Hey thedame,

I am so glad for you that things are actually moving. maybe not at the pace you want them to, but they are moving . Let us know how it goes yeh.

I am still waiting.

thedame71 · 15/03/2005 18:31

Norash, it won't be long now although it seems like an eternity tho'!

When you feel ready from 37/38 weeks and you go late its nearly a month of thinking 'anyday now'! I will keep my fingers crossed your baby comes soon xxxxxxx

norash40 · 15/03/2005 19:31

Thank you thedame {{{{{{{{{{{{{{ labour vibes gal}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Let us know if anything happens yeh! Wishing you a "good" one if there is such a thing.

Leogaela · 15/03/2005 21:25

Hi all,

I have been checking in every day, but usually have Niklas in my arms at the same time and have given up trying to type one handed!

Congratulations Jambot!!!! I hope you are recovering well from the CS. Take it easy and make sure your dh makes a lot of fuss of you for a few weeks!

I guess mummy3 must be a mummy of 3 by now!

Cristina7 - please let us know how Sylvia is doing

Thedame - good luck! I hope things have started for you!!!

CHarlie95 - will be thinking of you tomorrow! hope all goes well!

Sweeney????? Waiting for your news!

Pidge - I hope you are starting to feel better, I was feeling really sorry for myself with the pain after my CS, but it sounds as if you are suffering that sounds nasty as well. I can't believe you are so persistent and strong to put yourself through that!

Niklas seems to be very clingy at the moment and is feeding constantly, as soon as I put him down he starts crying, I pick him up he goes quiet for a while does a mouth open looking for my boob action, I feed him, he guzzles for a while the is sucking but not really swallowing, he falls asleep I put him down, a few minutes later he starts crying again and so we go on... I am not sure that I have enough milk which is why he wants to feed constantly and isn't happy when I put him down. Any experienced mums got any ideas????

bonym · 16/03/2005 07:52

Leogaela - I had this problem with dd - just wanting to suck constantly but not really feeding. The midwife suggested I try her with a dummy as it seemed as though she was just "comfort" sucking. I had been adamantly anti-dummies prior to this ("horrible things; no child of mine will have one" etc.etc.) BUT in desperation we tried one and never looked back

OP posts:
thedame71 · 16/03/2005 08:08

I have turned to dummies with both my DS's for exactly the same reasons both of them were very sucky babies. And with both from about 8 weeks they started to lose interest in the dummies and it was really straight forward to stop using them.

Hope this helps xxxxx

bonym · 16/03/2005 10:33

Hi girls - don't know if anyone is interested, but I've just been talking to a journalist from the Guardian who is writing an article on "The Reality of Birth in Britain". She needs about 6 women who are due in the next week or so to discuss their expectations for the birth and then talk to them briefly afterwards to see how things turned out. She is really nice - if anyone would be interested in talking to her, you can CAT me and I'll give her you her 'phone number.

jambot · 16/03/2005 10:49

Hi All. Well it's been a week since our precious bundle arrived. She is a beautiful baby ( but don't we all think that?) and is pretty good so far. Only dissapointment was that I just couldn't come right with the breast feeding. Tried my best until yesterday, but just couldn't get her to latch properly. Ended up in tears every time and it was stressing me terribly. I could see that she was hardly getting anything to eat and her weight was dropping every day. So.. have decided sadly to go onto formula. She is happier and I am hugely more relaxed and relieved. So much for my natural birth and six month of breast feeding, but I am at peace with the whole thing and I have a beautiful healthy baby.

bonym · 16/03/2005 10:53

HI jambot - sorry the b/f didn't work out for you, but as you say, it is much more important that you and she are happy and relaxed - at least you gave it a try, and she will be fine on formula so don't worry yourself about it.

oceanmama · 16/03/2005 11:27

Hi all, just popping in to say congratulations jambot and good luck to any other labouring mums

Madeline has been the proverbial Very Hungry Caterpillar this week and wants to feed all the time as well - a friend of mine with children of her own suggested it might be a growth spurt, so we'll see what her weight's doing tomorrow...

bonym · 16/03/2005 16:30

Thedame - just wanted to wish you good luck for tomorrow - that's assuming you haven't gone into labour spontaneously before then! Look forward to the birth announcement.

