Hi, I'm also on the June thread but officially my due date would be 4th July 2009 so thought I'd better set up a thread for all these summer babies.

Got 3 BFP's yesterday although technically I am only 3+2 weeks. Would love to symptom spot with fellow early testers. Surely there must be more of us out there !! I can't be the first

I've got tomorrow, Sunday and Monday off work, yay

mum2boys2girls · 21/11/2008 20:41

Hi everyone and a big welcome to all the newbies

Had my booking in appointment with the Midwife it took forever as the pregnancy book has changed and just has pages and pages to go through !!

All went well and due for my scan on the 18th Dec so a big hurrah as I wanted it before christmas

The sickness is really really bad I have never felt this bad before just feel sick all the time with this strange empty feeling luckily not due back at work till the 2nd Dec feeling sorry for myself luckily I have a very caring DH who has been doing everything , my boys are worried they going to catch this tummy bug I have said I doubt it !!!!!!!

ready2pop · 22/11/2008 07:02

Hi everyone and congrats to all.

I saw the dr yesterday to get the ball rolling. It wasn't really worth going to be honest.

He said there was no way I could get a dating scan on the NHS so the first will be the nuchal scan at 11-13 weeks. He didn't seem sure how they will work out when to give me that (not sure how pg Iam as periods not back after my ds yet) so has just left all the dates on the forms blank. I have a strong suspicion that this will mean I get put to the bottom of the pile. Boooking in here happens after the first scan so can't see a midwife to sort it out either.

I guess I'll have to get a private scan but they all seem to cost about £100. Anyone now of a good place to go in London?

Really disappointed with the whole thing and still no closer to finding out when baby will be due - am busting to know.

hobnob57 · 22/11/2008 09:51

ready2pop that is awful. Isn't there even a midwife hotline you can phone? ours up here are contactable via answerphone 24/7. I've a good mind to give you their number!

My determination to avoid paranoia is waning. I had a totally ick-free breakfast today, and that was after a lie-in so I should have been feeling really dodgy. I'm feeling almost back to normal . Fingers crossed please.

Phoenix · 22/11/2008 10:11

at no dating scan ready2pop. Strange having booking in after scan too

mum2boys2girls - I've constantly got the sick, empty feeling too. My problem is i eat when i'm sick

No work for me until Tuesday . I got a nice lie in this morning too . Ds normally always sleeps at my mum and dads on a Friday night (wonder if they'll have 2 dcs sleep ) so me and dh had a rare night out last night for a meal with some friends

ladylush · 22/11/2008 11:12

Mij that's useful info - thanks I try not to be precious about these things but with a history of 2mmc (and 1 suspected ectopic) I haven't got a great track record, so I figure everything I can do to help must count for something

woollyjo · 22/11/2008 13:08

We get dating scans at 12 weeks but have to pay £190 for a nuchal up this way. Sounds like they do it the other way round down south.

However if I was a young spritely thing with low downs risk I'd be pretty cheesed off. We didn't have a nuchal last time but will this time round (sold the car).

Mij · 22/11/2008 15:29

I think a 'if you really want it, have it' approach to cheese is probably best for one's mental health tbh, but I became the cheese guru first time around cos I got so much conflicting info I just had to get some proper backup. A friend who runs a cafe flatly refused to sell me parmesan until I produced the 'official' list to prove it was safe!

Mavornia - Amanda Holden!!!!! Oh, my truss is barely holding up under the onslaught. I have been on telly, and in films actually, but I am soooooo far away from being famous it's hysterical. Although I'm enjoying the speculation so I think I'll let it run [mischievous emoticon].

I did my absolute best not to play the pg card first time around, cos I'm a stupid pig-headed bloody-minded Miss Indpendent who even insisted on building a sodding chest of drawers in a cupboard when 7 months pregnant. And I have an incredibly sweet DP who positively enjoyed it when I just had to give up and sit on the sofa from time to time. But I'm very tempted this time around cos starting from a point of greater tiredness (DD not a great sleeper and having a restless patch just now) so may have to plead exhaustion.

In case anyone's OH is less than sympathetic, can I share a line a pregnant friend of mine used when her DH wasn't making allowances and pleading a hard day at work:

I'm busier just sitting on this sofa than you'll ever be.

Isn't that just a corker? And completely irrefutable!

Mij · 22/11/2008 15:31

God, I've just reread that post and it sounds like I'm trying to big up my media appearances - realised it doesn't have the tongue-in-cheek tone I intended when you don't know what I was actually doing in 'em. It's all very boring, honestly...

mavornia · 22/11/2008 16:30

[now even more intrigued and just realised that she is in fact a bona fide nosey parker...]

o, i love that line and i reckon it shall be featuring a lot in the next nine months

i retort at least once a day as it is to dh "i'm pregnant diabetic", normally followed by a flounce and/or tears - ridiculously emotional a the minute, got all teary eyed reading about other people weeping while reading their children stories on the children's fiction thread

Christiana, I think you should phone up your surgery and ask for a mw appointment. I'm up a bit further north than you are (yes, absolutely freezing cold and covered in snow) but that's how it works up here. Once you have one, they sort things out from there.

Feeling generally very crap today. Not at all in a morning sickness kind of way, and pretty worried about that. Had a couple of sharp pains earlier on, but then realised I was in tights and the band was pretty tight. I just feel knackered, chilly and generally miserable. I found it hard to contain myself earlier... we were at a birthday party and a sonographer was present. I was desperate to ask them for a quickie scan!

there's no way of knowing whether tge prawn crackers will make you feel ill until you try...

Maybe this IS proper ms on its way. My belly aches, my innards are bubbling, I'm not remotely hungry and the pinky ponk on in the night garden is making me feel travel sick.

