebirth and DH can drive me back home. she made me ring midwife to double check but it was midwife who told me to find a reflexologist in the first place.

i even asked all the others whether they would do it if i was at full term of 40 weeks and they said no! the only acupuncturist who said they will call me back, was recommended to me by my friend who is undergoing IVF. she had acupuncture for fertility. anyway, in looking them up, last year they were prosecuted as they were not storing used needles correctly, they had no hot water to clean anywhere and the couches had been fixed with chicken wire, covered with a doormat and then a towel..

so i thought i may not use them afterall...

Tinkerisdead · 28/10/2008 15:22

ive got snow ive got snow!!!! in the midlands yippeeeeee southern poofters get snow too then

LadyBuzz · 28/10/2008 15:30

Welcome home Obs hope you are both well!
Drswife hope it gets things moving for you.
I want snow too!! Its a beautiful day here but very very cold.
I'm in a quandry over christmas, I love spending it with the PILS as it reminds me of my childhood xmases with all the family, but my Dad wants us too (I would have to drive) I love being with them too and my stepmum is great but I can't stand her stepmum and don't want to spend babies first christmas with a grumpy old woman! I might just stay at home too - If they want to see us they can come here for a change!

ChocOrange05 · 28/10/2008 15:37

Thanks to everyone for mentioning Wispas for the millionth time - I cannot ignore my craving any longer so I am off to the co-op to get my fix. Damn you all!

Heartmum2Jamie · 28/10/2008 16:23

Welcome home Obs!!! I too would love to see pics when you have a minute!

STILL snowing here, been at it all afternoon. I'm in South Staffs, but very close to the west mids boarder.

sparkletoes · 28/10/2008 16:40

Am at those alternative therapists DocWife! That would make me think twice about using them too, disappointing.

They do aromatherapy and acupuncture at the maternity hospital I am going to so feel more trusting of them plus I would be in the right place if anything happened!

MW discussed induction at my appointment there! Am only 37+ weeks! Ok she wasn't booking me in just telling me when and what they would recommend but what they don't realise is I am HAPPY for baby to stay where it is for now!!

Am with self now as forgot to get Wispas AGAIN when at shops earlier!!!

MonkeyMargot · 28/10/2008 17:09

Just caught up......
Welcome back Obs!!!
LOL at alopecia in the lady garden Lacks!! TBH - I've had dry skin in that dept. since becoming PG. I have had to apply a barrier cream prescribed by GP to the nether regions daily to prevent flakiness etc (GROSS OUT!! - sorry if TMI).
However, despite the hideousness of my affliction, it has the added bonus of putting DH off doing rudies.....!
I am really knackered this afternoon. After my NCT coffee morning and doing a few light chores, I'm worn out!
Very of those with Wispa bars....however we are going for a Pizza express tonight with our 2 for 1 voucher from the sunday times.
Rutho have started game of scrabble with you.
Sparkle I liked you better when you were pants at Scrabble. You're too good now.

sparkletoes · 28/10/2008 18:04

LOL MonkeyM! Would be no fun if I were a complete pushover surely!! Anyway you only have yourself to blame, you have taught me and many others a new dimension to the game!

I've also had really dry skin this PG, on forearms and bump mainly so only on show to medical profession - but it is not nice. Reckon I am not drinking enough water which won't be helping...

Name news freom MerryMarigold!
They have (finally!) chosen a name for the boy twin - (drum roll.........)
Jude !!!
Middles names being bestowed currently, yet tbc.
All 3 are hopefully going home tomorrow!

Hey, Jude!!

missygoo · 28/10/2008 18:13

ruth LOL at 'take your proddy little friend with you'
teehee

People are so silly docswife, I guess you can see where they are coming from but You're calling cos the midwife told you to, can you call the midwife to confirm?? Did you just wait 10 mins and call back without calling midwife? Would have been tempted though, eh?

Well I have been to see the consultant and am going to be minitored more!! They now want me to go 20 miles (40 mile round trip) Mon, Wed and Fri for the next however long, to be attached to the monitoring machine for half an hour. Scanned once a week for fetal growth and (I think) once a week for blood flow. Do they both occur at the same time? Not sure. Reckon he just means once a week now instead of every fortnight.
Then, all will be checked once we get to the 37-38 week mark, but he reckons we prob won't go beyond that. At that point he is going to see if my body is ripe for induction, apparently they can tell. If so I will be induced, if not CS. Or failing all that, I will go naturally at about 38 weeks, just to suit them all.
Cor blimey, what a carry on eh?
I guess I got answers.

DH and I are holding out now to make it to the 19th. He, I and DD are all born on the 19th. (DH would also tell you that the cat and dog are 19th too. We do actually have forms that say the dog is, but the cat is a hazard guess, but I don't think it is too far out) How fab would it be if this LO could be born then too!?

ChocOrange05 · 28/10/2008 18:17

Hana the lady who ran our NCT class says that anyone who smokes should not hold a small baby if they still smell of smoke as there is link to cot death - although being tactful is preferable, probably more important to get the message across. (Sorry if that sounds really preachery - not meant too, I just mean that anyone should understand that reason IYSWIM??)