Hmm - not many of us left now - I wondered if something was starting this afternoon as I had a bit of an upset stomach before picking dd up from school, and this is how labour started when I had her. That was 1.5 hrs ago though and no twinges, so I guess I'm going to be here a bit longer...

OP posts:
norash40 · 16/03/2005 17:01

Hey bonym, is it just you and I left here or what's going on? It seems everyone is going into labour. Oh well our day will come soon (I hope)

bonym · 16/03/2005 17:22

Yep Norash - looks like, you, me and ZoeC - don't know what's happened to some of the others who are due later this month - none of them have posted for a while. I think I saw Tamula on another thread a couple of days ago. Don't desert me yet, will you?

OP posts:
ZoeC · 16/03/2005 18:10

Hi Norash40 and Bonym

Yep, still here. Although had a show this morning, couldn't keep lunch down (hormone surge? was like when I was sick with morning sickness) and have been having back ache/tightenings and a couple that were more contraction like but mild and not at all regular. So lots of prelabour stuff I'd say - hoping this means action soon fingers crossed. Be good timing as my mum is up for a couple of days from tomorrow so that'd help

Zoe

Leogaela · 16/03/2005 19:16

Still checking in Bonym, not abandoning you yet! It would be nice to hear how Tamula and some of the other girls are doing!

ZoeC, hoping for you that it is the start of things!!! Keep us updated if possible!

Bonym - thanks for the advice about the dummy! I thought that I didn't have enough milk but we went to the doctor today and Niklas has put on a lot of weight (700g in 2 weeks!!!) so it is him being clingy and needing to suck. Doctor also advised using a dummy and giving him cammomile or fennel tea in between feeds. I got both dummy and tea today and he seems to have enjoyed both! I was also not keen on dummies (I seem to be breaking all my 'no child of mine....' rules), reinforced the other day be seeing a baby drop theirs on the floor in a shop, a stranger pick it up with her fingers on the teat and put it back in the pram without telling the mother. That thing will be stuck straight back in the childs mouth. Yuk!!! My mum arrives today and I know she is anti-dummies and I am dreading what she will say - I can feel she is winding me up even before she arrives!!!!

I did something SO embarassing today! It was a long day, we were on our way home... Niklas was in the back of the car screaming his head off, I drove across a railway line, didn't see the automatic barriers coming down, sun was shining so I didn't see the flashing lights and ended up stuck between the barriers on the railway, couldn't go forward or back, the train was luckily in the station waiting to pull out so not dangerous, but there were loads of people around staring at the stupid idiot stuck on the railway line! I had a big breakdown after that loads of tears!! dh made me feel better, it was close to his work and he told me it had happened to a couple of guys a work, except the barrier had crashed down on the car! At least my car had no damage!

thedame71 · 16/03/2005 19:23

Hopefully my last post til my birth announcement. Still having stop and start mild contractions but nothing progresses.

Going in to hosp tomorrow at 7.30am, slightly nervous about the induction process but feeling positive that I will meet baby soon!

Good luck everyone else and hopefully will post my news soon... xxx

Leogaela · 16/03/2005 19:45

Good luck Thedame!!!!

babster · 17/03/2005 10:01

Hello - just popped by to say that ds arrived on Tuesday 15, a few days early. Labour was amazing - waters broke at home at 10.30pm, quick dash to hospital, and he was born at 1am. I was home by 5pm - hooray! Good luck to all you other March ladies who are still hanging on.

Nettee · 17/03/2005 11:57

leogaela - Sam sometimes won't settle when I put him down even though he is tired and full. I have found that putting him in his papoose works wonders and gives me both hands free. He is even happy in it when wide awake if he isn't hungry. another option to try maybe. Good luck with your mum visiting - remember that you know best.

norash40 · 17/03/2005 17:24

Congratulations babster. I hope you are having a good time enjoying your baby . Can''t wait to have mine.

norash40 · 17/03/2005 17:27

I see bonym has disappered. Oh well wish you all the best gal.

Just me then, and then there was one

bonym · 17/03/2005 20:30

Nope - still here . DH had the laptop again today and our main machine has STILL not been fixed so this is the first chance I've had to come on here!