Evening and welcome to new BFP's!
Christiana Hobnob is right - you're going to eat the prawn crackers and find out the hard the way whether they are a good or bad idea. I had cheese on toast today with sliced beetroot and I was in food heaven. It so could have gone the other way.

I have lost a few pounds which is rare for me. My last 2pg even w/ms I gained 7lbs by 14 wks. I reckon this is lost water weight as can't stomach too much water or tea or anything else really

QueenFee · 22/11/2008 19:43

mij I sooo love that line. I think I may use it a lot as DH not being very sympathetic at all today - actually he seems to have more pregancy hormonal moodiness than me!
Christiana I have had a few of those 'do I really want to go back to that moments'
readytopop We don't get nuchal scans here just dating scans which is done at about 11 weeks. We also don't book in till after then. Sorry they arn't being very helpfull. Could you be a little bit sly and give them the real dalt LMP? Maybe you would then get a phonecall when they realise the baby should already have been born!
Hope you hear soon I heard the date of my scan within 2 weeks of 1st contact.

I put on so much weight with the last 2 yet this time I haven't put any on yet. I tend to eat a lot as I find it helps the MS.
I keep crying at the smallest thing at the moment and it is driving me crazy as not normally a blubberer!

Beccabump · 22/11/2008 19:50

Oooh prawn crackers! Why do i get food cravings from reading them on here?!

I have become very partial to a nice bit of ketchup -on anything...mind you with DD I was drinking salad cream out the bottle so I shouldn't really be suprised!

Feeling really queasy today, probably because we went for a walk into town and then to the park in the cold - think I over did it and got too chilly. MS seems far worse if I am cold for some reason. It's so strange how I can feel so sick and so hungry at the same time. Can't drink tea or coffee so relying on hot squash to warm me up and keep my fluids up!

I too get the bubbling in my tummy and a weird emptiness if I haven't had anything to eat for a while.

We are 6+2 today and have told my parents they are going to be GP's again - very positive reaction! Had to tell them really as we are all off down to visit them next weekend and I am going to be wearing my maternity jeans - not because I need them but 'cause the are soooo much more comfy!

Anyone else want to put their Xmas decs up yet or am I just odd?

xxx

hobnob57 · 22/11/2008 20:02

okay okay I take it all back.

One whiff of Thai red curry sent me running for the loo and heaving up most of today's food.

So I'm not about to have an impending miscarriage then.....

I'm so relieved, yet so apprehensive at the same time. I got rampant evening sickness last time around and couldn't eat dinner for 3 months. I lost loads of weight, but I'm sure the lack of dinner contributed to the length of time my ms lasted for.

I'm feeling a bit better now - munching on a small bowl of boiled rice. I might have to start my bedtime rice pudding habit again [hmmm]

bozette · 22/11/2008 20:20

Oooooh prawn crackers with jelly fruits, must have....

Does anyone else have killer heartburn already? I went to a friends last night and had chilli and was up repeatedly in the night feeling awful. When can you take ranitidine? Is it only after 1st trimester or can i now? (i took some anyhow in the night i felt so awful). Currently halfway through a box of rennies.

Enjoying the mystery surrounding Mij, i love secretly reading trashy mags, haven't seen a celeb for ages, last was Jimmy Mistry in a crappy club in Crouch end, who was with mubs from holby city and that was YEARS ago!

Aww bozette I do feel for you! My heartburn hasn't been too bad yet but with DD I was drinking Gaviscon like it was milk! I have had a few bouts so far, mainly if I have has spicy or fatty food - boring plain food here I come! Can't find any info on taking ranitidine other than it says it is safe in pregnancy...great help aren't I! Can you get your doc to prescribe it - could be cheaper than having to but it lol!

Hope you feel better soon! xxx

mavornia · 22/11/2008 21:12

people losing weight, you say?!!

very jealous - feeling like my hips would rival those of Barney and I'm only 3 weeks (does everyone add on the extra two weeks from their last menstrual cycle when refering to how pregnant the are or just count in actual pregnant weeks?)

i have to go for scans and get blood tests done every two weeks because of the diabetes - it's nice seeing the baby so often but I have a real phobia of blood. I used to cry at the tests last time round and the nurses would roll their eyes and go "o, it's you again" as I came slinking into the nurses' station - but then they would rub my back and give me tea and a Rich Tea biscuit so it wasn't all bad

christiana, i love germany at christmas. i lived in regensburg for a year in bavaria and the christmas markets were fantastic. I used to wander around drinking gluhwein, scoffing all manner of hot treats and uying gorgeous glass decotaions which my mum still puts out every year. it'll be fantastic!

Morning everyone. I have that nauseous feeling that ms is on its way. last time i started feeling very sick in week 5, the puking started in week 6 and didnt give up until 24 weeks. i figure i have just a few more days before i start feeling awful. boobs bit sore but nothing too bad and really i'm just a bit tired and wishing ds would let his dad get up with him for once!

speaking of boobs i went from a C to a D cup within a few weeks last time and have never gone back to a C. tad worried i am going to be huge up top within a few more weeks! believe me i dont have the height to pull it off and will end up looking dumpy!

i have an app with the midwife for booking in next thursday. dont want to make a nuisance of myself from the get go but seriously considering asking for a c section. to be frank i am just terrified of labour - had a very bad experience last time. i was 11 days over due, very long labour ds was 9lb 5oz. i am only 5 foot and he was just far too big for me. when the midwife who had looked after me throughout came to the house she seemed very shocked i'd had natural birth.

do you think they will tell me where to go? really dont want to risk another ds hitting the 10lb mark!

just re read my post and realise I sound very grumpy! i am happy to be pg, honest!!
