sweeney · 21/03/2005 08:59

thinking of you bonym.
thanks for all the congrats. still can't find time to post more!!!!! sorry not to congrat everyone

Pidge · 21/03/2005 11:10

Wow - 5 more girls since I last posted - hope I haven't miscounted or missed anyone - well done 3mummy, shortiemum, thedame71, ZoeC and charlie95.

Can't wait to read the announcments.

And gooooooood luck boneym - how exciting.

We're all doing pretty well. I can finally walk more than 50 yards without being in total agony. Though weirdly standing still is a problem. But a fine excuse not to do any cooking! And feeding is ok, if very sore on one side. I'm sure Iris is fatter already!

Am off to check out the birth announcements.

bonym · 21/03/2005 14:41

Hi girls - Grace Isabella was born at 4pm yesterday after a 6hr labour at home. Unfortunately I suffered a post-partum haemorrage so had to be taken into hospital for the night so they could keep an eye on me. Home again now and all fine if a bit worn out. Grace is an angel - incredibly placid and feeding well. Will do full announcement when less tired!

Huge congratulations to LondonMummy and BoneyM.

BoneyM - well done on the homebirth - really sorry you ended up in hospital afterwards. I hope that bit wasn't too traumatic. Glad you're home safe and sound. Grace is my dd1's middle name, so rather fond of that choice .

Norash40 - hope you're keeping sane waiting for events - make the most of the calm before the storm!

Leogaela · 22/03/2005 11:10

Congratulations Londonmummy! Another boy to add to the few March boys!!!! Hooray!

Leogaela · 22/03/2005 11:19

My mother is here at the moment... starting to drive me nuts! I am counting the days until she goes now! why can't she do useful things like cook, wash up, etc.... all she wants to do is play with ds, hold him, comfort him when he cries - thats MY JOB, I NEED to do these things for him and he needs ME!!!! I am spending my time doing everything else (cooking etc..)and don't seem to have the time to look after him! He was crying last night when I got up to feed him (4am), she even got up and stood over me while I fed him ... I shut myself in my bedroom with him for a few hours this morning and have told her I am staying in all day today so she has gone out for a walk now .

Am I being unfair to my mum????

Rant over!

Leogaela · 22/03/2005 11:21

Norash, I am sure it will only be a few days now. Almost all the march babies have been early on time or only a day or two late.

I'M STILL HERE!!

Had major computer problems so haven't posted in ages, but no baby yet, so Norash, you're not alone! Massive, massive congrat's to all the new mummies - so many girls, and all with gorgeous names!

I'm now 39+2 and absolutely no inkling of anything about to happen, so have a feeling this baby may be late. Quite hard to accept, as my ds was early and I fully expected this one to follow suit.

Have a m/w appt tomorrow and looking forward to finding out the babe's orientation - pretty sure he's back to back as lots of lumpy protrusions keep popping out in front. Very uncomfortable and very alien-esque!!

Anyway, will promise to keep in touch now. Chin up, Norash, I'm sure things will happen for us soon enough

norash40 · 22/03/2005 17:25

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words. I am just now taking it easy.

All the best kerryj.

bonym · 23/03/2005 09:26

Hi everyone and big congratulations Londonmummy!

Thinking of you norash and KerryJ - hope you get those babies out soon! Sending you labour vibes .

Leogaela - I had to smile a bit (sorry) when I read about your mum - mine was here yesterday for a few hours and although she's lovely and a big help she does drive me round the twist sometimes! I think that's just the nature of mothers (hope we don't turn out to be the same when our kids are grown!) - they try to do their best I think but it's not always what we have in mind!
Why don't you just go on "strike"and barricade yourself in your room with Niklas and give her a list of jobs to do? Or wouldn't she take well to that?

Well we had a bit of a rough night last night - I banished dh to the spare room as I figured that he'd be more help today if he managed to get a decent nights' sleep. Grace, having slept most of the day yesterday, didn't want to sleep last night and spent a good part of it crying. I managed to get her to sleep for about 4hrs in her crib at about 1.30am but then when she woke again she refused to go back in after feeding so I ended up with her in bed with me. She was quite content and slept through again 'til 7.30am but I was very aware of her and so only dozed. I'm hoping that first, peaceful night wasn't a one off!

Pidge - I now have a huge amount of empathy for how you were feeling post-birth. Terrible sore stitches, sore nipples and bad afterpains. Not to mention feeling weak and dizzy a lot of the time due to the blood loss! Dh went to pick up a valley cushion yesterday for me which relieves the stitches pain but gives me numb buttocks so I'm still not comfortable sitting down! Haven't managed to get out of a nightie yet either!

OP posts:
Pidge · 23/03/2005 14:27

BoneyM - I had a valley cushion too - and it did help quite a bit. I've only just returned it. And today is the first day I haven't had to take paracetamol - so 2 weeks on from the birth, I'm finally recovering! It does get better, but I truly felt like my body had been hit by several trucks, and then run over by a juggernaut for good measure! Hope you mend really fast.

On the sleep front - Iris does NOT approve of the moses basket! The only way we've found to get her to sleep is to swaddle her tight in a blanket and then put her in the bed between us. Most amusing as I was avowedly NOT a co-sleeper with dd1, in fact I found I just could not sleep with her in the bed. But this time, I've been so tired it's just been a blessing to get Iris to sleep, and after one sleepless night when I was scared of rolling over on her, I find I can nap fine with her in bed next to me. But Easter holidays for dp begin tomorrow and project Easter is ... get Iris to sleep in her basket!

Leogaela - huge sympathies on the parent front. I am truly blessed in that department - my mum and dad have been staying for a fortnight, and are amazing. They shop and cook and clean. My mum has just made an Easter egg tree for dd1, and is now sorting out the flowers sent after Iris was born, plus she's already shopped for our supper. And my dad is out buying paint to spruce up our garden wall!

Good luck norash40 and kerryJ ... still quite a few March days left for you. I know you start going stir crazy at the end - but try to enjoy those final days with some pampering for yourself.

Harrizeb · 23/03/2005 22:05

Hi Pidge, sorry to butt in, just a thought something we had suggested to help DS settle when we 1st brought him home was put a contrast picture on the side of the cot so he could see it when he woke up and it seemed to help him settle rather than get really scared as he couldn't see where he was - the baby crib and walls were very similar colours and must have all blended into one. HW suggested it and it seemed to help a bit. good luck for project easter
